TW !: mentions/accusations of an inappropriate relationship

NINETEEN.
( I wish that you would stay in my memories. )

Emmy anxiously bounced on her feet as she stood in front of the door, her hand tightening around the medal. She had rang the doorbell about 10 seconds ago, and it might as well have been the longest 10 seconds of her life.

She took a deep breath, and as another 10 seconds went by, she was growing even more and more afraid. She made a vow for revenge against her family, but it was easier to imagine their downfall than to actually see it.

As another ten seconds went by, she figured that she failed, and turned around to leave.

"Hello?"

She gave a light gasp, pausing and turned back around to see Robby at the door. The air was immediately tense and awkward, and Emmy remembered what he had said about her.

"Emmy," he looked surprised to see her. "Are you okay?"

She almost wanted to laugh. Emmy didn't blame him for thinking something was wrong since the last time they saw each other, she was on the edge of a complete mental breakdown.

"Yeah," she said, quickly shaking her head. "I just ⎯ "

Emmy cut herself off, raising her arm and held out her palm. The Medal of Honor laid gently on it, and Robby's face drastically changed. "The Medal of Honor. It was you? You trashed Miyagi-Do?"

She thickly swallowed and nodded. "Yeah. It was me."

Robby scoffed, snatching the medal from her hand. "And you were the one who wrote "liars" on the wall. Liars?"

"Well you certainly aren't truthers," she couldn't help but snap back.

He looked at her for a moment. "Is this about what happened at the mall?"

She rolled her eyes, no longer feeling anxious or guilty about anything. "You guys really just pick stuff out of your ass. And to find out that you were the one who accused me of it? After I came here and opened up about things that I've only ever told to my closest friends? I thought we were better than that."

"Better than what? It's not like we're close."

"No, but I thought we could at least be civil! Or friends ⎯ "

"We will never be friends," Robby said coldly.

Emmy felt like she was punched in the gut. But she knew that she screwed up.

"You know," her voice started to break. "I want you to think, in that braincell-less head of yours, and ask yourself, "Would Emmy really send her friends to go and attack the first person who ever bothered to be her friend?" Because I would hope that you think that question is fucking ridiculous too."

"Fine. Maybe we were wrong about that, but that doesn't give you the right to trash our dojo!" he took an anger step towards her, but Emmy stood her ground.

"I was angry and upset ⎯ "

"So you decide to completely wreck the one thing your dad has worked to hard for ⎯ "

"Why should I care what he's worked hard for?" she exclaimed, feeling her heart getting heavier and heavier. "He clearly doesn't care about me considering he looked me in the eye and called me his "greatest burden.""

Robby's eyes squinted at her, hand clenching in fury. "You hurt him. You destroyed his dream that he worked so hard for. He's a hard working man who only wants to help ⎯ "

"You bastard! What about me?" she cried out, taking a step closer so they stood chest to chest. "What about how he hurt me? What about how he completely dismissed and ruined my dreams? What about how hard I've worked to get where I am? Why does no one ever care about I feel?"

"Emmy ⎯ "

"No," she shook her head, tears in her eyes as she looked up at him. "I came here because I know that what I did was wrong, and I that acted from anger. I wanted to apologize."

"Why? You've already done so much damage. Did you want Sam to forgive you? Or Demetri? Maybe even your dad?"

"I wanted you to forgive me!"

Robby's eyes widened.

"You are the one person that I felt like truly understood what I was going through. You made me feel like I wasn't alone. And I'm not trying to excuse my actions or what I did, but I just wanted to hear you say that you understand."

He realized. "You knew I was gonna open the door."

"I had a feeling," she sniffled, taking a step back.

He looked sadly at her and tried to grab her arm. "Emmy."

"Don't," she pulled her arm away as if his hand was fire. "You've already said your piece."

Robby gulped, slowly lowering his hand.

"You know, maybe I am like the rest of the Cobra Kais," she began. "But you are no better than Daniel LaRusso. And that coming from me, should eat you alive."

Emmy quickly walked away, and Robby inched towards her. "Emmy!"

She ignored her, merely wiping her tears as she headed towards the car. She flung open the passenger side door, and flopped into her seat.

"Hey..." Hawk gently approached her.

"Just drive," she quietly said, folding her arms over her chest and turned her head away from him.

He swallowed thickly, eyes staring at her in concern as he started the car.

"Emmy!"

She almost jumped as Miguel and Emmy sprang up from the mat, rushing over to her.

"Where the hell were you yesterday?" Tory asked. "You missed out on the greatest training day."

"Coyote Creek," Emmy lightly chuckled. "Yeah. Hawk told me all about it."

"Well," Miguel gestured for her to keep talking. "Where were you?"

"Oh," she nervously chuckled, placing her bag on the ground next to Hawk's. "I just had some stuff to take care of."

Tory lightly furrowed her eyebrows at her odd behavior. "Like what? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah! Totally," she quickly reassured them.

"Ms. LaRusso."

The three of them turned to Johnny's office, seeing Kreese standing by the door way, as if he was waiting for her.

She gulped and nodded, giving her two friends a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Excuse me."

They both watched her walk into the office room, and Kreese shut the door. They turned to each other with looks of worry, but didn't want to say anything.

Kreese sat in Johnny's chair, a cigar in his hand.

"Is Sensei Lawrence not here yet?" Emmy asked.

"He's running a little late," he informed her. "But I didn't call you in here so you can ask about him."

Emmy rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I know. And unfortunately, I have nothing to report."

"Really?" he raised his eyebrows. "Not even after handing back the Medal of Honor?"

She straightened her back. "How do you know about that?"

He lowly chuckled. "That Hawk friend of yours doesn't know how to talk quietly. Especially when talking to Diaz."

"Wait, Miguel knows?" she panicked. "Hawk didn't tell me that."

"He found out when they went head to head at Coyote Creek," Kreese hummed. "Diaz didn't seem to pleased when he realized your involvement. But Hawk promised him that he would tell you to give it back. And you did. Can't say I'm not disappointed you didn't come back with anything new."

Emmy scoffed, folding her arms over her chest. "Unless you count even more confirmation that my family hates me new, then yeah. Sorry to disappoint."

He hummed again, waving her off and lit up his cigar. "You're dismissed."

"Thank you," she spoke in a sarcastic tone, and opened the door to the office. Her friends all sat on the mat, watching as she walked out of the office and closed the door behind her. She sat down next to Miguel with a huff. "That grandpa needs to take that stick out of his ass."

She then looked around at all of them, catching their stares and weird expressions. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"

"What were you doing in there?" Miguel asked, lightly nudging her.

"Just ⎯ " Emmy shrugged. "Talking with Kreese."

"Are you sleeping with him?"

Emmy's eyes almost bulged out of her head. "What? No! No! Why the fuck would you think that?"

"Well, you're always in the office alone with him," Aisha winced. "And he's always pulling you aside to talk to you. And he always seems to know that you're not gonna be there."

"That doesn't mean we're sleeping together!" Emmy whispered shouted. "Are you guys crazy?"

"Then what the hell are you always doing in there?" Hawk questioned. "You've been acting different since he pulled you aside the first time. You've been skipping practices, like, it's not like you to turn down something like Coyote Creek."

Emmy knew that she was gonna have to tell them eventually, and sighed in defeat. "Fine. I will tell you what's going on, but, you can not tell anyone. Especially Sensei Lawrence."

They all leaned in closer and nodded.

Emmy pursed her lips. "He's been having me spy on Miyagi-Do again. And he didn't want me to tell anyone cause he thinks it'll compromise everything."

"What?" Tory's eyes widened. "What do you mean again?"

"I'm the reason why the Cobra Kai demo happened at valley Fest," Emmy sheepishly said. "He made me go to dinner with my family and my dad told me about their demo."

"Jeez," Tory's face twisted.

"Have you found out anything?" Hawk hurriedly asked.

"Only that the kids who left Cobra Kai went to Miyagi-Do. But other than that, nothing of value to Cobra Kai," Emmy sighed, leaning back on her hands. It felt good to finally be able to talk about this with people.

"Of course," he scoffed. "What about you?"

Emmy gave a strained smile. "They sold all of my bedroom furniture."

"What?" they all exclaimed.

"Yup," she gave a tight lipped smile. "My room has been completely emptied out and I found a stack of papers that just have every single thing in my room listed on it and it says sold."

"Why would they do that?" Aisha asked.

"Because, according to my backstabbing bitch of a sister, I seem to have hurt my father's feelings."

"Wait, he knows about..." Hawk trailed off.

"No idea. But Robby knows and I wouldn't be surprised if he told him," Emmy leaned on her palm.

Tory placed a hand on her knee in comfort. "I'm sorry, Em."

"It's whatever," Emmy solemnly said. "I just wish I could stop thinking about it."

"Well, Tory and I were going to the roller rink. She's picking up shift there and I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you tagged along, right?" Miguel turned to his girlfriend.

Tory immediately nodded. "No, of course I wouldn't mind. And if you want it, I know they're looking for more staff. I could get you a shift if you want."

"Really?" Emmy grabbed her hand.

"Hell yeah," Tory chuckled. "My night would be so much better if I was working with you."

Emmy gave her a grateful smile. "Thank you." And then she looked around at her friends, opening her arms wide. "I love you guys."

They all laughed at her sappiness, each coming in closer to wrap their arms around her and each other in a group hug. "We love you too, Emmy."

"I'm not kidding when I say this, with your hair alone, you definitely should have been born in the 80s," Tory snorted as she and Emmy placed down food at different tables, giving their best polite smiles.

"You think?" Emmy reached up and scrunched her hair. "It takes a lot to maintain it."

"Well, it looks great," Tory told her, holding up her empty tray. "Have you been here before? You and Tony seem friendly."

"Oh, I used to come here all the time with Demetri and Hawk," Emmy explained. "Tony never really liked my dad and we bonded over that. He's bitter because my dad tried to raise a car price on him."

Tory gave a loud laugh. "I would die to see that. I'm actually pissed that we weren't friends before. You're like my sister."

Emmy grinned. "Aw, Tory. Don't worry. We have lots of years ahead of us to make up for failed time. And I can't wait for the next All Valley. I just know you're gonna kick ass. You're a natural."

Tory nudged her. "You're making me blush. And as if I'd win over you. You're the champ for a reason."

Emmy gave a proud smile, and Tory giggled. "Hey, how do you feel about Kreese leaving?"

"Um," Emmy's face slowly dropped. "I'm kinda shocked, to be honest. I mean, he did make me into a Miyagi-Do spy, but, he gave a lot of deep advice. I guess it was nice to have someone who truly gets Cobra Kai. Like, he was founder of the whole thing."

"That's what I've been saying!" Tory lit up. "I tried to say that but Miguel just said that it was probably for the better."

Emmy rolled her eyes. "He's just biased towards Sensei Lawrence. And I don't think he really liked how Kreese taught things."

"But, doesn't he know best? Being a Cobra Kai sensei before?" Tory furrowed her eyebrows.

"That's what I think," Emmy shrugged. "But, Sensei Lawrence prob had his reasons and I'm choosing to trust him. Even if I don't like it."

Tory then glanced at Emmy's face and grimaced. "Oh. Assface got you good, huh?"

Emmy immediately cringed, touching the bruise on the side of her forehead. "Yeah. And for someone who acts as if there's nothing up there all the time, his head is extremely solid."

"After the night is done we can head over to my place. I have a few ice packs. Plus, we are way overdue for a sleepover," Tory said, the two continuing to slowly skate around.

"You read my mind," Emmy giggled, before feeling someone tap her shoulder.

"Oh, excuse me. Can we get some menus?"

"Yeah, sure ⎯ " Emmy turned around and froze.

"Well, look who it is," Tory commented, while Emmy and Robby stared at each other with unreadable eyes.

"I, um..." Sam thickly swallowed. "I didn't know you worked here."

"Yeah, well, not all of us get to use daddy's credit card," Tory said.

"Look, we just wanted to order some food. I'm sorry," Sam tried to deflate the situation.

And to make things worse, Miguel skated up to the two girls. "What time do you guys go on break? I wanted to time it out so the fries are extra crispy."

Emmy turned to him, giving an awkward expression and nodded her head towards the two in front of them. Miguel immediately took off his glasses once he saw them, stuttering nervously. "Hey, I didn't recognize you. I...dig the costumes."

"Thanks," Sam said coldly and shortly.

"Uh, Tory, this is Sam and Robby," Miguel introduced them.

"Yeah, we met already," Tory nodded. "Sam and I had a little run-in at the beach club."

Robby and Emmy hadn't said a word, both too busy taking sneaky glances at each other. One with a guilty gaze and one with an anxious one.

"So, how do you two know each other?" Sam asked.

"Tory's in Cobra Kai," Miguel responded.

"Figures," she said under her breath.

Emmy's head snapped over to her. "Wanna say that a little louder?"

Sam just gave her a sarcastic expression, eyes glaring up at her.

Emmy just scoffed, taking one last glance at Robby before turning to Tory. "Let's go. Just looking at her is giving me a headache."

Tory nodded, making sure to make a big show by giving Miguel a slow kiss goodbye, and she and Emmy skated away, leaving him awkwardly standing there while Robby guided Sam away.

Emmy sighed as she hurriedly retouched her makeup and hair in the break room, not wanting to take up too much time. She paid detailed attention as she stared at herself in the mirror, when suddenly, and figured popped up behind her and she jumped with a small scream.

"It's just me!"

Once she could fully breathe, her face scrunched up in disbelief. "Robby? What the hell are you doing back here? You can't be back here!"

"I really need to talk to you," he said, stalking up to her.

"Well I don't wanna talk to you," she sat down on a chair and tried to tie the laces to her skates as quickly as possible. "So you can get out."

"Emmy, please," Robby pleaded.

"Robby, get the hell out. I mean it," she got up on her feet, skating past him, but then she felt a tug on her arm, and she turned around. "Let go of me! What are you doing?"

"Let me talk to you!" he exclaimed.

"About what?" she yanked her arm out of his grip. "Seriously, Robby. About what?"

"I wanna apologize!" he said with flickering eyes and Emmy looked at him in shock. "Ever since that night, I've just been in my head and ⎯ and ⎯ " he gulped. "It's eating me alive."

Her eyes widened as she remembered her words to him.

But you are no better than Daniel LaRusso. And that coming from me, should eat you alive.

"Robby ⎯ "

"I don't ever want you to not trust me, or think that I don't understand or that I'm not trying to understand," he started. "I want you to trust me and to feel comfortable being vulnerable with me. And I'm sorry that I made you think otherwise."

Her eyes became glazed as her heart started to beat faster. "Robby..."

"Because truth is," he continued. "You're the only person who understands me too. And I don't want that to change. So I just ⎯ I just want to hear you say that you understand and forgive me."

Emmy wondered if the true feeling in her heart was evident on her face.

"Robby, what are you doing?" she threw her arms up in the air. "You're clearly on a date with Sam and then you barge in here and practically beg for my forgiveness and understanding? What are you doing?"

Robby gulped. "You're right. I'm sorry. I'll go now."

And right as he was about to leave the room, and was the the doorway, Emmy moved forward. "Robby."

He looked back at her.

"I understand."

And suddenly, there was an exchange of sad knowing looks, and he left.

Emmy gave a small cry, flopping onto a chair, putting her head in her hands.

"Emmy?"

She gasped, lifting her head up and saw Tory entering the room with a concerned look. "What's wrong? What happened?"

The question only made Emmy cry harder, and Tory's face hardened.

"Those assholes," she muttered, before grabbing Emmy by the hand and yanked her up. Emmy shouted as Tory dragged her out of the room, but the latter ignored her.

She saw Sam and Robby in front of her, and she turned to Tory with wide eyes. "Wait, Tory ⎯ "

Tory shouldered Sam, causing the girl to squeal and fall to the floor. Emmy slapped a hand over her mouth as she stood behind Tory, and felt herself start to get dragged away again.

But, it took about 2 seconds before Sam came barreling towards them, swiping Tory's legs out from under her, causing her to flip on her back and spilling all of the food she was carrying.

"Oh my god," Emmy gasped, immediately dropping to the ground. "Tory, are you okay?"

"What the hell, Sam?" Miguel yelled as he quickly came over.

"What? Me? I... She's the one ⎯ "

"Are you okay, Tory?" the security guard came rushing over, checking in on the girl on the floor.

Miguel helped Tory carefully come off the floor, the girl clutching her head. He then looked at Emmy, noticing her red, puffy eyes. "Emmy? Were you crying?"

She just looked at him and shook her head, too exhausted to explain.

"All right, you're done," Security told Sam and Robby. "You're out."

"She's the one who started it!" Robby pointed at Tory.

"You're out!" the man repeated, and the two teens looked at each other with irritation and defeat.

Robby and Emmy made eye contact, but the girl turned away first, feeling her eyes start to burn at the mere sight of him.

"That asshole's head is like titanium," Emmy groaned as she placed an ice pack on her forehead, flopping onto Tory's bed. Somehow, her head started to hurt more as the night went on. And her talk with Robby only furthered it. She was just happy that her night at the roller rink was over.

When Tory didn't respond, she moved the ice pack away from her face and frowned. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Tory was sat on her carpet on the ground, leaning against her bed. "Do you know if Miguel still likes Sam?"

Emmy sighed, guessing Tory saw or heard something when the two decided to go in opposite directions. She didn't know if she should tell Tory since Miguel is one of her best friends, but she did know that if she was in Tory's shoes, then she would want to know the same thing too.

"I know that he's not over her," she said and Tory dropped her head.

Quickly, Emmy hopped off the bed and joined her friend on the floor. "But I also know that he really likes you. Like, before we went to bed one night, all he could talk about was how amazing this new girl is."

Tory lifted her head up, tears brimming her eyes. The sight made Emmy's heart break a little. "So, I'm not just some rebound girl?"

"Oh, Honey..." Emmy wrapped her arms around the girl, letting her cry into her arms. "Never think you're a rebound girl."

"If anything were the happen between Miguel and Sam, you would tell me right?"

"Of course."

"Promise me," Tory held out her pinky.

Emmy gave her a sad smile and linked their pinkies together. "I promise."
