Four.
FOUR.
( I kinda wanna throw myself across the room. )
"Oh my god! You guys should have seen it. I killed that try out," Emmy grinned as she recounted her first day at Cobra Kai.
"Yeah. And you killed my back," Miguel jokingly clutched his lower back, and she slightly shoved him.
"Not my fault," she simply said, sticking a straw into her juice box. "You're a lot lighter than you look. I could have knocked you over with my pinky finger."
Emmy held up her pinky finger, shoving it in his face as a way to mock.
"Ha, ha. I get it," he brought down her pinky, holding it between his thumb and pointer finger. "Beginner's luck."
She snorted, bringing both of their hands down. "That's what are sore losers say."
He gapped at her. "I'm not a sore loser."
"Sure," she raised her voice and octave, laying her hand flat on her chair. That's when she felt something and looked down, still seeing Miguel's fingers intertwined with her pinky and she blushed.
"Why are you so red?"
Her head snapped up, and her free hand felt around her face. She internally cringed at the feeling of heat coming from it. "What? No I'm not."
From the corner of her eye, she can see Miguel leaning in closer to her, and her hand felt her face heat up even more. "He's right. You're really red. You feeling okay?"
His hand pulled away from her pinky, and raised it up to tough her forehead, but Emmy quickly swatted it away. "Don't touch me. I'm fine. It's just hot in here."
"Mhm," Demetri raised his eyebrows at her.
"Whatever. I'm gonna go get cold water. You know. Cause it's hot in here," Emmy stood up from her seat.
Miguel then stood up from his. "I'll come with. There's something I want to talk to you about."
Her feet stopped, gave a nervous chuckle. "Okay."
"I totally forgot to tell you, but we got a new student!" Miguel immediately began to say as they walked away from the table and towards the vending machine.
Emmy copied his smile. "Really? That's awesome! Who? Please don't say Kyler, Yasmine, or even Sam."
He laughed at her. "It's none of them. Do you know Aisha?"
"Aisha Robinson?" Emmy's eyes widened, and he excitedly nodded. "Wow. Good for her. What karma it is for this school once she learns how to kick Yasmine's ass. Maybe even give her a front wedgie and split her in two."
They both paused in front of the vending machine, Emmy pulling a dollar bill while Miguel looked at her oddly. "Why is that your first response? God, now I know why you and Sensei get along so well. You guys are the same person."
As she pressed a button, she turned to him. "And I will take that as a compliment. Sensei Lawrence gets me and encourages my rage fueled behavior. I say, he's a saint."
A thud behind her and Emmy turn around and crouch down, sticking her hand into the dispense space and pull out a clean water bottle. It was cold to the touch, and she smiled in satisfaction. "Only ever get water from vending machines if they're cold. If it's room temperature or warm, you're gonna throw up everything."
"You speak from experience?" Miguel asked, the two beginning to walk back.
"Of course," she shrugged her shoulders. "Made the mistake because Eli and Demetri only brought some limited edition flavor packet infused water and it was purple. I was desperate."
Miguel shook his head as he chuckled to himself. "You are completely different from anyone I've ever met, you know that?"
"Can't tell if that's a compliment or not," Emmy said, watching as he chuckled again.
"It is," he reassured.
Emmy nodded, trying to make her shy smile hidden. "Cool."
"Hey, guys! You know that billboard with the big-ass dick on it? I guess Sam takes after her dad."
Miguel and Emmy both stopped walking, heads turning to Kyler, Sam standing in front of him with crossed arms.
"Your dad's billboard has a dick on it?" Miguel whispered to her.
She turned to him in disbelief. "I have no idea. I hope not."
Miguel let out a huff. "Hey, Kyler!"
Emmy's face dropped. "What are you doing?"
"Why don't you shut the hell up and stop being such an asshole?" Miguel walked closer to Kyler.
"What are you doing?" Emmy asked him again, raising her voice again.
Kyler turned to her, scoffing to himself before shaking his head. "Control your dogs, Em. Don't want them to have another beatdown, huh, 'Rhea?" He harshly shoved Miguel back. "I'm ready for your lame-ass karate."
Miguel, who had stumbled into a table from another push, craned his neck side to side. "It's not lame-ass karate."
Kyler went to swing at him, but Miguel tucked his arm under his with ease. "It's Cobra Kai." A sharp punch suddenly connected to Kyler's nose, blood freely flowing from it.
"Holy shit," Emmy breathed out, taking a few cautious steps back.
Kyler had then become enraged, charging at Miguel and tackling him into the table behind him. Then, like a ragdoll, the Diaz boy was dragged onto the next table, his body rolling across it.
Kyler than placed him in a chokehold, but Miguel gave him a sharp elbow to the side, swinging at him one again, and knocked him over with a kick to the back.
"No mercy!" Aisha shouted.
Emmy started to wonder if she should be shouting Cobra Kai related stuff at Miguel to encourage him.
Suddenly, Brucks started to advance at Miguel from behind him, but like he sensed him, Miguel ducked, and swept him off of his feet. That was when another cam and grabbed him by the back of the neck, only to get hit in the balls, making him let go and cower in pain.
Miguel then sent a kick to another that came at him, before landing another at the teen who was clutching his groin.
"Miguel, run!" Emmy hurriedly said, and Miguel glanced over his shoulder, rushing away as Brucks came at him.
He dashed over to a table, rolling over it and grabbed onto an empty, red lunch tray. He kicked a chair in the way of another boy before spinning around and slamming the tray into Kyler. He then did the same to Brucks, briefly keeping him down as he continued to fight off the others.
Kyler than rose back up, causing Miguel to whip around, climbing the back of Brucks and onto an empty table. He struck him in the face wit his foot, and swiped the tray across his face once again. Kyler flopped down, finally showing signs of ultimate defeat.
Emmy was clapping and cheering in sync with the rest of the students, her heart fluttering with awe as she has finally watched Miguel used what he's trained for in action. She made eye contact with him, her smile widening before his eyes went to someone else behind her. She looked over her shoulder, seeing Sam looking at him with shining eyes, and her smile faltered, along with her claps.
Of course.

"All four of them?"
"Yeah."
"Even that big dumb one?"
"Yeah, it all happened so fast. Everything just came together. I was blocking. I anticipated. I slithered."
"You should have seen it!" Emmy grinned, bouncing on the tip of her toes. "It is totally gonna go down in history as one of the greatest fights at West Valley High. Mig's a legend. This will definitely bring in more students for you."
"Huh, your mom is gonna all three of us," Johnny scoffed.
Emmy frowned. "His mom loves me."
"Well, she would if she knew," Miguel gave a cheeky smile. "When my school called, my yaya answered. Never seen her so proud. She won't talk."
Johnny stood up from his desk. "All right, so let me get this straight. You took all the lessons I taught you...and you used them...to straight-up beat the shit out of those punks?"
"Well, yeah," Miguel looked at him weirdly.
"What'd you do, Pinky?" Johnny turned to Emmy.
"Um," she shifted her weight onto one leg. "I cheered him on?"
He stared at her for a moment before shrugging. "Works for me. Follow me, you two."
Emmy looked at Miguel nervously as the two trailed behind the blonde man. "What if he's bringing us to back to kill us and dump us in dumpsters?"
"Emmy," Miguel said in disbelief. "Sensei isn't gonna murder us."
"How do you know that?" she whispered shouted as they walked through the front door. "Maybe he's teaching us karate because he wants us to have a chance at running."
"Running from what?"
"Him! Obviously!"
"I'm telling Demetri to stop reading you things from Reddit."
"Shut up," they heard, and they stopped by a red car. Johnny lifted up in the trunk. It was a white gi with a faded Cobra Kai logo on it. "I wore this when I was training for my first tournament back in '81. I want you guys to have it."
"But there's only one," Emmy pointed out.
"Yeah, but, I figured you guys could share," Johnny waved it off.
The two teens glanced at each other, smiles blooming before they simply shrugged.
Johnny lifted it up, placing it into Emmy's arms.
"Are you sure?" Miguel asked, looking down at it in awe.
"Hell yeah. You earned it."
"This is so fucking cool!" Emmy squealed, passing the gi over to Miguel. She turned to Johnny. "You are so my new role model."
Johnny rubbed her shoulder in response, a small smile on his face. He had his doubts about how truthful Emmy's intentions in Cobra Kai were, but as she continued to come in and learn from him, his worries went away.
She was just a teenager who wanted to fulfill a childhood dream. And he'd be damned if he didn't help her achieve it.
Miguel and Johnny shook hands before Johnny shut the trunk to the car.
Emmy then spread out her arms. "Group hug?"
She knew Miguel would be down, and they looked to their sensei expectantly. He rolled his eyes, wrapping his arms around the two and pulled them into his shoulders. He patted them on the back of the head before letting them go.
"You guys have done good. I'm proud."
Emmy placed a hand on her chest, right where her heart would be. "You're gonna make me cry."
"Don't you dare cry."
She sucked in a deep breath and nodded. "Okay."
