Eighteen.

EIGHTEEN.
( dear god, if I drown myself deep in this holy water.

Emmy's legged burned as Johnny forced them to do continuous burpees after Daniel had barged into the dojo. He wanted them to fess up.

Emmy confided in Hawk, telling him that she was going to do it, and that Sensei Lawrence would understand that she was angry at her dad and did it out of anger. But, he also suggested the idea that Johnny would kick her out of Cobra Kai.

And she couldn't risk that. Not when Cobra Kai was the only family she had left.

"This could all be over in an instant. The decisions yours! Who trashed the Miyagi dojo?" Johnny shouted, walking back and forth. "Y'all know I'm no fan of LaRusso's, but that sort of bullshit we don't teach here. At least not anymore. So, I'm gonna ask you again. Who trashed Miyagi-Do?"

"It was not me, Sensei," Raymond got to his feet, heavily breathing and sweating. "I would never disrespect another man's dojo ⎯ "

"Shut your cakehole, Chubs. I'm not looking for excuses. I'm looking for answers!"

"Sensei, we really don't know who did it," Miguel heaved.

"Somebody knows something," Kreese spoke up. "Question is...who's gonna break?"

Then, the phone in Johnny's office began to ring, and he glanced back at his space, looking at all the exhausted students. "Keep going. We can do this all day."

Emmy watched him disappear into his office, and turned to Tory. "I feel like puking again."

Tory cringed, but rubbed her back in comfort.

"Sensei, we need a water break," she turned back to face the front, seeing Mitch in front of Kreese.

"Two minute break!"

Emmy almost cried out of relief, Hawk helping her up. "Come on."

She swallowed thickly, wincing at how dry her mouth felt. The two walked up to Kreese.

"We think we should tell him," Hawk quietly said.

"Say nothing," Kreese told them. "I'll handle it."

"Well, you're not handling it very well," Emmy snapped. "I feel like my insides could cook this whole room a 5 course meal."

Hawk gave her a harsh kick to her ankle. "Yes, Sensei." He quickly pulled her away, quietly scolding her. Kreese kept his eyes on her, an amused glint in them. What a special girl.

"Uh... excuse me."

Robby, Sam, Demetri, and Daniel turned, seeing a few familiar faces. "Is this Miyagi-Do?"

Robby turned to Sam with furrowed eyebrows, and she looked at the new teens with narrowed eyes.

"Yeah," Daniel answered, getting back up on his feet.

Robby stomped past him and towards them. "Come back for another beating?"

"Hey, Robby," Daniel tried to stop him. "Robby!"

Robby whipped around to him, a look of anger and disbelief on his face. "This is one of the guys who was beating on Demetri. Probably helped trash the dojo."

"We didn't have anything to do with that," Chris defended himself and his friends. He then leaned up, eyes on Demetri. "But I am sorry about what happened at the mall. We just wanna learn Miyagi-Do karate."

"I'd be careful about this, Mr. L," Demetri said. "Letting the Cobra Kais into Miyagi-Do. This could be another Emmy and Hawk ploy to take us out."

"I already told you. Emmy had nothing to do with what happened at the mall," Chris spoke up. "Emmy was one of the first people who treated us like people in Cobra Kai."

"And we should believe you because?" Sam stepped forward, crossing his arms over his chest.

"You don't," he simply said. "But Emmy was the nicest person to us. And even though she hasn't said anything, we all know that she's going through a lot. She wouldn't intentionally hurt anyone that she cared about. Especially her best friend."

Demetri looked down at his shoes.

Daniel ignored the fighting voice in his head. "Welcome to Miyagi-Do."

"Ms. LaRusso, can you come here for a second?"

Emmy stopped her sit-ups, turning to Kreese in confusion. She then looked at Hawk and Miguel, who both shrugged, struggling to continue their workouts.

She got to her feet, wanting to use her break wisely. "Yeah, Sensei?"

"You can stop now," he calmly said, watching the rest of them.

Emmy furrowed her eyebrows. "Can I ask why?"

He turned to her, and she fought the urge to cringe at his face. "You trashed your own father's dojo in the name of Cobra Kai. You may not see it, but in my eyes, I'm quite impressed."

"Impressed?" she snorted. "Impressed about what? That I quite literally destroyed whatever family I had left?"

"Because you cared about Cobra Kai that much," he added on, giving emphasis to his point. "You are by far one of the most promising students I've seen since your own sensei."

Emmy looked at him in slight surprise, not sure how to take the compliment. "Oh... Thank you, Sensei Kreese."

"So much so, that I feel as if, you've always been destined to be a part of Cobra Kai."

Her eyes flickered, not sure what he was trying to say. "I'm sorry, Sensei. But I'm a little confused."

He pursed his lips. "Do you remember when I asked you to get intel on your father's plans with Miyagi-Do, and that ended with Cobra Kai gaining business?"

"Yeah, why?" he gave her a knowing look, and her face dropped. "Are you saying..."

"You've already proved that you're willing to go the extra mile against Daniel LaRusso, especially for those you care about. And with what happened earlier, it is clear to me that your true family is Cobra Kai."

Emmy didn't know how to respond, her heart conflicting with her brain. "If... If I were to agree to do it again, how would I? I mean, my dad calling me his "greatest burden" isn't exactly an invitation to the house."

"I'm sure you've snuck in and out of your house, correct?"

Her eyes almost bugged out of her head. "You want me to break in?"

"Technically, you're legally a resident there. You'd just be a girl trying to get back into her house," he shrugged.

Her jaw slackened. "You are kinda insane."

"I've been told," he smirked. "See what you can gather, and report back to me. No need to inform Sensei Lawrence. It will only remain between us."

Emmy gulped. "No one else will know?"

He gave a firm nod. "No one else will know. They don't have to."

She let out a shaky breath, her fist clenching at her side. "Okay, fine. But this better not become, like, a regular thing. I don't think I can handle another secret on my conscious."

She went to walk away, before abruptly turned back around and walked back up to him. "Wait. What do I get out of this?"

Kreese looked as if he knew she would ask this. "I don't tell a soul about what you had done to Miyagi-Do."

Emmy swallowed thickly, nodded and bowed, walking away. The others watched in confusion as she walked out, turning to Kreese. Kreese smirked to himself. He had everything in the palm of his hand.

Emmy watched the Miyagi-Do students try their best to fix the mess that she and other Cobra Kai students had done with teary eyes.

She couldn't begin to describe the amount of anger she had the previous night, but she could see it. Guilt racked through her, and now she was starting to regret her decisions.

Of course, being accused of something you hadn't done would make anyone mad, but she couldn't defend this level of mad. She tried to understand her emotions, but it was like she couldn't grasp it.

Maybe because it was her family and her best friend and a boy she had hoped to become friends with, but she couldn't think properly. And it had hit her what she had done when she got back to the apartment.

She had broken down in the bathroom, crying silently as she asked herself why things were the way they were. She was hit with a level of regret so severe, that she had almost left and went back to tell her dad what she had done.

But what was done was done, and she couldn't take it back. And she didn't even want to know what Daniel would call her if he found out that she encouraged Hawk to take the Medal of Honor.

"His Greatest Burden" was already a title that had completely shattered her heart, and she didn't want it to completely dissolve. She wouldn't be able to handle that.

Kreese was right. Cobra Kai was all she had left now. The only family she had.

Emmy sucked in a sharp breath, wiping away her tears as she remembered what she was there for. She quietly moved away from the fence, scaling the side of the house before she got to her bedroom window. The lock on it had broken years ago, but she just never told anyone.

She gently opened it, her curtain flowing as the air seeped in through the open space. And as quietly as she could, she slowly slid her body under the window, pushing back the curtain so that she could have more space to move.

As she made it through, she brushed her hair out of her face, and turned around, only to the freeze.

Why the fuck was her room empty?

Emmy immediately started to panic, frantically looking at the ceiling and floors, but it was empty. Like an entirely new and different room.

She then heard her dad's voice outside, and she let out a shaky breath, knowing that he would be out there for awhile to help out with the mess.

Her legs quickly moved, and she stopped at the kitchen, seeing her mom's laptop and a stack of papers at the head of the table. She looked around her, making sure that no one was inside the house before walking over to the laptop, pressing a random key and turning it on.

It looked as if it had only been to sleep for a short amount of time as it didn't ask her for a password and immediately opened to Google.

She nervously licked her lips, leaving that alone for now and paid attention to the stack of papers, picking the one the top. She looked at it uninterested, planning to find a bill statement, but when she read over it, she straightened up.

Why are was there a document that stated her vanity mirror had been sold?

Her interest peeked, and she picked up another paper. This time, her bedside lamp.

Another. Her damn bed frame.

Another. Her mattress.

Another. The color changing lamp on her desk.

And it went on and on and on.

Her hands tightened around the pieces of papers, the sides becoming crumpled as she did so. She couldn't believe it. Her parents fucking sold everything in her room.

She wanted to laugh at how absolutely ridiculous all of this was.

And then suddenly, she heard a giggle.

Emmy gasped, quickly placing the papers back and ducked underneath the table, the bulky chairs giving her great coverage. She instantly recognized Sam and Robby's voice. She caught sight of their legs moving towards the fridge, and heard it open.

"Watching Demetri and Chris try to lift that rock has to be the funniest I've ever seen," Sam laughed, grabbing a bottle of lemonade and a bottle of water for Robby.

"They fight like an old married couple," Robby chuckled, cracking the bottle open and took a sip of the cold liquid.

There was a beat of silence before Robby broke it. "Hey, do you think they were actually telling the truth about Emmy?"

The girl under the table held her breath.

Sam sighed. "I don't know. I mean, if she was nice to them, then it wouldn't surprise me if they would lie for her. But I just can't separate her from the rest. Those are the people she's around everyday. Hawk is her best friend and she's becoming close with a girl who likes to steal."

Emmy rolled her eyes at her comment about Tory.

"I know, but, what if Hawk just knew that Demetri would be there?" Robby suggested. "The three of them were best friends. It wouldn't surprise me if he remembered that Demetri would be excited about that day."

Sam furrowed her eyebrows at him. "Are you defending her? After what she did? What Cobra Kai did?"

"No!" he quickly said. "But, I'm just saying that we don't for sure know that it was her."

"Doesn't matter," Sam scoffed, shutting the fridge. "Whether she did it or not, Cobra Kai did it. And Emmy's a part of Cobra Kai. We can't forget that. She's bad news now."

"I guess," Robby quietly surrendered, before walking over to the table.

Emmy quickly scrambled back, slapping a hand over her mouth.

Robby picked up one of the pieces of paper. "Isn't it a bit excessive that you guys are selling her stuff? I mean, what if she comes back?"

Sam sighed, walking over to him. "Knowing Emmy, she'll keep this going till the day she dies. And honestly, I don't know if my dad would let her back. She hurt him. A lot."

Robby hummed, putting the paper down. "We should go back out."

Sam silently agreed, and the two walked back to the dojo.

Emmy gave a big breath of relief, climbing out from under the table and straighten herself out. She wanted to scream from the top of her fucking lungs.

She hurt him a lot?

Emmy couldn't even think about that anymore. She wanted to storm out there and yell at Daniel LaRusso for everything he had done, but Emmy knew better. But she should do it. But she won't.

With one last glare towards the laptop and papers, and rushed back to her now empty room and walked away from the house with a new found anger in her heart.

And this time, she didn't care if she could control it. She just wanted to see the LaRusso family suffer. By her or not.
