How to draw a cat's body!
Wait!!! Before you start, if you want a far more simpler version, please go to my next chapter, so as to not waste your time!!!
This is a tutorial on how to draw a cat's body!
Please note that this is my style, it's not the only correct way and it's not the best way either, so please don't be mean and rude. I accept all suggestions and would be very grateful if you can give feedback, but please respect my art and don't be rude! Thanks :)
*remember to draw everything softly, with a pencil in traditional art, and on the sketch layer in digital art*
1. The verrrry first thing is... you guessed it! A simple circle. My advice will be not to spend a long time on perfecting the circle, just loop the loop and go with it for the rest of the time. It'll be erased in the end anyways!
2. Next, draw a circle that is about the same size with/ a bit larger than the first one. Skip one circle space and draw another circle.
3. The neck and the back: Connect the right of the first circle and bring it down to the top of the left circle. Then, connect the tops of all the circles.
4. The underbelly: connect the two circles underneath and indent a little.
5. Create a little tuft for the chest (this is optional) and round off the hind.
6. Here comes the tricky part: the legs!
Hind Leg (front): draw a small circle in the "first circle from right to left". Make a curved line, then a straight line that's slightly diagonal.
Hind Leg (back): draw the same kind of line as the front hind leg.
Front leg (front): make a very wide 3 with the curve touching the arc of the "first circle from left to right". Then add straight line. (This is confusing, so look at the photo for reference)
Front Leg (back): follow your instinct :\ that's all I can say... it's hard to explain...
7. Thicken the Hind Leg (front) so that it touches the sides of the circle (see photo for reference)
8. Thicken the hind leg (back) in the same way as Step 7.
9. Trace along the already drawn Front Legs, and add paws to all legs.
10. Add the tail! The tail should be connected to the back of the cat. My style is a large, bushy tail, but you can make a thin take or a fluffy tail too — it's up to you, and it also varies depending on the character!
Congrats! You've finished the cat's body! I will not be talking about the head, because everyone has their own styles!
Remember to check out the simpler version in the next chapter! It's based off the photos only, with no words, and contains a few steps only. Hope this helps! Bye!
