I am but a shadow and you are light Pt.3
It had to be Shadow, right? It just had to be him.
Shadow had clearly told her about remembering that 'Day' and if it was the same day that Amy was thinking about, then it must be him right?
The letter also said 'shadow', so that was a hint right?
It had to be him right?
Amy thought to herself as she re-read the letters given to her.
She had to admit that the letters given to her had gotten a soft spot in her heart. Whoever this guy was, he was a smart one, and one that really understood her.
He had won her heart.
Amy was about to sleep in her white gown but then, she heard something hit her window. She was about to go to sleep but this incident caught her attention.
One
Two
Three
And it continued like that for a while. Rocks kept hitting her window and Amy finally decided to check it out.
Her room was positioned on the second floor of her house and she wonders who dared bother her at this time.
She opened her window, too dark to know if anyone was there.
"Amy?"
Amy couldn't really see much but she recognized that voice.
"Sonic? What are you doing here?" She said as she spotted a dark shadow, she couldn't tell if it was him but since it seems he was the only one around, she accepted that fact.
"I came to tell you...that it's me who has been giving you the letters!" Sonic said almost screaming.
Amy gasped at the realization. Don't get her wrong, she was more than happy that it was Sonic but she had already made her mind it was Shadow the one who wrote the letters.
"Well, you have to prove it!", Amy said. Sonic had left her for two years, and she will be a fool if she just accepted Sonic because he could write well.
And damn can he write well.
"Well...I...I...What do you want me to do?" Sonic stumbled to speak.
"Recite me a poem! One that you have written!" Without Amy's knowledge, Shadow was hidden in a bush. Sonic had an earpiece in which Shadow was telling Sonic exactly what to say.
"Alright! Um...love grows rocked in my soul as I fret...and that cruel child took it...a bassinet!" Sonic said as he listen to shadow through his earpiece.
"That's good." Amy began. "But since it's cruel..should you not have stifled it in its cot?"
Sonic panicked it was as if she was speaking in another language.
Good for him, Shadow was there helping him.
"I did try...the young child to seize...but the newborn babe is a little...Hercules...his first act was to hound out two snakes...pride and doubt."
"That's excellent. But why are your words so hesitant? Why?" Amy inquired.
Sonic waited for Shadow to say something but his earpiece was failing him. The communication signal was terrible. Sonic was in trouble, he stepped back where Shadow was, behind the bush.
Suddenly Sonic pushed Shadow out of the bush and now it was him facing Amy's window.
Amy couldn't really tell what was going or why Sonic is taking a long time to respond.
"It's dark."
She suddenly began to hear.
"They grope in the darkness, looking for your ear."
"My words have not that problem," Amy responded.
"It's normal they should find their way. For it's upon my heart they prey. My heart is large, whereas your ear is small. Besides, your words slip speedily along the wall." Shadow was making his voice sound lighter than usual, trying to make it sound like Sonic's.
Amy noticed Sonic's voice changing, he had a deeper and soft voice...one that had passion in his voice...and she wonders if he had gotten a cold.
"I'll go down."
"No!" Shadow said.
"Then climb up here," Amy said softly.
"No!"
"Why not?"
"Let us stay near...but talking without seeing each other."
"Without seeing each other?" Amy questioned again.
"It's quite wonderful...in darkness, you see a cloak of blackness. I see a dress of summer white. I am but a shadow, you are light."
"Forgive my emotions...It's this sweet new sensation." Shadow was getting excited as he was able to finally say what his heart desires.
"New you say?" Amy left herself go. It was as if she was talking to a friendly, calm darkness.
"Yes, new, I can be honest. Fear of mockery gripped my breast. "
"Mockery?"
"For my feelings! My heart, in modesty, cloaks itself in art! Ah, 'art', how I hate that in love! It's a crime, in love, to play this pantomime."
Shadow was ready to let his heart out, there was no way backing out now and he was in such a state of bliss that he couldn't stop. "There's always has to come a moment and I pity those who know it not...When we a noble love attain...but each pretty word causes pain."
Amy sighed, out of pure love of his words, "So what word will you find for us when that moment comes?"
Shadow took a deep breath, he responded almost immediately. "All those, all those...which come. Everything I throw away. I'm stifling! I love you. This is no game! My heart cries your name! I've loved you every passing day. Last year, on the twelfth of May, you changed the style of your hair. I was dazzled...by its bright flare. Do you understand? Do you realize? Do you feel my soul rise to the skies? Everything tonight is so wonderful, so sweet. I speak, you listen. Me, at your feet! Even in my sweetest dreams, I never planned on this. Now I shall die without freshness...You tremble, I feel it. Even though you leave. The trembling comes to me at the stairs of jasmine."
Amy did not have any more questions, any more doubts. Before she thought that she would be a fool if she accepted Sonic just like that but...let it be it. She could be a fool in love. "I tremble, cry...I love you! My luck is yours." She said.
"Then let death come. I inebriate you and desire nothing else but one thing..."
"A kiss!" Sonic interrupted Shadow loudly and Amy blushed instantly.
"What?!" Amy got out of her trance, she looked around, it was if he had become a different person.
"No, I meant...secrets in the mouth, an infinite sparkle, a bee sound."
Sonic was bothering Shadow now, whispering to him, "Get that kiss!"
"Shut up Sonic!" Shadow said in a loud whisper.
"Shut up Sonic?" Amy repeated a bit of shock in her voice. She continued to look around for him, but it was so dark that he could barely tell if someone was there.
"Yes, I am angry at myself for such boldness, I shouldn't have said something like that. But a kiss is a communion of petals in taste, a way to get a heart on the face... and taste, a little bit, the soul on the lips."
Shadow noticed that Amy was still quiet, meaning she was once again tranced in his words.
"Come up." Amy simply said and Shadow sighed, his job was done here.
Sonic climbed up to her window and it began to rain. Shadow watched from afar. Sonic and Amy shared a gentle kiss which became more heated by the second.
Shadow walked away in the rain. His heart was content that he was able to finally say what he needed to say. But he was also broken because he just gave Sonic the opportunity he always wanted.

"I am so happy for you Amy! After so many years of chasing him, you are finally going to marry Sonic!" Rouge said she drank coffee at Amy's coffee shop.
"I still can't believe it, honestly. Everything is going so fast...Sonic said he wanted to marry me before going into war..." Amy's voice changed, a bit worried still.
Rouge noticed this, an undeniable upcoming war against Infinite was coming and Sonic and Shadow were on the front line.
"Don't worry too much Amy. I'll be there with them too and besides, it's Sonic we are talking about. He won't go down so easily." Rouge comforted her.
"I wish I could join you guys but Sonic said I could only join when it was absolutely necessary. He is scared that something might happen to me." Amy said a bit angry.
"Well, it's understandable, after all, you are his fiancé-"
*RING RING*
Rouge noticed that the phone was ringing and to her surprise, it was Sonic calling.
She picked up her phone, "Hello?"
A few seconds passed and Rouge simply said: "I'll be there in a few."
"Sorry Amy, I need to go, it's a G.U.N. thing, I'll talk to you later."
Amy nodded and waved goodbye to her.

"Alright Shadow, you need to get your life back together!" Rouge said pushing Shadow out of his bed.
Sonic called Rouge to tell her about Shadow's strange condition. Shadow was depressed, he wouldn't eat, nor move out of his bed. He didn't go to the gym as he will usually do.
Now Rouge was in his room, watching him sulking.
"If you only had told Amy about how you feel, you wouldn't be in this situation," Rouge said, pulling Shadow's blanket out of his face.
"Even if I did, she would have said no!" Shadow said, now looking at Rouge.
"How do you know that? For all I know, Amy would have said yes!"
"Rouge, I am the ugliest creature on earth! I don't deserve to be loved!"
"Don't say that Shadow! A lot of girls would love to be with you!" Rouge said with desperation in her voice, she wanted to make Shadow understand.
"Would you be with me? If I tell you I love you, would you be with me?"
"Yes! I would Shadow! I will be with you!"
There was a heavy silence, a gruesome tension.
Shadow, who was desperate for love and heartbroken that the only love of his life was marrying his best friend.
Rouge who was desperate to show his best friend that he was worthy of love regardless of his appearance and that anyone would fall for him if he opened up.
and it happened.
They locked lips, it felt wrong and right at the same time. There was no going back, although they didn't have feelings for each other, they surely hope that they can grow into it.
They really hoped they could love one another.
Sonic smiled behind Shadow's door, knowing exactly well what was happening.
His plan was successful.
