Chapter 1: Flying high

There is no better feeling for a hard-working student than receiving an acceptance letter from your dream school, at least that's what Ten thought. He got accepted to the International All-Boys School of Arts and Performance in Seoul, his dream school to be accurate. Dance was his passion since he learned how to stand up and knew he would do something related to it in the future after graduating, but this school was the only place where he would fully live up to his dream. He started studying Korean about 3 years before receiving the letter so he was quite confident at that. The school provided him a four-person room in their college section for foreigner students, some pocket money for every month for 3 years and an introductory book for the school and Seoul itself.

Ten was so excited he couldn't wait for the winter to end. He worked part-time jobs as much as he could for the plane ticket, he tried to improve his dancing skill and practice Korean with his online friend, whom he would meet soon enough, and get some nice clothes. His mom got two nice suitcases for him to pack and he, luckily, could get everything stuffed in. His parents and friends accompanied him to the airport where they said tearful goodbyes to each other. Ten knew this would happen, he would miss his family and friends the most but he hoped to stay in touch with them. So with that, he left Thailand with passion and ambition.

He had never been to Seoul before, so it scared him a little bit but came over his anxieties when he saw his online friend greeting him at the airport. His name was Kim Jungwoo who was only two months younger than him. They met on a Korean learning website where Ten signed up and Jungwoo volunteered to help him through the internet and not only Ten learned things about the language but about South Korea too. Jungwoo greeted his friend with a big cardboard in his hands which said Ten's name in Thai. The boys met for the first time and until Ten had to move into the dormitory part of the school for international students he lived with Jungwoo and his family. They didn't really bother it, they had heard a lot about him from their son. They, mostly Jungwoo, showed him around their hometown, Sanbon-dong, and helped him get to know the Korean culture.

In South Korea, the first semester starts in March and Ten thought he'd be the only one moving in but later it was revealed that Jungwoo was also moving to a dormitory, but to the Korean part of it, because his travel to his home would take too much time and wouldn't have time to study. He already knew some of his future Korean classmates there thanks to Kakaotalk, one of them was also moving up from another part of South Korea. Ten was really nervous because he was about to meet new people whom he was scared to talk to despite his amazing Korean.

They arrived at the building and Jungwoo looked at Ten excitedly. He couldn't contain himself especially when he saw his other friend whom he had met before once.

"Doyoung hyung!" Jungwoo yelled his friend's name in happiness as he ran towards him with open arms. Doyoung opened up his arms to catch the running Jungwoo. They hugged tightly for a few moments until they released each other and Jungwoo, grabbing Doyoung's wrist, dragged him to Ten to introduce him.

"Ten hyung, this is Doyoung hyung. He moved up from Guri, about an hour from here. Doyoung hyung, this is Ten hyung, he moved all the way from Bangkok!" said Jungwoo as he was still full of excitement. "Isn't that amazing?"

"Yeah, it is," said Doyoung as he gave a calming smile to Ten. "So, Ten, weird name-"

"Well, my Thai full name is kind of long so it's just a nickname," said Ten, scratching the back of his neck. "It's Chittapon Leechaiyapronkul anyway."

Doyoung was surprised at the long name but let it go.

"And so when were you born?" asked Doyoung.

"I was born in February 27." replied Ten.

"Then I'm just 26 days older than you." answered back Doyoung jokingly. "You shall call me Doyoung hyung from now."

"Okay, Doyoung hyung," said Ten as he chuckled a bit.

After a few more conversations the three started walking towards the dormitory building. It wasn't that big but Ten thought he could still get lost in it. On the left side, there was the foreigners' dorm and on the right side, there was the Koreans' dorm. They weren't divided seriously, it just made it easier for people to find their rooms. They already did their pre-registration months ago so all they had to do was to fill some papers and then they'd get the number of their room, maybe the key and the name of their roommate. The good thing was that their roommate would be the same nationality as them.

The boys put their items of luggage down at the entrance and Doyoung showed them the way to the registration room. He already did it so he stayed outside. All kinds of teenagers were sitting opposite of, who seemed to be, senior students. As one kid stood up the next one took their seats. A not so long line was outside the office which they waited through patiently and when their turn came they conquered their place. It was soon Ten's turn, as Jungwoo was already in, and his anxiety rose up again. He noticed a guy standing up slowly at the end of the room from his chair. He slightly bowed to the male student and made his way towards the hall. He was tall, had big eyes and smooth darkish brown hair. Ten looked at him and the guy responded with a warm smile. Ten looked away and made his way quickly to the free desk.

"Good morning." Ten greeted the student as he bowed.

"Good morning." said the student as he gestured Ten to take his seat. "You can call me Heechul hyung. What's your name?"

"My name is Chittapon Leechaiyapornkul," said Ten.

"Ahh, so you are Thai," said Heechul with a smile. "You're the first Thai student who arrived, but don't worry, you won't be the only one. As I see here, you have been studying Korean for almost 4 years now, impressive if I say. Have you taken the TOPIK language exam yet?"

"Yes, I did. I took TOPIK 4 not so long ago," replied Ten.

"That's good to hear," said Heechul. "You may have an advantage here, as a foreigner, because of your high level of speaking Korean. Other than that, here are some papers which you need to fill in," he said as he handed three pieces of paper to Ten. One which he had to write down his basic pieces of information, another one where he had to choose the main subject he would take, which was dance, and other school stuff then on the last paper he had to fill in dormitory information along with allowing him monthly pocket money, access card to the building, a uniform, a discount to the nearby convenience store, everyday meal, a transportation pass and a school ID. With that everything was done and Ten was ready to pack his belongings into his new room, or so Ten thought.

"Okay, since there are no teachers here we discuss a few things with no consequences. Do you smoke or do anything like that?" asked Heechul not looking at the questions on the paper. Ten took a glance at the sheet of paper and saw that the question wasn't on it.

"No, I don't," answered Ten.

"In case you need to," Heechul took out a map of the campus. "here, near behind the PE building, you can get a pack from the boys. Smoking isn't really allowed and the bathrooms are being searched so I suggest the rooftop or the shack behind the PE building. Because trust me, you will need it. You can basically get anything from them, they are seniors. The rooftop of the dormitory building is usually open to anyone if you need privacy other than being in the restroom. Behind the school fences, is the girls' school, the only difference is gender. The fences are really high and are made of stone so don't get scared of the schools being this strict."

Ten just sat there, silently analyzing the map that was in front of him.

"If you have any questions, feel free to find me. I'm usually on the second floor and in the backyard at the big tree with the squad. It was nice meeting you Chittapon. Here's the key to your room, you can see which wing, which floor and door in order, don't lose it. Your uniform is already in your room along with your school ID, access card, transportation pass and the discount ticket which I suggest you to not lose." said Heechul as he pointed to then and chuckled.

"Okay, I won't," said Ten as he smiled like an excited boy.

Ten then stood up and slightly bowed to Heechul who then gave him the map saying he would need it. Ten walked out of the room and made his way to his suitcase. He saw that Jungwoo's stuff was no longer there so he reckoned he had already gone to his room. He saw the sign on the wall which said, Foreign students and pointed to the left. Ten grabbed his belongings and made his way where the sign pointed. He took a glance at his key which had a number on it, L21. It meant that his room was on the left-wing, second floor, first door. Ten groaned as he thought about going up to the second with his heavy suitcase. Eventually, he started climbing up the stairs while holding his heavy suitcase with his weak arms. Even though he danced a lot, his arms weren't as masculine as they thought to be. To his luck, a person saw him suffering upon the stairs so they hurried to help him.

"Do you need help?" he asked.

"Well, yeah a little bit," said Ten as he was about to drop his big bag. The other person grabbed the other end of his suitcase and helped him up the second floor.

"What's your name?" asked the student. He had an American accent, Ten thought.

"Chittapon, but just call me Ten," he said. "What's yours?"

"Youngho, but I prefer Johnny." said the boy. "I'm from the USA, so I only use Youngho at like serious events."

"I'm from Thailand so you can guess how many times I have to say my long ass name." Ten said as he chuckled.

They reached the second floor a few minutes later and put down his suitcase.

"Do you want to grab some lunch after packing and stuff?" asked Johnny which surprised Ten. He wasn't used to people asking him to hang out after a 5-minute long conversation.

"Yeah, sure," said Ten as he grabbed his suitcase. "My room is L21 so knock in case you finish earlier. And I will treat you for a meal for helping with my stuff."

"I won't say no to it, you said it," said Johnny.

Both of them went to their rooms to unpack their belongings and make the room their new home. They were just the usual college rooms: four beds on the sides, between them they had their desks with chairs, shelves above the bed and four not-so-big closets near the beginning of the room.
Ten conquered the bed which was closer to the window since he liked looking at the night sky before falling asleep. He put his clothes in the closet, his necessities on the shelves and then discovered that they had a sink at the corner next to the door.

He saw his uniform along with his cards and other papers on the desk. He put the uniform aside and put his cards into his wallet, just so he wouldn't lose them.
After unpacking his clothes neatly into the closet, he grabbed his key and his wallet and so he was on his way to the Great Hall.
There was a guy sitting in a little box room, he was watching something on his tiny TV box. Behind him was a wall full of keys, Ten believed he had to put it down so then his roommate would get in. He walked to the open window of it and put down the key. The guy just looked at him then took the key and put it on its place.

"Thank you." muttered Ten so quietly as he walked away the guy looked at him with a questioning look.

Minutes later Johnny arrived at the hall too. They smiled at each other and then made their way out of the building. Johnny said he had seen a street food restaurant near the dormitory building so he showed Ten the way there.
While walking in the sunshine of March, they saw two figures walking and looking around near them. Ten recognized the males instantly.

"Doyoung hyung! Jungwoo!" Ten yelled towards which made Johnny flinch a bit.

The two Korean males turned around and saw their friends. They made their way towards them and greeted them.

"And then she was shocked when I said I had no interest in her like she thought we'd get together just after we had a sleepover at my place. Like literally nothing happened there between us, we just slept on the floor while some other people slept in the bed or on the couch. We played a few rounds of Mario Kart and that was it. So romantic, isn't it?" told Johnny as he put a bite of black bean paste noodles into his mouth.

"At least girls are after you. They always tell me that they had thought I was gay because I had a diva face or some shit. Well, I may act a bit bitchy sometimes but I'm not gay. I heard it once that some people were saying a friend of mine had said I was the gay best friend she had always wanted." this story from Doyoung made the boys laugh out loud.

"So who is gonna pay?" asked Jungwoo after he finished his meal. "Or are we going to order another round?"

"No way. After this, I won't be able to eat for a week." Ten said as he laid back on his seat. "Also, I'm paying for Johnny's meal because of his help so you guys decide yours."

Jungwoo and Doyoung played a few rounds of rock paper scissors to decide who would pay and after the last round, Doyoung lost. Ten and he asked for the paycheck but you could have seen the pain in Doyoung's eyes. Jungwoo just giggled at that and thought of annoying him by asking if he could have had dessert.

It was late in the afternoon so the boys agreed on going back to the dormitory. They became a group of friends as they found similar interests.
Ten went up to his room and found the dorm's door open. He reckoned his roommate has arrived and he was right. He opened the door and found a tall boy packing a few things around. He turned his head towards Ten and gave him a comforting smile.

"Hi!" greeted the boy Ten in Thai as he put his hands together and bowed. Ten did the same Thai greeting towards his roommate. He was really happy to hear Thai words after some time.

"What's your name?" asked the new Thai boy.

"Chittapon Leechaiyapornkul but just call me Ten," said Ten for at least the tenth time.

"Mine is Kunpimook Bhuwakul and my nickname is Bambam," answered Bambam.

The two boys seem to get along after they both knew they were even from the same town, despite the fact that Bambam was one year above his roommate.
Ten was already ready for the year to start, not caring about his intense timetable that would be usable the next day.
