Sunnyflight

Okay.

I'm gonna say it.

Fatespeaker is a backup.

There. I said it.

For real though, when I read The Dark Secret for the first time, I couldn't help but be annoyed by her. She didn't serve any purpose other than a love interest for Starflight when Sunny turned him down. Why she turned him down, no idea. I'm fine with the idea of a single Sunny, but to be honest, I think she and Starlight would work out if they tried- and Sunny is just the kind of dragon that should really have a partner, and a good one.

And I am 100% sure that whoever Tui is introducing as her love interest, will be a backup as well.

And Starspeaker, oh, no.

Please, no.

Fatespeaker has the mental age of a hatchling.

And here we see Starflight spitting out smart adult level vocabulary and maturity.

And you're telling me they're paired.

REALLY?!

I thought I had more faith in Tui to write basic romance, but I guess not. This is one of the most forced ships I have ever read about. You cannot just have two random characters fall in love. They have to work out. And while some might say that they can bring out the best in each other, I solidly believe Starlight could work out better with Clay.

So, basically, what we have here, is Starflight seriously loving Sunny for all of his life. She says no, but then starts to have feelings for him? Then... this random dragons who I thought was a lot younger than Starflight at first simply because of her very childish and immature personality, gets paired with my boi. AND THEN YOU MAKE A BACKUP FOR SUNNY TOO?! What?!

Why, oh why, are we making chemistry between two characters that could work out pretty well together, then make backups so they won't be alone? What is this? How does this make any sense?!

To be honest, Sunnyflight used to be one of my favorite ships, but now I realize my hate for Starspeaker is stronger than my love for Sunnyflight. Starspeaker is, in my opinion, one of the worst parts of WoF, even though it may just be background drama at this point.

That being said, I really do want to see more of our original Dragonets of Destiny. I loved them all, and just the original arc in general. And this would force Tui to see that these two are just not at all right for each other. At all.

But I want to hear your thoughts! What do you think about Sunnyflight? Tell me in the comments!
