Chapter Thirteen
Nino was worried about Adrien, that Adrien was certain of. He wished he could do something, but he was sent home after Nino took him to the nurse's office. Inside the limousine, with Gorilla driving him home, he held an ice pack over his eye. It was bruising quickly, no doubt about that, but with his enhanced healing he got from his miraculous, the swelling had stopped quickly and was already beginning to go down. In a day or two, the bruise would be completely gone, vanished as if it was never there to begin with.
Gorilla opened the door for Adrien to be greeted by a disappointed looking Nathalie.
"Adrien, your father would like to have a word with you." And Nathalie left without another word, which hurt Adrien more than any of the words he was bound to get from his father. As soon as he stepped into the mansion and closed the gigantic door behind him, he noticed his father standing at the top of the stairway.
"Adrien." Gabriel addressed him, getting his attention. "I heard you got in a fight today, school." Adrien knew his father's act of remaining calm and civil was going to end quickly, and he was right. "How could you fight with that boy?! Now you have a bruise on your face, and Nathalie is going to have to cancel everything on your schedule! You've disgraced the Agreste family name!"
"Yeah, well, I seem to be doing that a lot lately." Adrien didn't even register that he had said what he was thinking until he saw the astonished look on his father's face. "Dad, I didn't mean to-"
"Go to your room. I don't want to see your face for the rest of this evening." Gabriel turned around and walked back to his office, anger radiating off of him. Adrien quietly walked up the stairs, walking to his room. When he locked the door, Plagg came out of his bag to pat him on the back.
"You okay, kid?"
"I will be once I talk to Marinette." Plagg seemed to understand, considering the fact that he didn't complain as Adrien yelled "Plagg transform me!" The skin tight black leather suit covered his fit body in a flash of green light. He opened his window, hopping out of it, using his baton to make his way to his princess's house.
It was still the middle of the school day, so he took the liberty to let himself in, sitting patiently on her bed. He sat in the same position for hours, unmoving, until he finally heard Marinette's voice. A smile appeared on his face as he prepared to get off the bed until a boy's voice followed Marinette's.
His smile quickly faded as he hid himself under the covers, a frown crossing his face. He was only doing this because he didn't want anyone else to know he was here besides Marinette. It wasn't that he was suspicious of her or anything... Right?
It was such a familiar voice too, a voice Adrien hated.
Jace and Marinette walked into the very pink, closing the trapdoor leading to her room.
"So how is the plan going?" Jace asked immediately after the trapdoor closed.
"Um, it's fine. Chat is in love with me. But..." She drawled as Jace sat in her seat, looking at all the pictures Marinette had up on her wall, paying close attention to the Chat Noir drawing she had framed.
"But what, Marinette?"
"Is Chat Noir really a bad guy?"
"What makes you ask that?" Jace looked at her with an astounded face as she asked her seemingly ridiculous question.
"It's just that, he's really nice to me... He seems to really love me and, everyone says he's a hero and I believe them. He can't be bad, he's too kind, and sweet, and charming..." Chat could feel a grin coming on to his face as his girlfriend said all those sweet things about him, before remembering her asking if he was a bad guy.
"You seem to forget, my Mari, that he is the person responsible for your memory loss. Remember? He was jealous of the relationship you and I had, and to show that you had to be with him, he hit you."
"It doesn't make any sense, now that I look back on it. The doctors said that an akuma knocked me off of the Eiffel Tower and Chat caught me, but I hit my head against the tower."
"Marinette, that was what he told the doctors. They just believed him because he has the whole city wrapped around his finger. But not me though. And I'm afraid that he is starting to get you too..." Chat could feel his anger bubbling up with every bullshiting word Jace spoke. "I have to go now though, Mari. I love you." He kisses Marinette on the lips before they both left her room, Marinette walking him to the front door.
Chat took this as his escape and quickly fled the room, tears threatening to come. His vision became blurry as he ran as fast as he could to his home.
I guess I truly have lost, haven't I?
