Jeon Wonwoo: Even if the world ends tomorrow

What if the world came to an end tomorrow?

This sinister-filled question came straight out of a textbook or movie. Yet, what if it really did appear in front of humanity? People would crowd up in tumultuous chaos, hysteria would cause severe accidents, and nobody would care about one's health or wellbeing.

The lofty infinite sky of today colored in rare prints which indicated that the downfall might happen, scaring the frightened self right out of me. The saccades of my eyes moved to the teared-up pieces of photographic films, the ones that I personally shredded up days ago.

I hated myself in those rapturous periods when you are acting obtuse and not realizing that you should have lived your life normally. My knees bended itself to the ground and towards one photo that was still intact.

Foreheads matched, thick butter yellow dress straps lining my shoulders while the broad upper frame of the man was clothed in a white linen button up. Bluish glowing angled our picture, giving a nostalgic yet mystic vibe to the scene. The photographer was a freelancer, wanting to take one click of us after he found the emotions we were giving to each other immensely beautiful.

We on the other hand felt disgusted, at least the guy counterpart thought so. I mean, we were best friends after all, and the topic called romance was not something that was being considered appropriate. Why did we agree to act that like we actually were a couple, giving the photographer exactly what he wanted which got us a copy to bring home.

Tears escaped my eye corners again, like I had not cried enough for the last couple of days. Breaking up the unconditional friendship for our own good, never thought that this would take us for granted. We both called it off after seeing the circumstances that found ourselves in.

Unfinished pieces of beauteous music, spread over sheets around the room that slowly withered around as if I could hear those melodies fade away. The captivating voice, my voice and his guitar were something that could never be heard in the same space again.

The news showed that so-called shelters were getting jam-packed, mentioning emotionally that people should gather up at the shores with their loved ones because there was no way the earth was going to survive.

Wiping my wet cheeks dry, I mustered up the courage to call the one who taught me the most important thing on this doomed planet. My ringtone suddenly suited the feeling of belonging, swiping the green button with an unclipped nail.

'Hello?'

It took one single greeting to make me run out of my front door, speeding through all the monstruous mess that was getting forged on the streets. The weather had become majorly crude and slovenly, even the puffy clouds were getting prepared for the worst outcome that people feared.

After escaping the controlling officers and guards who did not let anyone outside the town skirts, my ballerina-clad feet reached the beginning of a sandy path that led towards the beach. My pumping heart could even notice him from a fair distance, seated on the ground while his curly black hair got messed up by the unusual wind force.

I strode towards the seashore as I parted my lips to call out to him, beating me to it as he spoke without looking back around. 'I prayed for the first time in my life.'

My slow footsteps arrived at where he was, my linen white dress chilled my whole-body temperature as I engulfed myself warmly in my arms. 'Well, that is a given.'

Diverting my pupils to the right side, I glanced down only to see him with his eyelids closed together while he took one deep breath. 'I know it is ironic, but I do not want to go down like a setting sun. At least, not right now.'

He had probably seen the reports, indicating that the world would go down at today's nightfall. Rephrased, any moment now.

Long hairs got pushed back behind my shoulders as I set a strand behind my ear, squatting down next to him on the sandy place. 'What is wrong with a setting sun? Every day, countless people watch the sunset and marvel at the sight.'

His candid curious stares drilled on the side of my face, my view ignoring them to stare at the waves that started to calm down for a minute. 'You have shone the best you could. And now that the time has come, your sunset will be beautiful. All those people will remember your moment and be with you until the very end.'

Could have sworn that I heard him slightly chuckle, hearing a tiring sigh as I felt the man in specs shifting closer. 'You should have written a song on that topic, we should have. It is a pity that we cannot do that right now.'

We can, is what I genuinely wanted to say to him, but I frankly did not contemplate to show. My mouth opened to talk, the smell of the fresh impetuous sea entered my nostrils. 'I thought about it thousands of times. What would have happened if I did not go up to you that day? You would not be suffering like you are doing right now, Wonwoo.'

Our eyes met when I told him my nettlesome worries, the uneasiness that I bore with for so long now. The reason why he gave up his everything, his career and his family's approval to be with me as the only person I had left in my life, a burdensome of its own.

And that is honestly expectable if your heir decided to rebel, falling in negotiable debt to a college student who barely made amends to supply food or rent.

Wonwoo's arm brushed mine while he spoke his mind in thought trough sentences. 'If that were the case, we would not have met. I felt genuinely angry and wronged at first but come to think of it, what happened was for the best. If you had not woken my true self up and if we had not had the chance to spend time together, I would not have learned about love. Real love.'

The first time, I can remember that vivid moment like it was yesterday. I have no parents, siblings or family left in this world, so busking had to be the only source of income. Multiple record labels had approached to sign a deal with them and swindle me into their unbelievable promises that would be eventually reneged.

That was the description of my daily life until I saw a guy in the university park, one who had a notebook in front of him while strumming the guitar. I could not help myself, greeting the musician without even thinking twice. 'Hey there. Can I perhaps join you?'

His fox-like eyes, which was the first feature that I noticed on his severely handsome face. They broke the contact I had with them, wandering around the park before he continued his strumming spree. 'No. There is enough space anywhere.'

Unfortunate for him, I had the personality to meet every single soul that might shared the same passion for music.

I sat my weight down on the picnic blanket that he apparently had spread out, snatching the notebook while I saw scrabbled lyrics written on it like messed up thoughts. 'Wow, you are the most depressed guy I have ever met. You should think about something more cheerful, or at least a bit more sentimental.'

The disapproving frown crinkled up on his forehead, but it disappeared slowly in seconds. I rumbled through all the ideas I had, making sense of what I was saying until I could not anymore.

His stares were too intense for my liking as I stutter the rest out of my mouth without looking in his direction. 'What are you doing?'

I heard a gasp, signing that he was going to answer my question. 'Mr. Jeon? Your father asked for you.'

A person who surely dressed like a secretary called out for the man with the surname Jeon, reaching us while a critical glance was thrown at me. The guy stood up from where we were seated, me following the suit as I adjusted my clothes swiftly.

Before I could have asked him for an explanation, he pushed a business card into my right hand, leaning in to whisper in my left ear with a deep voice. 'You got to keep this treasure with you for now. Call me when you got your ideas sorted.'

The man abandoned me in a perplex state, glancing down at the notebook that he left and then shifting my eyes to learn the enigmatic person's full name. 'Jeon Wonwoo.'

Of course, I waited and pondered around for a month until I called his number. And without hesitation, he made his way to my cramped appartement where we talked about music for hours.

Why did the meagerness not faze a wealthy guy like him? He was strangely blinded, the piercing spark of affection led him to take impulsive decisions. Wonwoo did not meet his obligated duties where he was to become the next Chairman of the biggest cooperations in the city.

In fact, he even forgot about his childhood lover Ayun, who waited long for him to return to his basis. I liked her, having met her several times on various occasions and I genuinely supported how they were together.

Still, that did not stop Wonwoo to spend time with his best friend.

When his parents found out why his son was always missing in action, they decided to meet up with the one who caused the inconvenience. The talk was overly demeaning, Wonwoo barging in and taking me by the wrist after swearing he would not ever act to their according.

It hit me back then, I took something away that he was destined to be without his knowledge. Parents are parents after all, they always want the best outcome no matter what you do, and I am saying that without the experience of this wonderful thing whatsoever.

What I did see was that Wonwoo broke piece by piece every day, hiding behind that sweet smile he gave me when he moved in. Not having the ultimate power to withstand the pressure and my evident feelings, I selflessly broke my dear friendship off in order to make Wonwoo happy.

And he immediately understood why I did that, leaving the shared appartement at instant to see Ayun.

After hearing his reliable words, I folded my legs together to sit more straightly to ask the obvious result of what I had done. 'Wonwoo, you were supposed to be with Ayun now, right? Why are you here and not with her?'

Knowing the answer deep down my dry throat, Wonwoo answered with another question. 'Why would I? I lost my one and only best friend because of those morals. Without that companion, my life was going to be miserable anyway.'

My teeth gritted together in slight annoyance as I wanted to slap some sense into my former best friend. 'What do you mean? You cannot let her wait anymore. Come, let's go and find her before it is too late!'

Forming my grip around his left bicep in attempt to move him, Wonwoo halted me by placing his hand above mine right one. 'Again. Why would I? Ayun broke up with me. Too.'

My eyes grew big in astonishment, hearing this news was probably more devastating than what was coming for us today. 'What? How? Why? I am going to call her for you.'

I reached for my phone in the pocket of my knitted cardigan, but I stopped my tracks when I suddenly felt Wonwoo cupping my cheeks. 'Stop trying so hard! I am done with you acting so ignorant. Can't you see what you have done to me? You are making this a lot tougher than it should be. Do you know what, I am just going to lay the truth down for you. I freaking love you!'

Peeking up to his face that was inches apart from mine now, his fox-like eyes were everything but misleading. A trembled voice left my mouth as I could not comprehend this situation. 'Are you deadly serious right now?'

Wonwoo did not intend to direct his gaze in any other direction, holding my face even more carefully. 'Do I look like I am lying to you?'

Mumbling a rapid refusal, he shifted one hand to set the long strands hiding my feature behind the left ear. 'Then listen to me. I always wondered. If the last night of the world were to come, what would I be able to do for you?'

Jeon Wonwoo, what are you doing to me? My brains were working through all sorts of comparable questions, getting thus mixed up that it cells screamed various emotions.

His beam appeared timidly, making me mirror it unintentionally as he pointed with his right index finger. 'That absolutely blinding smile. If I could hold onto that, that last chance. Even if the world ends tonight girl, I just want to cherish what we have, our "now".'

Shifting my eyes downwards to my leg that was brushing his, I shyly asked for his thought. 'Why did you not confess earlier? I thought that my affection towards you was pretty obvious and thus foreseeable.'

Wonwoo's right hand grabbed mine that were fidgeting with one another. 'Because I thought you only saw me as a friend.'

Mother Nature chose another outcome for us, being grateful for what I had achieved and thanking the one who helped me immensely as I took my right hand out of his hold to hit him on his chest. 'There is a difference between friendly and flirty vibes, you idiot. Nevertheless Wonwoo, you are the one who saved me. Thanks to you, I lived a life that made my heart beat again.'

I let my head fall on his broad left shoulder, Wonwoo grabbing me closer to his body as he hugged my waistline from behind. 'Likewise. Thanks to you, I now know what kind of love makes your heart beat in that way.'

The horizontal split of sunray had made place in the predawn sky, an ambiguous sphere engulfing around us as the doom had might already started to roll out. 'Thank you too Wonwoo. For showing up in my life and for teaching me what it means to love and to be loved.

Normally the sun would go under, but there was a new path as the planet went in circles like it was creating some sort of delusion. Wonwoo moved my face towards him, leaning in as he whispered his heartfelt confession. 'I love you.'

My eyes would not close, not wanting to lose a single second I have left with the one I was glad to meet in this life. 'I love you too, Wonwoo.'

His lips placed on mine, softly but eagerly tender as we moved together. I pulled him closer by his black zip-up hoodie as he moved his right hand to my nape. You could say that we kissed like there was no tomorrow, but in this case that was the only truth forsaken to tell. Wonwoo left my shivering lips for a second, placing a small kiss on my nose to lean against each other.

Our one last vision together...

Ai, ai, ai,

I cried while writing this one...lol

This is for all the readers who rather read ones where they can really imagine themselves with their idols.

Inspirations for this imagine:

- 今 -明日 世界が終わっても- (Ima -Even if the world ends tomorrow-) by Seventeen

- Heartbeat (Kdrama starring Ok Taecyeon and Won Jian)

- Tomorrow (Kdrama starring Rowoon, Kim Heesun, Lee Soohyuk and Yoon Jion)

I honestly used a lot of my own thoughts on this topic, like literally what I would do when this would happen.

Wonwoo, thank you for making my every day brighter <3

Love,
