Choi Seungcheol: Fight and Heal

A long-exasperated sigh left my dry lips, my back muscles hurt temporarily from sleeping in the wrong position the other night. Typing in diagnoses with all those white-lettered black computer keys, the unpaid back-office work for which I volunteered genuinely wanted to make me quit my beloved job at this point.

As I walked out of the bedroom door with one hand occupied by an opened-up laptop, my eyes met the game-playing man on an army-green beanbag. The frown on his forehead spilled the tea that I should not interfere with whatever was going on the phone screen, hiding myself quickly back behind the wall.

However, as soon as I had stepped out from the barrier separating us, the smile suiting his rosy lips betrayed the fact that he noticed my busy demeanor. 'Are you done changing your clothes? And why are you standing behind there? I will not chew you up.'

Biting my lips instead, I made the worst excuse that could ever been made up while walking towards where the man was sitting down. 'I am working on the patient files. What are you doing?'

As upon hearing my rational yet redundant question, Seungcheol immediately met eye as he smiled even more brightly. 'Me? I am playing games.'

This is the usual routine in our newly established relationship. While I am working my ass off everyday, this man got enough leisure time to waste. I will not blame him for that though, being a professional kickboxer is painful enough. These are probably the only moments that he got for his own hobbies, and I am not the one who wanted to stop him from enjoying it while it lasts.

Reminiscing about the first time I met Seungcheol, a curly haired male appeared with pretty eyes but displaying a blueish eyelid, bruised lips and a broken arm. Yes, I met this man in the infirmary where I work as an ED attending physician.

Sparks hit the highest point when Seungcheol insisted on dating after coming to the hospital for the umpteenth time, just to meet the doctor that stole his stone-cold heart. 'Haeun-ah, let me tell you something. I beat up people and you heal them, a match made in heaven.'

The cotton wool with normal saline was dabbed onto the wound that fitted right onto his eyebrow, flinching as the solution might have irritated a bit. 'Ouch! You did that on purpose, didn't you?'

I chuckled mockingly while dressing the wound, avoiding his contagious stares at all costs. 'My bet is that you told this to all the nurses in the ER. I have heard them talking Seungcheol.'

The kickboxer let a snicker roll of his bruised lips while he explained the highly visible behavior. 'No, that was just to pursue them to give your number.'

My eyeballs made a tumble while I moved the sliding door open after being done with what actually would be the work of a nurse, murmuring a slight discomfort. 'Wow, lame.'

Footsteps were created behind me, shoving me to the left side while Seungcheol glanced back at me. 'I can scream it to anyone here.'

And just before he even produced that alleged noise, my left hand slapped on his mouth as I prevented Seungcheol from doing on what he was scheming. The kickboxer removed my hand from his lips, holding it like a gentleman while he gazed carefully into my eyes. 'So, will you go out with me or not?'

In that singular moment, both of us perceived our written destiny and we decided to walk on that flowery road together. The newly-wed phase was still on sight, taking the six months that we have been getting to know one another into consideration.

My bashful smile beamed towards the guy wearing a black dress shirt plus black slacks as he came to my place from a press conference an hour ago. 'Is that the game you were playing before?'

Nodding his head to confirm my suspicions, he reached out with his left hand while focusing mindlessly on the screen. 'Come here and play the game with me.'

I obviously pondered, but that hesitation disappeared within a second when I grabbed his hand. Seungcheol led my body between his muscular legs, sliding his trained arms around my waist as he engulfed me in a comforting hug.

His deep voice tickled my right ear shell, shifting the phone into my hands while he still held mine captive. 'Have you ever tried gaming before?'

My eyes encountered his face for a momentarily period as Seungcheol raised his thick eyebrow in a teasing manner. I shook my head in clear denial, freezing by the way he set his cheek against mine. 'Ah, a first timer right here. Do not worry, I am here to show what a real game player does.'

Although I tried my utter best to pay attention to his detailed instructions, my eyes kept on daring to cross the line over. 'The first skill...Shoot...Shoot outwards...The second skill is called range.'

And both of my sight organs did indeed border, shifting my head slowly to the right side. His long eyelashes that I am so jealous off, the silvery earrings that he puts in whenever he is out of the ring and of course the deep dimples which I am honored to notice from such a close distance.

Now that I think about it, those only appear when he is grinning. 'Baby, I am teaching you now. Please pay attention.'

Rosy hues appeared on both of my cheeks, shifting the device completely into my hands as I shyly looked away. 'You can try it now. Here.'

I could not crack further than taking the phone in my hands. Seungcheol's arms hugged my body increasingly tight, leaning his chin on my right shoulder while he acted ignorant. 'Purchase the equipment and attack them with the skills I just taught you.'

Pushing random buttons on the screen, the clumsiness was undeniable from my end. Especially when someone is making my dumb self sprung out. Seungcheol was staring at my face the whole time, nudging his nose slightly through my silky hair.

That action made me peek him in the eye, showing me his toothy smile while he ruffled my hair up. 'I told you to focus Haeun-ah. Where is that concentration you have while you treat your patients?'

We played the game for a while, laughing and forgetting our professional duties. The game came to a loose end, not knowing what to do as I asked the one who had the studied knowledge. 'What should I do now?'

He swiftly looked between me and the screen. 'Ah, run! Run...'

The game screen showed a "game over" sign, suggesting that I might have screwed up as expected. Seungcheol took the device from my hands, talking into my right ear as he ensured derisively. 'It is fine baby. You did very well.'

His familiar chuckling filled the entire room, turning embarrassed by his sarcasm as I tried to stand up from the bean bag. 'Yeah sure. I will get us some snacks. Do you also want a cup of green tea?'

Attempting to stand up failed miserably, my long hair hauled me back as the strands got apparently stuck somewhere. My knees met the soft carpet as I turned my head around, overseeing the place where it got entangled which was his shirt button to be exact. 'Ouch! Wait, let me check.'

I got busy focusing on the problem, feeling Seungcheol's left hand on my head that shifted me closer to decrease the pain. I could feel his dark sparkly eyes all over me, knowing that he was grinning from ear to ear now. 'No rush Haeun-ah.'

The only way that I could solve this math equation was by doing something I would have never asked in my entire life. Yet this time, the world left me no other choices or options. 'I...Can I undo the button?'

My whispering voice trembled a bit, looking up as I met his beautiful dark eyes. Seungcheol nudged a yes without smiling as I looked down again, not realizing that the man was inching closer. My fingers worked their way through, unbuttoning his shirt while I fidgeted my hair out.

I did not gaze up at all, not even when I felt his finger shoving my bangs out of the way. 'Done! So, do you want yo...'

And before I could finish my sentence, his soft lips met mine for the first time. Yes, when we said to each other to take it slow, we actually meant it. His lips kissed my upper lip, my eyes widened in shock as he let go for a bit.

Seungcheol backed a little away, staring sweetly into my eyes while making his lips place on mine again. His muscular arms pulled me back onto his lap, kissing me with more love and affection than before.

Eagerly giving the same amount of adoration, I moved along with him and his lips that did all the work. We caught up with our breathes after putting a stop to the loving manner, him looking upwards as I shyly moved away.

My heartbeat drummed to a fast-forwarding song while he halted me from going. Before he could tug me closer again, I held his face with both hands as my brows frowned at the sight. 'Oh my god Seungcheol, you are bleeding again.'

The new scar on his right cheek opened up, preparing myself to rush up to grab the emergency kit. However, the muscular arms stopped me from going, talking against my lips as Seungcheol smirked. 'Haeun-ah, you can heal it with your kisses...'
