#168 "Unlimited Misunderstandings" last part
“When I heard from (Y/n) that some guy does like her, I felt awful.”
“Then dude, you’re jealous.”
“No. I don’t think so. That’s impossible because (y/n) for me, is just a friend, a neighbor. Nothing more, nothing less.”
“Hoshi, have you ever seen a guy getting jealous with that kind of excuse?”
“Well, maybe I am the first one?”
“Idiot fella. You are misunderstanding your own feelings.”
Thinking that you are just a friend, is that really Hoshi’s biggest misunderstanding?
It might be.
The news of yours and Hoshi’s recent break up has spread around the campus. It was as fast as the time when everyone heard about the slapping mosquito incident. If there is someone who might be celebrating over this news, then it is definitely Kim Mingyu.
“Who put this canned orange juice on my table?” you asked to everyone inside the faculty room.
No one admits. Even Hoshi who was standing beside the Xerox copy machine while looking at you and the canned juice you are holding.
“Did you?” you mouthed to him but he declined with a shaking of his head.
Isn’t it obvious? If this wasn’t Hoshi’s doing then it could be that handsome student who confessed his feelings for you last week!
Having that thought, you wrinkled your nose and rolled your eyes as you stood up with a groan, “That darn kid.”
Professor Kwon has watched you furiously walked out. After you left, he heaved a sigh. Teachers noticed their poor co-worker’s behavior so therefore started asking questions:
“Are you okay professor Kwon?”
“Professor (Y/n) looks unbothered at all. Right?”
“It wasn’t that long since you guys admitted your relationship. So why did you suddenly break up?”
“Isn’t it awkward to work together with your ex?”
“Don’t stress yourself too much Hoshi. Okay?”
Usually, girls always receive comfort more frequently than men. So Hoshi is wondering why they have to share empathy with him when he is the man.
“Comforting me is kinda over reacting,” he giggled. Scratching his fluffy cheek in embarrassment, he continued, “You guys are being biased to me and to (Y/n).”
“We are comforting you because between the two of you, you look more heart broken,” one explained followed by nods of those who shared the same idea.
‘I am not heart broken. Maybe, they misunderstood me,’ Hoshi misunderstood himself again with this thoughts.
Yet he still asked, “Do I really look like that?” he changed the intonation at the end of his sentence to look cool.
Sympathizers have exchanged glances at each other. They shrugged their shoulders as if Hoshi was asking if water is liquid or if fart is a gas. His question isn’t dense, thus asking it is like stealing sense then leaving nonsense in the conversation. So they turned their backs and continued their own chores.
Professor Kwon then brought the topic inside his head in difficulty: ‘What if I misunderstood myself? What if I really like her?’
There’s no need to complicate things (And I think readers will think that our protagonists are just making this story long).
All Hoshi needs is to find the obvious answer by himself. How?
He dashed out the faculty room with the intention of following you. It is hard to accept but he guessed that if you’ll appear in front of him then the answer might come. It should. Or else he will put another all-nighter thinking about you like how he have suffered last night.
When he stepped into the entrance of the school’s rooftop, he bent his knees and dropped his hands on it. Catching his breath, he lifted his eyes to the place where he guessed you and Mingyu might be at.
It’ll be troublesome to meet a student recklessly and Hoshi knows that you are not dumb to do so.
(The three of you are dumbs in another way though)
About to step in, he heard voices he expected to get that stop him on this point.
“Really?” a gasp from you.
“Yes,” Mingyu answered in a way that seems he’s in a big trouble. “Professor Kwon likes me. I think he only dated you so he could hide this fact.”
Remaining worldless, you and Hoshi turned really pale.
Then Mingyu added few more words, “Good job in breaking up with him Professor (Y/n). After I graduate from college, I’ll pursue you even more. Then, the two of us… I mean… y-yeah, we can… y-you know, ahmmm…”
“Wait a minute. This information is hard to process,” you cut his words. “G-Give me some time to think about this sh*t.”
There were footsteps coming towards Hoshi. In a snap, you two are standing face to face at each other.
‘Student Kim Mingyu thought that I like him?! What the heck! I admit that I was wrong in accusing him the same problem but I couldn’t believe he’ll think it the other way around!’ Hoshi shouted inwardly.
‘So Hoshi likes Mingyu all along? I’ve been fooled,’ you cursed inside your heard while looking at him.
When Hoshi heard Mingyu’s footsteps, he pulled you and hid behind the door together. Your clumsy suitor pressed the opened door firmly as he passed by so the back of the door hit your forehead.
“Ouch!” you winced without sounds.
Finally the two of you alone (with you having red marks on your forehead).
Hoshi starts explaining himself, “(Y/n), listen…”
But you pushed him away and accused, “You gay. You didn’t date me because you like me, did you?!”
He stayed silent. He couldn’t deny it because that was really the case at first. But how about now? How about now when he could feel his heart beats moving up and down? How about now when he has the urge to kiss you again while looking at your lips?
“Silent means yes,” you murmured before you firmly bit your lower lip.
At last, Hoshi found the answer.
“Action speaks louder than words,” He uttered. A sharp inhale came after. Staring at you with his fierce eyes, he pinned you on the wall and kissed you without hesitation.
This time it wasn’t because he’s mad.
This kiss isn’t a misunderstanding just like before.
“H-Hoshi,” you mumbled as your cheeks kissed rose in pink.
His hand went on your back, pulling you closer again while his other hand is at your side and on the wall. With a little tilting of his head and opening of his mouth, he slammed his lips on yours. You then granted him an access by closing your eyes and kissing back.
School always filled noises during working hours, but at the rootop, noises are faint. Therefore, while the two of you are kissing, you can clearly hear the sounds of your lips collide at each other: the sounds of his sucks, his saliva and his small moans.
“Hmmmm~”
It is resonating around getting louder as time passes by.
When the two of you pulled back to catch air, you shyly looked at him and so he does while cutting your and his saliva with his index finger.
“Oh my gosh,” you inhaled, thinking that he looks so sexy just now.
“I’m straight okay? And I like you, for real. So I changed my mind. Let’s forget our break up deal and just continue dating.” He held your hand and pulled you down the stairway.
That’s how all of the misunderstandings have resolved.
Well, there might be another misunderstanding in the future but fortunately this story has a happy ending.
The end.
Oh wait! There’s one misunderstanding that they didn’t clear!

(6 years later)
Mingyu is looking at a marriage photo post on his Facebook – it is you and Hoshi’s wedding photo. “Professor (Y/n) still looks cute. She seemed so happy right now.”
He stopped then looked up.
“Wait. Then Professor Kwon married her even though he’s a gay? I see,” he nodded while scratching his chin. “He already moved on from me.”
