Legend of the Krittikas and the Disappearing Star

There is a legend that the Krittikas were once a constellation of eight stars.But in 20XX BCE, something unexplainable happened.The star which could be seen at the top right hand corner of the constellation started disappearing.In mid-20XX BCE, the star could be rarely seen,but a few lucky people were able to capture glimpses of its faint twinkle.As the year slipped by, it vanished, never to be seen again.Since then,it is said that the constellation of the Krittikas has seven stars which keep changing their positions every seven years. Sometimes they could be seen in the North, sometimes in the East and so on. It seemed as if the seven stars were trying to find the missing eighth star...

Neither scientists nor astronomers were able to give any proper explanation for this phenomenon. This constellation has always been a centre of interest all round the globe through all these centuries.

This is not just any normal legend.Its timeless and mysterious appeal has always attracted poets, writers, storytellers, travellers,artists,singers, fashion designers, businesspeople, celebrities and all kinds of people holding prestigious positions in the society.

There is also a myth that something will happen sooner or later that will bring the seven stars together, their paths would cross again...till eighth Star returns and regains its initial position.

Currently the Krittikas is a constellation with seven prominent stars surrounded by hundreds of other stars. It depicts the attention demanded by the Seven- in mythology it is said that in each and every birth, these seven stars would have a lot of significance in the society.
