Sans POV

The window was closing fast. Most of the time after Argo had had his turn, It'd stuck between Genesis, Nation, and I to finish the machine with Alphys. Frisk brought them the tools they needed and Undyne helped with the heavy stuff. Papyrus made sure we had three meals a day. "H-how can y-you w-work like this..? I'm exhausted.." Alphys yawned. The two of us were running on three days without sleep. "it's kinda easy when you barely sleep anyways. nightmares and all."
"Is that why your constantly napping?" Undyne asked. "long enough to help us function, short enough to keep the nightmares at bay." Genesis replied. "lets get a.. 3/4 combination wrench." Frisk handed over the tool and he got back to work. "I suppose it helps to raise your HP as well?" We nodded. "now all that need to be done is a diagnostic check! if it goes well, we can free dings today!"
"Th-that's great!" Alphys yawned again. "how about i run the diagnostic, then we take a nap.."
"we cannot rescue the doctor on such little sleep. i apologize for not considering your needs. go on. rest."
"Are you kidding? Sleep is for the weak!" Undyne stifled her own yawn. "sleep is important. after the diagnostic, i'll be taking a nap myself." There was reluctant agreement from Undyne while Frisk and Alphys were already heading upstairs. From there I started the scan.

I'm punching his face in when he gets back. 'No your not.' I wonder if we can work together again, for old times sake? 'Maybe.' I don't know what to think anymore.. I never thought we'd get this far.. 'And we are this far. Don't give up now.' I'm so excited! Diagnostic went well! 'Don't jump the gun yet, we don't actually know what will happen.' You don't think the Void changed him at all.. do you? 'I... don't know.' Lollie? Are you ok..? 'It's ok buddy. We'll be ok.' I'm.. scared.. I dont want daddy to be bad again.. 'Maybe he won't be. We really don't know.'

After a nap everyone went downstairs. "diagnostics went good. everything's stable. everything's ready. all we have to do is start it."
"O-oh wow.. i-i'm going to be meeting my predecessor.. d-do I look ok? S-stars I'm s-so nervous." Undyne grabbed Alphys hand. "Are you kidding? You look amazing!"
"He's.. not going to kill me.. is he?" Frisk asked. "should be to distracted by the sight of pap and i to even think about it. k i'm starting it now." A hum resounded as it booted up. It should be ready in 5..4..3..2.. "one." We waited. Nothing's happening? I don't understand. Something should be happening. "calm down guys it might take some-" a black oval shape opened up, spitting something out before closing again. "time.." That was anticlimactic. It's him! Nation took off, checking Dings as he struggled to sit up, gasping. "dad! are you ok!? your stats look normal, hp is good- your soul?"
"F-fine.." He panted as he looked up. "Sans..?" Nation smiled my usual smile, playing it off as me for now, as not to overwhelm him. "heya old man, hope i didn't keep you waiting to long.." That was a terrible joke. Screw you. Dings laughed despite. "Only what felt like eons. Care to give me a hand." I snorted. Papyrus groaned. "SO THAT'S WHERE HE GETS IT.. PLEASE DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM.." Dings was caught off guard. "Pap-Papyrus..? You've.. grown so big.." Thank you! I've done my absolute best with him! We helped Dings over. "shall we do introductions in the house?"

After we got Dings on the couch and everyone situated, I started. Knowing him the best, I figured why not. Papyrus sat on the couch with him while Undyne and Alphys brought chairs in from the dinning table to sit. Frisk was hiding behind the stair rail. "so you already know pap and i. this is dr. alphys, the new royal scientist."
"Greetings Doctor. It is a pleasure to meet you." Dings dipped his head in greeting. "her girlfriend and head captain of the royal guard, undyne."
"Sup old nerd."
"undyne." Argo hissed. "Sh-shit.. sorry.." Argo still made her nervous. I could understand that. Dings gaze flickered between us. "It's.. a pleasure. My you make a lovely couple."
"Th-thank you, Dr. Gaster!" Alphys beamed. I cleared my nonexistent throat. "this is frisk." Dings glowered at them and Judge took a step towards him. "You will not, i repeat, not touch that human. they are under my supervision and only i can judge them accordingly. as of now, i'm under oath by the queen to protect them. understand?" Dings was taken aback. "The queen asked you to protect it?"
"yes. so i shall until it proves a threat to our civilization. right frisk?" They nodded. I stepped back. "with that all said and done.. welcome back, dings!" He groaned. He did NOT miss the nickname.

Eventually everyone left. They had jobs, sleep to catch up on, etc. Dings was watching me closely. "Papyrus.. does anything seem off about Sans?" He tilted his head. "I DON'T THINK SO.. WHY?" Dings shook his head. "I don't know. Something just seems.. off."
"PERHAPS YOU SHOULD ASK HIM? NOBODY KNOWS SANS BETTER THEN HIMSELF. NOT EVEN YOU." Papyrus left Dings with that, disappearing into the kitchen to cook.
