My turn once more? 'Yeah. Pretty much. Maybe ya can show them around the lab or something?' Show them the machine! Or don't.. We shall see.

Sleep never comes easy. When has it ever? A two o'clock wake up call had me in a cold sweat as I shot out of bed, a trembling mess. As a scientist, nothing should faze me, but I am still Sans, if only a part of him. I, in particular held no bias towards the old man or the human. Frisk's determination and ability intrigued me and I had nothing but respect for Dr. Gaster. But there was still Sans' trauma I, we, had to endure. I took a shower to calm myself, recompose myself. After of which I slipped on my white t-shirt, lab coat, black cargo pants, and steel toe boots. With a little tape, I got my glasses in place and went to work on the machine, until Papyrus woke. I was supposed to 'hang out' with him after all. Get him to 'know me'. An interesting notion really. I was Sans. We were all Sans. You'd think he'd know his brother, and yet their were special circumstances to which nobody truly ever knew Sans at all. Only bits and pieces. I chuckled. Interesting indeed. I finally shortcutted to the basement to get some work done.

I wasn't aware of how much time had passed until my phone started ringing. I huffed and cleaned as much rust and oil off of myself as I could before answering. "this is genesis. how may i help you?"
"GENESIS! WHERE ARE YOU? YOU'VE BEEN GONE FOR HOURS!" I could hear another voice raging in the background, along with another, trying to calm the first down. I could only assume it was Undyne and Alphys. "hours..?" I checked the time to see that it was nearly noon. "my how the time flies. i apologize papyrus, i was not aware that it was that late already. i'm in the basement. you can access it through the door behind the house. i should have left it unlocked this time around."
"

BASEMENT? OH RIGHT! YOU'D SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THE BASEMENT BEFORE!"
"correct."
"WE ARE ON OUR WAY, NYEH HEH HEH!" With a click he hung up. Well I could have come to him as well, but I really didn't want to leave,  and I'm sure they were all curious about our 'secret' lab. I hummed and got back to it, replacing some circuitry, replacing or oiling the broken or worn areas, taking measurements, etc.

~~~
"O-oh wow.." I peeked my head out to see they'd finally gotten down here. Perhaps the Door was locked? If that was the case that meant Undyne broke it down.. and that meant I'd need to replace it. I sighed. "welcome to the lab." I stood from my spot next to the machine. "i'm sorry for the messy state i'm in, but i have been rather busy."
"THAT'S OK! I'M GLAD YOU HAVE HOBBIES.." He was probably thinking on Drift. "do not worry on drift. he will be ok when we get this fixed." I patted the machine. "That's it? The thing your trying to save whatshisface with? It looks like shit." Undyne commented. "for now. but perhaps with some assistance we can get it back to good as new and get it working once and for all?" Alphys perked in interest. "C-could I? Could we?"
"it is what i was implying, yes. besides, you did tell drift you would help."
"We did!" Frisk stated. "Tell us what to do and it will be done!" I chuckled once more. "the blueprints are on the counter over there. let me know if there is anything you don't understand."
~~~

There.. was a lot that Papyrus, Undyne, and Frisk didn't understand. How could they? They'd never majored in mechanics, quantum physics, or souls and magic. Yes that was actually a science in the Underground. So while Alphys got to work almost immediately, except for the parts that were in wingdings that I'd read to her, I tried to get them to understand the basics so they'd at least have a gist of what we were doing. If anything, I could always use a runner to fetch Alphys and I some tools, a cook to make sure we got proper nutrition, and someone to do the heavy lifting when needed. These three more or less fit that bill. "I'M AFRAID I'M STILL NOT UNDERSTANDING, GENESIS. I'M A MONSTER OF HEALING SCIENCES, NOT... THIS." Oh? It seemed that Sans didn't know Papyrus either. 'Healing sciences? I didn't know that Pap was into any sort of science.' The miracle of learning. "that could just as well come in handy, papyrus. We will need someone to check the doctors health when he is free. you will be the skeleton for the job."
"REALLY?"
"yes really." He did something of a happy dance as he found that he could, in fact, be useful. It made me smile as I returned to work, happy that he was happy.
