SDS3 32: THE PRINCE OF PRIDE
"NO! I WILL NOT let you enter that room! Not in my goddamn life!" Sunggyu shouted with his full might. He gripped on his weapon so hard his hand started to produce fire. His demonic wings appeared, and at that moment, he transferred his power on his sword.
Sunggyu was about to hit his sword on the ground to produce a strong force that would throw away anyone that was surrounding him. But as he was about to do so, the door of the prayer room suddenly swung open. It was such a strong force that all the spiders were thrown away from it.
Sunggyu immediately dispersed his power and went back to normal.
Everything was suddenly silent as black smoke started oozing out of the prayer room. Hyunseung and Taeil ran to where Sunggyu was. The three brothers held onto each other as a strong wind gust out of the room.
Sunggyu immediately held onto his brother's shoulder as he felt his chest tightening. Hyunseung and Taeil could feel it too, and they couldn't help but tremble as they watched the black smoke slowly disperse.
"D-Do you feel that...my brothers?" Sunggyu asked, tears now falling from his eyes.
Hyunseung and Taeil didn't answer, but eyes covered in bloody red suddenly appeared in the darkness. And the three immediately went down on their knees to show their undying respect to the awakened demon in front of them.
"Our Prince of Pride...has finally returned," Sunggyu stated as the prince of pride finally stepped out of the prayer room.
Everyone felt a strong presence.
The ghouls and demonic monsters who were attacking suddenly stopped. But before they could even see who the owner of that strong presence was, Kwon Jiyong widened his arms, releasing a very strong black force that caused all the monsters and ghouls to disperse in an instant.
Sunggyu, Hyunseung, and Taeil looked at the scene with complete shock. Their brother just killed the enemies with one hit that they were left speechless. They thought that Jiyong was finally going back to normal, but Jiyong continues to stay on his demonic form as he started walking out of the Holy Home.
"J-Jiyong?" Sunggyu asked confusingly as Jiyong walked past them like Jiyong didn't even see them.
"Jiyong's going berserk!" Suho shouted as he ran out of the prayer room to warn his brothers. Kharon, Seunghyun, and Dongmin followed behind him.
"You have to wake him. He's still not himself!" Dongmin explained to the brothers.
Sunggyu cursed under his breath as he and his two brothers stood up from the floor.
"He's too strong that I felt afraid of him. His demon blood is taking over him. If you guys don't do anything now, Jiyong will bring chaos to the world himself without the king of hell's help." Dongmin tells them, and the brothers immediately ran out to follow their awakened brother.
Jackson, who transformed back into his human form after transforming into a ram earlier, looked at the area with shock. He was covered in blood because the wild boar that he was fighting exploded right in front of him. He knew the reason why. He felt the black force that killed the monsters around them. No demon could be strong enough to do that other than a SS Ranked Demon. And that SS Ranked Demon is none other than...
"Brother..." Jackson says when he saw Jiyong walk towards him.
The moment he saw him, Jackson couldn't help but tear up from happiness. But he soon realized that something was wrong with him by how he stared back at him.
"Jackson! Take cover!" Someone suddenly shouted.
Jackson squinted his eyes and saw the Arcs running towards him. But when he looked back at Jiyong, Jiyong was already in front of him. He suddenly swung his weapon towards Jackson, throwing Jackson to the side. If Jackson wasn't able to transform into his demonic form, he could have hit a wall so hard his bones would have broke, but thanks to his wings, he was able to stop the impact.
"Jackson!" Mark shouted as he was about to run towards his lover, but Woohyung stopped him.
"Don't get too close to them you idiot! Jackson barely blocked Jiyong's attack. Do you want to die?" Woohyun asked Mark angrily.
"W-what's happening to Kwon Jiyong?" Lay asked next, his legs shaking because of the strong presence the prince of pride was emitting.
"He's not himself. He's in full demon mode. He's been dead for so long that he forgot about who he really is." Junhyung answered, feeling the terror that the rest of the Arcs were feeling as well.
"Arcs!" Dongmin - their guardian- called out as he arrived with Seunghyun and Kharon.
"You have to step back. You won't be able to block him if he tries to attack you." Kharon warned them.
"Let the Demons handle it. We need to be at a safer distance away from here." Seunghyun added.
Junhyung didn't want to leave the deadly brothers, but he knew that Seunghyun and Dongmin were right. If they stay here, Jiyong might detect them and try to kill them. If that happens, they will definitely be slaughtered.
"Arcs, we have to go." Junhyung finally commanded, "We are not abandoning them again, but this is a battle that they have to face alone. We'll come back once the coast is clear." The angel's leader added when he saw the unsure faces of his members.
"Alright." Mark and the rest finally agreed.
"Good luck Demons." He whispered as he and the rest of the angels teleported away from the chaos.
"I'll escort my kids to a safer place. Will you be okay here?" Dongmin asked Kharon.
Kharon didn't even hesitate as he answered, "Jiyong is their brother. Whatever happens, he will remember them."
Dongmin nodded his head in understanding before teleporting away with the rest of the Arcs.
When the Arcs' guardian was gone, Kharon looked back at the Demons and took a deep breath. He was about to join them, but he then remembered something, "I should wake the prince of Gluttony first." He says before running back inside the Holy Home.
As the Arcs made their escape, the Demons ran towards Jiyong who was walking towards Jackson with a menacing grin. They don't exactly know why Jiyong was attacking him, but the Demons have a feeling that since Jackson's strength is close to his, Jiyong automatically thought of him as a great threat.
"This is bad," Suho stated as he and the rest of his brothers continued to run towards their two strongest brothers.
Thankfully ghouls and demonic monsters weren't appearing anymore. It's either they're too scared to face Kwon Jiyong, or the King stopped sending them because he knew he was too late.
Jackson, on the other hand, was still composing himself after Jiyong's first attack. He held the spot where Jiyong struck him. It was bleeding, but the pain was tolerable. He took a deep breath and saw Jiyong walking towards him with a smirk.
Jiyong was gripping on his weapon, ready to attack Jackson again.
Jackson didn't know what to do that he summoned his claw-like weapon instead. If things go bad, Jackson has no choice but to attack back.
"Jiyong! Stop!" Sunggyu shouted as the Demons finally arrived at the scene.
"Why are you attacking your brother?!" Sunggyu continued to shout, and for a second, Jiyong stopped.
"I-It's working. He can still hear us." Taeil said when he saw how Jiyong reacted.
Even though it was a quick reaction, it was still a reaction.
The Demons ran to Jackson's side and faced Jiyong. Jiyong was still in his demonic state, but when he saw his five brothers standing in front of him, the black smoke that was surrounding him slowly started to decrease.
Taeil helped Jackson compose himself.
As Jackson draped his arm around Taeil's shoulder for support, he looked back at Jiyong straight in the eye, "I guarded your stupid ass for seven months and this is his how you repay me?" Jackson asked him with a smirk, but deep down, even after being attack by him, he was overwhelmed by the fact that his brother was now standing in front of them. He was so happy he could cry.
But Jiyong was still in his attack mode. If the Demons don't do anything now, Jiyong might permanently become like this and kill everyone who stood in his way.
"What now big brain?" Suho asked as he looked at Taeil, but Taeil just gulped and looked back at Jiyong with fear.
"Jiyong was always scary, but now...he's ten times scarier," Taeil answered instead, making Sunggyu hit his head.
"That's not helping," Sunggyu tells him angrily.
"W-What do we do?" Suho asked.
Before anyone could even think of an answer, Jiyong started walking towards them again, making it harder for the brothers to think. So instead of giving an answer, Sunggyu looked at his brothers and asked, "What have we done for him that will make him remember? What have we-"
Taeil finally had an idea as he cuts Sunggyu off and shouted, "The letter!"
Sunggyu's eyes widened from realization. He wasn't sure if it would work, but he took a deep breath and looked back at his brother seriously before saying out loud, "Prince of Pride. I, Kim Sunggyu, the boy whose flames can burn the coldest hearts, have brought you light."
Jiyong finally stopped walking towards them, surprising everyone. So Suho gulped and immediately joined in, "I, Prince Suho of Greed, the boy with quick feet, has shed tears for you," Suho then stated.
The brothers looked at each other as Jiyong's black smoke was slowly dispersing around him. Whatever they were doing was fucking working.
"A stubborn boy who was born to be selfless has brought you salvation," Jackson says next, and the smoke surrounding Jiyong finally disappeared. But Jiyong was still in his demonic form, so the sons approached him slowly as Taeil added next, "I am the Prince of Sloth, a boy whose bidding is done by others, have seen your undying reflection."
Jiyong's demonic senses were weakening. But as the brothers were approaching Jiyong, the Prince of Gluttony, Lee Minhyuk, finally arrived at the scene with Kharon assisting him.
"Minhyuk!" Hyunseung rejoiced when he saw that his best friend was alright.
Minhyuk was about to say something, but when he saw what his brothers were doing, he quickly joined them. Even though he was still too weak to even move, he tried to say, "I...L-Lee Minhyuk...the boy who is h-hungry for power and greatness...have given you...t-the greatest gift."
Jiyong fell on his knees, dropping his weapon with him. His wings and horns were disappearing now as well. The only thing left was his lifeless red eyes.
Kharon took a step back and watched his princes with watery eyes. Hyunseung was the only one left. The brothers looked at each other, only to realize that they were crying now like their guardian.
Hyunseung took a deep breath and walked closer to Jiyong. When he was now just a few inches away from him, Hyunseung knelt down and gently touched Jiyong's cheek.
"I, the first son, the boy born to love and to be loved, has given you and will continue to give you, more than I could ever give to anyone in this world. Just please...come back to us." Hyunseung softly says.
The brothers waited.
Everything was silent for a second. But then Jiyong looked up at the sky and opened his mouth. It looked like he was shouting something, but instead of sounds, black smoke came out of his mouth as well.
The demons and their guardian took cover.
When it was finally over, Hyunseung, who was kneeling just inches away from Kwon Jiyong, saw something that almost made his heart stop beating for a second. A tear fell from Hyunseung's eye when he saw blood streaming down from Jiyong's own eyes.
"Welcome back...my dear brother," Hyunseung tells him.
Jiyong blinks and looks at Hyunseung confusingly before finally saying, "H-Hyunseung?"
Hyunseung's emotions burst out of him as he grabbed Jiyong for a tight embrace. Hyunseung never imagined that he'd ever hear his brother call his name like that again.
At that moment, everyone remembered Jiyong's death again. The pain that they all felt when he died right in front of their eyes, and how they were all lost when they decided to part ways. The brothers faced so much for the past months, individually and as a group. They faced their own demons, they faced possessed humans, deadly emotions, and thousands of ghouls. They faced all that just for this single moment.
Jiyong was finally alive. He was breathing right in front of them and they didn't even know what to do.
"Can someone pinch me because for some reason I don't think this is real," Taeil says as he just stood there while holding onto Jackson.
Everyone didn't know what to do. But finally, even though he was injured, Jackson removed his arm from Taeil and ran to where Jiyong was to give him his long-awaited embrace.
"Jiyong!" Suho shouted as he ran towards Jiyong as well. Then the rest of the brothers followed, hugging their now reawakened brother. Even Kharon was kneeling to give his respect to him.
Everyone was hugging Jiyong, happy that their brother was back. But one brother was hesitant. He stood on the side, staring at his brothers without saying a single word. Everyone was crying tears of joy, but Sunggyu was crying blood.
Jiyong was alive. But even after having a meaningful talk with Nam Woohyun back in Beijing, he still felt guilty. He felt like he didn't deserve to embrace his brother after what happened to all of them. Because even after everything, Sunggyu still felt the burden as their leader. Because when things fell apart, he was the first to leave, and he hated the fact that until now it haunts him.
Jackson saw Sunggyu standing alone so he broke from the hug and stepped away. The rest of the brothers noticed it too and did the same, leaving Jiyong alone on the floor.
Sunggyu gulped when Jiyong looked at him directly in the eyes.
Sunggyu was about to say something, but Jiyong weakly smiled and spoke first, "Blaming yourself for my death huh? That's so you Kim Sunggyu." He playfully tells his brother, but both he and Sunggyu were crying blood.
"Jiyong..."
"There's no need to torture yourself anymore my dear Sunggyu. You have done enough for me and for our brothers. I have never been prouder. So please...can you stop hurting yourself now?" Jiyong asked, and finally, Sunggyu ran to his brother and gave him the tightest embrace.
"I missed you. I fucking missed you." Sunggyu said as he continued to hug his brother like he was never going to let go of him again.
The demons looked at each other with great happiness. Then, Jiyong looked back at them and opened his arms wider, making the rest of them hug him again.
"Thank you my brothers...thank you."
