SDS2 08: DEMONIC DUMMY II

- KIM JONGIN'S POV -

SUHO? SUHO WAS THE worst. I couldn't remember much about him, but all I know is that I hated him. I wanted him dead. Just remembering his name made me sick. So, what I did was escape. I escaped, took all the money, and went to Japan where I can never see nor hear about that man ever again.

I have been living in Tokyo for two years now. The first few months were good since I still had money to buy food and pay for my rent. But every penny slowly faded, until I was left with nothing.

I tried to look for a job but I end up getting fired since I keep on having fights with mostly everyone. The simple solution now is that I went back to my old self, and that was stealing. And like before, I survived this cruel world because of that skill.

"Ravens? What a joke," I stated as I walked past the enormous headquarters of the group called Ravens. I've heard a lot about this company, and it only makes me laugh just by imagining the things that they're trying to do.

Well, enough about them, I need to get back to work.

I went to the busiest part of Tokyo. People here are too busy talking with their phones, doing I-don't-know what. They're too busy to be cautious about their wallets. I was doing great and was about to call it a day when something unexpected happened.

     "Please! Help us!"

I saw a group of men burning the house of an old woman.

I wanted to ignore it. I wanted to walk away. I thought someone was going to help her, but when I went to stick around for a few more minutes, no one did. So my super annoying self went to the scene.

"What are you guys trying to-" I suddenly stopped when I saw the logo on their coat. They were actually men from the Ravens.

"None of your business," the tall guy replied without even looking at me.

"But you're burning this poor old ladies house!" I shouted as I went in front of him so he could finally look my way, but the man only pushed me away, "This poor old lady you're talking about is a Demon, so leave before we do something to you too."

Wait, did he just fucking say she was a demon? Was he for real?!

"Are you fucking crazy?! There are no such things as demons or angels. That's just something people made up so they could praise and worship someone," I answered, then the man finally looked like he was interested on what I was trying to say to him.

"Then can you explain why we found her seven sons headless inside her house? They were filled with Demonic markings too. Now, tell me if she's not even a bit of a Demon," he answered, almost making my heart stop beating.

When I heard his explanation, something suddenly triggered inside me. Like all the things my mother did to me before flashed right in front of my eyes. My body had no control, so without any warning I went to where the crime scene was.

When I saw the woman being surrounded by some of the Raven men, I quickly pushed the men away and went straight to where the woman was. Without any hint of hesitation, I started beating her. And while I was doing so, I saw her smile, like she was accepting every punch that I was giving her, angering me even more.

The men in black coat were stopping me but I kept on going.

"You fucking die you disgusting woman! You don't even deserve hell! DIE YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE! YOU'RE NOT DESERVING TO BE CALLED A MOTHER!" I shouted at her. Then I slowly stopped as a tear fell on top of her face.

My knuckles were covered in blood. I grabbed her lifeless body and told her, "How could you do this?" As I let go of her, someone suddenly held my shoulder.

"Looks like you've done enough young man," a voice stated.

I wiped my tears with my hand that was now covered in blood. Then I realized as I stared at the lady...I killed her.

"Oh no...t-this can't-" I quickly stood up, tried to wipe the blood off with my shirt, but it only made things worse. I was shaking, terrified with what I just did. People that surrounded us looked at me with fear.

"Bring him to my car," the man commanded. Then two big guys lifted me and dragged me inside a limousine. I was sitting on the right while this guy who looked like the boss, sat on the other side, just right in front of me.

I didn't have any strength to fight. I was still scared. Was he going to send me to jail?

"You weren't angry at that lady, I could see it in your eyes. You were angry at someone else and you busted it out on her, am I right?" he asked.

I flinched when I looked directly into his eyes. He then shifted from his seat and continued, "Don't worry, we were going to kill her anyway. You actually helped us out there."

     "W-What?" I ask with shock.

"I'm Asano Tamo. I'm the head of Ravens." He showed me his hand for a handshake but I only stared at it. He quickly took it back and placed it inside his pockets. He then smiled and continued, "You know what, let's get you cleaned. We'll continue our discussion in my office. Driver, let's go to the headquarters."

"Yes sir," the driver answered. Then we left the place where I killed someone for the first time.

As we were driving away, I could still see the house that was still on fire, and the old lady lifelessly lying on the floor. I knew I wasn't crazy. I was completely sane. But with no doubt I knew that I saw the old lady's head slowly move so she could face our direction.

Then she smirked. She just smirked like she knew I was watching her.  I quickly closed my eyes, and when I opened them...we were already far away.

*****

We arrived at the Ravens headquarters. I've been passing through this building every since I went to Tokyo, but I never really seen the inside. I was covered in blood, but no one stared at me like the people who were at the scene earlier. It was like they've seen something worse than my situation.

"Welcome back Tamo-sama," a man stated as he went in front of us and bowed.

"Usui, bring this man to the washroom and give him some fresh clothes. After that bring him to my office," Tamo instructed.

The man nodded his head, "Yes sir." Then he looked back at me and added, "Please, follow me."

The guy named Usui started walking, so I immediately followed him. I turned back to see where Tamo was going. He went inside the elevator, and when he saw me looking at him, he smirked and waved goodbye as the door of the elevator closed.

We arrived at the washroom. Usui gave me a towel and some fresh clothes.

"I'll just be waiting outside," he stated as he went out of the room. Before he could leave, I heard him say, "Looks like we have another Slayer."

Slayer? What's that supposed to mean?

I brushed the thought away and stripped my clothes. There was a huge mirror that reflected my whole body, I turned around and looked at my back. The scars of what my mother did were still there, and it only made me once again furious.

I went to the shower and cleaned myself up. As the water was pouring down on me I started thinking about the things that happened today, and the things that would happen to ME.

Why am I here? Why did he even bring me here? Is it to pay for the damages I've done? I knew it, I shouldn't have butted into their business. I was already living a normal life; if I didn't pity that sick old woman then this wouldn't have happened to me in the first place.

I clenched on the soap until it was split into two pieces. At that moment I realized I was already taking too long. I closed the shower and dried myself up, and then I wore the clothes and went out to see Usui waiting for me outside.

"Looks like you're done. Let's go then."

Usui started walking again, and so I followed. We went inside the elevator and arrived at the top floor where I pressume is where Tamo's office is.

"The President is inside", Usui stated as he gestured his hand for me to enter. I didn't answer but slowly went inside the enormous office where I saw Asano Tamo standing in front of the window.

"Please sit down," he instructed without even facing my direction.

As I sat down, he sighed and finally looked at me. With his cold eyes he stated, "I know, that you know, why I brought you here. But before we proceed, may I ask for your name?"

     "Kai," I quickly answered.

"Kai, let's see. You went to Japan two years ago. You're a 20-year-old who's still jobless until now. Was almost sent to jail the first week you arrived here. A Korean citizen who had a tough life and might be somehow...how can I say this...tortured by a Satanist mother?" Tamo suddenly asked me with a grin.

I flinched when I heard him say that, but I didn't say a word. Looks like he already knew too much about me.

"I've researched a lot about you "Kai", or should I say, Kim Jong-In. Of course, the last part was just due to observation. How you reacted to that woman already answered everything. And your shirt was too thin, I saw the marks on your back. You're nothing special you know, but with your trauma, you can be one of our greatest weapons," he stated as he slowly sat down.

"I don't understand what you're trying to say," I honestly told him.

"Okay, let me explain something to you. Here in Ravens, all my employees are all somehow related. They're related by experience. Each and every one of them was tortured; everyone has a Demonic symbol engraved on their skin. Some lost an eye. Some lost all their teeth, some...almost died. Ravens, if you don't know yet, hunt Angels and Demons down. For angels, we experiment on them, but sadly until now we haven't found one yet, so we don't concentrate on angels that much. As for Demons, well...we kill them. There are different groups here too...

The Eyes, these people are the ones who go to stakeouts. They check if a person is really showing Demonic Signs, or Angelic signs. They're mostly Catholics.

The Invisibles, they're our spies. They're the ones who follows the suspects 24/7 until we finally have the right evidence we need.

Next are The Blenders, these people blend with our suspect. They act like they do the things that this person does and become friends with them, until they could confess everything to them personally.

And lastly, our top group, the most feared group, the reason why people are afraid of the Ravens. They're The Slayers, the person who kills and finishes the job. They can do whatever they like with the suspect; skin them, burn them, shoot them or even stab them, whatever they choose is allowed. These people are doing their job right because they've experienced the things that these people are doing. These people...are just like you."

Tamo stopped and looked directly into my eyes as he said, "I want you to be a Slayer Kai. All your hatred towards your mother will be erased; you can finally take your revenge. And not just that, you can help people who're about to experience the same thing that you've experienced, what do you say?"

I stared back at him. I was thinking really hard if I was going to accept it or not. But when I was thinking about it more, there wasn't a reason for me not to accept it. I was jobless. This was an opportunity for me. I could repay all the things that my mother did. And I would be helping people too.

"I accept your offer, Mr. Asano Tamo," I finally answered.

Tamo smiled as he stated, "Then welcome to Ravens"

And after that, I became Kai, the Slayer of the Ravens, just like that.

Everyone feared me and I liked it. Of course I didn't like it at first but it just grew onto me. The first weeks were tough for me to kill people, but when I killed one, I started to kill dozens. And in two years time, I was ranked number one in the Slayers. I was the head of the said group. I started to love killing, it was my way of escaping the real world, and it made me feel happier and safer. It made me feel at ease. I was finally in a place where I belonged.

But slowly it corrupted me. I started seeing things. My temper became worse. I hated everyone who stood in my way and would kill them without any doubts. I was a monster...I myself, was turned into a Demon. And I couldn't even stop it from happening.

"I'll just be grabbing some lunch", I said to the second rank that was my partner for two years in this industry.

"You do know that you've been getting death threats for the past few days", he stated with a worried look.

I laughed as I answered, "What the fuck are you talking about Yamado? No one could even step a few feet closer to me"

"Just stop killing people man. You kill these people even though we haven't found the right evidence."

"We'd kill them if we find the evidence anyway."

     "But what if they're innocent?"

I suddenly slammed on the table and shouted at my partner, "This is our job isn't it?! Why are you suddenly becoming a fucking chicken?!"

Yamado stood up from his seat and fiercely answered, "The police force is okay with the things that we've been doing, but because of you they're started to doubt our work. Do you even know that the police are following you? One more mistake or you'd be sent to jail!"

I glared at him and said, "I don't need your fucking opinion," then left.

I went to the elevator, which was completely empty. But when the door closed, I saw my reflection through the door, and behind me were dozens of dead people. I closed my eyes, hoping it would leave, but good thing the elevator door opened.

"Good afternoon Kai-san," a man said as he entered the elevator and bowed in front of me.

"Good afternoon," I replied back. I was expecting that the dead people would still be there, but when the door closed, the man behind me was the only reflection I could see.

"It's getting worse," I said to myself as the door of the elevator finally opened. I walked out of the headquarters and ignored anyone who was in front of me. I pushed them away. I didn't care if they got mad. I just wanted to let out my anger.  When I was about to punch someone, someone suddenly ran in front of me.

     "Kai?! Is that you?!"

"S-Steve?!" I stated as I looked at him closely. And just by seeing his face, my anger completely vanished.

"What are you doing here in Tokyo? Suho said you suddenly left and-" I quickly stopped Steve. With a serious face I said, "Don't you ever mention his name to me."

Steve looked confused as he said, "What? What happened to you two? Did you fight?"

I didn't answer him. Well, I couldn't answer him. I didn't hate Steve, but towards Suho...I just wanted to kill him. When I saw Steve's confused face, I quickly changed the mood. With a smile I said, "By the way, what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in Korea?"

"Yeah. But boss sent us to Osaka to do some work, and he's been quite busy so he hasn't called us back yet. I just wanted to visit Tokyo while the other boys relax in Osaka," he answered.

"Really? Then...you want to work with us? You could be part of the Eyes group or the Invisibles."

"The what?" Steve asked as he looked at me weirdly. I just scratched my head as I stated, "Just come with me, Tamo will explain everything to you." Then I brought Steve to our headquarters.

Tamo and I...well, we aren't that close, but we're not that distant with each other either. I sleep at their mansion sometimes. We eat lunch together, and so as dinner. We talk, but mostly when we hangout both of us wouldn't say a word. But surprisingly, I've grown attached to him.

"Tamo, I have someone who I want to recommend to you," I stated as I entered the room with Steve. Tamo was doing some paper works. Then he slowly lifted his head and looked at Steve.

"And he must be?" Tamo asked.

"He's Steve. He worked with the same guy I worked with when I was in Korea. He wants to work here now," I told him.

Tamo suddenly stood up and shook Steve's hand. Then he said, "A friend of Kai is a friend of mine."

"You speak Korean?" Steve asked. He was amused by how fluent Tamo was.

"That's not even half of the languages I know Steve. Please, let's sit down and talk about your job here."

After that, Steve went back to his hotel. He'll be getting his things in Osaka and live in Tokyo for the time being, and he'll be starting next week as an Invisible.

"We'll be eating together tonight. Afterward we'll stay in our hotel room," Tamo commanded as we were at his limousine.

"Wow, how sweet. My baby already planned our date", I stated with a chuckle as I continued smoking inside the limo.

Tamo took my cigarette, threw it out the window, and said, "Very funny...we're staying in the hotel because the meeting will be done there. And as the head of the Slayers group, you're included."

"How exciting," I stated as I rolled my eyes. Tamo angrily looked at me and stated, "What's wrong with you? You usually don't smoke at this time of the day. Something bugging you? Is it the police?"

"I don't give a fuck on what those policemen do to me. I just remembered something that made me furious again, I honestly tell him."

"Suho?" he asked, making me clench my fist. I didn't answer Tamo, but my silence already made him understand.

"Then why did you recommend that Steve guy to me if he made you remember him?" Tamo asked curiously. I looked out the window and answered, "I don't know okay. Steve's a good guy."

"And if he's the right-hand-man of Suho, why aren't you mad at him?" Tamo asked further.

"I don't fucking know okay?! I don't even know why I fucking hate him..."

Tamo didn't say anything else but sighed as a reply.
