SDS1 12: A DATE TO REMEMBER

HYUNSEUNG WOKE UP AFTER 13 hours of sleep. He was back in his room, feeling a lot better than yesterday. Then he looked at his finger and saw that he was now wearing his ring.

"Wait, was I dreaming?" Hyunseung asked himself, but someone surprisingly answered, "You fucking think that was a dream?"

Hyunseung quickly sat up and saw his six brothers standing on the right side of his bed, everyone now wearing their rings as well.

"What are you guys doing here. No wait...how did I even get here?" Hyunseung confusingly asked. Minhyuk sat down beside Hyunseung and said, "Mom said a handsome man with white hair carried you here and left."

Sunggyu then glared at Hyunseung and stated with his arms crossed, "And who the fuck could that be, huh Hyunseung?"

"Come on Sunggyu, don't be mad at JS. We don't know the real story behind that article anyway," Taeil stated, trying to calm his brother down.

Jiyong sat at the chair beside Hyunseung's desk and said, "We were looking for him the whole day yesterday, only to find out he was flirting with a jerk named Yong Junhyung. Isn't that worth getting mad for Taeil?"

Suho quickly went in between them and said, "Hey, let's not argue."

"I didn't flirt with anyone," Hyunseung quickly defended as he stood up and went in front of the mirror. He looked at himself for a few seconds and suddenly mumbled, "We're humans. We have the choice to choose the one's we want to love, and the one's we want to kill."

The sons looked at their brother with shock and confusion. They couldn't understand why Hyunseung was acting like that all of a sudden.

"What the hell are you saying?!" Sunggyu asked when he went to Hyunseung and pulled his shoulder so Hyunseung could look back at him. But Hyunseung doesn't say anything so Sunggyu continued, "Do I need to punch you so you could come back to your senses Jang Hyunseung?! We're not humans, we're demons. There's a difference between the two. We're Demons now JS and we have to accept that. There's nothing that we could have done so now we're here. Don't let that angel corrupt your brain with things that will make them have the ability to twist you around."

Hyunseung ignored what Sunggyu just said and looked at him seriously, "We didn't even know we were demons in the first place Sunggyu. Killing someone wasn't really in our future plans. If it weren't for that letter then we wouldn't be doing this shit at all."

"So what? Did that angel tell that to you too? Don't you hear how stupid you're sounding right now Hyunseung?" Sunggyu angrily told him, but Hyunseung fired back and said, "What's stupid is us being so comfortable about killing someone when we couldn't even hurt a person a few months ago!"

Everyone was suddenly shocked on what Hyunseung just said. The words actually pierced right through them that they ended up looking away from him.

"We didn't know we were supposed to kill someone, let alone a bunch of angels. But since someone told us we're demons, we automatically have this mindset that we have to fucking do it!" Hyunseung protested, but Sunggyu wasn't backing down either, "We might not have known but we were already destined to do so. The demon blood was already in our veins. We're sons of demons and your brothers are demons, just face it!"

Hyunseung paused then suddenly glared at their leader, "I am Jang Hyunseung...and for all I know, I don't have a fucking demon brother like you!" Hyunseung shouted, finally making Sunggyu punch him.

Hyunseung fell on the ground, so Taeil and Minhyuk quickly went to where he was and helped him up.

"Sunggyu! Why did you do that?!" Suho asked as he watched his brothers help Hyunseung up.

"Sunggyu, wasn't that too much?" Jackson added, but Sunggyu only glared at them. The six clearly saw the dark aura surrounding Sunggyu, but the truth was, he wasn't angry at Hyunseung, he was worried; worried that Hyunseung might get hurt with the decisions he's making.

"Let go of me," Hyunseung stated when he pushed Minhyuk and Taeil away from him. He slowly stood up and wiped the blood on the side of his mouth. He was about to leave the room, but Sunggyu grabbed him and punched him for the second time, shocking the brothers even more.

"Sunggyu! That's enough!" Suho shouted, and this time, it was him who helped Hyunseung up.

"Stop it Sunggyu!" Minhyuk shouted at his brother. He tried to drain Sunggyu's energy too but Sunggyu didn't budge. He forgot that their powers don't affect their own brothers. So Sunggyu came running towards Hyunseung and punched him once more before Hyunseung could even stand.

"I said stop!" Minhyuk shouted again. He couldn't just watch his best friend get beaten up by a higher ranked brother.

Jiyong and the rest of the brothers just stared at the two. They couldn't do anything anymore. They knew that Sunggyu would be unstoppable if he's furious. Hyunseung on the other hand, was now lying on the floor while Sunggyu was sitting on top of him, pulling Hyunseung's shirt closer to him.

"Don't be fooled because of what that guy said! Don't ruin all our father's plans just because of what that guy said. Don't throw our hard work just because of what that guy said..." Sunggyu suddenly stopped. Then Hyunseung felt something drop on his face.

     Sunggyu was crying...blood.

Kharon explained this to them before. When a demon cries water, it could be that he's happy or its tears with no emotions (AKA fake). But when a demon cries blood, it means he's hurt, in pain, or sad...

"Sunggyu..." Jiyong called out with concern, and Sunggyu finally lets go of Hyunseung as he said, "Don't tell me...that you don't have brothers...because of what that guy said." Then Sunggyu stood up.

Jackson and Jiyong were about to approach him but Sunggyu quickly went out of the door and left.

"Hyunseung, are you alright?" Minhyuk asked as he ran to where his 'beaten-up' brother was.

"I'm fine," he answered without looking at him.

Hyunseung stood up. A few minutes ago, he was feeling a lot better than before, but now he felt even worse. He wiped the blood on his face once again, then Jiyong went to where Hyunseung was and doesn't say anything. Instead, he lifted his fist at Hyunseung, but before he could land a punch, Jackson held Jiyong's fist and pushed it away.

"Hyunseung had enough beating, don't you think Kwon Jiyong?" Jackson asked him.

Jiyong glared at Jackson and pushed him away. Then he went to Hyunseung again and pulled his shirt towards him. Hyunseung was avoiding eye contact with Jiyong but Jiyong continued anyway, "Don't ever make our leader cry...because of an Arc." Then he lets go of Hyunseung and followed Sunggyu out.

"I'm sorry..." Hyunseung whispered as he was staring at the ground.

"It's okay Hyunseung, you don't need to apologize. We're not mad, we're just...shocked, that's all," Suho tried to explain.

Hyunseung looked at Jackson but Jackson didn't look back at him. It only made Hyunseung feel bad about himself even more.

"I'm sorry..." Hyunseung said once more.

Taeil went to where he was and held his shoulder gently, "You don't need to-" But before Taeil could finish, Hyunseung cuts him off and continued, "I'm sorry because...I'm still going on that date."

"W-What?!" his brothers asked from shock.

"Are you out of your mind Hyunseung?" Minhyuk asked, trying his best to act calm.

"He's tricking us. He's tricking YOU. We know that you know that pretty well, and the last person they could fool is you JS," Minhyuk tried to explain.

"I know Minhyuk, but I still need to go with him. He told me he won't hurt me, then I'll..."

Minhyuk finally snapped. He took the lamp on Hyunseung's side table and threw it as far as he could, startling everyone.

     "Minhyuk!" Taeil shouted in surprise.

"Are you fucking hearing yourself right now Hyunseung?! Sunggyu fucking punched you for a reason! Why, did you think he did it for fun!? He wanted you to snap back to your senses and rethink things through. In the start, I knew you would decline, even when I read the article I knew you would never make such a shitty decision, but now...hearing it from your own mouth...it sickens me," Minhyuk said angrily, but Hyunseung didn't say anything and just looked away.

Jackson dragged Taeil out of the room. It was obvious he didn't want to hear the two quarrel with each other, and he also knew that Taeil didn't have to hear them either. So as the two left the scene, Suho looked at Minhyuk, then to Hyunseung, then back to Minhyuk. He gave out a loud sigh and followed Jackson and Taeil out of the room as well.

"If we're not brothers...then aren't we best friends?" Minhyuk asked, but Hyunseung still didn't answer.

"I-I don't want...to see you hurt Hyunseung," Minhyuk finally told him. Then he took his backpack and was ready to leave, but he looked at Hyunseung for the last time and said, "Go to that date...and you will never see me talk to you again."

OUTSIDE THE JANG RESIDENCE

     "Sunggyu..."

Jiyong followed Sunggyu outside. He pulled Sunggyu's hand but Sunggyu was still too strong, so he pushed it away from him.

"Sunggyu, I'm talking to you so can you at least look at me," Jiyong stated, trying to catch up with his brother.

"What?!" Sunggyu finally asked as he looked at Jiyong. His eyes were red, and a trail of blood that came from his eyes to his chin was visible. Jiyong forcefully pulled Sunggyu closer to him. He held his wrist tightly and took a handkerchief out from his pocket. Then Jiyong started cleaning his brother's face until all the bloodstains were gone.

"Hyunseung was just...confused, that's all," Jiyong stated as he slowly lets go of Sunggyu and placed his handkerchief back in his pocket. Then he looked back at Sunggyu and continued, "And you're our leader. If you start crying we're all gonna start crying too."

Sunggyu finally calmed down. He looked at his brother and chuckled, "Then I should have cried some more."

"Let's save that for a funeral," Jiyong quickly answered, then both of them started laughing. Sunggyu smiled and patted Jiyong's head like he was a kid, "Thanks...brother."

"Hey! The hair, don't ruin it," Jiyong stated as he pushed Sunggyu's hand away and started fixing his hair, making Sunggyu chuckle again. After fixing his hair, Jiyong stared at the window of Hyunseung's room, "So, about Jang Hyunseung and Yong Junhyung. What are we going to do?"

Sunggyu's ring started glowing upon the mention of Junhyung's name. This time, Sunggyu WAS angry.

"I'm not letting them fool my brother," Sunggyu declared. But then he looked at the sky and clenched his fist, "No...I'm not letting them fool a prince."

Hyunseung texted Junhyung and told him to wait for him at the park near his house. Even after the drama earlier, Hyunseung still went to the date with Junhyung. As soon as he arrived at their meeting place, Junhyung instantly saw Hyunseung and ran to where he was.

"What happened to your face!?" Junhyung asked the moment he approached him. He was about to touch the bruise on Hyunseung's face, but Hyunseung quickly avoided him.

"Ah, I'm sorry," Junhyung awkwardly stated.

Hyunseung didn't say anything else, making the whole atmosphere even more awkward.

"Wait, are you sure it's okay to go on a date on school days? Isn't it better to just go during the weekends?" Junhyung then asked just so the two of them wouldn't just stare at each other in silence.

Hyunseung started walking away instead of answering the question, quickly making Junhyung follow beside him. When they were walking at the same pace now, Hyunseung finally answered, "It's okay. I didn't want to go to school today anyway."

"If you say so, but, where do you want to go? Do you want to go to an amusement park? Or we could watch a movie or..."

"Let's eat lunch," Hyunseung suggested, surprising Junhyung because he wasn't expecting that he would even suggest anything.

"Okay, then after that we could..."

     "Go home," Hyunseung quickly finished.

This wasn't the 'date' Junhyung had in mind but he nodded his head anyway, "Well, okay then. We could eat then leave afterward. So, where do you want to eat?" Junhyung then asked as he looked at his supposed date.

Hyunseung doesn't answer and brought Junhyung to the restaurant where her mother gave him the box that contained the letter and the ring. It was weird to bring him there, but there was no second meaning behind it.

"Wow, classy," Junhyung stated as they approached the receptionist who instantly recognized Hyunseung.

"Oh, Mr. Jang, you're not with your mother today?" she asked as she was staring at the man beside Hyunseung.

"No, I'm with my 'friend' today," Hyunseung answered, emphasizing the word friend.

"I see. So table for two?" she asked, and Hyunseung nodded. The two of them followed the receptionist to their table. When she showed them their seats and left, Hyunseung and Junhyung sat down as a waitress handed them the menu.

While Junhyung was looking at the menu, Hyunseung didn't even wait for him and started taking their order.

"Okay then, your order will be served after 5 minutes," then the waitress took the menu from Hyunseung's hand and left.

"Wait, don't tell me you're going to pay for this?" Junhyung quickly asked. He didn't want Hyunseung to pay since he was the one who forced Hyunseung to go on the said date in the first place.

"Who said I was? You're going to pay for it of course," Hyunseung stated with a smirk, surprising Junhyung, "If I'm going to pay then you should have made me pick my order at least," he told Hyunseung.

Hyunseung smiled evilly and said back, "You wouldn't understand the menu anyway so just shut up and eat the food I ordered."

"Hey, Demon, are you calling me stupid right now?" Junhyung playfully asked. Hyunseung didn't answer but kept on smiling until he started playing with his fork.

They were silent for a few seconds but Junhyung broke the silence again as he said, "Let me just clarify to you that this is a onetime thing. If you don't want to see me anymore it's alright, at least I paid my debt. But if you want to hangout again then I'd love to go on another one."

Hyungseung continued playing with his fork. Without looking back at Junhyung, he asked, "Your point is?

"Well, I just want to tell you that I'm not planning on anything to hurt you, or anything at all, so you don't need to talk about your brothers or where your hideout is or stuff like that because I'm not interested. Like what I said, I want to make you believe that what I'm doing is because of my free will and..."

Junhyung was cut off when Hyunseung slammed the fork down, "What do you like about me Junhyung?" He asked. Junhyung was taken aback. He didn't know what to answer on the sudden question. But as Hyunseung continued to stare at him, Junhyung couldn't help but gulp. He knew that Hyunseung wasn't doing it intentionally, but the prince of lust was oozing out a pheromone that made Junhyung unknowingly feel hotter.

Junhyung snapped back to his senses when a waiter bumped into him. He blinked and stared back at Hyunseung. Without thinking, he answered, "Everything," like the words just automatically went out of his mouth without his knowledge.

Hyunseung almost choked on air, and Junhyung blinked again, now in full control of himself.

"Hyunseung, are you okay?" Junhyung asked.

"I-I'm fine..." he quickly answered; trying his best to hide his flustered expression. He cleared his throat and composed himself. When Hyunseung was sitting back straight again, Junhyung cleared his throat and asked, "Well, I want to get to know you more Hyunseung. And I think I can start off by asking about what happened to your face."

Hyunseung arranged the fork on the table and still didn't answer Junhyung's question. So Junhyung tried again, "Hyunseung, did your brothers somehow..."

"No...they didn't," he quickly answered, making it even more suspicious. But Junhyung didn't comment about it anymore and said instead, "I see."

Junhyung obviously didn't believe it but he insisted on not asking about it anymore, to not annoy Hyunseung.

"Then, can you tell me something about yourself?" Junhyung asked instead.

Hyunseung kept quiet for 3 long seconds before answering him, "Well, I'm the son of Asmodeus and I'm the first deadly son. It might be weird since I'm the prince of Lust too, but I guess that's something you've known even before we did. I have six..."

Junhyung quickly cut him off and told him, "Hyunseung, you're right, what you're telling me are things that I already know. Can you tell me something about YOU instead? Like what your likes are, what you hate, and what you love to do and eat."

Hyunseung didn't want to tell him those things, but I guess it wouldn't hurt if he did.

"Well, I like watching movies and hanging out with my brothers. I have a spynx cat that I love so much, and I like...playing baseball."

"That's better, now it's my turn," Junhyung stated. He sat up properly like he was in an interview, "Well, I like training. I've been friends with Seunghyun, since I was 10 so he's my closest brother next to Mark and the others. I hate blood the most, I don't know why though, maybe it's because when we were kids, I lost a lot of blood because of an accidental training; it traumatized me for years. I thought I was dying! But good thing the angels healed me and I was better. But I do believe that it was my second life", Junhyung explained, making Hyunseung chuckle.

"Are you afraid of dying?" Hyunseung asked, shocking Junhyung on the sudden question.

"Well, not really. When I die I'll be in the arms of God and at the right side of my Father, Michael. We'll be soldiers of heaven and that's the biggest honor a half-angel like me can receive. What I'm afraid of is how I'm going to die. That's what I'm really scared of," Junhyung answered.

After hearing the angel's answer, something pierced inside Hyunseung's chest. Was he feeling guilty again?

"How about you? What are you afraid of?" Junhyung asked him.

"Mine's kinda the opposite. I'm not afraid of how I'm going to die, but I'm afraid of after my death. If you're a soldier of heaven, then I'd be one of the rulers of hell, and we'd still be killing each other, right?" Hyunseung answered a matter-of-factly.

Junhyung didn't say anything back because Hyunseung was right. Why are they killing each other if in the end, they'd still be killing each other, it was nonsense if you think about it.

"Here's your order sir," the waitress stated when she arrived with the food.

"Would you like anything else?" she asked them after placing their order on the table.

"We're alright, thank you," Hyunseung answered. The waitress bowed and left, and then the two started eating.

They were quiet the whole time. After their last conversation, Junhyung didn't know what to talk about anymore since he was seriously dumbfounded by what Hyunseung told him. So after eating, Junhyung offered Hyunseung to walk him home. Hyunseung didn't have a reason to decline the offer so he agreed.

"My house is a few blocks away, you can leave me here," Hyunseung stated.

"Are you sure?"  Junhyung asked, insisting that he could still walk him all the way to his house.

     "I'm-" Hyunseung suddenly paused mid-sentence.

Junhyung looked confused so he turned around to see what Hyunseung was shocked about. But to his surprise, it was the six sons, walking their way home from school.

"Isn't that your brothers?" Junhyung asked as the six sons walked closer to where they were standing.

When they were now in front of Junhyung, Junhyung immediately backed away and said, "Hey guys, no hard feelings okay? I didn't do anything to him anyway so you don't need to hold a-" Junhyung stopped in shock because the six sons completely ignored them and walked away like they didn't see anyone.

"What the...did they not see us or-"

"Junhyung," Hyunseung called out. Junhyung slowly looked back at Hyunseung and discovered that he was already crying. His eyes widened from shock because he didn't expect Hyunseung to actually cry in front of him, "H-Hyunseung...a-are you alright?!"

With a forced smile on Hyunseung's face, he answered, "Thank you for the lunch," then he walked away.

Junhyung wanted to leave, but he ran to where Hyunseung was and hugged him from behind. He leaned his face closer to his ear and whispered, "I'm sorry...Jang Hyunseung."

     "Huh?"

Hyunseung slowly faced Junhyung. And without any warning, Junhyung planted a kiss on Hyunseung's soft pink lips.

It would have been a romantic scene, but it looked emotional instead because...

     Hyunseung's tears were purely water.
