SDS1 05: ARCS
"DO YOU THINK WE have a chance of killing them?" Seunghyun asked, annoying Junhyung again, "I think so," Junhyung answered, but he looked hesitant about it.
"You can't just say that Junhyung. We must be sure that we can kill them and not the other way around," Seunghyun told him, angering Junhyung now.
"I know, but what do you want me to say? That we're going to lose to them and die?!" Junhyung said furiously, and Seunghyun didn't reply, making Junhyung sigh and immediately feel guilty for shouting at him.
"Look Seunghyun, I think we have a chance, I really do," Junhyung honestly told him.
"And why is that?" Seunghyun asked back.
"They can't control their powers yet, not like us, and that's an advantage," Junhyung stated, but Seunghyun quickly asked again, "What if they can control it?"
Junhyung confidently shook his head and answered, "I know they can't. Look at Jang Hyunseung, he didn't even know that he had that kind of power. All of them looked surprised."
"Yeah, if Lay didn't heal you, you'd definitely pass out," Seung reminded him.
"See, and that's what we have that they don't. So don't worry too much, understand?"
Seunghyun nodded, and the two Arcs went back to their classroom to join the others. When the two arrived at their rooms, they saw Sungjae and Jihoon standing outside.
"What are you guys doing here? Shouldn't you be inside already?" Junhyung asked with a confused expression. Sungjae looked back at their leader looking worried, "Junhyung, our guardian called for us."
Upon hearing the news, Junhyung and Seunghyun's expression became serious.
"Our guardian? What does he want?" Junhyung immediately asked.
"I don't know, but I think it's serious. He wouldn't be calling us in a time like this if it wasn't important, right?" Jihoon asked back.
"Then what will we say to the professor? We can't just bail without saying anything?" Seunghyun stated, making the rest realize it themselves.
"I'll handle it," Sungjae suddenly said as the three looked at him with shock. They already knew what Sungjae was thinking about even though he hasn't said it himself.
"Our Father told us to not use our powers on humans," Junhyung told him with a worried tone. He was the leader, so he'd be the one who would get in trouble if their Father finds out about the things that they're doing on earth.
"It's just a onetime thing Junhyung, so don't worry," Sungjae reassured him. Then he patted Junhyung's back and entered the room before Junhyung could even stop him.
"Good morning sir, sorry I'm late," Sungjae confidently stated as he walked towards their professor.
"Oh, where are the others? Are they still at the dean's office?" The professor asked as he puts the textbook down on the desk to look at Sungjae.
"Yes sir, but something came up so we need to leave. Will you give us permission?" he asked, looking straight at the professor's eyes.
"Do you have a valid excuse?" the professor asked him.
"No sir, but-"
"Then I can't acknowledge that. Now call the others so we could continue with our discussion," the professor stated, so Sungjae went closer to him and whispered, "You're allowing Yook Sungjae, Yong Junhyung, Choi Seunghyun, and Pyo Jihoon to leave the campus." And like a mindless zombie, the teacher repeated, "Yes, I am allowing you all to leave the campus."
Without removing his eyes from Sungjae, their professor marked their names as present in the attendance sheet. Sungjae smiled and snapped his fingers, making the professor come back to his senses.
"Thank you!" Sungjae shouted as he quickly went out of the room, leaving the professor clueless on what just happened.
"Guys! We're permitted to leave. Let's call Lay and the others," Sungjae excitedly said, running away before Junhyung could scold him. Junhyung sighed as he looked at his troublesome brother, but he didn't say anything about it and just followed him.
The four called their brothers and left the campus without wasting any more time. The seven Arcs lived together in a cozy white mansion called the Holy Home. It was conveniently just a few blocks away from their campus.
"What do you think the reason is for Dongmin to suddenly call for us?" Lay asked in curiosity.
"I don't know, but this better be worth it," Junhyung stated. The seven Arcs reached the holy home, and the moment they entered, they immediately saw their guardian, Park Dong Min, sitting at the sofa while drinking a glass of wine.
"Good, you've arrived just in time," Dongmin stated as he stood up from the sofa and faced the seven Arcs.
"Why did you call us?" Jihoon asked as the seven Arcs went to the living room and sat on the sofa.
"Well your Father wants to talk to you," Dongmin answered as he drank from his glass of wine once again.
"Which father?" Mark asked, and Dongmin seriously looked back at Junhyung and answered, "Father Michael."
"My Father?" Junhyung said with a hint of surprise in his voice.
"What does he want?" Seunghyun asked, worried that the leader of the Archangels were the one who was actually looking for them.
"Why don't you ask him yourselves?" Dongmin stated as he went to the big mirror above the fireplace. He pressed the design in the middle of the mirror, and the mirror instantly showed a male's face with big white wings behind him.
"Good Afternoon Father Michael," said the seven Arcs as they stood up and bowed.
"Good Afternoon to you my sons," Michael stated, and then the seven Arcs sat back down while Dongmin stayed beside the fireplace, drinking his endless glass of wine.
"Why did you call for us father? It's so unlike you," Woohyun said as he scratched the back of his neck.
"Yeah. You usually call us when we're already at home," Mark added.
"Dongmin called you this early because I wanted to talk to you about the matters that happened this noon," Michael revealed, and the seven Arcs looked at each other and immediately knew what he was talking about.
"You saw it?" Junhyung cautiously asked, and Michael nodded as an answer, making Junhyung gulp.
"We're terribly sorry father," Lay said as he bowed down in front of Michael.
"It's just that if we don't do it that way, we can't confirm if they really are the human-demon children," Sungjae added, and then he bowed down again like Lay.
"We are very sorry Father," Junhyung repeated and did what the two were doing. Then the rest eventually followed.
"What well-mannered children," Dongmin teased, making everyone stand straight back up.
"Don't tease us you asshole," Junhyung angrily said, making Dongmin chuckle and drink from his wine again. While the Arcs looked at Junhyung and Dongmin, their father Michael cleared his throat, quickly making the seven Arcs return their attention to their Father.
"I apologize," Junhyung stated, and once again the seven Arcs bowed in front of the strong angel.
"Enough with the bows, and please sit down," Michael instructed, and the seven Arcs did what they were told and sat back down on the sofa.
"Next time you try to get information, don't curse so much, okay?" Michael said as he massaged his temple, and Dongmin chuckled again, making Junhyung furious once more.
"What are you laughing at?" Junhyung quickly asked as he glared at their guardian.
"Nothing, it's just that if it weren't for me you'll be at the hospital by now because of your big ego," Dongmin explained as he took another sip from his glass.
"What do you mean?" Lay asked confusingly.
"Your guardian was the one who called for the dean," Michael answered, surprising the Arcs.
"Why the hell would you do that?" Junhyung asked as he went towards Dongmin and grabbed his collar in complete anger. "Do you think we're weaker compared to them? Do you have any idea that we got in trouble because of you?!" Junhyung continued, not caring that his father was watching him.
"I just don't think so, I know so Junhyung," Dongmin said with a smirk.
Junhyung was about to punch Dongmin but Seunghyun quickly stopped him. He grabbed Junhyung and pulled him away from their guardian.
"Junhyung, do you really not care that Father is watching you right now? Is there any decency left in you or was it all taken away when Jang Hyunseung beat the crap out of you earlier?" Seunghyun angrily asked his leader.
Junhyung looked at the mirror and saw his father watching him intently. Junhyung finally calmed down and went to the sofa, then Dongmin puts his glass down and fixed his clothes.
"Sorry," Junhyung said softly because of the embarrassment he felt.
"You should be thankful to Park Dong Min instead because if he didn't call the dean you'll be seriously injured right now to the point that Lay can't heal you easily," Michael stated as he looked at Lay. Lay looked down on his lap, and Junhyung just stayed quiet. When Michael saw his son's reaction, he sighed and continued, "But have you confirmed it? Are they really the seven human-demon children?"
"Yes Father," Seunghyun answered.
"How could you be so sure?" Michael asked him.
"His eye color changed into bloody red and the aura he emitted was an aura that only a demon can do. And also the ring he was wearing lit up," Junhyung answered without looking at his father.
"All of their rings?" Michael asked.
"Nope, just Jang Hyunseung's ring."
"The son of Asmodeus, right? They named him Hyunseung?" Michael asked, and Junhyung nodded.
"Hmm...so the ring they're wearing suppresses their ability," Michael analyzed, making the Arcs understand the situation earlier better.
"But from the way Hyunseung used his power, it looks like he can't control it yet," Sungjae stated.
"Yeah, Junhyung told me himself that they lack control, unlike us," Seunghyun added.
"It is like that because you knew about each other since the day you were born in the world. And you trained your powers when you all started walking and talking. Unlike them, they knew about their true self and each other just days ago," Michael explained, but it was something that they were already aware of.
"But you shouldn't be confident about them not controlling their powers," Dongmin stated.
"And why is that?" Junhyung asked with a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Asmodeus is talking to them right now at the dean's office," Dongmin suddenly revealed, making the seven Arcs shocked. Even Michael was surprised.
"Park Dong Min, how can you be so sure?" Michael asked, so Dongmin placed his glass on top of the fireplace, and with the wave of his hand, a cloud shaped like a sphere suddenly appeared, and inside the sphere was an image of the seven demons and the dean talking with each other.
"It's just them talking," Woohyun stated, looking at the image confusingly.
"Look closely," Dongmin said, and they did. They looked closely at the dean and finally saw his eyes...
"Bloody red," Sungjae stated with a hint of shock in his voice. Then Dongmin popped the sphere like a bubble, making it disappear.
"Asmodeus used the dean's body to talk to them," Michael said, and Dongmin nodded as an answer.
"What do you think they're talking about?" Jihoon asked.
"It seems Asmodeus is telling his son's to control their powers," Dongmin answered as he took the wine glass from the fireplace and took a sip from it again, "That is why you shouldn't be confident anymore about you having control over your powers", he added.
"That's why you must kill them as soon as possible, before they become stronger than they already are," Michael said, and the seven Arcs nodded their head as an understanding.
"But... how can we do that? The only place that we can meet them is at HAU, and there are many people there," Mark complained.
"That is why we gave you powers, for you to use it," Michael answered a matter a factly, making Mark quiet.
"I know we told you to lessen the use of your abilities, especially using your powers on humans, but you have no choice because if you don't use it, you will surely die," Michael said, and the seven Arcs remained quiet.
"We, the Archangels, are allowing you, the human-angel children, to use your powers freely," Michael suddenly stated, shocking the Arcs.
"Really?! You're allowing us to use them?" Sungjae asked excitedly, and Michael nodded.
The seven Arcs immediately stood up from their chair in happiness. "But," Michael quickly intervened, quickly stopping them from celebrating.
"But?" the seven Arcs asked in unison.
"You can't use them for personal use. You'll only be using your powers when you are in danger or when you are fighting with the human-demon children," Michael explained.
"Yes Father," they all answered.
"Aside from that..." Michael waved his hand, and suddenly the seven Arcs were magically wearing a plain silver ring. "Your weapons," Michael continued with a smile on his face.
"No way," Woohyun asked in disbelief.
"The weapons will only be summoned when you are in danger. It is also a weapon that will suit your skills," Michael added.
"I have to admit, this is really cool," Seunghyun stated as he admired his ring as well.
"Indeed it is", Junhyung agreed.
"Now remember my sons. The seven human-demon children already know about you as well, so be careful and protect each other. And please refrain from fighting with your guardian. Even though he is like that, he does his job well," Michael instructed, and the Arcs nodded as an answer.
"And as for you Park Dong Min, please lessen the teasing. Okay?" Michael asked.
"I'll try," Dongmin stated with a smirk.
"Now my sons, go to your room and rest. You still have classes tomorrow," Michael commanded. The seven Arcs bowed and went upstairs, but before Junhyung could follow his brothers, his father stopped him.
"What is it father?" Junhyung asked.
Michael looked at his son seriously and told him, "Please watch over your brothers Junhyung."
"I am watching over them," Junhyung answered. Then he gives a quick bow and followed the others upstairs.
When the sons were out of sight, Dongmin - the Arcs' guardian - went to the mirror and said, "I never saw you guys this concern about them before."
"We're always concern about them," Michael quickly defended.
"Were you concerned when the Archangels left all of them in my care?" Dongmin quickly asked back, making Michael sigh, "They are half-humans Peter. When they were in training, we were not allowed to show ourselves to them. You clearly know that," he explained, making Dongmin take a sip from his wineglass again, "In here I am Park Dong Min, so do not address me as Peter."
"As you wish."
"I was guarding the gates of heaven, now I'm guarding seven stubborn boys," Dongmin whispered to himself, but Michael was still able to hear it, "Try to watch over them when they're outside the house, and report everything to me," Michael tells him.
"Isn't it the reason why you brought here? To watch over your sons?" Dongmin reminded him, and Michael sighed again, "I know. Just keep a close watch on them, or else they might go to the wrong path."
"Did our God tell you the future of those kids?" He asked the angel.
"No. But I have a feeling that they will disobey us and neglect their mission. They're still humans," Michael honestly said. Then he took a deep breath and continued, "I better go."
"Okay, see you soon Michael."
"You too Park Dong Min," Michael said back, and finally, he was gone, and all Dongmin could see was his reflection.
"If you only knew Michael, you wouldn't let your sons risk their lives for nothing," Dongmin whispered to himself as he drank his wine in one go and placed the glass at the countertop. Dongmin went outside the holy home and looked at the window to where the seven Arcs were. He chuckled and said, "You boys are just wasting your time," and with that said, Dongmin vanished from thin air.
"Where do you think is Dongmin going again?" Asked Sungjae as he was actually looking out of the window.
"I don't know, maybe to a bar or something? Even saints become sinners when they're brought back to the world huh?" Junhyung answered as he lied down on his bed.
"Now that we have our weapons, do we start our mission tomorrow?" Woohyun asked as he continued admiring his ring.
"Not yet. We need a plan before we strike because if we don't have a plan, we can die on our first battle with them," Seunghyun explained to him and Woohyun stopped looking at his ring.
"So, what's the plan then?" Mark asked, and the six Arcs looked at their leader, Junhyung. Junhyung sat down at the edge of his bed and said, "Each of us must have a target."
"What do you mean?" Lay asked confusingly.
"I mean...each one of us will focus on one of them and try to weaken them," Junhyung further explained.
"You mean like we have to get them to trust us?" Mark asked next, and Junhyung nodded his head as an answer, surprising the Arcs on the absurd plan.
"That's insane!" Woohyun complained, making Junhyung cross his arms. "And why is that insane?" He asked back with his right eyebrow raised.
"Well, think about it. They already know that we're their enemies and we're out here to kill them. So how do you think they can trust us now?" Woohyun explained, looking at his leader like he was crazy.
"That is why we must think of a way for them to trust us," Junhyung said, and everyone became quiet.
"Fine, but Jiyong is mine," Seunghyun quickly stated. He knew about Jiyong, and he wanted to battle the strongest out of all of them.
"Then Wang Jackson is mine," Mark stated excitedly.
"The arrogant leader is mine," Woohyun added. Then Jihoon, looking uninterested with what they were talking about, answered, "I'll take on Lee Taeil."
"Then I'll take Suho," Lay said with a smile on his face.
"I'll handle the glutton," Sungjae stated confidently.
"Then it's settled. I'll handle Jang Hyunseung," Junhyung said with a smirk plastered on his face.
MEANWHILE AT A BAR SOMEWHERE...
Park Dongmin, previously known as St. Peter, chugged down his drink and chuckled to himself. Ever since he was transferred here on earth, he started having an uncontrollable drinking habit. This was the side effect that God the Creator had mentioned to them before he was given the task to watch over the human-angels.
"Hey handsome, why are you laughing alone there?" Said the girl at the bar who approached him.
"Nothing, I just remembered the boys," Dongmin answered without looking at the girl who was sitting beside him.
"Boys? Your kids?" She asked him, making Dongmin laugh this time, "No. my boss's kids."
"Oh, I see. Would you like to have another glass then?" asked the girl as she was holding Dongmin's shoulder gently.
"Sure," Dongmin answered, and the girl went to the bartender to order Dongmin another drink.
"They're just really wasting their time," Dongmin said as he looked back at the girl who was talking to the bartender.
"If they only knew."
