12》Prophecy
"A prophecy for you,
A prophecy for me
What the future holds,
In my eyes you will see
The good and the bad,
One will happen of both
Which outcome will win
you determine by oath"
"I really failed that maths exam." Jimin muttered, looking down sadly at his green bubble tea.
"I did really well." Jungkook said cheerfully.
Jisoo nudged him playfully. "Yah, of course you did well! You're the golden maknae of our class."
The three had headed to a little coffee shop on campus after their exam. Jisoo was drinking a strawberry milkshake, Jimin had his untouched green bubble tea and Jungkook was enjoying a latte macchiato.
"What are you all doing today?" Jisoo asked.
Jimin cleared his throat. "We had a little fight this morning, so us and the hyungs are going for some movies and popcorn tonight. We figured that some more time together was just what we needed."
"Aww and I wasn't invited?" Jisoo pouted, before laughing it off.
"Sorry Soo, it's a boys night." Jungkook replied with a wink. "Anyways, after class I still need to go work. My boss needs me. I think I'll make it back in time for the movies though."
Jisoo grinned. "Is it that boss from club red? You never told me how that meeting went. How's your work? Is the boss hot?"
Jungkook laughed awkwardly. If Jisoo knew what he had been through, she would probably lock her precious best friend in her closet and never let him out again.
"Umm I guess you'd think he's hot but that's not the point right now. And work is fine, I guess."
Jisoo smirked mischieviously and wiggled her eyebrows. "What's his name? Can I get his number?"
Jungkook looked to Jimin for help, but he looked just as lost. As if on cue, the door beside them opened and Namjoon stepped in, looking refreshed and professional in his black suit and sunglasses. Jungkook's eyes widened and he jumped up, almost throwing the tall man over when he hugged him.
"Namjoon! You're alive! Oh my god, I thought you died!" Jungkook cried out in relief.
Jimin groaned and buried his face in his hands. You're so stupid Jungkook, Jisoo is still here!
"Wait isn't that the guy from the club? The former dean of students? He almost died? You guys are friends?" Jisoo shot out questions like a machine gun, her eyes alternating between Namjoon and Jungkook. She looked a little suspicious, not quite trusting him.
"Umm, he had a car accident yesterday." Jimin offered. Jungkook gave him a thankful look.
"Yes, but I'm fine now." Namjoon added, continuing the story that Jimin had started.
"We met at work and became friends. I know you probably think he's the biggest asshole on Earth right now, but he was just drunk that night when the fight happened, believe me, he isn't a bad person." Jungkook explained.
Namjoon leaned down to whisper into Jungkook's ear. "Sorry if I'm interrupting your break, but we need to go now, Taehyung wants us to come to the training hall."
Jungkook sighed. "Do we have to go now? I still have class."
"You'd better skip it or he'll have your head on a platter."
"Alright." Jungkook muttered defeatedly, turning back to his friends.
"Hey, I have to go, it's really urgent. Can you guys tell Mrs. Kim that I'm not feeling well and went back to my dorm?"
Jisoo nodded. "Sure thing Kookie. Just don't miss class too often, or your perfect grades will go down the drain."
He sighed in relief. "Thanks, gotta run."
------------------------------------------
This time started out differently than their usual training sessions. Taehyung was sitting on a black leather sofa, with two red velvet boxes beside him. They were fairly large, making Jungkook wonder what could possibly inside.
Maybe he got us christmas gifts? It's almost christmas afterall. Wait, he's the devil, never mind then...
"Come closer." Taehyung commanded, his voice as deep as ever. Jungkook and Namjoon obeyed, walking towards him and sitting down on the seats he had motioned for them.
"I got you two some very special things... Let's call them gifts. Come on, open them up."
The two looked at each other and then shrugged, each grabbing one of the boxes. Jungkook immediately opened his box, and was stunned to find a shining knife inside. Its magnificent blade was a made of a blue metal that he had never seen before, accompanied by beautiful swirling patterns. He ran his hands down the smooth and cool handle. It looked like planet Earth itself was trapped inside. What is inside the handle? Could it be sapphire, jade and opal? The handle was also rimmed with cleanly polished gold.
Namjoon's blade was exactly the same, except that it was red and that the precious stones worked into the handle were different. They stared at their blades with open mouths, admiring their beauty.
"I assume you like your gifts?"
"Yes, of course! These knifes are so beautiful, I've never seen any like these before. What metal are they made of?" Namjoon replied eagerly.
Taehyung smiled, obviously pleased by his answer. "Original Damascus steel. Known for its unique patterns and hard durability, as well as its sharpness. These blades you hold in you hands are ancient. Damascus steel is nowadays rarely produced, and nobody has ever managed to replicate the exact type of steel the Damasks used hundreds of years ago."
"Wow that's incredible!" Jungkook whispered. "But why did you give us these blades?"
"To defend yourselves."
Namjoon looked up in surprise. "Against those weird men? Wouldn't guns be better? Knives can only be used in close range combat."
Taehyung laughed. "Guns will not harm them. Just like us, those men are special. But don't you worry, these knives you hold can kill almost anything. They are infused with special spells and rituals, and have been passed down for almost 500 years, never failing their purpose."
"Can they really kill angels though? If yes, I still don't like the idea of killing. I am not a murderer." Jungkook muttered, narrowing his eyes at the blade in his hands. If it can kill almost anything, can it kill the devil?
Taehyung cocked his head to the side and looked at him strangely. "Why do you ask if it can kill angels?"
Shit, why did I say that? Well who cares if I know that they're angels. We have every right to know what awaits us.
"I- um... Those men that attacked us were angels, so I just wanted to make sure that the blades really do work on them." Jungkook said flusteredly.
"And how did you know that?" Taehyung asked, looking at him with a calm and unreadable gaze. Jungkook knew that he was probably wondering how he knew this.
"I saw their blinding light and their immense power, so I did some research. I thought that they were more than just gifted humans, and I found out that they were most likely archangels of death." He lied.
Taehyung nodded. "Very well then. I withheld this information from you two because I thought you wouldn't believe that those killers were angels. But I see that you know it now."
Jungkook put his blade back into the case and let out a sigh of relief. That was close, I think he didn't suspect a thing... At least I hope so.
Taehyung stood up and motioned for them to follow him to one of the target rooms. "Let's begin your training session."
The two nodded.
"Last time you almost died, Jungkook, so you need to upgrade your powers. Your telekinesis isn't useful if you aren't near heavy and large objects. Did you really think throwing vases and benches at angels would do anything?"
Jungkook turned a bright shade of crimson, feeling extremely embarassed. "Well, I had to do something and there was nothing else up there. But to be fair, that glass table in the conference room did alot of damage!"
"I'll admit, that was a pretty good move and your reaction to those bullets was very fast. But if you ever find yourself in a situation where you don't have cars that you can throw at people, you should use ice. With your water powers you can freeze the water in the air and use the icicles and shards as an attack. You can also freeze your enemies if you wish."
Jungkook perked up, his eyes widening. "I-I can do that?"
"Yes, why don't you try it on that target over there?"
"Wait!" Jungkook suddenly blurted, "Can we have a little break before we start?"
Taehyung's eyes narrowed as he suspiciously looked at the boy. He sighed before replying. "Fine then, you can have five minutes. Please hurry up."
Jungkook wasted no time and dragged a very confused Namjoon to the next bathroom, immediately locking the door.
"Jungkook? What's this about, is everything okay?" Namjoon asked with concern.
"Listen closely, we don't have much time." Jungkook whispered urgently. He told him everything Hobi had told him, and how they needed to find out what Taehyung could be planning.
What shocked Namjoon the most, was the revelation that Taehyung was the devil. "Is it really true?"
"Unfortunately it is. Look, I need to go to his office and see if I can find anything that might be of importance. You go back to him and make up an excuse as to why I am gone, okay? Then I'll come back as quickly as I can and continue training."
Namjoon's eyes widened in horror. "You say alot of stupid things sometimes, but this is by far the most idiotic thing that has come out of your mouth!" He exclaimed, "He won't buy any excuse I have, and if you get caught, then I don't even want to imagine what consequences await you. He could literally let you burn in hell."
Jungkook painfully closed his eyes for a second and pressed his lips together. "We can't wait forever until we take action. I'll take this chance right now." He said nervously.
"Well, you've got a mind of your own, so I can't stop you. Good luck Jungkook, please be careful." Namjoon muttered.
"I'll be fine hyung, just cover for me."
They gave each other one last sad smile, as if it were their last. At least that's how dramatic it felt to Jungkook.
He opened the door and looked outside into the corridor: Empty. He quickly slipped out and walked as fast as he could without being too loud. The hall they used for training was in the same building as Club Red and Taehyung's office, so all he had to do was find an elevator.
Jungkook quickly found one and slipped in, his hands shaking terribly as he pressed the button for the 45th floor. He took his time to enjoy the view, which he hadn't had the chance to notice the last time he had used one of these elevators. He had been way too busy screaming his lungs off at his kidnapper Suga, to even notice the magnificence sprawled before him.
Speaking of that sleepy creep, where is he? I haven't seen in him weeks, there's no way he's getting such a long holiday.
Once had reached the floor, he carefully peeked around the corners of the elevator. Thankfully, the hallway was empty and silent. He was sure the whole damn floor was reserved for Taehyung anyway, so there was no chance he'd meet anyone up there, except maybe butlers, assistants or housemaids.
Jungkook made a run for it and dashed towards the office door, immediately closing it once he was inside. He leaned against its gigantic frame, taking deep breaths to calm himself.
He stood up again, biting his lip nervously and started searching the drawers and cabinets for anything that might give away Taehyung's plans. Jungkook's frustration grew bigger and bigger as he tore through endless piles of useless contracts, business papers and stock market reports.
Come on, isn't there anything here? Maybe my idea was stupid afterall. He probably is smart enough not to leave anything important in his office...
Just when he thought of giving up, a shining card between a pile of books about investment banking caught his eye.
He took it out and was immediately suprised. The glossy card had a painting on it, and it was one he actually knew. He had seen it before in his favorite movie: Blood, Sweat and Tears. Oddly enough, it was the only non-business related item he had seen in the whole room, so he stuffed it into the pocket of his jacket and started putting all the books back where they belonged.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Jungkook let out a yelp and almost tripped over a few books that were on the floor. His head flew around wildly as he looked for the voice that he recognized as Suga's.
It took him a while to spot the figure sitting on a sofa in the farthest corner of the room, dipped in such heavy shadows that his dark suit and wavy black hair blended in seamlessly.
Dread crept into his stomach, as he just stared at him with horror. So that's where he had been. His throat suddenly felt very dry and Jungkook had to blink a few times to convince himself that he had actually just been caught.
"S-suga!" He managed to choke out, "How long have you been here?"
Suga chuckled. "Please Jungkook, call me Yoongi. I've been here long enough to see you put those books back into Taehyung's shelves."
"What? I didn't even see you come in here!"
"Tsk tsk, such an isolent boy. Weren't you listening, when I told you that I can merge with objects and travel in shadows? In fact merging with this couch gave me the best sleep I've ever had in my life. That is, until you showed up and awoke me with all that noise you were making."
Jungkook was speechless.
Yoongi gave him a sly smile, his eyes glinting like a cat that had cornered its prey.
"Tell me now, what are you doing here?"
"I-I was looking for something."
"Oh?" Yoongi raised his voice in amusement. "And what could that possibly be?"
Jungkook thought quickly. "Well, I don't think you'd understand, but I can explain. Taehyung always said something about us having a purpose or destiny, but he never told us what it was. I wanted to do my own research and that's why I came here."
In his mind, his explanation actually sounded pretty logical.
"Has he never told you that his office is off limits?"
"Umm yeah but I didn't really... care."
Yoongi laughed. "You're rebellious kid, I like that." He paused for a second and studied him. "You really want to know what your purpose is, don't you? If you want, I could tell you."
Jungkook's eyes widened. "You would do that for me?"
"Why of course, Jungkook. It's time you learned about a very special prophecy..."
A/N: Sorry to leave you all like this, I'm really tired right now. But hey, you got two new chapters in a row!
