1》Secrets
"There are two types of secrets: the kind you want to keep in, and the kind you don't dare to let out."
"Jeeeeon Jungkook!"
Jungkook's eyes widened and he turned around at the sound of the melodious and cheery female voice, that had erupted behind him.
There she was. His best friend Jisoo, probably the only girl he had ever felt comfortable with. The tall girl was beautiful, with sleek long black hair and a pair of pretty brown doe eyes.
Jungkook laughed. "Jisoo! How come no matter where I am, you manage to creep up on me?" Jungkook's voice was rather light and innocent sounding, but with a deeper undertone that matched his age.
Jisoo grinned and flashed her bright teeth at him. "I've got a bestfriend tracking system." She said jokingly, moving to walk beside him. "So what are you doing today?"
Jungkook shrugged. He brought his hand up and wiped his light brown bangs away from his eyes. "I still need to move into my dorm."
"I still can't believe we're both attending Korea's best university!" Jisoo exclaimed loudly, taking hold of Jungkook's hand and raising it to the air, as she did a little leap of victory.
"The Seoul National University is so big." He groaned at the thought of trying to find his way through the maze of buildings. The place seemed to stretch over at least 15 football fields.
Jungkook turned to Jisoo. "So where's your dorm?" He asked with a slight smile. Jisoo put on her ever-bright grin. "North part, Block A. Yours?"
"North Part, Block D." He answered. "Looks like we're not all too far apart." The two had just passed a coffee shop, when Jisoo tugged at Jungkook's white pullover and tried to drag him into the shop.
"I'm hungry, Kookie." She said when she saw the annoyed look in his eyes. Jisoo was always hungry. "There's this guy named Jin, and he's a huge foodie just like me." Jisoo said casually, as she hungrily eyed the delicious selection of cakes and tarts.
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Oh, has little Jisoo found her soulmate?" He said mockingly. She laughed. "Oh Kookie, he's just a friend. Besides, he's one of your new dormmates. I've seen the list in your emails."
Jungkook let out a huff of surprise and glared at her. "My emails?! Jisoo how the hell did you get in there? We're best friends, but you can't just go and invade my privacy like that." He lamented, making wild gestures with his hands.
Jisoo gave him an unfazed look, as she payed for a blueberry tart she had chosen. "So what? We keep no secrets from each other. And your emails were boring anyway. Nothing juicy."
Jungkook shuddered. We keep no secrets from each other. A nagging feeling of guilt started eating away at his stomach, making him slightly nauseous. There was something, but Jisoo wasn't allowed to know it just yet. Nobody was allowed to know it yet. Maybe they would never know.
Jisoo must have noticed his short mental absence, for she shot him a curious look as she carried her tray to a table by the window. Jungkook followed her to the table and took out his phone.
"I haven't checked out the list yet myself. Besides, how did you read my emails?" He grumbled.
Jisoo rolled her eyes and shoved a big piece of blueberry tart into her mouth. She chewed for a second, before replying. "Well, your phone doesn't have a code, so I took it last night while you were in the bathroom and just looked through it."
Jungkook groaned. Sometimes Jisoo drove him crazy, but he could never get mad at her. She was his best friend, and sadly one of his only friends. He hummed a melody as he looked through his mails and found the list. "Let's see..." He muttered, "My dormmates are... Kim SeokJin, Park Jimin and Jung Hoseok."
She finished her tart and then let out a satisfied noise. "So... Are you free tonight after you're done moving in?"
Jungkook thought for a while. "Yes, I'll be free. What do you wanna do?"
Jisoo rummaged in her purse and took out a velvety red paper card. "Tonight is one of Seoul's biggest halloween parties."
"It will take place in none other than Club Red in Gangnam-gu. I've got two VIP tickets. There's no way in hell you're not coming!" She gushed. There was excitement in her eyes, and her smile was as wide as ever.
Jungkook shifted uncomfortably. "That's so sweet of you Jisoo, but I don't know. I've heard some pretty shady things about that club. Gambling, violence, gang meetings and illegal drugs. It just doesn't sound... right." He muttered unsurely.
Jisoo laughed. "Don't tell me you're scared Jungkook. It's just a party. I promise there'll be no violence or anything, okay?"
Jungkook sighed. He was about to decline Jisoo's offer again, when she rose up and slammed her fists into the table.
"Thats enough Jeon Jungkook, you've been 18 since like half a year and haven't even been to a real party yet. Heck, you've never even had a girlfriend! So you're going to put on a wicked costume, have a great time and overcome your damn shyness!" Jisoo exclaimed sternly.
Jungkook looked down at his hands. "I'm not that shy around girls, I swear." He said, totally failing at sounding convincing. Jisoo looked amused. "Riiiiight, it's not like you barely talk to females other than me, easily get flustered and always make a large bow around any girls you see."
Jungkook sighed in defeat. Arguing with Jisoo was no use, she always got her way in the end. "Fine, I'll go."
Jisoo squealed in delight. "Meet me at 10PM in front of Club Red's VIP entrance, okay?" He nodded and shoved the ticket into his pocket.
------------------------------------------
Jungkook was a panting sweaty mess, once he had finally unloaded all of his six boxes and two suitcases in the room of his dorm. All of the student apartment blocks had six floors and no elevators. The work it had taken to carry all of his things up the countless flights of stairs was worth it though, because the view from the sixth floor was more than rewarding.
The apartment was surprisingly well furnished and modern. It had one big main area with a stocked kitchen, one sleek glass dining table and a sitting and living area that consisted of a nice long leather couch, a wall mounted TV and a glass coffee table.
Connected to the main area were four smaller dorm rooms and two small bathrooms. Wrapping around the main area were large floor-to-ceiling glass windows that showcased the magnificent view. Jungkook could overlook Gwanak-gu, a large part of his campus and the green towering hills in the background. He also saw a little river flowing beside the campus, that was nothing in size compared to the grand Han River.
Jungkook knew that he had arrived last, and he was rather nervous at the thought of meeting his dormmates. He was a little shy, and never could make the first move when talking to new people. Upon arrival three dorms had been taken, so he had taken the last.
Jungkook felt too exhausted to unpack his things, when an idea struck him. Something told him it was a bad idea, but he didn't care. He wanted to do this.
He quickly opened his door and peeked outside. Silence. The main area was empty and there was no movement or sound coming from his dormmates' rooms. Maybe they are outside, he thought. Perfect
Jungkook closed his door and took a deep breath. He hadn't done this in a long time, but now he felt like he needed this liberating sense of freedom. He raised his hand and focused his mind on one box.
He felt a childish gleam of joy, as the box opened itself and its contents started floating out of it. It were personal things like picture frames, books, stuffed toys and decorations. One by one they flew out and into the air.
Jungkook paused for a while to think of where to place his items, as they hovered in the air in front of him. He focused on a blue porcellain vase his mother had cherished and pointed his hand to the place where he wanted it. The vase followed his movements and gently placed itself on top of a wooden shelf.
He was about to move the second item, when the door was suddenly knocked open and a young man barged in. Jungkook let out a shriek of surprise. The objects that had been in the air moments ago, dropped down to his feet, some of them shattering.
The young man stared at him. They both stood there for a second, not saying a word. Jungkook felt panic rise up. He had fucked up and revealed his secret. How could he have been so stupid to just go and use his ability like that?
The boy didn't look hostile though, he looked rather inquisitive, and almost friendly. He was a little smaller than Jungkook, and a little chubby but still athletic looking. His hair was dyed in a charming grey, and the strands of his bangs loosely framed his angelic sweet face and those prominent baby cheeks. His lips were incredibly thick and pouty.
The boy looked Jungkook in the eyes and opened his mouth to speak. "You're special too." It sounded like an exclamation of wonder, and his light and airy sweet voice carried a hint of happiness. Happiness? What was there to be happy about?
Jungkook was confused. "What do you mean?" He asked.
"I could hear what you were doing. I could sense your energy."
Jungkook tried to laugh. It came out rather pressed. "I wasn't doing anything, I was just unpacking." He said, feigning innocence.
The young man grinned. "I saw it with my own eyes, heard it and felt it." Jungkook stared at him blankly. Was he insane? There had been no sound whatsoever and his door had been closed.
"You've got powers, just like me. I knew I'm not alone in this world!" The boy continued. He smiled at him.
Jungkook studied him for a second. "What's your name?" He finally asked.
"Park Jimin, yours?"
"Jeon Jungkook." He answered, before continuing. "So... Whats your special ability or whatever you'd call it?"
Jimin smiled and sat down on Jungkook's desk. "I have hightened senses, I can listen to things that are meters away, and feel them even if
there is a long distance between us. My eyesight is very sharp, I can even see at night. I can also sense energies, and teleport my mind from one place to another. My body stays where I am though."
Jungkook's mouth was hanging wide open. This was insane. He wasn't alone anymore. He had found another person like him, and he was living right here: In the same fucking apartment.
"So tell me more about your abilities."
Jungkook gazed at Jimin. "Well, I have telekinesis. At least that's what I think it's called. I can move objects with my mind and hands. Not only objects, I have also controlled water in the past."
Jimin let out a whistle. "You could be a superhero Jungkook." He laughed.
Jungkook smiled appreciatively. "You're not too bad yourself, Jimin."
Jungkook looked at his things. "I need to finish unpacking, are the others here too?"
"Nobody but you and me, I'll warn you if anyone comes back, okay?"
Jungkook grinned. "Thanks Jimin. It's so nice to finally meet someone who is like me. I feel like a large burden has been lifted off my shoulders."
Jimin stood up and headed towards the door. "I feel the same way." He smiled, before stepping out the door and closing it.
Jungkook went back to unpacking his things. He felt great. This was going to be an amazing day, and possibly an amazing night. At least he hoped so.
