10. Kiss Day

Adya sighed finally finding him at the corner of the bar. The closer she walked, more clearer the realisation became that he was- wasted! She pushed away the glass he was about to hold and narrowed her eyes at him. "Let's go." She ordered helping him up.

"Don't order me! I am not a waiter" He spoke with slurry speech.

Adya took in a sharp breath. Totally drunk! "Fine." She pulled his hand over and around her shoulders and wrapped her hand securely around his waist.

"I don't.. want.. to go.. with...you." he spoke, his words having untimely pauses.

"Don't. I will come with you." She said helping him balance his body.

"No. you. me. no," he said annoyed. He struggled and finally managed to get free of her hold, and seated himself upon the nearest bar stool. Adya was more than ever determined now. She snatched the glass he had held and poured out its content on the bar counter. She pulled him and wrapped her arms around him. Looking into his eyes she spoke, "Enough. it's night. you need sleep." He was drunk like an addict.

Dhruv made a face as she dragged him out. "I like...your smell" he said suddenly sniffing her. Adya rolled her eyes. A small smile threatening to appear on her face. They were walking along the rail side back to their room with one arm around his waist and keeping his arm on her shoulder.

"You love it," she stated more to herself.

"No. I don't love anything about you," he mumbled, pulling back his arm.

Adya struggled and kept his arm around herself. "We will talk in the morning." She spoke looking at him.

"No. I am not talking to you." He stood rooted on the spot. Adya sighed tired of dragging him.

He walked over to the railing, his gait showing how drunk he was.

"Dhruv, come here." she said walking close behind him.

He nodded in a no. Adya was losing her patience. She knew that wasn't the way out. Taking a deep breath she stepped ahead and stood before him. Cupping his face she made him look at her. "I love you."

He nodded negatively, turning about. Adya looked at him hurt as he walked away. At least he was walking in the direction of the room. She slowly followed. He was about to go ahead when she pulled him almost shoving him inside the room.

"I don't want to be here." he argued in his slurry voice. Adya stared at him and stepped closer unbuttoning the first few buttons. He stared at her. His eyes told he'll fall asleep any moment.

"Don't be here be on the bed." she said gently propelling him. He pulled her and she fell over him on the bed. She gasped looking at him squarely in the eyes. His intoxicated look did things to her like- pull the strings of her heart. He played with her looming locks. Adya was breathing heavy already. The scent of whisky coming from him drove Adya tipsy.

"I ...am trying Adya. To change, for you." he spoke softly, as his dazzling eyes teared up as he stared at her.

"I know," she said tracing her finger over his stubble covered cheek.

The next thing she knew was his eyes had closed. She lifted herself off him. She threaded her fingers through his hair and kissed his forehead affectionately. Removing his shoes she placed it on the rack. Biting back her tears she slipped onto the bed aside him and hugging him fell asleep.

Dhruv stirred feeling heavy. He struggled to open his eyes, his head hurt. It was like someone was constantly hammering his head. With a lot of effort he finally settled his eyelids keeping them wide apart. He saw her cuddled close to him. He blinked baffled. Closing his eyes he tried remembering the events of last night. The argument echoed in his head. He shot his eyes open staring at her. He heard a knock on the door. Someone from the other side informed that they had reached their destination.

The last thing he remembered was him walking out and sitting at the bar. He sat up, shifting Adya away from his body. He rubbed his palm over his face. A glance of Adya over him floated monetarily before him and then faded away. He turned to look at her. Tearing away his gaze he got off and quickly took a shower. When he cane out she was sitting up.

"We are at the destination," he stated buttoning his shirt without turning back to look at her.

He then walked about the room packing his things. His head hurting like crazy.

"Are you okay?" She asked softly.

He paused momentarily and then resumed doing what he was up to without responding. She stared at him. Drama! She stretched getting off the bed and walked into the washroom after grabbing her clothes. "Dhruv, do you wash the bathroom?" She screamed. He stared at the door of the bathroom. He gathered his bags, wore his shoes and left the room with all his things.

Adya came out wiping her face. She looked around and was confused to not see him. In minutes, she noticed everything that belonged to him was missing. His side of the bed was tided up. Her lips formed a frown and she slumped on to the bed her eyes pricking with tears. She tightened her lips and let the tears roll down. This feeling was the worst kind. Emptiness.

* * *

She stormed towards the hotel's room where she was informed he was staying. Her sunglasses concealing her eyes which held pain and anger. She knocked aloud. He opened the door, his expression giving away that he wasn't expecting her. She barged in and he moved backwards.

"What?" He asked angrily.

"You left me alone. What's this sudden ignoring tactic? You..."

"Shut up and leave. I don't want to talk" he snarled.

"We need to talk." She said pushing up her sunglasses, her eyes looking straight at him.

"You hear me? I said leave." He replied adamantly.

"I do. But I am not leaving till you tell me what your problem is..I am.." She began skeptically.

"Adya. Leave." He said glaring at her.

She stepped closer. "I won't."

"You don't want me to.." He warned, his eyes promising anger.

"Try me, " she snapped back.

He held her by her elbow pulling her towards the door.

"Stop doing this." She spoke, her voice in a plea.

"Exactly!" His crisp voice replied.

Tears formed in her eyes. She got free of his hold. "You want me to leave?"

"I have been saying that ever since you entered the room," he scowled angrily.

"Fine," she mumbled. Her eyes accusing him. He folded his hands waiting for her to move. He was very angry. She couldn't walk-in amd then walkout when she wished.

She began moving towards the door but she suddenly stopped. She turned to look at him. But he didn't even look in her direction. She walked back up to him. She held his hand. Her fingers interlocking with his. He turned to her staring at her. No matter what she said or did, he wouldn't go back. No, he wouldn't. He repeated it to himself.

"Thank you!" She said softly looking at his hand. His heart twisted in pain. She dragged his hand up in the air towards her lips. "Past few days were beautiful ... It'd be a pity to leave out this...Happy Kiss Day. Goodbye." She spoke whilst delicately placing a kiss on his hand. He swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. He looked aside. His face void of any emotion.

Tears dropped from her eyes as she walked away. Perhaps she had closed all doors that took him to her. Maybe she had been to selfish to see the damage her selfishness was causing.

Once she had walked out shutting the door, Dhruv let the hold on himself slip. He let those tears flow down his cheeks. He loved her. But couldn't take anymore pain she caused. Maybe they weren't meant to be. He looked at the back of his plan where she had kissed. His tears fell right over washing away the goodbye kiss.

Sorry for the delay. Got busy with a few things.

Would love to know your expectations as we near the end.
