Richard and Violet were both like any normal children in their times: like monkeys who like playing around, having fun and messing with stuff.

However, when the toxic haze that can induce cannibalistic properties became widespread due to a large biochemical accident, everything has changed and the two innocent children, now both orphans, were forced to leave childhood and mature earlier than expected.

Now facing a dilemma because of Violet's broken gas mask, Richard can either shoot her head off or let Violet kill him; but in the end, while sobbing harshly, he chose to shoot Violet before killing himself.
