Ravina sets things right

EXT. DESERTED ISLAND. RAVINA'S HOUSE- EARLY MORNING - ESTABLISHING

The two-story house has shoji doors and thatched roofing. It overlooks a steep cliffside, a fifteen-meter drop into crystal clear waters that stretch into infinity. The sun breaches the horizon, the sky hues of cotton candy as the darkness recedes into memory. A dense forest, rainbow eucalyptus, banana trees, and mango groves as far as the eye can see surrounds this monochromatic house.

INT. RAVINA'S HOUSE- IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING

THOMAS, a man with a sharp, chiseled face, deep green eyes, and tousled brown hair, finds himself bound and tied to a chair. He is in a dark, spacious cell. There are no windows, and an unknown language sprawls around him. Thomas OBSERVES that the writing on the floor forms an eight-sided star. He also REALIZES that he's not alone.

Sharing the room with his is RAVINA, a beautiful woman with eyes like a calm shore. She has a fitted shirt, the top two buttons were undone to expose her impressive body. Ravina glares at him with hate in her eyes, and several buckets line the cell, a table of sharp objects just behind her.

"I wanted to believe in you, Thomas," Ravia says. "I really did."

Ravina SNAPS her fingers and the writing on the floor GLOWS a brilliant white. Thomas immediately begins to shiver. Ravina procures a rag from the table and tilts Thomas's head back.

Thomas struggles and tries to scream, but his body refuses to move, and no words form. Ravina WATERBOARDS Thomas for what seems to be an eternity. Thomas feels the cold water splash against his face, the sensation of drowning, and the pain of hypothermia wrack his body.

"You cover your tracks well," Ravina says. "Had you never met me, I doubt anyone would ever know."

Ravina waterboards Thomas until she runs out of water. Thomas becomes a shivering, sobbing wreck. Ravina removes the rag from his face and stares at him, her eyes beautiful and dangerous.

Glaring at Ravina, Thomas says, "I have no idea what the fuck--"

Ravina DRIVES a knife into his right thigh. The pain is like a fresh fire blooming from the wound. Ravina twists the knife and smiles at him before slowly wrenching the blade free. THOMAS SCREAMS.

THOMAS: Y-y-you-you're not. You're not going to get away with this you crazy fucking...

RAVINA: I already have gotten away with this, Thomas. Once you're dead, no amount of money is going to save you. People will forget who you are.

Ravina DRIVES the knife into his left thigh, once, twice, and a third time for good measure. Thomas gasps for air, the pain debilitates his ability to even speak. The blood pours into a pool on the ground.

Ravina: No one will care that you're gone. If anything, the world will be a better place.

Ravina snaps her fingers and the language on the floor glows red before the light fades back into unsettling normalcy. To his horror, Thomas saw that his wounds were healed.

Thomas (shivering): ...what's going on? How're you doing this?

Ravina punches Thomas in the gut with the driving force of a sledgehammer, the air escapes his lungs completely.

Ravina: It feels good, having power over others. People with power can take whatever they want from those weaker than they are.

Ravina drags the knife across Thomas's face and aims it just millimeters away from his throat.

Ravina: I mean, that's why you do what you do, RIGHT? Because you can, and no one can stop you.

Thomas shivers, a coldness wrought from fear. "Look, Ravina... I've got a lot of money. Name your price, and it's yours. I won't." Thomas takes a moment to catch his breath and then, "I won't even seek revenge." As tears well up in his eyes, his lips begin to quiver. "I... I don't wanna die. Please. Please don't kill me."

Ravina lowers her face closer to Thomas, "All those women you doomed. If you tell me why you did it, I'll let you go."

Thomas: Why the fuck does that even matter to--

Ravina slashes her blade across Thomas's neck. He gargles for life as the blood fills his throat. Ravina watches him as the light leaves his eyes. Ravina THROWS the blade on the ground and it hits the stone floor with a loud CLANG. She leaves the room.

INT. RAVINA'S DINING ROOM - IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING

The dining room has a long table with an eloquent, black tablecloth and a vase of red spider lilies as the centerpiece. Ravina had prepared herself steak and rice, with a side of roasted cauliflower and a tall glass of dark, aged whiskey. Ravina eats her steak and revels in the flavor. As she continues to eat her steak, she smiles as a voice in her head intones warmly.

"You did really well today. I'm proud of you."

Ravina leans back a bit, "I'd prefer if you contacted me in person, Akeno."

Akeno (telepathically communicating with Ravina): I don't have the luxury of teleportation magic, Ravina. Besides, this is part of the deal, remember?

Ravina swirls her whiskey and admires the glass. She sips the whiskey, and her eyes close in delight.

Akeno (Cont'd): By the way, you were never going to let him go. You've killed every member you've met.

Ravina: I like to give people a chance to admit to their sins. It just feels right, is all.

Akeno: You're a good person, Ravina. I hope you know that.

Ravina: Thank you, but I don't really know that. I'm just doing what I want to do. I've always been this way.

Akeno: Maaaaybe, but the world is still a better place thanks to what you're doing.

Ravina: I guess, for what it's worth, I'm glad to make the world a better place.

Akeno: For a better world.

Ravina offers a toast to the voice in her head "For a better world."
