Setting The Wolf Free - Ch 20
Woo! Part 2 of the backstory :D I realise I said it was a flashback, but that was a complete lie. Ashley wasn't even born when this stuff happened. Hell, her Grandfather wasn't even born yet lol. So it's NOT a flashback. MY BAD.
**Also, all of the characters, plots and abilities in this story (especially the Katsuryoku) that don't exist in the REAL Naruto anime/manga belong to ME. Do NOT use them in ur stories, UNLESS you have permission from me first >:( I'm starting to get annoyed with people stealing my ideas.**
If you ever see a story that uses my characters, kekkei genkais etc and you don't think they've asked me, PLEASE let me know! I know there are story thieves here, as I've seen a few authors get their stories ripped off. It's not right!
Anyway, please enjoy :)

The Demon sits back on its haunches, slowly turning its head and glancing at the snarling Wolves surrounding it, their teeth bared viciously.
“R-Raku!” a distressed Mila cries in the background, head buried in her hands, as she kneels beside the Wolf’s remains, though not much of him had survived the blast of the Demon’s attack. “A-And Delilah!”
The Demon’s ear twitches slightly at the sound of Mila’s voice, something about it seeming familiar to the unconscious man inside the thick coat of chakra.
“What is that?” one of the Wolves asks, shaking his head.
“I don’t care” Doltan snarls, his blood boiling with hatred for the bizarre creature before him. “It killed my son! So now, I’m going to destroy it!”
“Hold it Doltan” another of the Wolves warns. “You’ll be of no help here. You sense chakra, you’re not a fighter.”
“What?!” a furious Doltan snaps, the Chief giving his beloved Guardian a sympathetic look from behind him.
“You’re not a fighter Doltan!” Kiiton, a large black Wolf growls irritably. “You’ll just get yourself killed as well! Leave this to us!”
Before Doltan can reply, the Demon suddenly launches itself forwards, feeling the need to kill something.
Kiiton bares his teeth at the large Demon, before throwing himself forwards as well. He builds up chakra in his mouth, opening his jaws and shooting a chakra powered lightning bolt at the incoming Demon.
With a simple swipe of its arm, the Demon knocks the powerful strike away, opening its mouth and leaping at a wide eyed Kiiton.
The Wolf quickly focuses his chakra and releases a wave of chakra powered lightning, enveloping his body in electricity as the Demon lands on top of him.
The other Wolves launch themselves forwards, hearing Kiiton’s howl of pain, as the Demon’s stinging chakra burns into his flesh.
“Kiiton!” the Wolf’s partner cries, running forwards and throwing his arms into the air, causing a huge wall of fire to shoot up behind the Demon. It screeches in pain, before sweeping its six developed tails through the fire, causing it to blow out and disappear.
The Demon possessed Eran roars angrily, as three Wolves attack him, one tackling him with a flame ridden body, while the other two raise large spears of earth into the and ram them into Eran’s back.
Eran easily knocks the flaming Wolf away, slamming it against the hard earth, before he is thrown backwards by the impact of the two spears.
The two Wolves gasp, as their huge spears disintegrate upon touching the Demon’s body, the chakra eating away at the chakra-less objects.
The Demon shakes its head, before turning its glowing eyes on the two Wolves. They both freeze, eyes widening when the huge Demon rises to its feet and charges towards them. They yelp and whirl around, taking off at speed, to try and evade the rapidly approaching Demon.
Before the Demon can land a hit on the two retreating Wolves, it is slammed in the side by a huge wave of water, sweeping it off of its feet and crushing it against the meteor.
A strange, ear piercing screech emits from its throat, before it glares over at the three Minami’s who had thrown the wave at it. Shaking its head, the Demon sits back on its haunches, tilting its head back and opening its mouth.
A few people in the crowd gasp, watching as a ball of black chakra quickly forms above the Demon’s mouth.
“What’s it doing now?” someone in the crowd whispers, as everyone stares with wide, fear filled eyes at the creature before them.
Doltan suddenly leaps to his feet, ears pricked up.
“It’s concentrating a huge amount of chakra into that attack!” he shouts, as the Demon swallows the chakra sphere and looks down at the crowd of Minami’s. “Everybody, run!”
People begin screaming, as they all turn on their heels and start shoving each other out of the way, in their hurry to get away from the snarling Demon behind them.
It crouches down and leans forwards, a low, blood curdling growl escaping from its lips.
“C’mon Shiran!” Dalton calls, pulling his partner forwards hurriedly, before casting a look over his shoulder, only to see Mila still kneeling beside her beloved Guardian.
“Mila!” the large brown Wolf shouts frantically. “You’ll be killed! Run!”
Mila shakes her head, tears pouring from her eyes, as she runs her fingers over a small tuft of Raku’s white fur. She didn’t care if she died now. Her Guardian, her precious, beloved Guardian, was dead. Mila had no more will to live, no more reason to live. How could she stay alive, when her partner, the other part of her, was dead?
Mila looks up, only to see the raging Demon staring at her with its jaws agape. No, Mila didn’t want to live anymore.
The young woman closes her eyes, as the Demon snaps its jaws shut with a crack, shooting the immensely concentrated ball of chakra straight at her.
Dalton tackles his partner to the ground, as the chakra collides with Mila, resulting in a ground shaking explosion that blows another crater into the already damaged earth.
As debris rains down on the cowering Minami’s, the Demon suddenly pauses, a choking sound emitting from its throat. It begins trembling, its body wracked with inaudible coughs, before it drops to the ground, seemingly writhing in pain.
A sharp screech rips through the air, as the Demon’s tails begin slowly disappearing, its chakra fading back into a dark shadow, with Eran’s face visible.
“Huh?” someone whispers, before gasping. “Look! It’s Eran!”
Everyone raises their heads cautiously, peeking around to look back at the vicious Demon, only to see Eran lying on the ground, the last of the Demon’s chakra fading away into nothing.
“Eran?” Doltan asks softly, before rising to his feet and bravely bounding over to the unconscious man’s body. “Eran……..What happened to you?.......”
“So…..this is the Land of Ambience huh?” a red haired woman asks rhetorically, placing her hands on her hips and gazing around at the amazing greenery and the singing birds. “It’s pretty nice!”
“Nice?” another voice snorts, making the woman whirl around, eyebrow raised, as the sunlight reflects off of the Leaf Village symbol on her headband. “Can’t you see the smoke rising from over there?”
The woman turns back around, face dropping slightly when she notices the faint wisps of smoke floating into the air.
“Well, Lord Hokage did say a meteor had crashed into the Village” she decides, stepping out of the way as two more men walk down from the pier their ship had docked at. “So smoke is kind of inevitable I guess.”
A man with long raven hair blinks, staring off into the distance briefly.
“Let’s go” he commands, glancing back at his team. “We must find the Chief of the Village immediately.”
The red haired woman nods, grinning eagerly and giving a playful two fingered salute.
“Sure thing Boss” she jokes, earning a deadpan look from the raven haired man, before he turns around begins heading down a trail towards the Village.
“Careful there Uzumaki” a brown haired man whispers, making the red haired woman blink. “I’ve heard he’s not very trusting of others. Liaising with people we’ve only just signed an Alliance with probably puts him on edge.”
The woman snorts and pushes the tall man away from her, waving her hand dismissively.
“Yeah I know Hatsuchi” she sighs, wondering why the Hyuga always seemed to treat her like a child. “I’m not completely stupid! I’ve heard about him too!”
Hatsuchi smiles with amusement, before casting a quick look over his shoulder at their fourth teammate, a girl with short pink hair and uncertain blue eyes.
She bites her lip and glances up at the faint clouds of smoke, shuffling slowly behind her team.
“Hurry it up Kia” Hatsuchi advises over his shoulder. “Or you’ll get left behind.”
The girl nods, jogging up to Hatsuchi so as not to get lost. She was a few years younger than the others on her team, and now was the perfect chance to prove her worth to them. She specialised in Tracking and Sensing others chakra signatures, and she was sensing a very strange source of chakra coming from somewhere in the Ambience Village. It scared her quite a bit, but she didn’t have the courage to tell her team about the chakra. They’d just tease her. Well, Niora and Hatsuchi would, their current Squad Leader probably wouldn’t. He was too serious for petty teasing, and often opted for blunt honesty and dry remarks instead.
Travelling in relative silence for the next few minutes, the four Leaf Ninja quickly reach the outskirts of the Villages, their eyes widening at the sight before them.
The obviously beautiful and well kept Village was in shambles. Buildings toppled, debris lying everywhere, and blood. Blood was spattered all over the ground, on building walls, in the plant life, everywhere!
“What happened here?” Niora whispers, hand hovering in front of her mouth. “It’s like the Village was…..attacked or something….”
Hatsuchi looks down, feeling a hand clinging to his shirt, only to see that the hand belongs to a nervous looking Kia. She bites her lip again, glancing around at the devastation, an uneasy feeling settling in her stomach.
“Hey!” a sharp voice barks, capturing the Leaf Ninjas’ attentions. They see a large, shaggy brown Wolf trotting towards them, his ears laid back and his head low, as if wary of them.
“Who are you four?” the Wolf growls, making Niora screech in disbelief, as she jabs a hand at the surprised Wolf.
“Th-that Wolf just sp-spoke!” she cries, looking at the others with wide eyes. “Did you guys hear it?! It just spoke!”
The raven haired man sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose, before glancing back at Niora irritably.
“If you had listened to the brief” he begins lowly, onyx eyes glaring into her Saffire ones, “You would have heard the Hokage explain that the Wolves here can speak.”
Niora nods her head, feeling slightly embarrassed as Hatsuchi pokes his tongue out at her, and the raven haired man turns back to the Wolf.
“My apologies” he says quietly. “We are the Leaf Ninja sent here to aid you with determining the-”
“Ah yes, you’re here about the uh, meteor” the Wolf chuckles half heartedly. “Well, my name is Doltan, and if you’ll follow me, I will take you to the Chief.”
The raven haired man nods his head, following as the large Wolf turns around and begins the trek back to the Chief’s Tower.
Hatsuchi and Niora exchange sceptical looks, before the Uzumaki shrugs her shoulders and jogs after her Team Leader. Hatsuchi heaves a sigh, hoping his mission wasn’t about to become a whole lot more complicated than originally thought, tugging Kia along behind him as he follows Niora.
The pink haired girl sticks close to her Hyuga teammate, gazing around at the smouldering remains of buildings littering the ground, Wolves and humans alike huddled together in fear.
Kia wonders what could have happened to them to make them act in such a way, but she deduces that it has something to do with the creepy chakra she’s still sensing. Kia sucks in a breath, realising that the chakra source is getting closer and closer, the further the Leaf Ninja venture into the Ambience Village.
“Hatsuchi…” she addresses quietly, not noticing as Doltan’s ears flick back, his keen sense of hearing picking up on her voice. “I can….I can sense something weird coming from up ahead.”
“Weird?” Hatsuchi asks, tilting his head and turning his pale eyes down to the young girl beside him. Though he and Niora enjoyed teasing the ever nervous Kia, she was incredibly skilled at sensing chakra signatures, hence being temporarily placed on a team with the three older Jonin. If she said she was sensing something strange up ahead, the Hyuga was definitely going to take her seriously.
Kia nods, her short hair bobbing from the movement.
“Yes” she confirms softly, her pale blue eyes looking troubled. “I don’t know what it is, but…..it’s really creeping me out. It sends a shiver up my spine.”
Hatsuchi’s eyes narrow, before he raises his head and subtly scans the area around him, subtly trying to see if he can spot anything strange or abnormal that could possibly be the cause of the strange chakra.
“Judging by your words” a deep voice speaks up from ahead, making Kia and Hatsuchi look forwards, “I’m assuming you can sense chakra young one?”
Kia pauses, feeling strange about having a Wolf talk to her, before she nods her head.
“Yes, I specialise in Tracking and Sensing chakra signatures” she explains quietly, making Doltan nod wisely and turn to glance at her over his shoulder.
“So you can feel the darkness and malevolence in it?” he questions, Kia’s blue eyes widening slightly. How did the Wolf know what she could feel?
Doltan chuckles humourlessly, stopping outside the door of a tall, stone building.
“I also have the ability to sense chakra” he says simply, pressing his shoulder against the heavy doors and pushing them open.
The Leaf Ninja gaze around in awe, seeing the white marble floors and the rich paintings hanging from the wall. A large, marble fountain sits in the middle of the room, splashing softly, with a tall, spiralling staircase to the right of it.
“Please follow me Leaf Ninja” Doltan asks, sitting on the first step of the staircase and watching the Ninja intently. “I will take you to the Chief, and he will further explain our predicament to you.”
Kia shudders as she steps through the doors, feeling the strange source of chakra coming from directly below her.
Hatsuchi gently pushes her forwards, silently encouraging her on, knowing that the chakra is really beginning to concern the young Kunoichi.
“The source of that chakra is being kept down in our old underground prison” Doltan explain, seeing the girl’s discomfort. “He is being held securely, so you have no need to worry.”
Kia nods, biting her lip and slowly beginning to climb the staircase behind the silent raven haired man.
“He?” Niora asks in a loud whisper, raising her eyebrows at Hatsuchi, who merely shrugs. He wasn’t going to question it. The Chief of the Village would no doubt explain things when they reached his office.
After climbing the stairs to the fifth floor of the Chief’s Tower, Doltan pauses in front of a door with the Minami Clan symbol on it.
“Shiran?” the Wolf calls, glancing back at the silent Leaf Ninja. “I have some guests who would like to see you.”
“Come in!” is the muffled reply, before Doltan pushes the door open and steps inside the room, ushering the Leaf Ninja in with a sweep of his tail.
Chief Shiran’s eyes widen slightly, his eyes immediately zoning in on the Leaf Village symbol on the newcomers’ headbands. Finally!
“Welcome to the Land of Ambience my friends” Chief Shiran greets, rising from his seat as Doltan quietly closes the door behind the Ninja. “I am Chief Shiran Minami, Leader of the Minami Clan. Though our land isn’t looking its best right now, I hope you can make yourselves at home.”
The raven haired man takes a step forwards, inclining his head respectfully.
“Thank you Chief” he says lowly, raising his onyx eyes to meet the tall man’s fuchsia ones. “I am Madara Uchiha, Leader of the Squad standing before you. My team, Hatsuchi Hyuga, Niora Uzumaki and Kia Amarante.”
Chief Shiran smiles at the Ninja, as Niora gives him a wide grin, Hatsuchi nods his greeting and Kia stares at the floor shyly.
“This is my faithful Guardian, Doltan” the Chief adds, gesturing towards the large Wolf sitting at the back of the room. “Although it seems you have already met……”
Madara continues watching the Chief, not really caring much for the introductions. He just wanted answers.
“Chief” the Uchiha speaks up, catching Shiran’s attention. “Please forgive my forwardness, but what exactly have we been hired to do here?”
The Chief nods, exchanging a quick look with his Guardian, before sitting back in his chair and leaning his elbows on the edge of his desk. His eyes focus on the four Ninja before him, as he folds his hands in front of his mouth.
“Ah yes…..” Shiran begins, a thoughtful look passing across his face. “Well, originally we wanted your help with a meteor that had crashed onto our Village.”
“Originally?” Niora asks, shoulder drooping slightly. “Soooo, I’m guessing there’s something else you want us to do?”
The Chief nods, as Madara sends his teammate an annoyed look over his shoulder.
“I’m afraid so Miss Uzumaki” Shiran sighs, leaning back in his chair and turning his head to stare out of a window. “When the meteor landed, Doltan and Ra…..another Wolf were sensing a strange chakra emanating from the rock. It confused us greatly, and we decided to make it a restricted area, as the two Wolves were sure that something untoward was inside the meteor.”
“Chakra inside a meteor?” Kia asks softly, looking confused, as Doltan nods slowly.
“Yes” he murmurs, a far away look in his eyes. “My son and I could feel something…..evil radiating from the huge rock, but we had no clue what it could be. We’d never felt anything like it before……”
“That’s why we originally contacted the Leaf Village” Shiran picks up, seeing the hurt flashing through Doltan’s eyes at the mention of his late son. “We needed help determining what the source of chakra could be, since we Minami don’t use our chakra.”
Chief Shiran takes a deep breath and releases it slowly, closing his eyes for brief moment.
“However” he says lowly, casting his eyes back on the silent Leaf Ninja, studying them as they listen intently to his words. “The chakra is no longer inside of the meteor, so we will be able to move that ourselves.”
Niora’s eyes widen, as Madara’s narrow suspiciously at the dark haired man before him.
“It’s not in the meteor anymore?” the red haired woman questions incredulously. “Chakra doesn’t just disappear! So where did it go?”
Shiran’s face darkens at the question, as Doltan sighs and rises to his feet.
“Come with us Leaf Ninja” the Wolf instructs, pulling the office door back open.
Eran slowly opens his eyes, groaning with pain. He ached all over, as if he’d been beaten for the last few hours.
He rolls his neck a few times, trying to rid himself of the stiffness. Attempting to move his arm, Eran releases a low sigh as he feels the cold steel digging into his wrist.
The man tilts his head back, leaning it against the freezing stone wall behind him, hooded eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.
He was back here again. That could only mean one thing. He’d attacked the Village…..again.
“So…..the chakra poured itself into that guy’s body?” Niora whispers, staring wide eyed at the tall man chained to the wall in front of her.
Eran closes his eyes and grits his teeth, listening to the people standing before him. He knew what had happened, to a point, and he didn’t need to hear the story being retold in front of him. It hurt him enough to think about it, let alone to hear others discussing it.
“Yes” Doltan says quietly, casting the young man a sympathetic, yet wary look. “Eran doesn’t seem to have any control over the power. It will suddenly just…..leak out of him and take over his body. We’ve had to resort to keeping him down here, although when we decided to be kind and bring him up for fresh air early this morning, the power took over him again and he went on a rampage…..Hence the damage you all saw when you arrived a few hours ago.”
Kia studies the man before her, squinting her eyes as she focuses on his chakra, which seems to be rather dormant at the moment, despite the dark aura it’s giving off. What could it possibly be? She’d never felt a chakra like it before either.
“Have there been many casualties?” Madara asks bluntly, narrowing his dark eyes at Eran, as his head weakly lolls forwards.
Doltan winces at the question, spotting the quick look of pain flashing across Eran’s face. Chief Shiran runs a hand down his face and nods.
“Yes” he sighs. “We’re not sure of exactly how many lives have been lost yet, but it’s definitely into the hundreds I’m afraid. In the four days since the power first took over Eran, he’s gone on multiple rampages, before the chakra will just suddenly recede and leave him unconscious on the ground.”
Niora nods her head slowly, scrutinising the handsome young man before her, an idea beginning to form in her mind. Her theory was possible…….It was highly unlikely, but that didn’t mean it was impossible.
Hatsuchi jumps, as Eran suddenly raises his head and fixes his fuchsia eyes on a frozen Kia. Her heart begins beating hard against her ribcage, as she feels the chakra inside the young man beginning to build up, increasing in power.
“R…..R..un” Eran whispers, almost inaudibly, as his head flops forwards weakly.
Kia’s eyes widen in horror, a wave of panic washing over her as the strange chakra grows more evil, filled with hate and blood lust.
“We need to get out of here!” Kia suddenly cries, latching onto Niora’s arm and pushing her towards the exit. “We need to run!”
Doltan and Shiran cast Kia a wary look, before the Wolf’s eyes widen as well. His ability to sense chakra was not as sharply finetuned as Kia’s, and he had just sensed the sudden increase in Eran’s chakra as well.
“Chief!” he barks, shoving the tall man towards the exit as well. “It’s happening again! We must leave!”
The Chief sucks in a sharp breath, ushering the Leaf Ninja ahead of him, and casting a look back at Eran.
The man gives him a helpless look, as shadowy chakra begins swirling around him. Niora gasps at the sight of a tail forming behind Eran’s body, her theory becoming that little bit more plausible, before she whirls around and bounds up the stairway to the outside world.
The red head bursts out into the street, with Kia and Hatsuchi right behind her. Madara strides out into the light confidently, his mouth set in a firm, straight line. He wasn’t worried. He was one of the strongest Ninja alive in his own opinion, not to mention he was an Uchiha on top of that.
The Chief and Doltan run out of the ground, before the large Wolf slams the heavy wooden doors back over the underground entrance. The Chief uses his Katsuryoku to move a heavy boulder on top of the door, barricading Eran inside.
Kia shivers, hugging arms across her chest tightly, legs shaking as she senses the chakra rapidly growing more powerful below her and her teammates.
“That door’s not going to hold him” she whispers, as Niora pulls the young girl into a reassuring hug. She casts her sapphire eyes on Madara, who seems unconcerned with the whole situation.
“Madara” Niora addresses seriously, catching the man’s attention. “That chakra……When it was swirling around him….It……It’s definitely the chakra of a Demon.”
Everyone’s eyes widen as they turn to look at her, the ground beginning to tremble underneath their feet.
“What?” Madara growls, giving the red haired Kunoichi a hard look. She nods, holding his gaze.
“I’m sure of it!” she insists, holding Kia tighter as the young girl whimpers, the ground shaking violently and almost making her legs buckle.
“A Demon?” Shiran repeats, perplexed, as a light seems to go off in Doltan’s head.
“That would explain the hideous aura the chakra gives off” he barks, leaping to his feet and staring at Niora with wide eyes. “A Demon’s chakra! I think you’re right Leaf Ninja! He does look a lot like a Demon when he changes form….”
“When he…..changes form?” Hatsuchi questions incredulously, when something suddenly explodes out of the ground, making Kia scream as she and Niora are thrown across the earth.
Madara leaps backwards, narrowly avoiding being crushed by a giant, claws foot, as Hatsuchi is slashed across the face by something sharp, the wound sizzling and burning painfully.
Doltan bares his teeth up at the large creature now standing above them, as Chief Shiran shakes his head and groans, having been thrown backwards into a wall.
Niora and Kia sit up slowly, only for Kia to squeal in fright and throw her hand over her mouth, eyes wavering in fear at the giant animal before her.
“I knew it” Niora whispers, clenching her fists in determination as she glares at the creature. “A Demon….”
Madara watches from the tree he’s standing in, observing the dark creature in front of him. He could feel the hatred and blood lust radiating from it, and he was quite fascinated. To be able to wield such power…….He’d be able to defeat Hashirama for sure. This creature felt even more powerful than the Nine Tails. If only he could figure out a way to control the beast…….
Hatsuchi sits up, one hand pressed firmly against his cheek, trying to lessen the pain and stop the bleeding. What had hit him? Whatever it was, it was sharp and full of chakra, if the burning sensation was anything to go by.
The huge, black Wolf turns its head in all directions, glowing red eyes searching the land wildly, as its eight tails whip through the air crazily.
“Eran!” the Chief cries out in disbelief, having never seen the beast so big before. He’d only ever seen it with the six tails, since he counted them every time it made an appearance.
Villagers in the street suddenly begin screaming, bringing the Wolf’s attention down to them. With a nasty smirk, the Wolf raises its huge, clawed paw, and slams it down on the ground. The ground shakes violently, some already broken buildings crumbling to the earth, as some of the screaming Villagers are crushed under the beast’s foot.
“Hey!” Niora shouts, the Wolf’s keen red eyes flicking down to her indignant face. “Stop killing people you monster!”
The Wolf’s lips pull back into a sinister grin, as a deep, booming laugh sounds through the air, making everyone flinch.
“You are in no position to be commanding me human!” the beast roars, turning around to face Niora, as she shove Kia away and pulls out a long scroll.
Ripping the scroll open, a determined Niora bites her thumb and swipes her blood across the parchment, leaving a crimson trail on the symbols written down.
“Summoning Jutsu!” she cries, performing a hand sign, before she is enveloped in a cloud of smoke.
As the Wolf stares with intrigue, Niora suddenly leaps out of the cloud, wielding a huge, black shuriken.
With a grunt, Niora brings her arms back and launches the huge shuriken at the beast, before it brings up its arms and slams its paws together, as if trying to squash a fly.
“What?” the beast growls, only to open his palms and see nothing. “A illusion?”
“Can’t believe you fell for that one!” comes a shout from behind the monster, making its neck wrench around. Niora grins nastily, leaping down from a building and swinging a heavy, spiked mace above her head.
The Demon Wolf smirks, as Niora flings her arms down, slamming the heavy weapon down on the Demon’s head with a sickening crunch, the spikes piercing into its skull.
“Yes!” Niora cries, pumping a fist in the air. Her smile drops as she lands on the creatures head and it begins chuckling evilly.
“Hey! What’s so fu- Ah! Ahhh! AHHH! Hothothot!” Niora screams in pain, as the Wolf’s chakra burns into her flesh.
Shaking its head vigorously, Niora is thrown down towards the ground, crashing heavily onto her back.
“Niora!” Hatsuchi shouts, eyes widening in horror as the Demon Wolf brings one of its tails whipping down towards the groaning Uzumaki.
Hatsuchi darts forwards, swiftly performing a set of hand signs and gritting his teeth. He had to make it!
“Eight Trigrams!” Hatsuchi exclaims, releasing his chakra. “Palm Rotation!”
Skidding to a halt beside Niora, Hatsuchi begins spinning rapidly in a circle, the stream of chakra he’s releasing forming a shield around the both of them.
As the Wolf’s tail slams down on Hatsuchi’s shield, it roars in pain and quickly retracts its tail, snarling down at the Hyuga, who comes to a slow stop.
“You’re not killing anyone else” Hatsuchi says lowly, bravely returning the Demon’s angry glare. Intent on proving him wrong, the Wolf suddenly slams its tails down against the earth behind it, crushing more of the screaming Villagers and toppling more of the buildings.
Kia whimpers as she falls to the ground, unable to stand from the earthquake the Wolf is creating.
“Stop trying to fight it Leaf Ninja!” Chief Shiran calls, Doltan standing in front of him and growling up at the Demon. “We’ve tried everything to defeat it! It’s too powerful! You can’t fight it, you’ll just be killed!”
The Wolf Demon laughs darkly, enjoying the panic of the puny humans below him. He lifts his tails back up, whipping them through the air wildly as he glances down at the Chief.
“Listen to him Leaf Ninja” the beast drawls, clearly amused by the situation. “He speaks the truth, and you’d do well to listen. You’ll still die of course, but there’s no point in fighting the inevitable.”
Niora and Hatsuchi glare up at the huge demon, before the red haired woman turns to look at the shaking Kia.
“Kia!” she calls, making the pink haired girl look up. “We could really use your Lightning Style right now! I have a theory!”
Kia glances up at the grinning Demon timidly, before nodding and pushing herself to her feet. Despite her fear, she had to be brave, or more lives would be lost.
“Ram, Boar, Dog, Bird Hare” she mutters as she performs each hand sign, before glaring determinedly up at the terrifying monster. “Lightning Style: Four Pillar Trap!”
The girl pours her chakra into the ground, as four giant mounds of rock shoot up from the ground around the Demon. Before it can react, bolts of lightning shoot from the rocks, electrocuting the Demon and holding it inside an electrified barrier. It howls in pain, eyes scrunching closed from the powerful Jutsu.
“Good job Kia!” Hatsuchi compliments, as the girl smiles weakly, giving him a shaky thumbs up.
“Alright” Niora begins, pulling a face as Hatsuchi helps her to her feet. “We don’t have long til he breaks free.”
Niora quickly glances around for Madara, only to spot him observing the snarling Demon from the top of a tree. She rolls her eyes and shakes her head, deciding not to worry about the strange man.
“That’s obviously a Demon” Niora begins seriously, her gaze switching between Hatsuchi, Kia and Chief Shiran. “Though it’s possible to seal Demons inside of people, I don’t think this one has been sealed inside of that Eran guy.”
“You’re talking about Jinchuuriki’s aren’t you?” Hatsuchi questions, making his red headed teammate nod.
“Yeah, but he’s not a Jinchuuriki” she says decisively, as Kia stumbles over to them both.
“What makes you say that?” she asks timidly, flinching when she sees the Demon turn his angry red eyes on her.
“This Demon comes and goes as it pleases” Niora says seriously. “As a kid, before I moved to the Leaf Village, I heard stories about this guy who sealed a powerful Demon into a huge stone prison, and sent it up into the sky. That prison became the moon…….This Demon arrived here in a meteor right?”
Kia and Hatsuchi’s eyes widen, shaking their heads slowly. That couldn’t really happen……Could it?
“I bet this is that Demon!” Niora concludes, turning to glare at the beast, who is struggling to break free from his electrified prison. “He was sealed into the rock, and when Eran touched the stone, the Demon transferred itself into his body-”
“Too smart for your own good girl” the Demon growls over the sound of crackling electricity. “You’ll be the first to go!”
Ignoring the taunting beast, Niora continues explaining her theory, eyes flashing determinedly.
“He’s not sealed inside of Eran’s body, like the way a Jinchuuriki’s Demon is” she says hurriedly, wanting to get to her point. “I think we should try and draw the beast out of Eran’s body so that we can s-”
“Will that kill him though?” Kia whispers, sweating as she sees the Demon smash down one of the rocks shooting electricity into his body.
“I hope not” Niora laughs nervously. “Like I said, that thing isn’t sealed in him, so you wouldn’t think it would kill him. If we can manage to draw the monster out of Eran, then I can use my Fuinjutsu to seal the beast back into him.”
“How will that help?” Hatsuchi snaps, looking annoyed. “We’re just gonna put it right back?!”
Niora sends the man an irritable look, sick of being questioned. She knew a lot more about Demons and Sealing than her teammates, so they should really just shut up and trust her.
“If I seal it back inside of him” she explains hastily, seeing the Demon kick another rock mound down, “He’ll have some control over the Demon’s power. It won’t be able to run free like it is now!”
The Leaf Ninja all flinch, as an explosion sounds behind them, sending chunks of rock flying over their heads.
“Pathetic humans” the Demon snarls, laying its ears back against its head and baring its teeth at them. “None of your silly little attacks will work against me!”
“Oh yeah?” Hatsuchi challenges, catching the Wolf’s attention as Kia and Niora run away. “If we’re so pathetic, why are you using a human as your vessel huh?”
The Wolf narrows its eyes at Hatsuchi, feeling its anger growing at the tone of the Hyuga’s voice.
“Too scared to come out and face us as yourself hey?” Hatsuchi snorts, shaking his head and smirking at the Demon. “Stupid Demon, you’re more pathetic than us!”
The Wolf Demon snarls angrily at Hatsuchi, its tails whipping back and forth with irritation.
“You dare to mock me tiny human?!” it thunders, rising to its full height as another tail sprouts, totalling nine all together. “Your arrogance will cost you your life!”
The Demon leaps forwards with a roar, aiming to crush the seemingly cool Hyuga beneath its paws. Hatsuchi begins spinning again, releasing a powerful stream of chakra and shielding himself, as one of the Demon’s paws slams down on top of him.
Hatsuchi winces, as he feels himself be pushed down into the ground, before the Demon roars in pain and pulls its foot back, blood dripping from the torn flesh underneath its paw.
The Demon growls deep inside its throat, its eyes clouding over angrily.
“Very well human” he sneers, licking his lips. “I shall face you in my true form. Let it be known that I warned you beforehand. You will bask in the glory of the Ten Tails, before you are sent into the afterlife!”
Madara, crouching low on top of the tee, watches the Demon through his activated Sharingan, etching the memory into his mind. He could analyse the creature better with his Sharingan, and possibly find a weakness, or a way to control it.
A tiny smirk crawls onto his face, watching, as the Demon turns into a wispy shadow, it’s glowing red eyes glaring brightly as Eran’s body suddenly becomes visible in the midst of the shadows.
He drops to the ground as the giant shadow steps backwards, separating itself from the young man.
“Eran!” Chief Shiran calls, wanting to run over and grab the man, but pausing when he sees the demonic red eyes land on him.
Suddenly, the shadow grows in height, slowly becoming darker and darker, until the Demon Wolf is clearly visibly again, his long black fur billowing in the wind.
Ten tails flail behind it, waves of chakra pulsing and radiating from the Demon’s body as it moves.
Hatsuchi’s pale eyes widen at the sight of the enormous stature of the unnatural beast before him, his mouth opening and closing in shock.
How were they supposed to defeat something that huge?! It would be impossible!
“You must be realising what a mistake you made in taunting me human” the demon laughs, baring its gleaming white teeth, a bright contrast to the midnight black of the creature’s fur. “Look at me human, and see your death!”
Hatsuchi scowls at the Demon, eyes subtly flicking down and seeing Kia sneaking over to Eran’s unconscious body.
He grits his teeth, and clenches his hands into fists. This had to work. It just had to!
“Hmm……And what have we here?” the Demon chuckles, making Kia freeze, as the beast looks down at her, eyes shining with blood lust. “A snack perhaps? Silly girl, you can’t have him!”
“Kia!” Hatsuchi shouts, running forwards and performing hand signs as the Demon’s head snaps down towards the terrified girl.
“Eight Trigrams: Mountain Breaker Attack!” Hatsuchi shouts, thrusting his palm forwards and sending a chakra power sonic wave at the Demon’s head.
Just before the Wolf can snap its jaws around Kia, Hatsuchi’s attack blasts into the side of its face, sending its head violently whipping to the side.
“Run Kia!” Hatsuchi calls frantically, as the girl leaps back into action, grabbing Eran by the legs and dragging him into the shadowed safety of a ruined building.
“Foolish human…..” the Demon growls, narrowing its angry eyes at Hatsuchi. “You cannot win, so why bother fighting me?”
“Even if we can’t win” Hatsuchi growls, placing his hands together in another hand sign. “We’re going to die trying.”
The Demon smirks, a low chuckle escaping his lips.
“That you will.”
Before Hatsuchi can react, the huge Demon suddenly launches itself forwards, its paws thundering against the ground as it races towards Hatsuchi.
The Hyuga manages to dive out of the way, as one of the Wolf’s tails stabs itself into the ground, aiming for him.
Hatsuchi slides across the ground on his back, performing hand signs as he stops directly under the Demon’s stomach.
“Eight Trigrams Air Palm!” he shouts, thrusting his palm forwards and sending a powerful wave of chakra fuelled air up at the creatures stomach.
He quickly rolls out of the way as the Demon growls and tries to stomp on him. Hatsuchi cries out in pain, as one of the Wolf’s tails whips him across the back, sending him skidding along the ground and crashing into a wall.
“N-Niora?” the Hyuga stutters, slowly leaning up on his elbows. “Can you h-hurry it up please?!”
“I’m going as fast as I can Hatsuchi!” comes the muffles reply from behind the wall. “Just distract him for a bit longer!”
“What?!” Hatsuchi cries, looking annoyed. “And just how am I mean to do th- AAAARRRGGHHH!”
Niora pauses in her writing of symbols on the ground, peeking over the stone wall, only to gasp in horror as she sees Hatsuchi dangling from the Demon’s mouth, his leg securely clamped between its teeth.
“DAMMIT!” the Hyuga scream in frustration, gritting his teeth from the pain. Blood pours down his leg, dripping down his body and clothing, and falling to the earth far below him.
“I told you it was foolish” the Demon chuckles, enjoying the taste of blood on his lips. “And since you mocked me, I shall make this rather painful for you.”
With that, the Demon whips his head towards the ground, opening his mouth and throwing Hatsuchi towards the ground at speed.
The Hyuga cries out in pain as he slams heavily into the earth, his body creating a small crater in the Earth.
Hatsuchi groans loudly, struggling to move or even open his eyes. That impact had no doubt broken a lot of bones, not to mention done some serious internal damage.
“You’re not dead yet?” the Demon questions mockingly, standing over Hatsuchi and grinning evilly, his teeth shining brightly. “You’re quite resilient for a weak human.”
Hatsuchi closes his eyes and sighs with defeat, as the Demon leans down towards him, jaws agape.
“Hold it” a serious voice commands, making the Demon pause momentarily.
“If you think he’s so weak” the voice says, “Then perhaps you’ll fine me more of a challenge.”
Hatsuchi cracks an eye open, only to be met with the sight of someone’s back, spiked raven hair cascading down.
“Oh?” the Demon asks in amusement. “And you are?”
The man’s red eyes narrow.
“I am Madara Uchiha.”
