Mike's Guilty Conscience.

((This was supposed to happen over a longer period of time but tbh I'm running out of filler stuff and you guys want purplephone, not microphone, so... hAVE FUN: ))

Scott smiled at Mike, "So, you wanna go on another date?"

"Sure," Mike said. "I enjoyed our last one."

Not that their last date had really been much of a date..

"So," Scott said, walking alongside Mike, their fingers intertwined, "Where do you want to go?"

Mike shrugged slightly, "I don't know. How about just somewhere casual. Burger King?"

Scott laughed, "Burger King? Not exactly the most romantic setting for a first date."

"Maybe not," Mike said, "But it'll be fun."

"Uh..." Scott blinked for a second, "You're serious? Um. Okay, sure. Let's... Let's go to Burger King."

Mike steered Scott towards the Food Court of the shopping centre. It was Friday. Two days after Scott had agreed to being Mike's boyfriend.

Scott hummed, squeezing Mike's hand, "I'm so glad I'm here with you~"

Mike smiled back, "I'm glad I'm here with you, too."

They walked into the store, Mike quickly saying that he'd order for Scott and walking up to the register.

"Hello, welcome to Burger King, what can I get you?" A lady behind the counter regarded him through blue eyes with heavy make-up.

"Um," Mike looked down at the cash register - or so it looked. His eyes were in honesty more busy with... something else. Two very large something elses. Now  this was more his type, "I'll have two Quarter Pounders and two Pepsis. Thanks." Heh, and maybe some chicken breast, if you know what I mean...

"Your order number is 127. Please stop staring at my breasts, sir, or I'll have to call management."

Mike grinned, "Oops. Sorry. 127. Thank you."

He turned around and walked back down to the table with Scott.

Scott smiled at him, "So, what do we talk about? I guess we already know a lot about each other..."

"Uhh," Mike shrugged, "Did you see the footy last night?"

Scott's smile wavered for a second, he cleared his throat, "Uh, I don't really watch a lot of sport..."

Mike knew what he was thinking. Scott was a hopeless, hopeless romantic. He was hoping for the full flirting, deep conversation, fancy restaurant deal. Well, if he wanted that, he'd be better off with Vincent. Speaking of Vincent, Mike hadn't meant for this relationship to happen. He knew he was just Scott's rebound guy; he thought asking him to be together with him would scare him off, but Scott had agreed with a smile and here they were, going out on a second date.

"This time," Scott said, obviously also thinking about the Burger King disaster, "Why don't we just chill back at my house?"

"Sure," Mike said, "Sounds good to me."

Scott smiled, and they set off towards his house silently. Mike knew that Scott was probably hoping that Mike would walk slowly, his arm around Scott's waist, the usual couple stuff, but Mike really wasn't a romance guy, especially in a relationship that he wasn't really serious about. It was hard to be serious about a relationship with Scott. Every time they kissed, it felt really weird. Mike wasn't just saying that because Scott was a guy. Mike might be 90% straight, but he'd kissed plenty of guys before. It was just... when Mike kissed Scott, he didn't feel like he was kissing his lover, but more his friend, or brother. He knew Scott felt the same way, but he seemed to be ignoring or denying it for now.

"You know," Scott said. "One of those teenage girls told me Vincent has a crush on me."

Mike thought for a while on how to answer, knowing the V-word was a touchy subject, "Oh, really? Do... do you think it's true?"

"I... don't know," Scott replied, sighing, "Sometimes I think that maybe he really might like me, but then I remember that he told me that before, when we all know that wasn't true."

"Fair enough," Mike said, "But... go easy on him, alright? You've been a little..." Mike paused again, choosing his words carefully, "Spiteful towards him. If it really is true..."

"I know," Scott said. "I know. But... he's going to have to deal with it. I'm with you now. I don't need him!" He sounded quite defensive.

Mike didn't reply to that, but they were at Scott's house, anyway, so the conversation changed subject. Scott unlocked the door and they walked in, Scott asking if Mike wanted to watch a movie.

"Umm," Mike slung his hands in his pockets, "I don't know, man. Do you have Terminator? I, Robot?"

Scott blinked, "Uuhhhh... I don't have a lot of action movies, but I have Netflix?"

Mike raised his eyebrows, "Netflix and Chill on the second date? Consider me interested."

Scott rolled his eyes, then walked into the Living Room, jumping on the couch beside Mike. He turned on the TV and opened Netflix. Clicking on Terminator, he sighed, snuggling up to Mike.

Mike let his arm rest on Scott, stroking his side for a bit before he got caught up in the movie and forgot.

A little way in, Scott frowned a little at the screen, "I don't get the storyline. It doesn't make a lot of sense."

"It's not meant to, it's an action movie," Mike replied, watching as a huge explosion lit up the screen.

Scott sighed and went back to cuddling into Mike, losing interest.

An hour or so later, the movie finished. Mike grinned, "One of the greats."

"Mmm..." Scott replied half-heartedly, "Kinda."

Mike looked at him, "Hey, don't worry, it's okay if you didn't enjoy it. We can watch one of your movies next time."

Scott smiled at him, "I'd like that." Then he leaned up and kissed him.

Mike kissed back, but his heart wasn't in it. This was his first "relationship" with a guy. Yes, he'd been with a lot of guys, but never had any interest in dating one. Still, he preferred it was him than some dude Scott picked up at a bar.

Scott pulled away and hummed contentedly, "What do you want to do now?"

"Up to you," Mike said. "It's getting kind of late, I should probably go home before it gets too dark."

Scott nodded, "Okay. But at least stay for dinner?"

"Sure. What're we having?" Mike asked. Never say no to free food.

"I dunno," Scott said. "I think I have some fried rice in the fridge."

Mike laughed, "Okay, sounds good to me."

Scott hopped off of Mike and headed towards the kitchen. Mike hopped up and followed behind. Dinner was an interesting affair. They honestly had nothing to talk about, so it was a little awkward. Scott kept trying to push for a little romance, but Mike just deflected it as ever, and to be honest, they were both glad when the plates got cleared.

Mike made an excuse for having to leave, and Scott walked him to the door.

"Well... Uh, I guess I'll see you tomorrow..." Mike said.

"Um... actually," Scott started, before taking a big pause, "I, um, was wondering if you wanted to, um... stay the night?"

Mike's eyes widened, "Stay the night?"

"Ah, yeah..." Scott didn't make eye contact.

"You and me? Like a sleepover?"

"Uhm... kind of..." Scott said.

"A sleepover in the same bed?"

Scott opened and shut his mouth a few times, then resorted to nodding.

Mike's eyebrows raised. Now this, he was not expecting. Scott making the big move? No way, "Sure, Scott. I'll stay."

Scott smiled, "Okay. G-Good."

Mike walked back inside slowly, and Scott closed the door behind him, "S-So, I guess... d-do you wanna go straight to my room, or...?"

Mike raised an eyebrow, "Wow, straight to the point, aren'tcha? Okay..."

"Okay," Scott pointed ahead, "Y-You first."

Mike walked into Scott's room, a little confused, sitting down on the bed. Scott followed him, and hopped on the bed as well.

Scott leaned over and pushed Mike down backwards on the bed, before  positioning himself so he was straddling him, his hands on his chest to keep himself up. "S-So... now what? I... I've never really... done this before... or anything."

Mike smiled, "Well, first you might start with some making out..." He pulled Scott down by the shirt, kissing him passionately. Scott tried to reciprocate, but he seemed a little distant. Mike let his hands run over Scott's back, moving slowly downwards. As he did so, Scott seemed to get stiffer and stiffer.

Mike frowned, suddenly concerned. This wasn't right. This wasn't how it worked. He pulled away, "Listen, Scott. Are you sure you want to do this?"

Scott looked at him for a second, and then, "Ye-" his voice cracked and he cleared his throat, "Yeah."

Mike looked at him for a moment, "Scott, There are reasons for having sex. Being in love with your partner, experimenting, having a little fun. Those are good reasons. But doing it because you think it'll make you fall in love with me, doing it to prove to yourself that you're over Vincent, doing it to show him he doesn't control who you sleep with... Those aren't good reasons."

"I... I am in love with you," Scott said. "That's... that's what I'm proving to you, isn't it? Why would I be doing this if I wasn't in love with you?"

"Lots of reasons," Mike said. "But, Scott, I know you... and I just don't think this is really what you want to do."

"Yes it is," Scott said meekly, and it sounded more like a question than an answer.

Mike sighed, sitting up, "Scott... You and I both know that I'm not the person you want to be with."

Scott averted Mike's gaze, "Of course I want to be with you..."

"No," Mike said, "You don't. Look at yourself. You only ever act affectionately towards me after we've been talking about him, and around him. I know you're trying to prove to yourself that you're over him, but you're not, Scott."

Scott's eyes widened a little, "That's not true..."

"Scott..." Mike sighed again, "Who do you think about when we kiss?"

Scott's eyes widened more, he looked like he'd been caught stealing from the fridge. He laughed nervously, "You, of course!"

"Really?" Mike asked, "Are you sure that when you kiss me, it feels right? That you're thinking about me? That fireworks are going off in your head and you've got goosebumps?"

Scott laughed again, "That only happens in fairy tales, Mike."

"No, it only happens when you're kissing the right person," Mike said. "Don't tell me you don't think about it sometimes. What it would be like to kiss him."

"I..." Scott's smile disappeared, "But we've got chemistry. We've got plenty of chemistry."

"Do we?" Mike asked, "Honestly, Scott. Don't tell me you don't feel weird when we kiss. You're not exactly turned on by the idea of us spending the night together."

"Bu-I..." Scott's eyes flicked around the room, " I want to do this."

Mike sighed, "It's not the same if you're not attracted to me. Here, look..." Mike leaned in.

"Ah~" Scott's eyes widened when Mike bit his neck, and suddenly his mind was flooded with images. Extremely vivid images of a certain purple man's fingers exploring his body. Closing his eyes, he said,  "Okay, Mike, you've made your point."

Mike pulled away from Scott's neck, "What did you think about?"

Scott's bottom lip trembled a little. He looked down, "I... I thought about Vincent..."

"See?" Mike asked, "You didn't even think about me at all, did you? You just thought about how amazing it'd feel if Vincent did it to you, didn't you?"

Scott closed his eyes and sighed, "But I don't want to be with Vincent. I don't want to get hurt again."

"Maybe not," Mike said, "But you don't want to be with me. There's two ways to get over a crush, Scott. Ignore him, or get to know him better. You tried ignoring him... maybe it's time to try plan B?"

Scott sighed again, hopping off of Mike and falling onto the bed, "Does this mean you're breaking up with me?"

Mike laughed, "If you want to see it like that. But let's be honest, were we even a serious couple in the first place?"

"I guess not," Scott said. He looked at Mike, "So now can I tell you that you were the worst boyfriend I've ever had?"

Mike scoffed, "I'm also the only boyfriend you've ever had."

"You've put me off dating for good," Scott grinned.

Mike's eyes widened, "Maybe it's because you're a bad kisser. And you don't have boobs."

"Mike!" Scott hissed, giggling, "Rude."

Mike chuckled, lying down beside him, "We're much better off as friends."
