It's a Date (Part Two)
Scott leaned back on the roof of his car, propping himself up with his elbows. Vincent did the same, lying down on the cool, but rather uncomfortable metal roof. He shifted around a bit, trying to get comfortable.
Scott looked at him for a moment, and then sighed, "Come over here."
"What?" Vincent asked.
Scott gestured at the mattress-thing he was leaning on, "It's big enough for two if you squish." He shuffled over a little, "C'mon."
Vincent blinked, surprised at Scott's change in attitude towards him; first buying him snacks, now this. He shuffled up next to Scott, pressing his body against him.
"Is it really necessary to b-be that close?" Scott said, his voice sounded slightly strained.
"You were the one who let me be this close," Vincent reminded him, then oh-so-subtly snaked an arm around his waist.
"I will push you off this car roof," Scott warned.
Vincent removed his arm. "It was worth a shot."
The movie was long and cheesy. Vincent found his thoughts wandering off, replacing the two main characters with... other people... he smirked. Maybe this movie would be better than he thought.
Little did he know that on the other side of him, Scott was fighting (and failing) to keep those very same images out of his head. He ended up giving up and just lying back and looking at he stars instead.
Vincent lay down beside him, "You know, this movie isn't bad for a straight romance."
Scott turned to look at him, and then, realising how close their faces were, blushed and went back to looking at the sky, "That's right, I meant to ask you, you're..." he trailed off. Is it offensive to just ask if someone's gay? "...I mean, your... your sexuality... you're..."
"Yes, I'm gay," Vincent said. "I thought you already knew that."
Scott shook his head, "No, you've never told me."
"I don't have to tell most people," Vincent said.
"So..." Scott bit his lip and then continued, "So... what's it like?"
"What's it like being gay?" Vincent laughed, "What's it like being straight?"
"Touché," Scott said. "But I mean... how would... I mean... how do you know..." Scott's voice was sounding more and more awkward with every word, "... how would you know... if you're... how can you tell?"
"It's pretty obvious," Vincent said. "You should know, unless you're seriously closeted. I mean, if you get aroused from thinking about another guy, that's pretty obvious."
"Yeah, but... what if... I mean, theoretically, I guess, if... every time you looked at someone... another guy... you got butterflies in your stomach? A-And if... if being close to them turned your insides to jelly... and if, every time they say your name, something inside of you flutters..."
Vincent chuckled, "It sounds like you're in love, Scott."
Scott sighed and didn't reply.
The movie ended shortly after, Scott and Vincent stayed lying down on the roof of Scott's car. Vincent had shuffled over even closer to Scott, and Scott wasn't objecting. After a while, though, Scott sat up and slid off the roof of the car, saying that he was going to go for a walk in the cool night air before he had to drive back home again.
Vincent stood up and jumped off of the top of the roof, landing effortlessly and gracefully next to Scott. "I'll come with you."
And so they walked for a bit; the oval that the drive-in was set up on had a walking track all the way around it. It was calm and peaceful, the trees moved silently in the cool breeze, casting dark shadows onto the ground.
Vincent stopped walking after a while, he stood still in the darkness, a soft light glowing from his eyes and teeth, "Thanks for taking me out, Scott."
Scott stopped walking as well and looked at him. He'd been surprised at first when he realised Vincent's teeth and eyes could glow, but now it was just yet another unexplained mystery on the growing list of Freddy Fazbear's Inexplicable Oddities. "I didn't really have a choice. But... you're welcome."
"No, really, I mean it," Vincent said, taking a step closer. "You could have made it a lot worse, but you were really kind to me tonight, no matter how badly I've treated you in the past."
"Yeah, well..." Scott shrugged, looking at the ground. "Maybe I haven't been the kindest to you, either."
Vincent walked closer still, now Scott looked up and locked eyes with him, lost in his hypnotising gaze, his enchanting pure-white eyes.
"Well, maybe from now on... it can be different between us."
"Yeah," Scott felt tension ignite in the dark air around them as Vincent put an arm around his waist.
All was silent for a while, apart from Scott's heartbeat, before Vincent pulled Scott closer so that they were hip to hip, chest to chest.
Scott looked at him, his eyes wide, "Vincent...?"
Scott could feel Vincent's heartbeat against his own skin, everywhere that Vincent's body was pressing against him was burning with a fierce electricity, one of his arms was at the back of Scott's head, while the other was on his back. Then Vincent was leaning in, his head tilting slightly.
Scott almost leaned in as well, being so close to his prize, but so far. The worst part was that he wanted it. He needed it. He needed Vincent to be just those few centimetres closer.
Vincent finally brought his lips to be brushing against Scott's, making Scott bright red in the face and virtually whimpering for Vincent to just kiss me already!
"It's a shame," Vincent whispered finally, the way his lips moved against Scott's drove him insane.
"W-What's...? What's a shame...?" Scott whispered back, his voice wavering.
"It's a shame you're straight, otherwise I'd be kissing you right now," Vincent said. "Deeply, passionately, with everything I have."
Now Scott did whimper a little.
Vincent grinned to himself and let go of Scott, turning around and walking back towards the car, "It really is a shame."
Scott bit his lip for a moment, watching him walk away, but then, on the spur of the moment, he made a decision and ran after him, "W-Wait, Vincent...!"
Vincent stopped in his tracks and then turned back around to look at Scott, a knowing look in his eyes, already knowing what Scott was going to say, already knowing exactly how he felt.
"M-Maybe..." Scott caught up to him fully now, standing in front of him, "Maybe t-tonight... just f-for tonight... w-we can pretend I'm not?"
"Not what?" Vincent asked innocently.
"Not... not straight," Scott said, refusing to make eye-contact with Vincent.
Vincent bit his lip and examined Scott, dragging his eyes slowly up and down his body, "Are you suggesting a one-night-stand?"
Scott's eyes widened and he went a shade redder under the intense gaze. Still addressing the ground rather than Vincent he managed, "M-Maybe not... that far..."
Vincent chuckled. Ooh, he has morals. But, he's got a taste of what I can offer. Let's see how long it will take before he crumbles~. "I see. Well, I don't know, Scott. I wouldn't want to force you to pretend you're gay... it's not right."
Scott looked only very mildly disappointed. He nodded, "Yeah... Not right..."
Vincent turned away again and started towards Scott's car. Scott followed.
The drive home was awkward, Scott was silent the whole way, staring at his steering wheel. When they got to Vincent's house, Scott walked him to the front door.
Vincent turned back to Scott, "Well, it's been nice, Scott. And the movie wasn't too bad, either."
Scott smiled, but he looked preoccupied. Nervous. "S-So, I'll, uh, see you tomorrow."
Vincent watched as Scott's gaze dropped from Vincent's eyes to his lips and back. He smirked, "Yeah, see you tomorrow, Scott."
Scott nodded, again his gaze dropped to Vincent's lips. He was already close, closer than necessary, close enough that he could have easily made a move if he needed to.
There was silence for a while. Scott kept jerking forward just millimetres at a time and then away again, as if losing his nerve.
"Scott..." Vincent said quietly, "If you're going to kiss me, just do it."
Scott's eyes widened and he blushed darkly, "I-I-I w-wasn't- I- t-that's-" He blinked and shook his head, taking a step away. "See you tomorrow." He turned around quickly and dashed back to his car.
Vincent chuckled as Scott drove off. "Oh, I'll see you tomorrow..."
