The Second Date
It was five hours in, and Scott's eyes were having a hard time staying open. It wasn't that he was tired, just, nothing exciting ever happened on the Office shift, and he wasn't going to argue with a little beauty sleep.
"Hey, Scott."
Scott snapped out of his sleepy stupor, sitting up straight, "Yeah, Boss?"
"I need you to help me clean up. There's been another kid breaking the rule. You know the one. I have to tell the kitchen about this. They must put laxatives in the pizza or something."
Scott made a face, "Really? Are you sure I have to do it?"
"You've got nothing better to do," Boss walked into the Office, crossing his arms across his chest, "Don't think just because I'm buddied up with your Dad it means that you get special treatment."
Special treatment, huh? Scott sighed, "Fine, okay... Let me just..." He prepared to heave himself out of the chair. Suddenly groaning, he clutched at his chest, "Ah! Owwww... What the hell... Foxy's hook really got me... You know, we shouldn't even have a rusty, broken machine at this establishment... I'm certain that's breaking some health and safety rules..."
Boss' bushy eyebrows raised to his hairline, showing his wide eyes. He had the strangest eyes, being a mixed race. It was pretty unnatural for a moderately dark-skinned guy like Boss to have bright blue eyes, "Uh, you know what? I'm sure Fritz can handle it..."
"Oh, are you sure, Uncle Will?" Scott asked sweetly.
"That's Boss to you. While you're at work, at least. And don't worry about it. You just sit there and... make sure that cut doesn't get infected or something," Boss eyed him carefully, "Last thing I need is to be filling out insurance forms at the hospital."
"Oh, yeah. I wouldn..." Scott trailed off, something catching his eye in the camera, a flash of purple.
Boss looked at him, "Wouldn't what?"
"Oh, nothing. Sorry," Scott looked back at Boss, "I was just saying, I wou-" He trailed off again, seeing Vincent standing in front of the camera, making a heart sign with his hands.
Boss frowned and walked over beside Scott, trying to see what he was looking at. Scott quickly flipped the camera over, hiding the display in his shirt.
"What're you looking at, Scott?" Boss asked suspiciously.
"Me? Looking at something?" Scott laughed nervously, "I'm not looking at nothing. I mean- something. Or anything. I'm not looking at... not anything?"
Boss sighed, "You're a lot of things, Scott, but a good liar is not one of them. Show me the camera."
Scott paused for a second. Then, mentally praying for Vincent to be gone, he flipped the camera over.
Vincent was not gone. Instead, he was holding a scribbled message on an old pizza box, 'Scott, will you go on another date with me tonight?'
Scott laughed nervously, blushing bright red with embarrassment as Boss took the tablet from him and looked at the image. His eyes widened a little. There was a tense silence for quite a while, then he passed the tablet back to Scott, "Uh, I'll... leave that up to you..."
Clearing his throat awkwardly, Boss made an excuse and walked back out of the Office.
Scott watched him go, glad he hadn't made a big deal of it. Then he looked back down at the camera, where Vincent blew a kiss at him.
Smiling in a lovesick way, Scott pretended to catch it.
He sighed, leaning back in his chair, his heart fluttering uncontrollably in his chest. Movement caught his eye, and he looked back down at the tablet to see Mike shoving Vincent out of the camera.
"Get back to your post, you hopeless playboy..."
Vincent huffed, "Come on, Mike, that was totally romantic, and you just ruined it!"
"And what would the kitchen ladies say if they saw you making goo-goo eyes at Scott, huh? No more free pizza for you. Now get out of here."
Scott chuckled slightly as Vincent waved one last time and disappeared.
"Don't go fantasizing , Scott, daydreaming while on shift is not good for your work ethic," Mike said to him. Then, with a wink, he added, "Welp, I better get back to sleeping on the job. Seeya."
Scott didn't follow Mike's advice. The rest of the afternoon was filled with daydreams of their second date. One of them even explored the option that Vincent took him home afterwards... that he took him to his bedroom and slowly, slowly began to undress him... button by button... but the author is certain you wouldn't want to hear about that one.
As you can imagine, the rest of Scott's work passed rather quickly, and as soon as the bell went for his shift ending, he leapt out of his chair and practically sprinted to the kitchen.
Vincent was just walking out of the kitchen when Scott got there, "Oh, hey, Scott! Look, I got you some pizza..." he held out a slice, "You wouldn't believe the lengths I had to go to to get it for you."
"Somehow, I can imagine..." Scott took the pizza with one hand, and with the other, he wiped a lipstick stain off of Vincent's forehead.
Vincent grinned sheepishly, "What can I say? Those women are persuasive."
Scott frowned slightly, "You know, I should be really jealous. But I'll let it slide just this once, because free pizza." With that, he took an impressive chomp out of the slice.
"How about free dinner? My place. Tonight. You like the sound of that?~" Vincent asked.
Scott froze momentarily, then swallowed the pizza, "I... Y-Your place? At night? For our second date? I... What about Mike?"
"What about him?" Vincent asked.
"Well, I mean, won't it bother him? If we're, like... kissing... a lot...?" Scott blushed faintly. To be honest, he was terrified Vincent would try to make a move on him. I mean, that's obviously what he had in mind, right? Going back to his house...
"Kissing a lot, hmm?~" Vincent purred, "Don't mind if I do..."
"Vincent, Scott, get here now!" Their Boss' booming voice called out from across the Dining Hall.
"Oh no... now what...?" Vincent groaned, then started towards Boss.
Scott followed behind tentatively, his mind thinking over every single bad thing he'd ever done. he glanced at Vincent ahead of him. Somehow, Vincent seemed even more nervous.
Huh, Scott thought, wonder what you did that's so bad...
Vincent stopped in front of William, and Scott quickly jogged the half a step to catch up.
"Look," Boss said, looking uneasy, "It's become... apparent to me... that you two are together again." He looked from Vincent to Scott, "And although I may have some reservations with that arrangement, you two are grown men, and I'm sure you can figure it out for yourselves. Anyway. My point is that... it is probably best... for the business - and for you two - that... you don't show affection... at work," Boss looked even more uncomfortable. He quickly added, "It's not that you two are both men! No, no, I'd say it even if it was Jeremy and that blonde chick who keeps staring at him."
Across the room, Jeremy jumped and blushed.
"But I just don't think it's good to have you both... distracted. On the job," Boss finished, clasping his hands together, "It's not good for business."
"With all due respect, sir," Vincent said, "I beg to differ. Watch this."
Quickly, he spun Scott around, throwing him down in a dip.
Scott's eyes widened, "Vincent! Not in front of our Bo-" He was cut off as Vincent's lips crashed into his own.
There was an immediate reaction from the crowd, in the form of a loud scream. Suddenly, there were girls everywhere, flocking the couple.
Boss looked away from Vincent and Scott - gawd was it weird seeing the boy he'd known since a baby kissing another man - and scanned the faces of the group of girls, most of which were squealing loudly.
Vincent pulled away from Scott, both of their chests heaving, and pulled him back upright so he was standing, "And that's just the start of what I can do, baby~"
Scott's face was dark red, either from the kissing or the blood rushing to his head, "W-Well... I... guess I... don't stand much of a chance."
Vincent grinned.
Boss frowned just slightly - he still wasn't sure that Vincent was really the right choice for a person like Scott - but he couldn't deny the proof. Vincent and Scott were attracting customers. Heck, he was probably making profit out of this, "Okay, okay. You've made your point. Just... don't let it get in the way of your jobs."
"We won't," Scott said.
"So," Vincent grinned, "Ready for our second date?"
Scott hesitated only for a second, then grinned back, "I guess I am."
