Crossed the Line

Kabuto let the hot water warm his skin and drench his face. It cried with him as the tears continued to stream down his face. Orochimaru sat outside the bathroom door with his head in his hands. He had finally seen what he had done but it was too late. He had already ruined everything. He had no idea how to fix it either.
The silver haired man's heart was still pounding. His whole body ached along with his soul. He felt empty and sad. The good times burned through his memory and worsened the feeling. It was so destructive and he wished that he could just sleep.
He wished that he could close his eyes and wake up to discover that it was all just a bittersweet dream. But, that wouldn't happen. This was reality.
How could he serve him now? Easy. The same as always. Bury all of his feelings behind a calm demeanor. That would not be easy. He would just pretend. Pretend until it felt real.
The numbness was the worst. It made him feel less than human.
Meanwhile, Orochimaru was wracking his brain to try and find ways that he could make it up to Kabuto but thought of nothing. Nothing seemed enough.
Kabuto finished his shower and dried himself thoroughly. His skin was red and rough all over from all of the rough scrubbing. He then pulled on a long-sleeved shirt and long pants before exiting the bathroom. His master quickly moved out of the way and decided against following him.
Kabuto went into his own room and curled himself in the covers. He wanted to sleep for a thousand years. His oft began shaking with sobs and he cried for hours.
The snake man sat outside and listened. He was crying too bit less loudly.
Kabuto finally fell asleep but they both knew that this could very well be the end of something beautiful.
