Diagon Alley
There was a knock on the door.
'Come in,' Serria said cheerily. It had been a week since Albus Dumbledore's visit and it was any minute that 'someone' was coming to rescue her. She had packed her only belongings, school list, the Marauder's Map, Sirius' letter, the newspaper clipping, and some of her dull muggle orphanage clothing in a small shoulder bag. Her mother's locket was carefully around her neck.
The door opened and a man stepped in. She knew at once that he was a wizard from his tattered grey robes. It slightly shocked her that they were ancient. It didn't occur to her that someone's clothing could be older and shabbier than her own.
'Remus Lupin,' he said. She noticed how pale his face was; she could tell he was young but his face was tired and he had dark shadows under his eyes, as though he hadn't slept for days. 'You do look a lot like Lily. Your hair is just like James', though.' His face looked grim. 'Are you packed?'
'I didn't have much to pack,' she pointed out.
He pulled a small pouch out of his pocket. 'This is Floo Powder,' he said. He ignited the usually neglected fireplace. 'You will drop a pinch, when it turns green, step in and say your destination. Speak clearly and keep your elbows tucked in your sides.' He offered the pouch. 'Diagon Alley is where we are meant to be.'
Trembling a little she took a pinch of the powder and dropped it into the fire. Almost at once it turned bright green, like her eyes. Tentatively she stepped in and shouted, 'D-DIAGON ALLEY.' For a minute she thought she did something wrong, but less than a second later she was spinning. She landed on the floor with a thud. Nervously, she fixed her glasses. Slowly she looked up, afraid she was lost, but she saw a large sign at the nearest building. DIAGON ALLEY.
Before she knew it the man was next to her.
'Right, now follow me.' Her head was spinning and she was nevertheless curious.
'Err... Mr Lupin?' she said straining to remember his name.
'You're allowed to call Remus, you know.' He was smiling slightly.
'Oh ok,' she smiled, 'I just wanted to know... OUCH' A wizard wearing a blue turban had just crashed right into her, knocking her off her feet.
'I-I am s-sorry,' he stuttered.
'Are you okay?' she said, seriously concerned. Stuttering usually came from absolute shock, 'It's fine, you know,' she added, hastily picking up her shoulder bag.
'S-sorry.' Confused, Serria turned around to look at Remus.
'Umm...' He frowned at her and turned to talk to the man, but he had already disappeared.
'Never mind that,' he said, 'What did you want to ask me?'
'You know that Floo thing. Can you get from anywhere to anywhere with it?'
'Only fireplaces in our world. The exception is when you get a muggle fireplace temporarily connected to the system by the Ministry of Magic. This is what Professor Dumbledore did for you today.'
'And... Remus, sorry for asking, but where are we going?'
'Gringotts, wizarding bank, you know about it right?'
'Yes, it was in Sirius' letter."
'Sirius?' he asked, stopping abruptly, 'As in Sirius Black?'
'Yes, do you know him?' His smile vanished.
'Unfortunately,' Remus said quietly.
'I'm sorry,' Serria said, puzzled, 'But what do you mean by-'
'You have an awful lot to buy. We should hurry up,' Remus interrupted starting to walk again. She fastened up to keep in pace with him.
As they entered Gringotts, they were checked by some guards and let in. They walked to the end to see a goblin scratching on parchment with an eagle quill. He looked down at Serria, a superior expression on his face.
'Well, what do we have here?' Serria shrunk back behind Remus with fear.
'This is Serria Lily Potter,' He said firmly. The goblin's face showed no expression; no recognition; nothing. 'Her vault is 913.'
'A Potter? That's interesting.'
'That's none of your business,' Remus growled. The Goblin shrugged.
When the Goblin opened the vault, Serria could barely believe her eyes.
'All this,' she whispered. 'It's all for me?'
Remus nodded. 'The money was given to you by-by... Sirius-Black.' He seemed to have trouble saying his name and Serria couldn't imagine why. She figured that Remus was hiding something from her. She decided to ask him what. Just not then.
'Enough of the reunion. Take what you need and leave.'
Serria decided she definitely didn't like Goblins. Especially this one. It was mean, rude and short-tempered. Remus stepped forward and collected money into a small pouch.
'Come quickly with me, Serria,' he said quietly. 'Goblin's aren't big on wizards.' She nodded and followed him out of Gringotts.
'But, why?' she asked, curious.
'There are stories-many of them-from thousands of years ago. Of how wizards stole from Goblins,' Remus replied as they walked down Diagon Alley. 'They are very unforgiving creatures.' They walked on for a few minutes, in silence.
Remus stopped abruptly in front of a shop and turned to Serria.
'Do you have the list?' She dug into her bag and found the list. Remus quickly skimmed over it. 'Ah, yes,' he smiled. 'Of course. First thing's first, you need a wand and the perfect place is right here.' He gestured at the shop in front of them. A faint, crumbling board read the letters: Ollivander's. 'Go in and get your wand from Mr Ollivander,' he placed some money in her hand. "That should be enough. I'll go get your books."
This puzzled Serria. How could she-just-buy a wand? How would she know, which one was best?
As she entered the wand shop, she could hear the voice of an old man.
'The wand chooses the wizard, Mr Potter.' Mr Potter? But that must... It must be Harry Potter-her brother. Her family. She had to see him. She had to speak to him. She stepped forward, excited.
Suddenly a warning voice seemed to stop her. The voice of Dumbledore.
'You cannot tell your brother who you are, until the time is ripe.'
She stepped away-towards the door. But it was too late, the old man had already seen her.
'And who might you be?' he asked her.
'Serria P-' she began, then abruptly stopped. She realised Harry was watching her curiously. For the first time in her life, Serria took a look at her brother. When you thought about it, you could tell that they were undoubtedly related. Even though his hair was dark and her's was auburn, just by looking at their identical almond-shaped, green eyes, you had to realise they were family. Why, they even had similar glasses.
She couldn't use her own last name. Potter wasn't an extremely unusual last name. What were the chances of two Potter families with wizards in the same country? The chances were very low. And suddenly it hit her. It was unlikely that anyone would recognise her mother's maiden name. It was the easiest way and Dumbledore could not disapprove of it.
'Serria Lily Evans,' she said, her voice strong and confident.
'Hmmm...' the old man sounded slightly doubtful. 'Miss Evans... I'm assuming it's your first year at Hogwarts, is it not? You may of heard what I was explaining to Mr Potter, here. Surely you are familiar with Mr Potter, are you not?'
Harry suddenly looked overly uncomfortable as he pulled his messy dark hair over his forehead, determined to hide his scar, which Serria got a slight glimpse of before he hid it. She could easily understand why he was self-conscious of his scar. It was obvious that people constantly stared at him because he was so famous. Serria couldn't help but feel relieved that she wasn't in his position.
'Yes, sir,' she replied, restraining herself with all her might not to stare at her brother. 'I have heard of Mr Potter, sir.'
'The wand chooses the wizard, Miss Evans, so why don't we get started?'
'Hey, Harry!' The voice came from outside the dingy store.
'That's my friend," Harry said hastily. "I can leave can't I?'
'With all due respect, Mr Potter. Enjoy your life at Hogwarts.' He rushed out of the shop and who could blame him? Mr Ollivander definitely released an eerie vibe.

'Got it?' Remus asked as Serria left Ollivander's less than 20 minutes later holding her new wand. It was 12 and a half inches made of Blackhorn and Thestral hair. The minute she picked it up, Mr Ollivander had gasped and refused to tell her why. Nevertheless, simply holding it was so comfortable; so perfect.
'Yeah,' she said.
'I'd put it away if I was you. You don't really know spells yet, so you could do something wrong.' She nodded and placed her wand carefully inside her bag between some of her orphanage clothing. 'The only thing left...' he went on, 'Is your robes, which we'll get over there.' Serria followed him but couldn't help but stop in front of the shop and stare at it. It was called 'Magical Menagerie' and it seemed to be a store for pets. It took Remus several moments to realise that Serria was watching the animals, particularly the snow-white cat on the window display, longingly.
'Do you want that cat, Serria?' Remus asked kindly. She looked away from the shop hastily.
'It's ok, Remus. I don't want that cat,' Serria replied. Then, realising she didn't sound convincing enough, she quickly added. 'Cats are-they're stupid.'
'Nice try,' he smiled at her. 'Wait here, I'll be back.' He made his way to the store, despite Serria's cries.
