A Game of Chase

Holy to the freaking shit, I updated.

I breathed in deeply and sprinted outisde to the dark eerie looking forest. I didn't know where to go. I just let the andrenaline rush through me, making my first priority; Run.

Am i enjoying this chase of death?

The mere thought of it made me run even more faster. My hair flailing behind me as I put my hands in front of my face, ducking occassionally for some branches and leaves..

I never felt so alive for years.

I didn't turn around. I was too into the thought of getting away that I wasn't sure if Jeff was even chasing me. With a silent thought, I turned my head a little to see if the crazy douche was still there.

Lo and behold, Jeff the Killer chasing a young, innocent girl in the forest with a knife in hand and a macabre look on his face. "Damn" I bitterly said under my breath, now looking straight ahead of me.

In where I was enjoying my time is where I'll, possitibly, die. Being stabbed to death in a forest by a guy that you've only known for weeks after pulling a seemingly harmless dare on him. Yeah, that escalated quickly.

I supress my laughter as I took a sharp turn. I quickly glanced back and saw that Jeff was still attempting to catch me.

I smirked. Even though I wasn't so sure where I was going, I was running like I knew this forest in forever. Hey, we never know if I was going in circles or not.

A thick branch came into my view, short enough to let me reach it. A thought formed into my mind as grin etched on my lips.

No matter how alive I was feeling, how the excitement running through my veins, I was feeling tired. My legs started to feel like lead as my head throbs in pain.

I breathed in heavily and prayed for myself. It's now or never. I swiftly grabbed the branch and hauled myself up, successfully standing on it.

It was thick, so I didn't have to worry that it would snap. Jeff ran past below me and kept on grumbling curse words. That guy has a very colorful vocalbulary.

He stopped for a while and scanned his surroundings. That was the time my guts said 'leave'. I deeply breathed in, preparing myself for another chase. With that, I jumped down and ran as quickly as I could.

I turned, trying to retrace my steps and head back to the mansion where Jeff and the others would probably be.

It seemed like I've been walking around aimlessly for eternity. A sudden pain suddenly bursts throughout the both of my legs that I have to sit and recover for couple of minutes.

I sat near a tree, leaning on it as I breathed in and out slowly, reminiscing the events that put me in this exhausting state.

I made Jeff lose in a bet, somehow managed to humiliate himself in front of my dad in which lead to him chase me to this forest and lost track of him.

Now that crazy lunatic is out of the picture, my mind dawned to another problem. I got lost. I groaned as I massaged my aching legs.

'Okay'  I thought, 'Time to go back'

---------------------

Turns out, I have horrible sense of direction. "I'm screwed. totally, seriously screwed" I messed up. Me getting lost was not according to plan.

All I ever wanted was to dare him into doing a harmless prank. I didn't know he would go psycho on me.

"Men and their pride" I sighed deeply. The sound of the leaves under my shoes calmed me a little bit. Reminds me of my own home.

A silent tear made it's way across my cheeks, startling me. I stopped in my tracks and placed a hand on my face, feeling the dampness from my eyes.

I miss my old home. I shook my head, I didn't realize that I was battling with my thoughts.

It was a prison. Not a home. Tears kept coming. My place wasn't a home. It felt like cage.

It wasn't like that until she di- I dropped to my knees, clutching my head. Red flashed my mind, making me remember that horrible night.

''Why now?'' I questioned myself ''Out of all the times to remember, why now?" The hollow feeling in my chest. The cold blood smeared against the hard floor. The voice, mocking me to no end.

I grabbed a fist full my hair,  desperate to forget. I am so hopeless sometimes.

Now, this was a twisted turn. Having a mental breakdown while lost in a place that faintly resembled my own.

A strong gust of wind passed through, some black strands of my hair covered my crying face. The bush in front of me shook, enough to pull me out of my never ending thoughts.

I quickly stood up, wiping all my tears away. I stared at it as it moved once more, something was telling me that it wasn't the wind anymore.

I immediately got into my attack stance; hands up in defense as shadows took place behind me, ready to attack whatever was hiding behind the plant.

After few agonizing, nerve wracking seconds, something jumped out and entered my field of vision. It was a dog, a red husky to be exact.

My glared softened but still looked at it tenaciously while it's black eyes observed my every move.

Then, it showed my something that dogs weren't supposed to have. It smiled and instead of sharp, animal canine teeth, it had a normal set of a human's.

There's a lot of strange things in my life. First being the daughter of a faceless being and now, having a stare off with a smiling dog.

I tilted my head as I curiously eyed it's jaws. My eyes trailing up to it's body, going down to it's tail. It took in my tattered appearance and with a wide smile, it tackled me to the ground.

I let out a loud, surprised scream. My shadows quickly closed in, preapered to stab the creature on top of me.

My eyes widen, not wanting to end the life of the animal. With a flick of my wrist, the shadows vanished as quickly as it came.

I didn't know what came over me, but I had the weirdest feeling about this dog. I didn't want to hurt it or inflict even the slightest pain

Is it possible to get attached to something this fast?

All of a sudden, I felt something on the side of my face. My eyes narrowed as I realized what was happening.

It freaking licked me!

It's tongue was drawn out as I felt the wet substance trailing down to my neck. Yep, I'm covered in dirt, sweat and saliva.

Forget about Jeff, I'm going straight to the shower when I return to the mansion.

It gave me a smile, taking a up close look to it's human teeth. I almost sighed in relief when it started to recoil away from me.

Standing up, I dusted my clothes of any fur and soil. My hands reaching to my cheeks, wiping out any excessive saliva.

I gave the dog a questioning look before straightening myself. "Last time I remember, normal dogs aren't supposed to be in a forest"

I raised my eyebrow at it's panting figure. "Did you got lost from your owner or something?" I asked, acting like I was going to have a response.

Grumbling, I shook my head while face palming myself. If someone like Ben sees me talking to animals, he'll laugh and proclaim that I'm crazy.

It barked at me, sounds echoing around us. I threw him another confused glance.

"What?"

It gave me sheepish grin and turned it's head at the opposite direction. He -assuming that it was a boy-  looked back at me again before venturing to that place.

''Do you want me to follow you or something?'' I wondered loudly.

He barked in response as he continued to walk away from me. I sighed for a hundredth time this day and followed the husky, before he exits my field of vision.
