∆Chapter 07∆
I was pulled out of my thoughts when Chang came into my line of vision. He heaved a few heavy sighs and huffed out audibly before glaring at me as soon as he was on the roof.
"Aren't you charming?" He retorted sarcastically while sitting down beside me. He was wearing a black hoodie and dark shorts, showing off his well toned thighs and I quickly looked away.
"Certainly. It's just that I spit what I eat," I replied with a wry smile. "And you still didn't answer me. What's the deal with you, signing down there?"
"I am sorry," he mumbled and I almost didn't hear him.
"Come again." I laughed and turned to look at him.
He narrowed his eyes, expecting me to relent but when he saw that I wouldn't, he exhaled deeply. "I am sorry," he said, this time louder.
"Hmm. Your apology has been registered. Let's see if it'll be accepted or not. Might take 3-5 business days to revert back because there's too much traffic," I told him sassily and pretended to find my badly bitten nails interesting.
"Well then I hope to see my acceptance letter on my doorstep since I can't get an instant reply," he shot back.
I scowled at him. "What makes you think that it'll be an acceptance letter and not a rejection one?" I asked him haughtily.
He faltered a bit, thinking and trying to come up with an equally earth shattering "comeback". "Because nobody really bothers to send a rejection letter."
Before I could stop myself, a laugh sputtered out of my lips. I peeked over at him once I quieted down from my fit to see him looking at me with guilt. 'Well isn't he showering me with all kinds of emotions in just a day?' "But some do," I corrected him.
"I really am sorry though. I didn't think that my words sounded so harsh until I spoke them out loud. I am really terrible at... words. I don't know how to talk and I know that it isn't an excuse for what I'd said earlier today but I am working my way through," he explained to me, looking me straight in the eyes.
His brown pools were reflecting his earnestness and I nodded my head. "That's all right, I guess. Maybe next time when you see someone with quirkiness in their bones, know that something might have lulled them to be that way." I shrugged, looking at my feet.
"Roger that." He gave me a two finger salute and looked ahead, going back to expressionless self.
Clearing my throat, I decided to throw the bomb at him. "I won the challenge."
"Huh?" He seemed baffled by my words with the way his eyebrows were pulled together.
"The challenge. I figured out who the guy I am talking to is. It's you, isn't it?" I wiggled my brows at him.
His eyes widened and jaw slackened when realization hit him. I could see a faint blush rising on his cheeks. The only reason I could spot it in the darkness was because we were sitting alongside each other. "I don't know what you're talking about," he answered, turning his head away to avoid any eye contact.
"Oh."
I narrowed my eyes when suddenly an idea struck me. I quickly pulled out my phone from my pocket. Opening Distap, my fingers worked rhythmically to type out a message before Chang saw me.
Yours Truly:
Btw, I've saved your name as 2 Brain Cells.
I heard a muffled ping from beside me and pursed my lips from laughing out loud. Fidgeting, Chang removed his phone from his pocket, unknowing of the situation. A few seconds later, he frowned at his screen and glanced over at me with an unhappy face. "Seriously? "2 Brain Cells"?"
"Caught you and I won!" I exclaimed, fist pumping in the air.
His lips scrunched, showing his displeasure as he muttered something that I couldn't comprehend. I assumed it was something in Korean. "How'd you know?"
I shrugged, not sure about it either but it must've been my hunch. "You just don't know how to be subtle, I guess? I mean you never even give anybody the time of your day and then the next thing I know, you suddenly asked about me and talked to me. I wasn't sure but I went with it." I grinned to myself.
"Whatever," he said, sulking.
"Yeah next time try not to stick your imaginary spit on someone else's hand," I said, raising an eyebrow at him. "Oh, and you'd stopped messaging me once you were down there. Smelled suspicious to me." I winked.
He grumbled with his beautiful face still frowning, unable to take the defeat. Then out of the blue, he opened the camera in his phone and clicked a picture with the same grumpy face.
My brows shot up in surprise and I was about to question him when my phone chimed simultaneously. Glancing at the lit up screen, I saw that I received a picture from Chang himself with a small message at the bottom.
2 Brain Cells:
(Sent a picture)
As promised, a face reveal -_-
I downloaded his picture with a chuckle before taking a peek at him to see the corners of his lips lifting up but he was doing everything in his power to resist the upcoming smile.
Rolling my eyes, I looked down at the picture. It was the same grumpy face one he'd clicked seconds ago. Not able to control myself, I started laughing at his expense.
"Aren't you charming?" I said, quoting his own words.
"Well, I try."
