Chapter 3

"Okay, give me a turn." Alice said while she stood back and looked at her work. Rhea twirled gracefully and then faced her. At first Rhea hated the idea of a makeover and fashion but as it started, she grew to love it. She was enjoying herself and even Esme joined in after a while.

"Perfect." Alice squealed and clapped her hands.

"I think those boots would go well." Rhea said while pointing to a pair of black ankle boots.

"Absolutely!" Alice smiled and passed them along.

"Now, we're ready." Esme smiled at her adopted daughters.

"Let's go." Emmett whined and sighed over exaggeratedly.

"You could've gone without us." Alice rolled her eyes.

"But I wanted to roll in with the squad." Emmett said with a goofy grin. All of the woman in the room rolled their eyes at his statement.

He certainly was a character.

"Rhea, I would like you to meet the Denali clan, our cousins." Carlisle introduced with a warm smile but Jasper could sense the worry and edginess of his adopted father.

"Its nice to meet you." Rhea said nervously.

"Welcome to the family." A beautiful blond spoke first and embraced Rhea as if she had known her for the longest of time.

"My name is Tanya and these are my sister Kate and Irina, and that is Eleazar and Carmen." She introduced, the sisters smile while Carmen stepped forward.

"Its very nice to meet you, dear." She said in a soft gentle voice while Eleazar stared.

"A pleasure to meet you, I have to say your gift... is remarkable. I've never met someone like you before." Eleazar said and looked at her in sheer awe. He looked surprised as his eyes widened with delight.

"What gift?" Carlisle asked in concern. He worried about how the volturi, they would eventually come for her.

Eleazar didn't answer Carlisle but instead looked at Rhea and asked, "Have you ever had a connection to animals?"

"Yes, Ever since I was little." Rhea answered confused by his question. Why would that have anything to do with her gift?

"Does her gift have something to do with animals?" Esme asked.

"When was your first encounter with an animal?" He asked while Alice smiled knowingly, she had seen Rhea's future and was very pleased.

"When I was four, my sisters and I were playing hide and seek and I wondered too far into the forest. I got lost and then came across this mountain lion, at the time I just thought it was a big cat so I approached it. It was up to me and licked my face and led me out of the forest then ran away." Rhea smiled at the memory while Esme had a horrified look on her face.

"That was so dangerous." She gasped and brought Rhea closer and caressed her hair.

"I know, but its what made me want to become a veterinarian." Rhea smiled sheepishly.

"Well it seems very fitting. You're an animal shifter otherwise known as Therianthropy." Eleazar explained.

"That is so cool!" Emmett exclaimed while everyone rolled their eyes at him.

"I don't mean to be rude, but you seem very young, do you mind telling us how you turned?"Kate spoke up and gave her a warm smile.

"Well I got into a fight with my brother and stormed off into the woods... there was this woman. She had bright red hair and eyes, she was so... angry." Rhea started and zoned out as if reliving the moment.

"She spoke about how my friends killed hers and that she was going to teach them a lesson. Laurent, she said his name was." Rhea said and as if the name was a trigger Irina's head snapped forward while she let out a deadly snarl.

"And who are these friends?" Irina growled.

"I don't know." Rhea said quickly and went to Carlisle's side who pushed her behind him like a father would his child.

"Irina, its not Rhea's fault... please be reasonable." Carlisle said but his tone told everyone that he would not back down. He's had never felt rage like this before. He would do anything to protect Rhea... his daughter... he felt closer to her than to any of his other children.

Esme, the normally calm, gentle one stood protectively in front of Rhea, her new daughter. No one had ever seen her like this before.

"Carlisle, Who are these friends?" Tanya asked calmly.

"We suspect the wolves to be involved." He answered back, but he was not calming down but instead got more on edge as Irina stepped closer. He released a warning growl.

"We must avenge him." Irina growled.

"We have a treaty with them." Esme tried to reason.

"I don't care about the treaty. They killed my mate." She screamed at Esme. Rhea grabbed onto Esme's arm, startled but Irina's volume.

"Be reasonable. Its their territory." Carlisle said, his voice this time was gentle but Irina wasn't having it. She let out a growl then stormed off.

"You must understand, Laurent was her mate." Tanya said then followed after her sister to which Kate followed too. The Cullen's then left as they knew the sisters would be angry.

"So what do you think you could change into?" Emmett asked curiously.

"I have no idea." Rhea looked at him with raised eyebrow. She hadn't been a vampire for more than a day, what did he expect...

"Well maybe you should try it out." Alice said with a knowing smile.

"How?" she asked.

"Maybe it's like our gifts, try and concentrate on what you to be." Jasper explained.

"Okay give me an animal." She told them.

"A tiger, no wait! A kitten!" Emmett exclaimed excitedly.

Rhea closed her eyes and concentrated just like Jasper said, and just like Rhea was no more and in her place was a baby tiger who started to purr and lick her paws.

"Awe, look at the baby." Emmett cooed and held Rhea as he cooed.

Rhea squirmed in his arms as he petted her a bit to roughly.

"Emmett be gentle with her." Esme said taking her from him.

"Well that was easier than I thought." Rhea said changing back to herself.

"Okay, now turn into a kangaroo!" Emmett demanded while everyone face palmed. He was definitely something.
