Synposis: They longed to see each other again
"Oh God and then guess what happened? She accidentally sent the butt pic she was supposed to send to my brother to the family group chat!" Casey laughed, clutching onto her phone and she turned to rest comfortably on her side.
"No way! That's so embarrassing!" Izzie gasped.
"It really is. But I expect nothing else from her. She's a crazy one," Casey said and Izzie giggled.
On the other side of the screen, Casey could see Izzie's books on the table she was sitting at. "Am I distracting you from studying?" Casey asked and Izzie smirked. "You're always a distraction babe. But no I'm done studying actually. Last exam tomorrow!"
"And then you will be all mine," Casey smirked. "Ugh I can't wait to see you next week. It's been like what, 4 months?" Izzie asked.
Casey had returned home the week before after all her exams were finished. She was excited to see Sam and missed home-cooked food and she'll admit, it was weird not having Elsa around to control her all of the time. And as expected, Elsa babied her the entire week but Casey was not going to complain because being away from her family for so long only made her love them even more.
Of course, she FaceTimed Izzie every night since the day she left Los Angeles to go back home to Florida before she returned to school in Massachusetts. They talked about the day they would finally reunite again and that day was finally coming in a week. Izzie was finishing her last few papers and then she would get packed to leave for Santa Clarita to see Casey and her family for 2 weeks before retuning to Florida to see her siblings.
"My family's gonna love you. I told them about you," Casey said and Izzie's eyes lit up.
"Oh yeah? What do they think?"
"They bombarded me with a million and one questions but I told them they could meet you when you come here. You're staying with us by the way."
"Are you sure it's convenient? I could always just get a hotel-"
"Nope. It's final. You're staying here. Plus, my brother has moved in with his friend so you can take his room."
"Sounds like a plan babe."
"Alright I better not keep you up. Gotta be fresh for your exam yeah."
"Goodnight, I love you."
"I love you too. So much."
Izzie ended the call first and Casey plopped back down on her back, an uncontrollable smile on her face.
The following week, Casey was constantly on her phone checking on updates from Izzie- whether she had boarded the plane, whether she had landed. "You ought to relax Casey. It's gonna be fine," Elsa reassured, noticing the nervousness on her daughter's face as she sat opposite her at the kitchen. "I know it's just... I haven't seen her for so long. Plus you guys are meeting my girlfriend for the first time, it's a huge deal."
"You were never this nervous when introducing us to Evan," Elsa reminded and Casey sighed. "Well yeah that's cos... he's a guy. I didn't need to worry about that part. And also, Evan was just a stupid high school relationship. Izzie means a lot to me. I'm taking this seriously."
"Well I'm glad to see you maturing. And it doesn't matter to me if you date a girl or a guy. I will love you so much either way," Elsa said with a smile before kissing Casey's cheek. Casey was too touched by her words to pretend to be repulsed by the action.
Elsa walked up to her room which gave Casey some time to think about her words. Then, her phone lit up and Casey excitedly grabbed it.
Izzie: Just landed! Can't wait to see you
Casey's heart leaped to her throat but she couldn't want any longer. "Guys! I'm gonna go pick her up now! Get the house ready!" Casey yelled out to no one before grabbing her keys and leaving the house.
At the airport, Casey felt a hit of deja vu and she thought back to the last time she was with Izzie when she sent her off. Every moment away from Izzie felt like torture and she couldn't wait to see her again but she had to admit, the phone conversations made the 4 months fly by really quickly. Now, she was waiting in excitement as she looked around the crowd of people who were walking out of immigration, hoping to catch the face she so dearly missed.
After about 5 minutes, Casey noticed Izzie lugging her heavy suitcase, her jacket on her left shoulder. Casey had practised in her mind how she was going to react to seeing Izzie and she had planned to not embarrass herself in public and to just wait until they got into the car to give her a kiss.
But all those thoughts flew out of the window the moment she saw her girlfriend as she ran with lightning speed towards her. Izzie didn't even notice her until she felt someone lift her high up into the air. She squealed before laughing as Casey set her back onto the ground. Before Izzie could even say anything or process Casey's face, she felt Casey's hands on her face before bringing her into a passionate kiss.
Izzie let go of the handle of her suitcase and wrapped her arms securely around Casey's neck. sighing into the kiss, not caring about the judgemental eyes that were probably on them.
"Hi..." Izzie breathed out when Casey pulled away. "Hey... hey baby..." Casey whispered, not being able to believe that Izzie was actually, finally physically here with her. "I missed you so much. Oh my God, this is... hi..." Izzie continued and Casey laughed, trying to fight back her tears.
"How was the flight?" Casey asked. "Good, good. I'm just... wow. I can finally touch you," Izzie replied. "Come on... let's go."
Casey took Izzie's bags before taking her hand with her other free hand. Izzie rested her head on Casey's shoulder as they walked, enjoying each others' presence with no words spoken.
Once they had returned to Casey's car, Izzie smirked as she checked out the exterior while her girlfriend placed the bags in the back. "Sick ride Gardner," Izzie said and Casey rolled her eyes. "It's my dad's. I got my driving privileges last year. But it came at the worst time cause I had to leave for UCLA anyways," Casey said, closing the back as Izzie got into the passenger seat.
"Hot girlfriend with her own car? Very sexy," Izzie smirked and Casey bit her lip before leaning over to kiss her again. Izzie raised her hands to put them at the sides of Casey's neck, pulling her in deeper. Casey raised her knee up to lean further onto the console and with just a little push, she would be completely on top of Izzie. But before she could, Izzie painfully pulled away, breathing heavily as she looked around nervously.
"I don't really wanna do this in the car park where the whole world can see us," Izzie said and Casey giggled. "Plus, we should probably get back to your house soon. Don't wanna be late and make a bad first impression on your parents," Izzie said nervously and Casey ran her fingers through her hair.
"They'll love you. Anyone who doesn't is completely out of their mind," She said before kissing her cheek and proceeding to move out of the parking lot.
When they reached the Gardner household, Izzie walked timidly behind Casey as they moved to the front porch. Casey looked at her girlfriend reassuringly before knocking on the door.
After a few seconds, the door swung open to reveal Elsa, standing there with a bright smile. Izzie had only ever seen her in photos.
"You must be Izzie! It's so nice to finally meet you, I've heard so much about you from Casey. Come in!" She exclaimed and Izzie could not help but feel warm at the openness and kindness of her girlfriend's mother.
"It's lovely to meet you too Mrs Gardner," Izzie said shyly as the girls entered the house. Izzie took some time to scan her surroundings. She had imagined what Casey's house would look like every time she noticed the background during their video calls. "You have a very nice home Mrs Gardner," Izzie said as Elsa helped her with her bags. "Thank you dear. Do you want to get get washed up? We'll have dinner soon," Elsa said and Izzie nodded before Casey led her to her shared bathroom with Sam.
"Welcome to my humble abode," Casey smirked as Izzie entered the room. "Very, very classy. Let me guess, you only cleaned it because I was coming. I've seen how messy it usually is during our calls," Izzie teased and Casey gasped. "Alright enough bullying. Do you need some clothes?" Casey asked and Izzie shook her head no before opening up her suitcase.
"I've got everything I need. Um, where am I sleeping?" Izzie asked and Casey moved closer to her. "Well I was obviously hoping you could sleep with me in my bed," Casey mumbled, wrapping her arms around Izzie's waist. "But I don't know how my parents are gonna feel about that... but Sam's room is right next door."
Izzie giggled and rolled her eyes before planting a kiss on her cheek and going into the bathroom.
When dinner time came around, Doug was sitting in front of the TV, watching the news as Izzie helped Elsa set the table. Casey had gone to pick Sam up from his apartment.
The doorbell rang and Elsa excitedly hurried to open it, excited to see Sam after so long. "Oh! Hi guys!" Elsa said, surprised to see Paige and Zahid standing together with Sam and Casey, who didn't look too happy.
"They demanded I bring them too," Casey explained and Elsa smiled. "Well, the more the merrier," Elsa said before moving aside to let them in.
"Ah! So you're Izzie. Casey's new girl," Zahid said, walking towards Izzie who blushed. "You won queen," He said to Casey who laughed before winking at Izzie. "Alright so we've got baked pasta and shepherd's pie and coconut cream pie for dessert!" Elsa announced, bringing the trays of food to the dining table.
Dinner went smoothly as Casey had hoped. Elsa asked Izzie about school and demanded they share more details about how they met. Paige ranted about her job "as a potato" which Izzie was confused about but Casey rolled her eyes at her, telling her to not bother asking. Zahid's relationship with Honey was going great which Casey was happy about and the rest of the time, everyone was getting to know Izzie better and they took a liking to her immediately. Elsa couldn't help but feel relieved, knowing that Izzie was great for her only daughter.
Izzie offered to help take everyone's plates and Elsa said she would do the washing with her. "It's very sweet of you to offer to do the dishes Izzie," Elsa said with a smile as she scrubbed one of the plates. "Oh I'm used to it... my mum she... she wasn't really around much. I had to deal with cooking dinner and washing for my siblings since a really young age," Izzie explained quietly and Elsa looked at her with sadness. "Where's your dad, if you don't mind me asking?"
"Oh I love him. But they got a divorce when I was really young and now he's working and living in LA. He tries to come home to Florida to see me and my siblings as much as possible but he's got a pretty hectic work schedule. That's why I went to visit him instead during my break and that's when I met Casey," Izzie said and Elsa reassuringly placed a hand on Izzie's shoulder. "You're really good for her dear. Even before meeting you I just knew it. She's always so happy when she talks about you and even when she was in LA and I would call her, all she would talk about it how much she can't wait for us to meet you. That girl loves you," Elsa said and Izzie felt tears stinging her eyes. "I love your daughter so much. In these few short months she's given me so much happiness," Izzie said and Elsa pulled her into a hug.
Once everyone left, Casey brought Izzie for a drive to the 711. "Slurpees? Really?" Izzie giggled when Casey came back to the car with two giant cups.
"Trust me! This is the shit."
"It's just coloured sugar water."
"It's TASTY coloured sugar water. Try the cherry one," Casey said, passing her the red cup. Izzie rolled her eyes before taking a sip.
"Holy shit! That is actually good!"
"I told you. They don't make em like this in Florida. This is one of the many things I missed about home."
"Which flavour did you get?" Izzie asked, bending over to sip on Casey's straw without waiting for her to reply. "Root beer. It's the best one. But now half the cup is gone thanks to you!"
"Stop exaggerating!" Izzie exclaimed as Casey giggled. The girls looked at each other for a while before leaning in to place their foreheads together.
"You know... I'm so thankful I built up the courage to go to the cafe and ask you out. Changed my life forever," Casey whispered before kissing Izzie's forehead and then returning to keep their foreheads together.
"I love you. I thought about you everyday in Massachusetts. I was waiting to come see you for so long," Izzie said.
"Well, I have a surprise for you," Casey said, reaching behind her to get something.
She returned to face Izzie before giving her a piece of paper. Confused, Izzie took it and opened it up to read.
"I bought myself a ticket to Florida. I'm going with you. I wanna see your siblings."
Izzie gasped and looked up, unable to form words. "I wanted to pay for your ticket too but you already bought it. But I'm gonna bring you and your siblings around and we'll eat so much food and do so many fun things... things you guys couldn't do because of your mum."
Izzie's lips quivered as her eyes moved back to read the information on the ticket, not believing it. "Don't cry babe," Casey whispered, moving closer and Izzie wrapped her arms around her.
"Casey... I... I don't know what to say."
"What about this? Next summer, you come over to LA. And then we can meet your dad," Casey suggested and Izzie laughed through her tears.
"All this travelling is gonna make us go crazy," Izzie said and Casey giggled. "And once we're done with school, the both of us will finally settle down somewhere. Anywhere you want," Casey said, kissing her forehead.
"What about the North Pole. Heard it's completely human-less," Izzie said and Casey giggled.
"Can't wait."
Izzie looked at Casey for a while more, wiping away her tears before leaning in to kiss her.
"I love you Casey."
"I love you too Izzie, so much."
