Synopsis: Izzie hates Casey's friends and Casey's world revolves around Izzie
^i miss them so much i'm never getting over them
One of the worst days of Izzie's life was when she received her envelope from UCLA. She sat down on the couch, the sound of her siblings playing in the living room a distant away as she tore open the envelope. She felt utterly rejected. Utterly disappointed.
But it was also one of the best days of her life because her girlfriend had texted her excitedly.
"Did you get your letter???"
"I GOT IN!"
Izzie smiled at the messages before jumping off the couch. She told the older of her siblings to watch the young ones for a while before she got into her car and sped off to the Gardner household.
The first thing she did was jump into Casey's arms, followed by a "Congratulations, I'm so proud of you, and then followed by a passionate kiss and finally Casey becoming absolutely distraught when Izzie had told her the bad news on her side.
"That makes no sense! You're so fast!" Casey exclaimed, plopping down on the couch. "Everything happens for a reason I guess," Izzie told her, stroking her girlfriend's hair between her fingers.
"It's not fair. I want you there with me," Casey sulked and Izzie sighed before pulling her into a hug.
Now 4 months had passed since Casey had left home for UCLA and their last goodbye was absolutely brutal. Izzie had gotten a spot in Denton which she was pretty satisfied with, especially since it was closer to home.
But she spent everyday in class thinking about Casey. They FaceTimed and messaged at every given chance but the chances were becoming less and less as Casey got busier with track and Izzie got caught up with exams and some work she was doing in the GSA at Denton.
Izzie worked many jobs at restaurants together with school to pull together some money to not only buy presents for her sister's birthday that was coming up, but also because she was planning to fly down to surprise Casey at school.
Quinn, their track teammate and Clayton, was also in UCLA right now and staying in the same hostel as Casey.
Izzie knew that Casey had a roommate, Michelle, but Casey never really talked about her. It was mainly "Yeah Michelle went to get dinner," whenever the two girls wanted some alone time during their unfiltered phone conversations.
Quinn told Izzie the week before she flew off that the hostel watchman was pretty strict about outsiders staying the night so Quinn had come up with plans to keep him out of sight so that Izzie and Casey could spend some time together.
When Izzie had landed, Quinn was at the airport already. A wide grin appeared on her face when she saw Izzie come out of the airport as they ran to go hug each other.
"Oh my God, it's so good to see you babes. How's Denton treating you?" Quinn asked, taking her bags.
"It's been great actually. Made a lot of new friends and I've been doing lots of things for the GSA too," Izzie told her.
"That's amazing. You know Casey's missing you like crazy. She wears your track jacket before training and at every meet. You're her lucky charm," Quinn said with a smirk.
Izzie blushed and sighed, more than ready to see her girlfriend after 4 months. She had felt like there was a piece missing from her because her girlfriend was away and she simply could not wait to kiss her for the first time in ages.
It was around 4pm when they had reached the campus so the watchman wasn't there yet.
Izzie looked around the campus in awe. It truly is magnificent and she suddenly felt a touch bit disappointed that she had let this opportunity slip away from her. But she always reminded herself how grateful she was for Denton and that it could have been a blessing in disguise that she wasn't accepted here.
Quinn parked right outside the hostel. "You ready?" She asked, noticing the nervousness on Izzie's face.
"Before I went to pick you up, she was studying in her dorm room. You guys can have all the time in the world to do your mushy corny gay shit," Quinn laughed and Izzie rolled her eyes before getting out of the car.
Izzie stopped outside Casey's dorm door and Quinn gave her a thumbs-up before turning around to walk back to her room.
Izzie took in a deep breath before raising her hand to knock on the door.
"Coming!" She heard the familiar sweet voice of her girlfriend and Izzie almost choked up. She was finally right there with her.
The door swung open and Casey took a while to adjust to who was in front of her before her eyes widened.
"IZZIE?!" She screamed, and before Izzie even had the chance to process her girlfriend's presence, she felt herself getting lifted off the ground. She giggled as Casey hugged her tight, squealing in excitement as they got the attention of other people in the corridor.
When Casey set her down, they were still laughing. Casey put her hands on her girlfriend's cheeks before leaning in, both girls sighing when their lips connected.
"What... what're you doing here? I thought... I thought you had exams!"
"Well... I lied. I finished last week," Izzie giggled and Casey wrapped her girlfriend in a hug again.
"Oh my God, I can't believe you're actually here," Casey whispered, bringing her girlfriend closer.
When the two entered the room, Izzie sat on Casey's bed while Casey sat on the chair and told her all about her experience at UCLA. "But everyone here is so competitive! It's so stressful always trying to beat my timings. And everyone is just so good on the team!"
"Well, I bet my track star is still winning at every meet huh?" Izzie said with a proud smile. The track meets were sometimes streamed online and Izzie didn't let anything stop her from watching her girlfriend run. Every time she won, Izzie knew she deserved this. Casey deserved every success. And she was so happy she was running for UCLA and living the dream for both of them.
Casey smiled giddily at her girlfriend's compliment before walking towards her and bending down to give her a kiss.
She put her hands on the sides of Izzie's jaw and just before Izzie could pull her onto the bed, the door slammed open, causing the two girls to move away from each other.
"Oh my God! They had no more Cheetos at the supermarket. None!" An unfamiliar voice to Izzie spoke and both girls looked at the doorway.
"Oh! Hi?" The girl said in confusion when she saw Izzie. "Michelle, this is Izzie. She came here to surprise me," Casey said with a smile.
"Ah! I remember now! Casey's showed me so many of your pictures together. It's nice to meet you," She said in a pretty passive aggressive tone but Izzie decided not to think much of it.
"It's nice to meet you too!"
"Now that you're here maybe you can get Casey under your control. She's going crazy at all the college parties! Real eye candy of a girlfriend you got," She snickered before entering the bathroom.
"College parties? You never seemed like a college parties kind of person," Izzie said in confusion.
"Yeah well... college changes people," Casey shrugged, giving me a quick kiss before moving to her cupboard.
"And eye candy?" Izzie asked, chuckling softly.
"You should understand that. I mean you fell head over heels for all of this," Casey said, gesturing across her body.
"Wait but she's being for real? You get girls?" Izzie asked, starting to feel a little insecure. "Well I don't GET girls because I have a girlfriend. Which is you. But yeah I guess girls have tried their shot before," Casey said casually. "Why? You jealous?" She asked with a smirk and Izzie rolled her eyes. "No, of course not."
"Good. Because you shouldn't be," Casey said, taking out a pile of clothes from her cupboard.
"You up for a party tonight?" She asked and Izzie's eyes widened.
"My friend Tanya's having one in her room. We could drink, have nice food..." Casey continued as she climbed over Izzie.
"And dance the night away..." She muttered before smirking and leaning down to kiss Izzie who moaned a little.
It had been months since she and Casey had gotten any close physical action and she had been craving it. She was hoping that Michelle would disappear for a while tonight so they could finally have that time together and hopefully, the watchman wouldn't catch them.
It was as if Casey realised that Michelle was still in the bathroom so she broke away quickly.
"Unless you were planning to do something else with me?" Casey asked and Izzie shook her head no.
Actually, she was planning to do something with Casey. Walk around off campus to go find slurpees and act as if the night belonged to them. Because it truly did. They always felt the night belonged to them when they were around each other.
"Yeah... we'll go for the party," Izzie whispered with a smile.
"Great! You can meet the track team, the girls from the lunch table... and the girls from my econs study group! They're a crazy bunch, you'll love them," Casey said excitedly.
Izzie bit her lip nervously. Casey was super likeable and everyone always wanted to be around her but she never had THIS many friends back at Clayton. Not that Izzie was upset about that, she was extremely happy that Casey had a good social scene here, especially since she was alone and away from family. But what Michelle said was stuck in her head.
She knew how good looking her girlfriend was. She wasn't surprised that guys and girls were trying their chances with Casey. She knew Casey was out as bisexual at school. But back at Clayton, they went to school together and openly dated so everyone knew that they were off limits.
But here? Izzie was miles away from Casey. Why would Casey still want to be with her when she has so many other options here? These intrusive and insecure thoughts were starting to creep into Izzie's head. This is not how she wanted this experience to turn out.
The sound of the bathroom door opening broke Izzie out of her thoughts as Michelle came out.
"Izzie's coming with us to the party," Casey told her and she smiled. "Great! Maybe now all those horny girls will leave you alone," Michelle snickered.
"Your friends don't know you have a girlfriend?" Izzie turned to ask Casey. "No they do! It doesn't stop them though," Michelle continued and Izzie bit her lip, her insecurity now turning to anger and jealousy.
"It's not a big deal! They're just dancing!" Casey protested. "Are you blind Gardner? Look how close they dance next to you," Michelle said and Casey rolled her eyes.
Izzie knew her girlfriend wasn't trying to defend their actions or lie about them. The truth is, Casey is genuinely a really oblivious person. She doesn't expect Casey to be able to read her feelings all the time but sometimes she felt that Casey was always focussed on just loving Izzie that she completely neglected anything else.
Even back at Clayton, the only thing Casey knew was how to love Izzie. But she was completely oblivious of who exactly she was or what any of it meant. She just knew she loves Izzie. And Izzie never wanted to push her to know anything more than that until she was ready. It's not like Izzie was aware of her surroundings every time she was with Casey.
And right now, the same thing was happening. But this time, Casey was just completely oblivious that every girl in this school wants to get in her pants. Part of Izzie is grateful for that but she also wishes Casey could realise that so that she could maybe actually go "I have a girlfriend back home, who I am completely utterly in love with. So please do not try your luck." But that's too much to ask of her sweet and innocent girlfriend. Izzie feels unreasonable to even want that.
Izzie got into clothes that she had packed for a night out. Casey seemed to already know what to wear, leaving Izzie to further guess that she was used to going to parties on impromptu.
At around 7pm, Casey and Izzie walked through the corridor, hand in hand. Michelle had already left first before them.
When the door flung open, Tanya's excited smile turned into confusion when she saw Izzie, who smiled shyly.
"Hey Tanya, this is Izzie. My girlfriend."
"Oh! Girlfriend. Welcome," She said.
Tanya didn't seem annoyed. Just a little worried.
When they both walked in, the party was already wild with both girls and guys dancing with red cups in their hands.
Casey scanned the room, grinning, ready to have fun but Izzie on the other hand, felt a pit of anxiety in her stomach.
"Casey!!" Izzie heard squeals from the corner before a group of girls rushed towards them,
"Oh hey. Are you a new student?" One of the girls with blonde hair asked. "Oh um... no... I'm..." Izzie mumbled and the girl furrowed her eyebrows, being nothing close to subtle that she was judging her.
"She's my girlfriend. The one I told y'all about," Casey said proudly, grinning at Izzie, which calmed Izzie's nerves.
"Wait what? I thought you were kidding about that! Well, nice to meet you I guess," The girl continued and Izzie bit her lip before looking down.
Another girl in the group moved closer to Casey before squeezing her arm.
"So are we dancing tonight?" She asked before biting her lip. Of course, Casey didn't notice to obvious flirting and Izzie's face burned with jealousy.
"Oh definitely! Come on babe, let's go dance," Casey turned to Izzie who shook her head reluctantly.
"Oh... no it's fine I'll just-"
"Don't be stupid. Let's have some fun," She said, dragging Izzie onto the dance floor.
They were in a group of around 20 people. This time, the group of girls, together with many more girls were surrounding Casey and it was almost as if they were trying to push Izzie out of the dance circle. Or maybe because they were crazy drunk.
Casey took one cup of alcohol and Izzie was happy to know that Casey wasn't a heavy drinker.
As the alcohol punctured the air, Izzie could see the girls dancing closer and closer to Izzie, never making a direct move, but it was so obvious they were trying to get Casey to give everything up.
And Izzie didn't take any alcohol. So she knew she wasn't crazy. All of this was actually happening.
That was when the song changed to Yoko Ono and Izzie looked at Casey whose eyes lit up. "Baby! Our song!" She exclaimed, pushing through the girls, who looked annoyed.
Izzie laughed as Casey pulled her back into the circle before pulling her close to her body. From the corner of Izzie's eye, she could see all the girls clearly wishing it was them instead in that position.
Izzie finally felt normal for the first time that night. Casey wasn't embarrassed to show Izzie off and it was obvious. They heard Quinn cheering from the corner of the room as they danced closer and closer together.
Izzie forgot about all the jealous feelings she had as Casey held her so close. And it did feel like the night belonged to them. This is the girl she's missed so much the past 4 months. FaceTime did no justice because right now, she was actually in her arms.
Izzie felt Casey's breath on her forehead. There was so denying that they were extremely turned on right now.
"Casey can do so much better. I looked her up. She goes to Denton. Probably got rejected by UCLA," She heard a voice from the corner of the room before a few laughs followed after.
Izzie immediately stepped back from Casey and she furrowed her eyes in confusion. Izzie looked around to see everyone looking at her before she pushed every away and ran out of the circle.
"Izzie!" She heard Casey call her name but she didn't stop as she pushed the door open and left.
That was when she didn't know where she could go. She wasn't back at home. Casey's dorm room was the only place she knew. And she couldn't leave and get caught by the watchman now.
"Izzie!" She turned around to see Casey walking towards her and she broke down immediately.
Casey's eyes widened as she ran towards her girlfriend.
"Babe? What's wrong?" Casey asked softly, bending down to place her hands on Izzie's cheeks.
Izzie moved away and Casey's arms fell back to her sides.
"Is it the party? Did I... did I dance too close?" Casey asked and Izzie took a deep breath before she cried some more.
Casey brought her close to her body and Izzie gave in and sunk into her chest.
Casey had her arm around her and she used the other to open the door to her room.
Izzie immediately went into the bathroom and before she could shut the door close, Casey stopped her and followed her inside.
Izzie sat on the toilet bowl lid and Casey stood in front of her.
"Are you fucking blind Casey?" was the first thing Izzie yelled, taking Casey aback. "What're you talking about?" Casey asked quietly.
"Do you not see the way those girls act around you? The way they dance with you, the way they touch you?" Izzie continued and Casey sighed. "Izzie they're just... touchy... and very friendly I guess."
"No they're not! I see the way they look at you. It's not JUST being friendly Casey."
Both girls were quiet for a while until Izzie spoke again. "I think I would know how someone who's in love with you would look at you. Because I look at you the same way."
"Izzie, I swear that-"
"Maybe she's right," Izzie interrupted. "Who?"
"That girl with the blonde hair. Maybe you can do better," Izzie choked up at the end as more warm tears rolled down her cheeks.
She immediately felt her girlfriend's touch on her face as Casey brought her face up to meet her eyes.
"You know a lot of stupid shit comes out of your mouth sometimes," Casey said and Izzie continued to look at her tear-eyed.
"Izzie... if I tell you something will you believe me?" She asked quietly and Izzie slowly nodded.
"There will never, ever be, even the slimmest chance, of me ever finding anyone else that makes me happy the way you do. Because there's only one of you in this world. And no one, and I mean absolutely no one, can compare to you."
Casey stroked Izzie's cheek as she saw the tension start to disappear.
"I thought about you every day. Every single day. From the moment I wake up, to when I close my eyes again at night. And sometimes, things get so hard. Sometimes I don't understand what's going on in class and sometimes training just doesn't go well and all I want to do on those sucky days is to give up and go home and just lay in your arms forever. Sometimes I cry myself to sleep because I extremely, disgustingly miss you so much. It can even sicken me to my stomach whenever I think about how we're thousands of miles away from each other."
Tears started to flow down Casey's cheeks too as her voice shook.
"And then I remember why I do this. It's because I do it for you. Every single second spend into training is because I want to be the best for YOU. I wanna make you proud. And I want to live the dream for both of us. Because we started this journey together and we'll end it together. No matter what it takes. Life can throw us every curveball and every shit show it has to offer and I still always, always choose you."
Casey leaned it and planted soft kisses on Izzie's forehead and nose.
"And you're worried about a bunch of drunk girls at a party? I don't even see the they're flirting because it doesn't matter to me. Because it's not gonna change the way I see you. They can try every trick in the book and you're still always gonna be the face I wanna fall asleep to on FaceTime."
Izzie laughed through her tears before pulling Casey back in and they connected their lips.
Casey pulled away and wiped Izzie's remaining tears.
"You know what? Let's get out of here," Casey said and Izzie furrowed her eyebrows. "I don't have exams till next week. I'll tell Michelle to tell the coach and teachers that I'm sick for the week. I'll bring my books with us so that I can study for next week. And you and I will get a hotel."
Izzie stared at her dumbfounded as Casey smirked before going to pack her bag.
"What if the watchman sees us leaving the dorm?" Izzie asked. "We'll just have to avoid him."
Izzie still couldn't believe what was happening until Casey had managed to actually book them a suite. "Can we even afford all this?" Izzie asked.
"I've got money from part-time track coaching," Casey said before giving her a quick kiss.
"You're so crazy Casey Gardner," Izzie mumbled as Casey wrapped her arm around her.
"You're crazier."
The two girls had actually managed to leave campus without getting caught as they ran to the main road to get a cab, laughing all the way.
"I can't believe we did that!" Izzie exclaimed, the high literally coursing through her veins.
Casey flagged down a cab and soon they were off to their suite.
The night belongs to them. Both girls knew that.
And once they got into the suite, Casey already had Izzie against the wall.
"I missed you," Casey whispered. "I missed you so, so much."
"I missed you too baby," Izzie mumbled before softly planting a kiss on her lips.
Casey picked Izzie up and she giggled as Casey dropped her on the bed. When Casey climbed over her, Izzie bit her lip in anticipation.
"When was the last time you were under me like this?" She said in a deep voice. Izzie pulled her down to kiss her again.
"You're mine," Izzie whispered against Casey's lips.
"Can I go home with you?" Casey suddenly asked.
"Like... not by the end of the week. Like in a month. I'll come see you," Casey said, taking off her shirt.
"Yeah?" Izzie mumbled, taking off her own shirt.
"Yeah..."
The two girls stared at each other lovingly for a while, taking each other in as Casey stroked Izzie's hair.
Izzie really is her one and only.
