Part 28

Sean awoke to the gentle strumming of a guitar. Sleepily he sat up, staring at the clock until his mind could focus enough to read it. Nine am. Swinging his legs off the bed, he climbed to his feet and made his way to the bathroom. When he stepped back out, he stretched and staggered toward the kitchen for some coffee. Sean pulled a mug down from the cabinet, smirking when he saw that the pot was already half gone. That was proof enough that Nate was up. Making his cup, he wrapped his hands around the cup to let the heat warm his hands. Inhaling the strong scent of the coffee, he blew on it until he could take a sip. For a time, he stood in the kitchen just trying to wake up. Since he was only able to take small sips, the coffee was working slowly. Which forced him to rest his arms on the island counter in order to stay upright. Staring at the countertop, Sean bit his lip at the memories he had with Nate in here. Beyond the sex, he found himself loving the little things that Nate did with him.

Staring at the DnD set up still on the dining table, Sean took another sip to hide his grin. Last night was starting to play over in his mind, until he decided to find Nate. He felt bad that he didn't get Nate off last night. He had planned to do so much more with him. Yet, for what it was... He'd never forget it. It was the most fun he had in a long time. It had been a simple night out and it had been magical. So much so that he felt like if he didn't confirm it with Nate... That it just might have been a dream. Walking down the hall to Nate's studio, he leaned into the half open door. Rylo was snoozing on a dog bed by Nate's desk in the corner, but lifted his head when Sean entered. Leaning a bit farther in, Sean saw Nate in a chair on the other side of the room. His separate computer was on and appeared to be recording the audio. Judging by the way Nate would glance up at the screen to check something on occasion as he played. Sean pressed his back against the doorframe, sipping his coffee in silent bliss.

He loved seeing Nate like this. Something about it was just so natural. Nate was wrapped up in his own little world. Sean wondered what was playing in Nate's headphones that he was silently singing along too. His microphone was positioned to pick up the audio from his guitar and he tapped his heel against the floor in time to the beat. Sean watched Nate's fingers completely mesmerized by them. He envied Nate's skills with musical instruments. Sean's eyes drifted down to see how his jeans hugged his legs, teasing him to walk over there to squeeze those thighs. Keeping himself under control, he took another sip of his coffee instead of going over there to touch him. He didn't want to interrupt him. Nate plucked a cord offkey with his guitar pick, then let out a frustrated groan as the pick slipped from his fingers and into the sound hole. Sean tried not to giggle, watching Nate lift his guitar to shake it out while muttering to himself in irritation. "Come on... Really? Son of a bitch." Finally shaking the pick free, Nate lowered his guitar to fix the audio on the computer.

Nate flexed his strumming hand, then reached for his coffee cup to take a swig. Nate closed out of a few things on his computer, then set his guitar aside to grab his mint colored electrical guitar. Plugging it in, he muttered out under his breath. "That's fine. If you won't do what I want today, then I'll work with this one. I don't care... I'm not mad..." Sean chuckled softly to himself, observing the way Nate slipped the guitar pick between his lips as he tuned his mint guitar. He looked a little tense, but after setting up a new audio file, he seemed to calm down. Sean didn't recognize the song until the familiar chords started. Sean grinned, loving the powerful rock tone Nate gave a classic Disney song. He even managed to silently sing along by reading Nate's lips. When the line came up for him to look left, Nate did and saw him. Jumping in his seat, Nate yelped out. "JEEZ-SUS!" Nate clutched his heart for a minute, then pulled his headphones down with a weak smile. Taking a few shaky breaths, he told him softly. "Damn, dude. You're going to give me a heart attack."

Sean cringed, mumbling back guiltily. "Sorry. I would have announced myself, but I didn't want to stop you. Are you ok?" Nate braced his guitar against the desk, stating out with a sharp glare at his other guitar. "Ya... Just been having a rough morning with her. She broke a string and then she ate my pick twice. I don't know... Maybe we both just aren't feeling it today." Sean moved closer, setting his coffee down on the desk, before sliding his hands down Nate's shoulders. Rubbing Nate's pectoral muscles comfortingly, he purred over his shoulder. "Maybe you need a break for a few minutes?" Nate placed his hands over Sean's rubbing them a little, upon answering in a honey-glazed voice. "Mmmm, did you have something in mind?" Sean turned Nate's chair around until he faced him. Grabbing Nate's shoulders, Sean moved in to straddle Nate's lap. Nate's hands slid around Sean's waist to pull him up his lap a bit more, grinning as he told him suggestively. "You seem to be in a good mood."

Sean grasped Nate's headphones, carefully removing it from around his neck and replying sweetly. "I am." Setting the headphones on the desk, Sean touched the sides of Nate's jaw and leaned in to kiss him. One of Nate's hands slipped under the back of Sean's shirt, his fingers spreading out to caress as much of his back as possible. The gesture made Sean moan into the kiss, before breaking it to whisper to him. "I'm sorry if I left you all hot and bothered last night." Nate playfully nipped Sean's lower lip, then whispered back innocently. "It's fine. I just wanted you to have a good time." Sean lightly brushed his lips over Nate's, breathlessly whispering. "I had a great time. I didn't want it to end." Nate chuckled softly, answering lovingly. "I know. It doesn't have to though. We can do something else together." Sean kissed him again, until Nate's phone started ringing. Nate did his best to ignore it, but in the end, Sean broke the kiss to let him answer it. Nate took his phone off the desk to look at the caller ID.

Sighing wearily, he muted the call and set it aside. Sean waited patiently, when Nate told him in an uncertain tone. "It's the Pax agent. He's probably got my schedule all sorted out. We were having issues getting it all straightened out. Between my album signing, the Q&A, my panel show, and my DnD stuff for Dice Camera Action... It's going to mentally wear me down..." Sean rubbed Nate's shoulders, telling him in a drained voice. "I'm not sure I even want to go this year... I love my fans, but..." Sean lowered his eyes to look at the carpet. He couldn't finish that thought. However, Nate did it for him by saying in a very low tone of voice. "But they'll be there..." Sean inhaled deeply, closing his eyes as he nodded and added out weakly. "Now that Felix's ban is lifted... Ya. They'll both be there... and I'll..." Nate's hand touched his cheek, causing him to open his eyes to stare into his soft brown ones. Nate smiled warmly, informing him tenderly. "You will have me there. My schedule will make it hard for me to see you... but I will be there. And when your panel is over, you can come see me... If you want to."

Sean hugged Nate, mumbling against his neck. "Of course, I'd go see you. Why would I miss a chance to see you sing?" Nate rubbed his back, chuckling out playfully. "Well... I mean... Eating is a thing." Sean rolled his eyes even though Nate couldn't see it. When he finally sat back, Nate booped his nose and asked him playfully. "Hey... Do you feel like doing something crazy with me today?" Sean raised an eyebrow, giving him a small shrug. Tracing his fingers down Nate's tank top, he curiously said under his breath. "I guess it depends. What did you have in mind?" Nate's hands stroked up and down Sean's sides, telling him with a broad smile. "What do you think about playing a real interactive game?" Sean brushed the bangs from his eyes, questioning him more curiously. "You mean like VR?" Nate gave a brief chuckle, then shook his head. Pulling Sean's hips up against his body, Nate brushed his lips along Sean's throat, answering playfully. "No. I'm talking about IRL gaming. I'm talking about laser tag or paint ball. What do you think?"

A broad grin spread over Sean's face as he answered excitedly. "Sure. But you should know... I'm a pro gamer. So, don't feel bad when you lose because of my amazing skills." Nate kissed Sean's lips passionately, whispering coolly only after he pulled away. "Is that a fact? Then I should be worried." Nate smacked Sean's ass, causing Sean to jump in surprise. Giving him a suspicious look, Sean mumbled out cautiously. "I'll get changed then." Sean climbed off Nate's lap feeling like Nate was hiding something from him. After changing and getting into the car, Nate drove him down to the large building for Laser tag. The parking lot was practically empty with school still going on, but there were a few people around their age going inside. Nate turned off the car, then led him inside. An older man at the counter finished with a few guys, before turning in their direction and waving with a warm smile. Nate waved back to the man, taking that moment to lean over Sean's shoulder to tell him wickedly. "Oh... Maybe I should have mentioned this... I used to work here. So, you'll have to be at the top of your game to beat me."

Sean narrowed his eyes on Nate in a playful stern expression. He couldn't help feeling slightly set up, but it promised to be fun anyway. Nate approached the counter to shake the older man's hand. While Nate talked to the man, Sean looked around at how big the place was. He even tried to imagine Nate working here. Nate never ceased to amaze him. He had done so much in his life... and he felt like he hadn't even started to do anything with his. It made him smirk to think of Nate as a Jack-of-all-trades. Nate came back to tap his arm, informing him happily. "Alright. We'll be going in next. Teams are made up of a minimum of four people. So, we'll be joining forces with two other guys. Plus, the four people on the other team. Follow me." Sean obediently followed Nate since he seemed to know what he was doing. Slipping into a room, a person dressed in a commander's uniform handed out the infrared vests and told their group the basics on how to play. Sean listened closely but couldn't help noticing that Nate was staring at a map on the wall.

He found out why, when the commander pointed to the wall and informed them that it was a map of the indoor arena. Sean glanced at it, but practically swallowed his tongue. The map was huge and had multiple levels! He couldn't see how anyone could memorize this shit. The commander then stood by a yellow door at the end of the room, telling them in a bellowing voice. "Your goal is to go in and tag your opponents. The more you take down. They higher your individual score. To win, you must eliminate the enemy's base. If you do not, then their fallen enemies will crawl back to the camp in order to come back. If neither base is destroyed at the end of the round, then the team who killed the most people wins. Then from that team, the player with the highest score will get a promotion in the form of a free small pizza." Nate and Sean cheered, but the other two guys stood like statues. Sean gave Nate a weary look. They appeared to be taking this game WAY to seriously. The commander checked his watch, adding out lastly. "Take your gun from the rack and discuss any plan of attack. When the door buzzes, get out as fast as you can and set yourselves up. You're playing defense this round." To Be Continued...
