Part 14

Sean set down his coffee cup on the island counter, before stepping around to see. Sitting by Nate's leg was a beautiful dog. The dog looked at from Nate to Sean with the biggest and softest brown eyes that Sean had ever seen. Sean's heart went out to Rylo instantly. Slowly walking up to him, Sean kneeled down and extended a cautious hand out to him. Rylo sniffed it like he expected Sean to have something. When he realized Sean didn't have anything, Rylo still licked his palm. His long tail dusting the floor simply happy for the attention anyway. Sean relaxed, reaching out with both hands to rub Rylo's long fluffy ears. Nate grinned, unclipping Rylo's leash from his collar, while telling Sean openly. "That was Morgan at the door. She got a new apartment and unfortunately... " Sean let out a heavy sigh, adding out in a knowing tone of voice. "They don't accept dogs... Ya. Not a lot of places do anymore."

Nate nodded, perking up a bit to say. "So, that just means that Rylo will be staying with me. I hope you don't mind?" Sean chuckled as Rylo scooted closer to him to lick Sean's neck. Trying to avoid his kisses enough to talk, he answered Nate warmly. "Mind? Nate, you just went up a few points in my book." Nate huffed, curiously asking a bit distracted. "Really? How did I manage that?" Sean kissed Rylo's big black nose, then replied happily. "I prefer a guy with a dog." Nate let out a laugh as he refilled their coffee cups, stating back innocently. "Must have dogs. Got it. And here I thought I just needed to like pineapple on pizza." Sean chuckled, chiming out playfully. "Well, ya. There is that too." Nate set Sean's coffee on the counter, leaning his hips against the island as he sipped his own. Sean's eyes drifted from Rylo to Nate's legs. Seeing the torn up jeans and the skin it revealed was enough to bring his full attention back to Nate.

Slowly standing back up, Sean picked up his coffee cup to take a sip. He hoped that Nate hadn't noticed him staring at his legs. It was hard not to look at Nate, when he looked so inviting. Avoiding his eyes, Sean lowered his cup, asking slightly nervous. "So, what is Rylo? He's not like any dog that I've seen." Nate set his cup down, sliding closer to Sean as he said casually. "I don't know. We adopted him from a shelter. The most they could tell us was that he is a mix. He's got the body of a golden retriever... but maybe some german shepherd in their for color?" Sean glanced down at Rylo, seeing out of his peripheral vision how close Nate was now. Rylo was wandering around the kitchen, sniffing the floor. When Nate leaned in to kiss Sean's cheek, whispering warmly. "You wanna help me with something?" Sean narrowed his eyes on Nate from the corner of his eyes, asking suspiciously. "Depends... What do you want me to do?"

Nate snorted, moving away from him and gesturing for him to follow with a smirk. Sean picked up his coffee, taking another sip as he followed. As they made their way into the hallway, Sean told him playfully. "I don't know if I have the energy for that." Nate flashed him a grin over his shoulder that showed off his dimples. Nate shook his head, opening the door to his studio. Sean stepped in, starting to take another sip, but stopped. Nate had folded back a padded wall divider to reveal his drum set. Sean lowered his coffee cup away from his lips and Nate took it from him as he passed. Sean had an electric drum set at home, but it was nice to see one without wires. Sean dropped down onto the stool and smirked. Nate was only an inch taller than him, which made the set up feel nice. Picking up the drum sticks, he spun them between his fingers for fun. Nate chuckled, before telling him. "I was hoping you'd do a song with me."

Sean stopped spinning the drumstick, telling him uneasily. "You mean sing? Nate, I don't know. I'm not very confident with my singing voice. My accent makes it difficult." Nate pointed to the drum set, casually slipping in a bit smugly. "I was talking about you playing the drums for me. I'd like it if you said a line or two... but you don't have too. I just thought it would be fun to do." Sean shrugged, nervously admitting. "You sure? I'm a bit rusty." Nate rolled his eyes, setting Sean's coffee cup down on a small table, saying coolly. "That is what practice is for. Besides, I'm just doing audio for it. Will that help?" Sean blushed, lowering his eyes to the drums. Did he look that nervous to play with someone like Nate? Nate moved up next to him, waving him off the stool. Sean reluctantly got up, relinquishing his drumsticks. In a short time, he had grown so found of the drums that it was almost painful to get up without playing anything.

Nate spun the drumsticks in both hands to get a rise from Sean. Sean crossed his arms in response, muttering out. "Show off." Nate chuckled, sitting up on the stool as he told him excitedly. "Watch me go through it first and then I'll let you play." Nate started in and Sean watched his movements closely. He could see Nate singing something under his breath as he kept himself in the moment. Sean found it fascinating that Nate wasn't just skilled with a guitar, but drums too. Sean liked the beat of it and what he wanted him to do wasn't overly complicated. He was pretty sure that he had the basic parts of it down. Nate finished up, then handed the drumsticks back, asking him with a smile. "You got all that, kid?" Sean playfully took the drumsticks from him, uttering out. "Move over, old man. I got this." Nate smirked, slipped off the stool for him. Sean sat down and his mind went blank. Nate chuckled, fetching his iPod and flipping through a few songs.

Nate found the drum instrumental he'd made and let Sean listen to that. Sean listened to it a few times through, before starting to follow along with it. Nate set up his computer and the mics. Getting everything just the way he liked it. Whenever Sean screwed up a beat, Nate would flinch like he'd struck him in the back. It was funny to watch. So, he did a few on purpose just to mess with him. Nate had mentioned in a few of his videos how he was a bit controlling when it came to his music. He loved doing everything to make sure it was done the way he liked it. Which meant that every false beat was triggering him something fierce. Toward the end of the song, Sean completely added in a mix of wild beats that didn't go with the song. That got Nate to turn and glare at him. Sean flashed him an innocent smile, pulling out an earbud to ask him curiously. "Are you ready?"

Nate straightened up from bending over his desk, tuning his guitar as he told him playfully. "Yep. Though if you deviant like that again... You're fired." Sean chuckled, playing out a classic 'da dum dum tssh' across the drums. Nate rolled his eyes, muttering to himself as he adjusted his guitar strap. "I'm going to regret letting you do this." Nate walked over to stand before his mic and started in. It was a practice run, but Sean had a lot of fun with it. There were only two transitions he missed, because he wasn't focusing on what he was doing. He had been watching the way Nate got up and personal with his mic. It was sexy to see him get lost in the lyrics of his song. By the second run through, Nate had convinced him to say three lines for the song. Then by the third, they were recording it. When they finished, Nate took his time playing with it on his computer.

Giving Sean time to stretch and explore his studio a bit. Sean found a little piano and sat down to play the very few cords he knew. He used to take piano lessons, but he hadn't used that knowledge in years. He was in the middle of playing around with it, when Nate's arms lowered over his shoulders to touch his hands. Nate spread his fingers out more, whispering close to his ear. "Like this. Let me show you." Sean let his fingers go slack, letting Nate press down on them to play the keys in a much calmer tune, than the one he had been playing. It was beautiful. Although, his focus wasn't entirely on the song. He was enjoying how Nate's fingers applied little pressure to play the keys and the feeling of Nate's warm breath on his throat. The moment Nate finished, his hands slid down the back of Sean's hands to travel up along his arms to his shoulders. Sean looked up at him, finding Nate's lips in a tender kiss.

The kiss took Sean's breath away and he found himself asking Nate with a loving smirk. "Is there anything you can't do?" Nate blushed, rubbing Sean's shoulders as he answered with a chuckle. "Well... I'm not as good of a gamer as you are." Sean touched one of Nate's hands on his shoulders to keep it there a bit longer, telling him playfully. "With my help, you could be." Nate snorted, pulling away, while adding out. "No thanks. I can't be good at everything. Besides, it would take me too long to learn all your tricks. My music would start to feel neglected. I'd rather just watch you play." Sean turned around on the piano bench, drawing Nate's attention back, upon stating hopefully. "About that... Do you think you could help me get my D&D character finished? I've been dying to play." Nate quickly backed away from the door to his studio. Moving to his desk, he opened a drawer to pull out a few hardback books that had Dungeon's and Dragons written on them.

Then with the playful jerk of his head toward the hall, he told him excitedly. "Alright. Come on. Let's see what you got." Sean jumped to his feet trying to contain his happiness. He couldn't tell Nate how much this meant to him. Jogging back out into the living room, Sean helped Nate clear off the coffee table. Nate ventured out to the car to get his handbook and papers, leaving Sean to snuggle with Rylo on the couch as he waited. Nate dropped onto the couch beside Rylo, looking over Sean's character sheet. Sean felt uneasy watching him. Had he picked the wrong kind of character? Did he not fill enough out? Nate suddenly smirked, teasing him with a chuckle. "A rogue, huh? That should be an easy one to do a solo quest with... Assuming you don't die." Sean narrowed his eyes on Nate, playfully scolding back. "You plan to kill me?" Nate's grin turned wicked, telling him sassily. "Oh, Sean... I'm the DM. My job is to get you killed." To Be Continued...
