Chapter 35. The Menon's new bride!
The priest chanted the holy mantra and told Prisha to put rice in the Veli.
Then Sanal put Prisha's foot on the Ammi(grinding stone) signifying that she is breaking ties with her family andstepping onto a new family.
After the wedding rituals were over, the guests were instructed to move towards the dining hall for the wedding feast – Sadhya.
Sanal and Prisha were seated together at the dining table with Trishna near to Prisha and Previn near to Sanal teasing them occasionally. Amritha held her Shyam's arm seeing the lovely couple having their first meal together. Shyam knew the burden that Amritha was carrying around to make her friend find his perfect love.
She felt her hair ruffled by Shyam who spoke "I am so proud of you, Ami," Amritha nodded her head and smiled loving at him who had supported her from the start.
The Varmas and Menon family alongwith Nair family had decided to keep the reception in the wedding hall itself as they wanted the new couple to go for their honeymoon trip the other day. They wanted them to relax immediately after the wedding and gifted them a week-long trip to Switzerland.
Sameer had booked one of the best resorts for his son and his new bride with the most relaxing ambience.
Vinay had planned their entire week with all the fun activities which could be enjoyed by the new couples
The ladies had managed to fill their suit cases for the honeymoon with neither of their approval but that of Trishna, Amritha and Benisha who happily assisted.
After the Sadhya, Sanal was instructed to get ready for the reception party as it was early evening. The reception was for their friends who had missed the wedding, the party being kept in the late evening.
The men's dressing room and ladies dressing room were quite near to each other.
The Stage was set for the bride and groom making a grand entrance for them.
The cousins and friends had prepared a special dance for the bride groom surprising them.
Both of them entered the hall with the blast of music playing to welcome them onto the stage.
Sanal was trying to control his laughter at Dino and Garuav's effort to pull off the dance moves which was taught by Benisha from the past one week.
Benisha was getting furious at his mistakes and glaring at him.
Prisha was giggling at her friends antics and grabbed Sanal's hand who gazed at her.
She had worn a red ruffle lehenga with the most intricate bridal makeup and hairdo making her look like an angel – a Seraphim angel.
He had opted to wear a black suit to complement Prisha's look. He pinned his hair with a hairband to give him a more rugged look.
After they were seated, Sameer came forward and spoke in the mic expressing his heart felt message to the bride and groom.
"Sanal, you have come a long way trying to prove yourself to me, to your mother, your family and even yourself. I have seen your struggle for the past few months and seen a drastic change in you. I didn't know the reason then. But now when I see you happier, more calm and even so much in love. I can guess that the person who is responsible for this is none other my dear daughter-in-law, Prisha,"
Sanal looked at his Prisha lovingly and kissed her hand which he had not left from the time they had entered the hall.
"Prisha, my child. You have managed to make us see a different side of our Sanal. Please be with him forever, as his strength, his smile and his shield. As he would be for you. *inhales deeply* welcome to the family, Prisha Menon,"
Prisha mouthed a 'thank you, Appa' to Sameer who nodded his head to her holding back his tears.
"So, you are officially Mrs. Menon, now. Hm..." Sanal teased her shying self who shaked her head hiding her blushing face from him.
Just then Prisha signalled one person who was feeling the jitters in his limbs for performing in front of his family for the first time. But he saw his Prisha Chech smile at him which gave him the strength and confidence that he needed.
So, he took his guitar and sat on the chair that was placed in the centre of the stage. He prepared himself to play the song that his Prisha Chech had praised him for. She told him that it was his masterpiece.
Sanal looked at Prisha who had tears forming in her almond eyes looking proudly at his younger brother, Rajeev.
Rajeev looked back and smiled at his Prisha Chech who nodded him to begin.

(Kindly imagine Rajeev performing the above song)
After finishing the song, Rajeev was not able to look up to face anyone. He just kept his face down with tears flowing from his eyes at the thought of shock and disapproval from his family.
He felt some soft hands cup his face and lifted it up pecking softly on his forehead.
"Mom," Rajeev opened his eyes to see his mother smiling with happy tears in her eyes. Vinay hugged his son who was his pride and was happy that he was able to come out of his shell, finally.
And Vinay knew the exact person who would have helped him in his process. Each and every family members then poured their appreciation and shared their happy thoughts for their Rajeev who was beaming with joy at his big success.
The new couple were thanking the guests who had started to pour in to congratulate them. Sharanya was helping her daughter get introduced to the family from the village along with her bestie, Jyothi.
Jyothi then excused herself to talk to the person on the phone and moved towards the patio, where she could get the clear signal.
Sanal was feeling stiff, from sitting at one position for a long time and wanted to stretch his limbs.
"Sunshine, I will just come,"
"Where are you going? Do you want me to come with you? Are you ok?"
"...I just wanted to stretch. That's all. You be here. I will come in ten minutes. Hm?"
Sanal then went to the backside patio where it was slightly dark coz of the moonless night. He stretched his limbs and cracked his neck to release the pain.
After almost an hour
Sanal came back to his seat with an enraged look. Prisha watched him and went near him asking him the reason.
He looked at her clenching his jaw and tried to bring back his normal stance.
"Nothing," he replied gritting his teeth and avoiding her touch.
"Do you want some juice, perhaps?"
"No," he looked her up and down speaking rather rudely to her. Wherein Prisha was only worried about her Sanal and his wellbeing.
Prisha tried to touch his forehead to check his temperature. He tried to move his head but Prisha had already caressed his forehead.
He then told her that he would relax if the function would just get over.
"Don't worry. I think it's almost over. We can go directly to our house after this. hm? I will massage your head. Then you will feel better. Ok?" Prisha told him lovingly caressing his arms softly.
Sanal nodded his head at her words and looked straight with a scrunched look.
Menon residence
Latha was waiting at the doorstep to welcome the new bride with an oil lit lamp as a tradition.
After sometime, the bride and groom reached the house. Sanal came out first and looked at his mom who was smiling from ear to ear. He looked back at his bride who was waiting for him. He thought to take her with him to avoid suspicion. Prisha held his hands smilingly. Both of them went towards the house entrance.
Trishna and Soumya was standing beside Latha to welcome the bride.
Latha handed the oil lit lamp in Prisha's hand and guided her inside the house. Sanal and the other members followed them inside.
Sanal and Prisha were taken towards the Puja room of the house to take their blessings for the start of their new life.
Prisha closed her eyes and murmured a thank you to the deity for the start of a new life for her and her love which were only audible to Sanal as he was the only one standing too close to her.
Sanal raised his hand cupping them together and prayed to the Almighty to take the revenge on the foul play which was played on him and his family.
After that, the family members started attending to the other guests who had accompanied the bride and groom.
Trishna and Benisha took Prisha to Sanal's room so that she can refresh. Prisha wanted to change into something simple and get out of the heavy lehenga that was itching her body.
It was almost night time when all the guest left the house.
Sanal's room
Sanal's room was decorated entirely according to Prisha's taste as he wanted to surprise her.
Prisha was sitting on the edge of the bed and roamed her eyes over the beauty of her room.
After some minutes.
Sanal walked in his room to see Prisha looking outside the window.
He clenched his jaw remembering the conversation that he had heard in the reception hall.
He saw that Prisha was trying to open the window to which he spoke
"The room is sound proof. So, you need to open the window with this," saying in a cold voice, Sanal carried the remote to her who was looking down blushing.
Sanal scoffed at her fake gestures and thought 'what an act!'
He cleared his throat making her look up to him with her almond eyes. Sanal used to lose himself in her eyes but
"You mean to say this was planned?"
"Shhh.... lower your voice!"
He bought back his thoughts and looked sideways getting his anger building up.
He then fake smiled at her and cupped her face saying
"You are happy right, hm?!"
Prisha looked down nodding. He smirked at her and started to move forward, grabbing her waist making her walk backwards slowly towards the bed.
"I have got the most loving family because of you. *chuckle* a house I can call my home. A mother who is my Amma now. Dad – my Appa and Soumya – my sister," she teared up at her own words.
"*scoff* what about me? Are you forgetting me, huh? Babes?" Sanal asked her making her move along with him, slowly gripping her waist tighter, tighter. He removed her heavy earrings and soothed her earlobes. She felt good at his soft touches who fake smiled at her. He bought back his hands on her soft cheeks caressing it, moving his eyes over her tranquil face.
"How could I forget you? You are the reason for my happiness. My strength, my respect...my love," Prisha caught hold of his hands cupping her face, looking lovingly at him pouring in her love for him.
Sanal teared up at her last statement and cussed internally. But he maintained his anger towards her who...
"You mean to say this was planned?"
"Then, what about your duty?! Towards me...hm? Your husband," Sanal brushed her lips with his thumbs making her smile.
She put her arms around his shoulders looking straight in his eyes and said "You are my reason for knowing love. I could never forget you or my duties towards you, Sunny,"
Sanal lightly grinned at her words and gave a questionable look to her. He tilted his head, giving his infamous half-smile.
He slightly pushed her making her fall freely on the soft bed, shocking her. Her body bounced slightly at the fall making her hurt her lower back a little.
