Chapter 34. The wedding of the season!
"What!! You missed again! You idiots! Keep the phone, you useless piece of shits!" a 30-year-old man was huffing at his failure to capture her. He pushed the chair and smashed the flower vase kept on the table cussing at his bad luck. He started destroying his office with all his might trying to exert his anger.
"Rupal, what are you doing?!! Leave it! I say leave it!" His mother Jyothi Rangaswamy managed to release the laptop from his hands which were covered in blood with the impact.
"Mom! why? Why we are not able to succeed? Tell me, mom!" The man grabbed his mother's shoulder who caressed his hair smilingly.
"Patience my child! Patience! We will! They just need a distraction and then...we kill!" The mother glared at nowhere remembering the brutal manner her husband was murdered by the one man she despised – Pradeep Varma.
The son hugged his mother promising to fulfil her wish till his last breath.
The pre wedding night
The Varma residence
Benisha danced to the beat of the music being played by the DJ and teased Prisha who was busy putting henna in her hand. Gaurav was moving along with his lady love to match her moves.
Sharanya watched the triplets as she lovingly calls them. Prisha was giggling and trying to control herself from falling off the couch at the weird dancing that her besties were pulling.
The whole house was booming with the laughter of the family and friends of the Varma's.
The Menon Residence
Sanal was vibing with his cousins and Dino who was jumping at the drop of every music beats that the DJ was pulling.
Latha was happily chatting with the family and friends who had come to share her happiness.
Sonia was helping Trishna who was trying to have some quiet time with her fiancé who had joined her for the pre wedding celebrations. But alas she got trapped in the chores given by her mom who was glaring at her.
Namith was laughing at the antics pulled by his fiancé who was whining to get out of her mom's clutches.
Second floor room
Both the families had kept some rooms vacant in their respective houses for their families. As many a times, they would spend the night or even days with each other for fun and parties.
Veena came out of the washroom drying her face as she felt light headed after the intense crying that she had suffered for the past hour.
She kept the kit on the bedside table and looked at the view outside second-floor room window.
She went to the balcony and stood near the railings. She looked down and saw her family and friends frolicky at the celebrations of a new life for their son.
She touched her tummy and whimpered at the result that she got from the kit. She held the railings of the balcony grills remembering the mistake that they had done which couldn't be rectified even if she tried.
Her hold on the railings tightened and she looked up the sky murmuring 'why' crying inaudibly.
She then backed from the grills shaking her head slowly and slumped on her bed crying on the pillow badly.
She opted to stay in her room till the wedding as she didn't want her family to suspect her odd behaviour.
The next day
Sanal had put on his traditional wear and waiting for his friend to join him for his big day.
Dino came jogging to the car checking the camera and trying to adjust its settings.
"Dude, can you get in fast. We are going to miss the muhurattam!" Sanal shouted at his friend who was taking his own sweet time.
Dino smirked at him and said teasingly "Someone is in a hurry to get married, hm?!!!"
"Uncle! Do come. We were waiting for you!" Sanal looked back and called out waving his hands.
Dino widened his eyes and kept silent at the mention of Vinay.
Sanal snickered at his facial stillness and laughed his head off.
Wedding hall
At the mandapa
Sharanya was instructing Gaurav to check on Prisha as the time of the groom's arrival was nearing. She then moved to the mandapa to check the arrangements, along with her bestie, Jyothi.
The Menon family arrived at the mansion and were received by the Varma family.
Previn washed the feet of Sanal as a sign to welcome him into the family. Sanal then gave the traditional Kasavu saree to his mom-in-law, Sharanya which would be adorned by Prisha for the wedding ceremony.
The dressing room
"Ishu, I think you should wear this one too. It matches the set so beautifully!" Benisha told her bestie who was just adoring herself in the mirror.
Prisha smiled and thought how her Sanal would react after seeing her.
"My! My! Someone is looking pretty today! Are you planning to slay my friend, hm?" Prisha looked at the owner of the voice and tensed.
Amritha jogged to her and hugged her shocking self. She cupped Prisha's face and kissed her forehead.
"Thank you so much, Prisha! I so grateful to you to enter my friend's life! He deserves you!" Amritha slightly cried at her own words to which Prisha tried to wipe her tears.
Prisha asked her as to why she was thanking her and sad about Sanal.
It was then Amritha told her the actuality of her and the love that Sanal had carried for her from childhood.
Amritha even told her that Sanal was just a friend to her and nothing else. She was in love with only Shyam – her true love.
Prisha felt bad for her and hugged her saying
"Don't worry. Your friend is in my hands now. And I will give him all my care, respect and above all my endless love,"
Amritha was rest assured that she had found the perfect woman for her friend.
Just then the nadaswaram started playing indicating the arrival of the bride onto the mandapa. The Menon and Nair families stared at the people coming towards the mandapa noticing only their favourite person – Prisha.
Benisha was smiling from ear to ear holding the shoulders of her bestie leading her to the seat beside her Sanal. She made her sit comfortably in the seat and stood behind her to assist her.
Sanal gazed at his Prisha who seems to have gone more beautiful than the last time he saw her. He couldn't hear any of the words which were told to him by his cousins or any other family members.
Prisha then side eyed him and smiled shyly making him release a deep sigh. Sanal went a little closer to her whispering "Are you planning to kill me?!"
Prisha looked stunned at him making him wink at her. The family managed to make the young lovers listen to them and be attentive to the rituals.
The high priest was narrating the holy chants doing the wedding rituals, in between instructing Sanal and Prisha to follow certain gestures as his.
After spelling the holy mantras, he instructed them to go around the Veli three times and then Sanal would tie the Thaali(yellow necklace) around the bride's neck.
The bride's father would hand over his daughter's hand in the hands of the groom signifying the handing of the responsibilities of his daughter over to him.
Mr. Varma was teary eyed when performing this crucial ritual making even Sanal tensed. He slowly snaked his hand above the hand of Mr. Varma's nodding that his daughter is safe with him. Mr. Varma was happy and content at his small but sweet gesture.
Everyone became emotional at the sight, Sameer patted Sanal's back with adoration.
Sanal and Prisha were now seated as such that Sanal would face Prisha and their foreheads would touch.
Sanal was smirking at her who was trying her best to avoid his flirtatious gaze. But ultimately she failed and looked at him who whispered biting his lower lips "Hm...you should not put so much of makeup. It is hiding your...true self,"
"But it is my wedding and I need to look beautiful. Don't I?!!" Prisha argued at his senseless words. she whispered back to him with an angry pout encouraging him more.
"*Tsk* you don't need them, babe. Your bare face is enough to make me lose control!" Sanal teased her to get her apt reaction.
Prisha widened her eyes at his blunt remarks and moved her eyes away from his. Sanal scoffed at her shyness and watched how her cheeks were turning beet red.
