After the events of the previous chapter, Izumi was taken to the hospital with Kiara, Louis, and Legoshi right behind her. They stayed with her the entire time as they filled the doctor in on what exactly happened. They had to make somethings becasue they did not know what exactly happened and only Izumi could tell them. While Izumi was being fixed up, her mother, Dr. Selene Akahosi, was doing her rounds in the same hospital. She overhears another doctor talking about a female hybrid dog coming in for a twisted ankle. She dropped everything and quickly rushed to that room to see her daughter.

~Izumi's p.o.v~

I woke up to the sound of a steady beeping as my eyes opened slowly. My eyes went directly to my foot as I see it was wrapped up in a small cast. I sat up and looked around to see Louis, Legoshi, and Kiara around my bed as Kiara hugged me tightly with tears in her eyes.

"Oh Izumi! Thank god you're okay! I was so worried about you!" I heard her say between sobs.

I hugged her back and apologized for scaring her like that. I looked up at Louis and Legoshi as they watched us.

"The doctor said you'll have to use crutches until your ankle is fully healed, Izumi. He was asking how did something like that happen to where it was broken the way it was?" Louis asked as he looked at me.

I couldn't risk telling them because they might go after Riz.. I know I shouldn't be protecting him, but I didn't want him to get sent away.. Maybe what he did was an accident..

I looked over to Legoshi as he gently hugged me after Kiara pulled away. I held onto him for a moment as I calmed down.

"Izumi, please tell us what exactly happened?"

I looked at the tall wolf and was about to speak until I heard the door burst open.

"MY BABY!"

~Selene's p.o.v~

I was just finishing up another round of check ins with my patients until my ears caught something that I never thought I would hear in my life.

"Yes. Dr. Akahosi's daughter, Izumi, was just brought in. Her ankle is severely broken along with a few scratches and cuts." A doctor said to the nurse as he writes the report.

I dropped everything and went straight to him. I grabbed him by his coat and made him look at me.

"D-Dr. Akahosi!"

"Where is my daughter, Jason?" I looked at him with fear but anger in my eyes.

"R-Room 214." He stutters and gives me the file before I thanked him and ran to her room.

As I rushed there, I looked at her x-ray and was shocked to see that he was not kidding that her bone was broken is several different places.

"How did even happen? This is the most severe injury Izumi has ever had!", I said to myself as I finally made it to her room.

I busted into her room with the file tucked under my arm.

"MY BABY!", I screamed as I rushed over to her and hugged her tightly with tears coming down my face.

"How did this even happen!?" I asked her as I cupped her face in my hands.

"I-I went out to get some air and look at the constellations, mom... You know this season is the perfect time to look." My daughter said as I looked over to the other three students that were in the room.

I immediately recognized Kiara because she is Izumi's roommate, but I did not know who the other two were.

"Who are these two?" I looked at the wolf and deer skeptically.

"Hello, Dr. Akahosi. My name is Louis and I'm the student representative for Cherryton Academy." The deer says as he walks up to me and shakes my hand.

"Um hello. My name is Legoshi and I'm a friend of your daughter's." The gray wolf says as he shakes my other hand.

I turn my attention to Louis. "You are the class rep? Good. I want you to get your headmaster for a meeting tomorrow! My husband and I want to have a long discussion with him."

"Mom, please its o-!"

"No Izumi is it not okay! You got injured and the headmaster promised that you would be looked after! If this is how Cherryton treats their students, then I do not want you going here anymore!" I looked at my daughter as I see her eyes get wide.

"Y-You don't mean that..."

"Yep! I will have you transferred out of Cherrytron and send you to your sister's school that she went to!" I spoke in a serious tone before I walked towards the door. I stopped and looked back at my daughter.

"I am doing this for your protection, Izumi... If something else happened to you and the outcome was worse, I would never forgive myself... Please understand what I am doing.." I said before leaving the room.

I could hear my daughter start to cry. I didn't want to do this, but I have to think about her safety. I took out my phone and called my husband to tell him what has happened.

~Meanwhile...~

~Riz's p.o.v~

I made it back to my dorm room and saw that my roommate was still asleep. I quickly went our private bathroom to splashes water on my face to wash out dust and gravel that Izumi threw at me.

My mind plays back to how afraid she looked when my urges had finally gotten loose. I can't believe I did that to her...

Once I was finished, I took one of my pills which was in a stronger dose. I was glad it was stronger, but I know that my real pain was from how I hurt my puppy.  I laid in my bed and closed my curtain as I thought about the promise...

~Flashback....~

~Riz's p.o.v~

I held Izumi close to me and looked at her. She looked so beautiful and happy with her present. I slowly leaned into her since I had her in my arms.

I knew that our relationship grew over the time we've spent together and I wanted our relationship to become more.

I opened my eyes and pulled away as I see her blushing.

"Why'd you stop?"

"I-I wasn't thinking clearly, Zumi... I don't want to rush you into anything that you aren't ready for.."

She gently cupped my cheek as I nuzzled into it with a smile.

"Its okay.. I understand, Riz.", she said to me softly.

I set her down and got on one knee while holding her hands.

"Izumi I swear on my very life that I will protect you with all my might... I won't let anything happen to you."

I looked up to see her smiling then kneels down while holding my hand.

"I promise to protect you too.. Even though I'm smaller than you and can't do as much as you can, but I will try. " She said while giggling before hugging me again...

~Back to Present....~

~Riz's p.o.v~

Tears down my face as I clutched my head. That memory hurt the most because it was the day where I swore to her that I wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt her.

I groaned in pain as the side effects of the pill started to manifest. I got out of my bed and went to get some honey.

Once I had gotten it, I started to take a drink. I couldn't even drink it because seeing how scared Izumi was of me made my pain even more... Not even honey could help me get rid of it...

~Next Morning..~

~Izumi's p.o.v~

I woke up to the sound of soft snores and something cold by my hand. I look over to see Legoshi's head resting by my hand. I could feel the air from his nose hit my hand.  I give a silent giggle as he slowly woke up.

I watched him give a soft yawn as he stood up and stretched.

"Mmm what time is it?" He said as he looked at the clock above the door.

"It's almost 9 am.." I said softly as he looked back at me.

"How do you feel?"

"I'm okay... Thank you for saving me last night..." I glanced over to him.

"I'm always going to protect you, Izumi.. No matter what.."

Those words... Just like her said all those years ago..

I heard someone clear their throat as I looked over towards the door. My blood ran cold when I saw who it was.

"H-Hi, Zumi..", Riz said as he walked in with yellow roses.

~Flashback...~

~No One's p.o.v~

Riz, Izumi, and Tem were having a movie marathon at Riz's place. There was junkfood of all kind scattered around them as they watched the film. Little Izumi had passed out during the 7th nd was now leaning against Tem.

~Tem's p.o.v~

I smiled and stroked her head as Riz put a blanket on her. I looked at the grizzly and smiled as he smiled back.

"She made it through 6 movies and had a lot of sugar." I chuckled and looks at her.

"Yeah she probably just crashed from her sugar high. She'll be okay though. We both know she will be.", Riz said as he rubbed her back.

There was a silence only sound was the movie playing in the background.

"Riz..." I started, "Do you like Izumi?" I looked over to the bear a he looked at me in surprise.

"Y-Yes I do.." He said while blushing  bit.

I smiled, knowing I was right about that.

"Does he know about your pills?"

"....No she doesn't.."

I looked at him in shock. "Riz, you've known Izumi for a long time.. You should tell her about those before it's too late!" I whispered/yelled at him as he hung his head in shame.

"I-I will.. I'm just scared she'll stop being my friend."

"Don't think that way, Riz... You can't hide this from her forever.. You need to be honesta and tell her."

"When the time is right, I promise I will tell her." He looked at me thenback at our friend who was still asleep.

"I hope so..."

~Back to Present...~

~Izumi's p.o.v~

Yellow roses... A sign of happiness and forgiveness...

I didn't noticed how he and Legoshi were glaring, but acted as if nothing was wrong.

"I heard about what happened and I brought you some roses.. You always said yellow roses were you favorite..."

"Thank you, Riz.. They're beautiful.." I said softly.

"They're very beautiful, Riz.. Allow me to put these in water, Izumi." Legoshi picks up the flowers and leaves the room while closing the door.

Once he was gone, I saw Riz walk up to me. I scrambled back on my hospital bed as I looked at him in fear.

I see him stop as he pulls up a chair to sit down in.

"Izumi... I'm so sorry for last night.. It was never my intention to hurt or scare you like that."

"Why did you let it happen?"

~Riz's p.o.v~

"Why did you let it happen?"

I looked up at her and sighed before pulling out the box of pills then placed it in her hands for her to see.

"I have to take these pills which were ordered by the doctor and government... All Bear have to take these to keep ourselves in control... Or we'll go crazy.."

I looked down as I see her look at the pills.

"I ran out last night and I needed a stronger dosage because the last ones didn't work as well... I was on my way to get more then I saw you..."

~Flashback...~

~Izumi's p.o.v~

"It should be on my shelf next to my books, Zumi!" I heard Riz call out to me as I went into his room.

We were doing a science experiment because we were bored and because we were watching Youtube.

I looked around in room for the item we needed  until I spotted it. I picked it up and turned to leave his room, but stopped when I saw a box with his name on it.

I walked over and picked it up and read the label.

"Limits the strength of bears over 2 meters (200 centimeters) tall... Take one pill every night.."

Why would Riz need these anyway?

"Did you find it, Zumi? If you didn't, I can come help!"

"No it's okay, Riz. I found it! I was just looking at some pictures you had up in your room!" I lied while putting the box back down.

"Oh okay! Well hurry back so we can finish up!"

I looked at the pills one more time before leaving his room.

~Back to Present...~

~Izumi's p.o.v~

"That is what those are for... To keep you in check.." I looked at him as he looked shocked.

"Y-You knew about these?" He asked in surprise.

"I found them when you asked me to go get that item we needed for our experiment... I didn't know what they were for and I wondered why did you need them... Then I realized they are to help keep you in control... "

"Yes they are to help me with my urges... I'm so sorry Izumi... Please forgive me.."

"Riz, I can't forgive you that quick after what you did... You tried to eat me.." I said in a whisper.

"You don't have to right away... Just let me earn your apology, respect and friendship back.. Please..."

I give a soft sigh as I feel him gently take both of my hands into his bigger one.

"Okay Riz...I will try to forgive you."

"Thank you Izumi.." He said as he hugs me gently.

I hear someone's throat clear as Riz pulled away as I see Legoshi.

~Legoshi's p.o.v~

I walked back with the roses in the vase as I hummed softly.

"I'll make sure to get some yellow flowers for Izumi now I know she likes these." I said softly as I arrived back to her room. I looked through the little window on the door and what I saw made my blood boil.

I saw Riz hugging my Izumi....

I could feel myself growling softly as my fur started to stand up.

I quietly walked into the room and cleared my throat.

"I'm sorry for that long wait, Izumi... I couldn't find a nice vase for these roses." I said as I placed them down by her.

"It's okay Legoshi...It's very beautiful though.. Thank you." She smiled at me which made me smile and my tail wag.

~Legoshi's p.o.v~

I come back and find him hugging my Izumi! I wanted nothing more than to pull him awaya and rip him to shreds right then and there! I can't because it seems that he and Izumi have a good relationship.... I will make sure he keeps his paws off what's mine no matter what...

~Back to our regularly scheduled program!~

~Mini Timeskip....~

~Izumi's p.o.v~

I was back on campus in my room, but I had to go the Headmaster's office with my parents earlier. He gave his deepest apologies to us about what happened. My father, bless his heart, tried everything he could to keep my mom from jumping over the desk and killing the headmaster.

The headmaster agreed to look into this matter, but for now he had assigned someone to help me carry my things to and from classes because I have to walk on crutches

I finished putting my uniform on as I heard a knock on my door.

"You can come in." I called out as I hear it open.

I was too busy with my shoes to see who it was.

"Let me help you, Zumi.", the voice said, but I already knew who it was.

I looked up to see Riz who was smiling.

"You're my helper?"

"Yep! Since our schedules are the same, the Headmaster asked me to do it." He smiled and helped me sit down as he helps me with my shoes.

Once he was done, he helps me stand and get my crutches for me.

"Shall we head to class?" He said as he picked up my bag and books.

I nodded before walking out of my room with him closing and locking the door.

This is going to be a long day....

~Later....~

~Riz's p.o.v~

I carried my tray and Izumi's as we go to sit outside to eat. I noticed how shes been so quiet and I can understand why. She was still upset with me, but I'm working on her forgiving me.

We arrive by the tree and sit down on the grass as I placed everything down then helps Izumi.

"Thank you.", she said softly.

I nodded and placed her tray in her lap as I did the same for myself.

"Remember when we would plan a picnic under the willow tree, but one day we were out there and it started to rain?"

"Yeah. we got soaked, but you were soaked the most since you used yourself to shield me from the rain." She said as she looked at me.

What she said was true because after that, we caught a taxi and went back to my place. We got into some dry clothes, I had to give her one of my shirts to wear which I didn't mind, and we ate the food we packed.

I smiled at that memory then my nose caught the scent of something sweet. I looked down to see a treat Izumi would always make for us.

"Honeycake?" She said as she offered the box to me.

Ahh yes.. Izumi's honey cakes... One of my most favorite treats that she makes..

"Thank you." I take one put of the box and happily ate it. I felt tears in my eyes as I remembered the last time I had one of these.

~Meanwhile....~

~Legoshi's p.o.v~

I was watching the two and I gripped my fork so hard, it had bent.

"Legoshi, are you okay?", Jack asked me with worry in his voice.

"Yes I am why..." I looked at my friends.

"You gripped your spoon so hard, you bent it." Collot pointed out as I looked at the spoon.

They were not kidding. My spoon was bent downward and it looks like it could just break off.

"I'm fine. Just worried about an upcoming test.", I lied as they nodded to me.

They would not understand what I am going through...

~Later the Night....~

~Legoshi's p.o.v~

I was walking to Izumi's dorm room to check on her plus talk to her. I was hoping she hadn't fallen asleep yet or I would have to wait until tomorrow.

I arrived andknocked on her door and waited for a response.

"Izumi? It's Legoshi, may I come?"

"Yeah come on in!" I hear her say as I walked in.

I blushed when I saw her. She was wearing an oversized jersery with fuzzy socks. She still had on her collar which made me smile.

"I came to check on you and see how you are doing." I took my shoes off before walking over to her.

"I'm good. I'm doing homework before I start watching this movie." She gestured to her tv with a smile.

"Would you like some help because I--!"

"Hey Zumi, I'm back! They didn't have the pocky flavor that you wanted so I got you a different flavor instead. I ho- Oh hey Legoshi." I turned to see Riz in the doorway.

I looked back to Izumi as I saw Riz's bag next to her bed.

"We have the same classes, so decided to do some homework together. He went to great treat and dinner before we started to movie. You should stay and join us, Legoshi." I hear Izumi say with a smile.

I could tell Riz was angry, but he didn't show.

"Are you sure? Because I don't want to be a burden."I confessed as I looked over to Riz.

"Nonsense, Legoshi. If Izumi wants you to stay then please stay. I insist." I heard Riz say, but I could tell he was holding back growls.

I smiled and sat down next to the spotted canine as Riz joined us.

~Few Hours Later...~

~No One's p.o.v~

After homework and a few movies, Izumi had fallen asleep. Legoshi picked her up and carried her to bed while Riz cleaned up. Legoshi laid her in bed while being careful of her cast and Riz put all her homework in her bag and her books on the table.

Once they finished, they wrote her a note in case she woke up. Before they left, the each placed a small kiss on her head before leaving her room.

They soon left her dormitory and went their separate ways,but they stopped to look back at each other.

"Good night, Legoshi." Riz said to the wolf.

"Good night, Riz.", Legoshi said to the bear before heading to this room as Riz did the same.

~Inside Legoshi and Riz's heads~

I'm not going to let that wolf/bear take my puppy from me.... You want a battle Legoshi/Riz.. I'll give you a war...

Wow! What a chapter! Izumi gets a bad injury and her parents. mainly her mother, want to take her out of Cherryton! Next, Riz finally comes to faceIzumi as she tell him that she already knew about the pills and he's working on fixing their once close bond. Legoshi and Riz are about to have an all out brawl for this sweet canine hybrid... What's going to happen next? Find out next time!!
