(91) It was Always You [2]
TheGreenVigilante requested I did a 2nd part to It was Always You. It starts off kinda the same but its different and I didn't want to just edit the old part. AND HOLY HELL WE'RE FAST APPROACHING 31K READS, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Starting from the beginning although Jack wouldn't admit it, his relationship never felt right. He had noticed that since he got into this relationship Mark and him didn't seem to talk much. Perhaps he was oblivious but Mark was hurting; They had been so close and the red headed man thought he stood a chance he had been foolish. Yet Jack couldn't ignore the odd feeling in his stomach around Signe and the lack of electricity. When he had first met Mark they shook hands and it felt like lighting had struck him and his stomach twist and turned in the best way. With Signe there was attraction and laughter but alas it wasn't the same. Jack felt guilty he shouldn't have ignored his feelings, he was selfish; hurting anothers feelings because he couldn't handle his own. He could continue this way so that no one would get hurt, that was until Mark showed up in his dreams.
Woke up sweating from a dream, With a different kind of feeling.
Jack woke up, startled. He didn't remember even going to bed but here he was next to his sleeping girlfriend she looked tranquil, happy. It made Jack feel worse. He had a strange dream about Mark; which left his heart racing. It was so real the butterflies the smiles it didn't feel forced it just flowed.
With a different kind of feeling, oh
All day long my heart was beating
Searching for the meaning, oh
Hazel eyes, I was so color blind
We were just wasting time, uh uh babe
For my whole life, we never crossed the line
Only friends in my mind, but now I realize.
They had ran away together, living in an old run down hotel, somewhere in the outskirts of America. Jack had left Signe, after Mark confessed his love for Jack that was all it took, for Mark to say "I love you." and Jack would run. Of course, that was all dream. Perhaps he was in denial still. Jack looked over to a sleeping Signe, getting up quietly he didn't want to wake her he just wanted to deal with these feelings on his own. He hadn't had dreams about Mark before and didn't know what this meant. Jack sat looking out the window as rain poured. He scrolled through Marks Twitter, He found himself smiling at his goofy tweets.
Jack landed on a photo of Mark with his recently dyed red locks, he smiled noticing how his eyes sparkled in the photo.
It was always you.
Can't believe I could not see it all this time
All this time
It was always you
Now I know why my heart wasn't satisfied
Satisfied.
Jack then realized how happy he was around Mark and how his stomach tied in knots when he saw him at conventions being goofy upon a stage looking through the crowd of smiling people Jacks standing out the most. He made him feel weak at the knees. Something Signe never did. He sat thinking over a steaming cup of coffee. Had he really been this blind? To crawl into bed with another; whisper non whole-heartedly I love yous?
Everything hit Jack at once, He wasn't in love with Signe, He was in love with Mark. It was always Mark, he just denied it until now. Because of that stupid dream that felt real he was about to admit everything, be honest with his girlfriend and apologies he had to get rid of this burden and guilt; he didn't want to hurt Signe.
He sent Mark a text message, forgetting Signe whom was still asleep.
He typed with shaking hands.
Jack: "It Was Always You."
It was always you, you
No more guessing who
Looking back now I know it was always you
Always you
The ding on Marks phone had startled him, it was the afternoon and he was editing some videos.
A text from Jack a rather rare occurrence not that Jack didn't want to text him it's just different time zones and schedules made it tough. But when they did speak, they spoke about anything and everything until one of them would fall asleep, phone in hands. He had suppressed his feelings since Jack got a girlfriend, choosing not to interfere with his relationship. He wanted Jack to be happy even if that meant hiding his heart.
This text was different though out of blue. It made Marks heart jump out of his chest.
"It was always you." What did that even mean? Maybe it wasn't Jack texting him now.
Mark; What?
All my hidden desires
Finally came alive, hmm
No, I never told lies
To you so why would I
Start tonight.
Jack: I'm so in love with you.
Honesty is the best policy, after all Jack didn't want to pussy-foot around it; not anymore.
Mark nearly dropped his phone but managed to barely grasp it. No, this couldn't be Jack.
He dialed numbers and the ringing seemed louder, it seemed too long until there was finally an Irish drole at the end of the line.
Jack was clearly upset.
"I had this dream and you... and me. I denied it for so long, hurt people. If you dont feel the same I get it- I pushed you away as well as my feelings.. I'll fix this." Then the line went dead before Mark had a chance to say anything at all.
Jack then woke his sleeping girlfriend and she was shocked to see his puffy eyes this early. "Are you okay?"
"No." Mumbled Jack.
"I'm sorry. I can't do this anymore Signe, I have too many feelings. I'm confused." He said, his accent thicker as he hung his head.
"Okay." She breathed, nodding.
"Do what you need too. I support you; regardless if we are together or not." He seemed to collapse in her arms and thank her, frantically apologizing.
Maybe he could fix things after all.
Jack ran into open, accepting arms nearly knocking the American off his feet. His legs were like jelly from the flight and from nervousness. He faced everything now he couldn't deny anything anymore he had spent his life doing that. Jack starred up into the hazel eyes he loved and adored so much those irises that said so much, resembling the same love Jack had in his baby-blues.
Hazel eyes, I was so color blind
We were just wasting time, uh uh babe
For my whole life, we never crossed the line
Only friends in my mind, but now I realize
It was always you.
