(132) Set up, Again.
Request from AlanloveEric111, whom requested a set up scenario but with Bob and Wade too! I took a different approach to this one yet its also similar to one shot 98 in some ways, I hope its not repetitive! Also, We are so close to 100K and Ive been prepping but I'm still not finished due to university preparation (which is literally kicking my ass) but Ill get there and on time I hope! Thanks for all the support throughout, love you guys :)
They're all round for dinner, the dimly lit booth creating a relaxed atmosphere. Jacks sat next to Bob, with Mark and Wade on the opposite side. Jacks in a reminiscing mood, he feels tranquil being here in America and oddly at ease. The past few times hes been here hes been worrying if the videos went up okay and just worrying about his work - he enjoys the break sure, but that doesn't mean he doesn't feel bad for being here and not being productive.
Hes also never felt like he belonged here with these wonderful people around the table but he does here; His first trip he was just the Irish loudmouth kid and now hes a somebody among somebody's. Mark put him at ease the moment he arrived just like he did this time too, and hes gazing at him as he talks to Wade about something Jack doesn't hear.
He admires all of these people, and its evident in his eyes.
Jack isn't one to experience jealousy; hes more about empowering people but he cant deny the little prang of something when Mark starts making eyes at the waitress, he fidgets in his seat and tries to shake the feeling - Bob shoots him an odd look and he just shakes his head, Mark is a single man its his choice who he wants to make 'eyes' at.
Maybe Jack just wishes it was him though, but suppresses it these feelings are pointless.
;
But its like an itch, that he refuses to scratch -- and it gets worse; Jack will deny it until hes blue in the face, though. They're at a bar all together, Mark sat next to him on his right, Bob and Wade on his left. Marks feet are dangling off the bar stool, Jack notices and it makes him smile slightly. Hes sat drinking his rather underwhelming Guinness (because lets face it, if he wanted a real pint he knows he'd get one back home.) And maybe he tightens his grip on the glasses as Mark flirts with the bartender, his fingers flex against the class and perhaps its the alcohol speaking but he has the urge just to chuck the pint over the girls head or Marks for that matter because what is he playing at- Wade snaps him out of his thoughts with a light hearted;
"If you grip that glass any tighter its gonna break, Jack."
Wades right and Jack lets go of the glass, breathing a sigh and trying to clear his clouded thoughts and decides that before he does something stupid - hes going to bed. Sliding from the stool he wishes the lads goodnight and stumbles back to the hotel; hes not drunk, just a bit tipsy and light on his feet.
Come on, Jack - Get your shit together, stop pining. He thinks as he falls into bed.
;
A faded knock on his door echos through his hotel room and he swears whoever's knocking is also knocking on his head. Blue eyes open to the world and the blinding light with a groan as he gets up, careful not to lose his balance as he carries himself to the door.
The door swings open to the man that's the cause of all his trouble that doesn't even know, hazel eyes staring warmly at him.
"Wanted to check up on ya, heard you had a bit to drink." Jack can't decide if the smile that follows the sentence is one he wants to punch off or kiss off, nonetheless he does neither.
"Yeah I'm a bit hungover but Ill be down for breakfast in a bit." It does not occur to Jack how Mark found his hotel room but he presumes it was Bob or Wade who told him, Jack thinks they know about his little crush and rolls his eyes as he goes to close the door on Marks face.
At least he has a panel with Felix in a few hours, he needs to clear his hangover before then he thinks - nothing a shit ton of coffee wont fix.
They sit round the small breakfast table, coffee cups scattered around it along with empty plates. The breakfasts here are something dreams are made of at least and Jacks probably eaten his body weight in scrabbled eggs at this point.
He sips his what, third cup of coffee? He isn't sure but either way its as good as the first. Marks mumbling about something and Jack clears his throat.
"Im surprised you haven't been flirting with the woman that took our orders, Mark." He chuckles but the sentence does have some undertoned feelings and it lingers there so much so that Bob splatters behind his cup and Wade smirks.
Mark just laughs.
"Jealous Jack?" He utters and Jack simply rolls his eyes. Yes, he is.
;
The panel with Felix is something of a delight. Everything flows smoothly, the crowd roars at their jokes and Jacks stomach hurts from laughing. He forgets how easy everything is with Felix, they click. Mark, Bob and Wade are backstage, watching the dynamic duo rule the stage.
Bob and Wade are speaking idly in the background whilst Mark crosses his arms and seems a little stand off ish as he peeks through the corner at the two.
"Are they flirting or is it just me?" Mark asks, his arms crossed.
"You can't be jealous if they are, Mark. You've been flirting with everyone you meet lately." Bob utters and the room is quiet.
"Wade told me too!" He yells suddenly then quiets again.
Bob eyes Wade who looked akin to a deer in the headlights, lowers his head slightly.
Truth was, this whole thing was a big plea for attention. Mark although he'll loathe to admit it because damn, pride is a funny thing - wants, craves Jacks attention and Wade, well Wade wants Bob to look at him with pride and happiness, not like he is now, looking like a disappointed parent.
Mark sees it here, among the dim backstage lights; and he also takes a moment to calm down.
"Nobody is to blame here." Mark states, and the atmosphere drops back to his normal non suffocating ways. Mark then goes back to watching the pair preform on stage, trying to distract himself a little.
Bob and Wade take a moment to themselves but little did Mark know they were formulating a plan.
;
The pair come back a slight smugness about them but Mark chooses to ignore it, and Wade asks if Mark can help the crew by getting some lens cleaner from the cupboard at the back of the room, and he does so.
Before he gets a chance to ask where abouts it would be, hes engulfed in darkness - the door closed behind him.
"Very funny you two, real orginial now let me out!" Bob stands guard at the small door, waiting for Wades part to come into action.
The pair have been wanting to set the two up for ages and if this is the only way to do it, then so be it.
The show is closing up, The Swede and Irishman bowing on stage to an applause. As soon as Jack steps foot backstage, Wade is coaxing him to where Bob no longer stands, and shoves the Irishman into the closet - uttering a small sorry as he does. Jack stutters slightly, a soft curse escaping his lips.
Arms catch the man and he curses at that too, then calms when he hears a familiar and deep chuckle.
"What the fuck is going on here and why is it so dark!?" Jack asks, to nobody in particular.
Wade responds.
"Its time you two put your pride aside and talked to one and other. Bob and I have seen the way you look at each other, how Jack gets antsy when Marks being an idiot and flirting with somebody and I don't know why its dark, find the light switch."
The pair don't acknowledge the rest of the sentence but try to find a light switch and although they have some awkward hand touches, the light finally flickers on in the cupboard and the pair look like two teenagers been caught in the janitors closet with a half empty bottle of stolen whiskey and making out.
Well, neither of those things are happening, but Mark still finds himself with rosy colored cheeks. (What is this, a seven minutes in heaven fic?)
They both open their mouths to say something at the same time but end up shutting, an audible click of Jack closing his mouth.
Eventually, Jack is the one to speak up.
"I like you but I thought you never liked me back or never would so I kept quiet but my emotions got the better of me every time I saw you flirting with some waitress or women behind bars." Jack utters, glancing at his feet but his shoulders feel lighter now that hes said something.
"I'm an idiot. I wanted to make you jealous so that I knew you had feelings for me and I shouldn't have. I like you, too."
Then, Jacks laughing and Mark can't help but laugh too.
They pair emerge fromt he cupboard holding hands to which Bob and Wade high five at, because about damn time.
"Now, You two have to go on a double date with us!" Mark says, the pair don't get a chance to say no after they locked him and Jack in a small cupboard.
;
Its Jacks final days in America and Mark wants to make them great, so this weekend that double date is happening.
The chose not to return to the place where Mark flirted with the waitress, but instead a petite little restaurant that's sort of out the way of things.
Bob and Wade are there as promised, they look adorable next to one and other -- Mark even swears he sees Wade brush Bobs hand with his but hey, the night is still young.
Jack is next to him, and he looks amazing, hes wearing a dark shirt with some jeans that hug him tightly and Marks helpless.
The night goes well, theres no tention or awkwardness, its good to see Bob and Wade looking at each other every now and then with such admiration in their eyes.
Wade coughs and laughs slightly before speaking up.
"Y'know, did not think we'd be set up by setting you guys up. Funny how some things work." He smiles, a genuine one as he glances Bobs way.
Mark agrees, funny how things work, as he eyes Jack; his heart full and realizing that jealousy will never be the way to someones heart; And Jack, well Jacks realized that jealousy is a burden he wont carry anymore. Hes got the hazel eyes looking at him and him only, and Jack is more than glad.
