seven; pocket

a little longer one today. also sorry if some things don't make sense, I kept accidentally slipping into first person

Scott absolutely hated how crowded this whole house seemed to be.

He normally didn't even mind parties like this one. However, he'd also be the first to say that attempting to fit half of the grade in an already small, single-story house was absolutely ridiculous. What made it even worse was that all of the booze, food, and music were in two adjacent rooms, meaning people never left the area.

Scott tried to take a step back away from the crowd, but he was quick to bump into someone else. He looked over his shoulder and yelled out an apology before groaning to himself.

He had barely been here an hour, which was nothing in the grand scheme of the night. He also was supposed to be meeting his friends here, and while he did, they had already moved on to actually enjoy the party. He didn't have any obligation to be here any longer, so he could leave whenever he wanted, right?

As he continued to debate leaving, a shorter boy with brown hair bumped into him. Scott had only caught a glimpse of his face, but he already looked familiar; maybe he had a choir class with him or something. Scott's first instinct was to shoot some comment his way, but once the guy looked over his shoulder and mouthed a 'sorry', he immediately forgave him.

And that was all the motivation Scott needed to finally make up his mind and leave the party.

He took a deep breath of the fresh air one he finally stepped foot on the lawn in front of the house. Even though there were still some people standing out here, Scott felt relieved to get away from the vast majority of them.

He glanced around at the others before his eyes landed on the brunette. Scott didn't realize that he had come outside, but he now appeared to be waiting for someone or something. After a moment or two, he looked over his shoulder and his eyes landed on Scott.

Scott couldn't be sure as to why, but suddenly the brunette turned on his heels and began walking towards him. He had a confidence in his steps that intimidated the blonde and half made him want to run back into the house. But the boy reached him before he could do anything.

"Hey," he said, his voice high and light.

"Hi."

"I already gave you my number, so can I get yours?" Scott furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.

"What?" The boy's eyes left Scott's, and flitted across his body. Suddenly, he looked back to Scott with wide eyes.

"I," he paused, reaching up and running a hand through his hair. "I slipped my number into your pocket." It was Scott's turn for his eyes to go wide as he immediately reached for the pockets on his jeans.

"Hoodie pocket," he corrected. Scott reached into that pocket, and surely enough, pulled out a small piece of paper. It read the boy's name, Mitch, and what obviously was a phone number. "God, I think I should win the award for most awkward."

"I ran into no less than 50 people. If anything, I'd win." Scott looked back up to Mitch, who now had a slight smile on his face. "And frankly, I was tired of that which is why I came out here."

"And to think I thought it was because of my note."

"I suppose that can be part of the reason too." Mitch smiled before looking down at his feet. "Are you ditching too?" Scott continued.

"I'm making an attempt. No one's answering their phone so I'll probably be stuck here for a while." Scott furrowed his eyebrows together before glancing down the street a little ways.

"I drove here," Scott mentioned then looked back to Mitch. He tilted his head to the side. "I can drive you wherever you need to go."

"Wherever?" Scott could only nod his head. "Then let's go."
