12: Uneventful Day for Two
Emily and I never left each other's side. I wasn't sure if it was just as a protection since we were in an unknown area, or if it was because neither of us knew what to do. There were a few times when someone would come up to us and ask if we needed any help. Immediately Emily would tell them we had everything under control, listening to her attempt the language alone could tell you we, did not have everything under control.
We spent an entire month planning our trip, what we were going to do, stay and anything that could possibly come up. But now that we made it, we weren't sure where to go first. It was so much to take in. Everything was so different from what we were used to. My mind began to drift to him. I couldn't help but wonder how it felt to be back after so long, did it still feel like home or was it almost like how I was feeling. Happy to be here, but overwhelmed with everything.
"Tati," Emily's voice was faded, like it was millions of miles away. "Earth to Tatiana," she said again this time it was right beside me.
"Yeah?" I asked still a bit dazed from my thoughts.
"What are you even thinking of, it better be good, sis," she said, she slowed her walk down a little to be next to me.
"It's nothing. What did you want?"
"To know why you suddenly started walking as slow as my great gramma."
"Okay, way to exaggerate," I responded. "And I know there was something else you wanted to say."
"I'm not exaggerating, you were just too busy in your own world to recognize it yourself," she replied, her voice dripped in sarcasm. "And since you know me so well, I wanted to ask where you wanted to go first."
I paused for a moment, "Where were you wanting to go?" I asked.
"Well," she said, making the word longer than it usually is. "I would love to see the Eiffel Tower, but it's up to you."
"Let's do that then, I've always wanted to see it."

We stayed near the tower the entire day, the problem about new things, is that there's so much to try and the feeling that there's not enough time. So instead of doing what you wanted or planned you end up wasting it all and have the regret of not doing more.
That's where Emily and I were at. We planned the entire trip, and we started on the right foot, but now we were starting to wonder if we left out something, or if we should wing it.
My ringtone interrupted my thoughts, I didn't bother checking the caller ID and answered it.
"Hello?"
"Tatiana, I know you're on vacation but something's come up, we need you to come in Monday."
"Isn't there anyone else who can take my place. I was approved for a week."
"I know, and if it were up to me, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I'm really sorry Tati," he said from the other line.
"It's okay, Jake. I get it, I'll take the first flight I can get in the morning," I tried to hide the disappointment, but it became consuming. But I wasn't dumb enough to believe something like this wouldn't happen.
"I'm really sorry," he tried to say, but my mind was made up, I was going to ignore anything he would say.
"Don't worry about it. I knew there was a possibility it'd be cut short. With the project coming up and all," I said, before hanging up.
"Tati, what's going on?" Emily asked with unnecessary worry spread across her face.
"Jake, called, apparently I have to come in Monday, so I have to leave tomorrow morning."
"Give me your phone, I'll give'em a piece of this girl's mind."
"And make this girl lose her job. So no. It'll be fine. I knew with the deadline for this project I'd probably have to leave early."
"Oh this the rich lady you were talking about?" she asked. "The one who wants a kazillion wedding photos?"
"Yep she came in and wanted sample photos and everything to pick the photographer. Which is smart, and I don't blame her, but since I work with incompetent people. I'm the one who has to cut her vacation short to make it to her wedding, which is Tuesday."
"Look, if you're going back, I am too. But I really think you should tell her to suck it up and pick someone else."
"Believe me, I would. But what she's paying, it would buy me two of these vacations so might as well. Plus, I have that rule, don't get fired by mouthing off, until at least six months have passed."
"Well, let's make this worthwhile. Maybe get a bite to eat."
"You're the best.'
"I already know that," she replied. "So where should we go to eat? Then we can figure out what we can fit in, for our final hours."
"Dramatic much?" I joked.
"You know it," she laughed.
"Okay, so what if we just walk into the first place we see."
"Sounds like a plan," she said, beginning to walk off. I ran a little to catch up then began to walk next to her.
Another chapter. I'm trying to finish the end of March but who knows haha. Then I'll do some serious editing. I sorta want to attempt to make a trailer for this but not sure of face claims. So if you have any suggestions feel free to let me know.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful day/night!
My messages are always open so feel free to start a conversation at any time.
