Specks of light trickle into my sleepy eyes. Lazily I lift my pounding and aching head. As I blink a few times, I realize something, I'm lying on grass. I roll my body over and use my arms to push myself up, but when I go to stand I wobble and fall over. What? I look down at my feet. Wait, feet...? Where are my feet?

I only see two fluffy white paws. I look at my hands and see paws as well.

I must be dreaming, there is no way I'm a wolf right now. Now understanding my footing better. I place my paws flat on the ground and push myself up. I get up with ease this time. I shake my body to get off the little pieces of wet grass that are sticking to me.

Then I take my first step in wolf form. Happiness sparks in me. I let out a wolffish laugh and run. That's all I do; run. The breeze slaps against my face as I pass tree by tree. It's the most amazing feeling. I feel so free, and so... me.

I come across the familiar river that smells of freshness. I slow my pace and peer into the rushing water. My reflection shines up at me and I bark in happiness. My wolf has the same markings that Gloria had in wolf form. Actually we are identical except for our eyes. Mine are a brilliant blue and hers were a blazing red. I hop over the stepping stones and gracefully land on my paws. I start to trot. Then I hear a shout in the distance.

My ears perk up and my wolf runs straight for the voice. When I get close enough I can distinguish what the voice is saying.

"Evelyn!" It yells. Only I know this voice.

I duck into a bush. I hear the footsteps of the person get closer and closer. Soon his luscious dark brown hair is shining in the light. I take a step closer and my head pops out of the bush. He heard the rustling and turns. His grey eyes begin to spot me and I duck into the bush.

Crap, he saw me! I don't know if I can look into his eyes yet. I can't know, what if we are wrong. I just can't face losing him yet.

"You!" He yells.

Oh god. I do the only thing I can think of. I run away. I hear Gavin run after me, soon I hear the thudding of four paws instead of two feet. He must have shifted. I push myself to my limits and go at my fastest pace. I weave through trees and use my small stature to try and sneak away from him. Sadly he just stays on my tail.

We get out to an open field. Great. I pump my legs faster and faster. I'm about to break into the woods again when I feel teeth grab onto my ruff. In the next second I'm tackled into the ground and a giant dark brown wolf is viciously standing above me. I whimper and close my eyes as he exposes his teeth at me.

I turn my head to the side and whimper in defeat. He growls loudly and I feel my wolf shudder. Why is he being so forceful and mean? I open my eyes and see him glaring at me. His teeth are still exposed and I look up into his eyes. They are pitch black. Then I feel a slight spark and my wolf stirs a little.

His eyes begin to lighten to his normal gray. His ears pop up and he returns his face to a calmer state, no longer exposing his teeth. He blinks a few times then he slowly changes back to his human form. His hand are on either side of my head and his hair falls lightly over his face.

"Evelyn?" He asks. I blink a few time. Of course it's me.

I nod. He looks down at my wolf. After taking a while and scanning my wolf form, he looks back at me and smiles.

"You got your wolf back." he says.

Once again I nod. He reaches his right hand out a pets the side of my face with his thumb. I close my eyes and lean into his touch. It feels so nice. He laughs.

"Shift back." He says.

I snap my eyes open and look at him nervously. Crap I don't know how to shift.

"What's wrong?" he asks.

I try to sigh.

"You don't know how to shift do you?" I shake my head and he laughs, "Think about your human self. It will all come naturally from there. Just want to be you again."

I close my eyes and do just that. I think about myself. About the times I've looked in the mirror and the times that I've spent laughing and enjoying being me. I feel my body relaxing yet moving at the same time.

I slowly open my eyes. Everything seems duller and less alive. Yeah, I'm definitely back to my human self. I look into Gavin's eyes and feel sparks.

He reaches his hand down and caresses my cheek. I smile as I feel tingles flow through my body. I shudder in delight under him. I don't know why I was so worried. He knew I was his mate this whole time. I should have trusted that more.

"You're beautiful." he says.

I giggle. "Yeah I'm sure I look beautiful after shifting from my wolf. I probably look like a scrub." I say.

He leans down and kisses me gently. "You're always beautiful Evelyn." he says. "Now, how did you get your wolf back? I thought you were Gloria." he says.

I look at him surprised. "Ariana and Seth got her back for me. You didn't know?" I ask.

"I had no idea... I didn't even know they were back." he says shocked.

"Oh... well they got her." I say with a laugh. Then I put on a curious face. "So what brings you out here mister?" I ask.

"When you didn't show up to my room again I got worried. I went to look for you around the house. After a while I decided to just stay in my room until you came back. I waited a day and you never came." A day? I was gone that long? "Then I left to go find you, but instead I found Kari freakin out. She told me you went on a walk then went missing. So I left and came out here. That's when I saw you, I thought you were Gloria, I got mad and came after her, well you but I thought you were her... I am sorry about that..."

I laugh. "It's no big deal. I'm glad to know that if I was Gloria that you would have gone after her. So in a way, thank you." I say. He laughs.

"I don't understand you. I attack you and you thank me. Who does that?" he says.

"Any normal person, duh." I say with a shrug an a roll of my eyes. He smiles and shakes his head.

"Come on let's get you back to the pack house. There are always clothes in the tree line so just sniff some out and put them on when we get there." he says. He gets off of me and I grow sad from the distance between us.

"Okay..." I say.

"To change back you just think about your wolf. Just want it and it will happen." he says.

I close my eyes and picture the wind blowing around my fur as I run. I imagine my four white paws and brown husky like body. I feel my body change.

I open my eyes and I'm my wolf again. I stand.

"See, that wasn't so hard. Okay we can go back now." he says. I smirk and push him with my big head so he falls over. I dash through the woods and make my way to the house. There is no way he is going to beat me now.

I run at full speed and make it to the tree line I find some clothes and grab them in my mouth. I run over to a tree, shift, and then put on the shirt and shorts. I step out from behind the tree and face the pack house. My jaw drops.

Gavin is standing there with his arms folded looking at me. What? No way.

"How did you...?"

"I've been doing this a lot longer than you." he says. "Think I would let a rookie beat me?" He asks. I frown and walk in his direction.

"Whatever, I will beat you next time." I say. I walk around him. Suddenly I'm pulled to a hard chest and sparks fly around me. I smile.

"Think what you want sweetheart. I never lose." Then it hits me. I turn around and give him a light slap on the chest.

"You bimbo, you cheated! You're not allowed to teleport!" I say. He laughs.

"There are no rules, so technically I can't cheat. The first one to the house wins and I won." he adds cockily.

I stick my tongue out at him. He laughs and pulls me into him for another hug. I nuzzle my face into his chest and hug him back.

"Ev?" I hear a deep voice. I freeze. Gavin lets go of me and I turn around.

"Jason." I say as I look him in the eyes. He glares at Gavin.

"What is going on out here." He says angrily.

"Well um..." I begin to say. Luckily Gavin answers for me.

"When Kari told me Evelyn was missing for a day I went out to find her. She was out in the woods. We were just coming back now." He says in a plain tone. Jason growls lightly. My wolf gets mad at that and I frown at Jason.

"Don't growl at him." I say, "He actually found me." Jason turns to me and his face lightens. He ignores what I said to him.

"Oh god Ev, we were so worried. You just disappeared. We had no idea where you were. I'm so glad you're okay." he walks up to me and hugs me.

I hear a low growl. Jason releases me and glares at Gavin.

"Shut up mutt." Jason says. I frown.

Before I can say anything Gavin says, "Let go of her."

"Make me." Jason adds.

"You asked for it." Gavin says. he takes a step toward Jason.

"Stop!" I shout. I jump in between them and grab Gavin's arm. I look up into his darkened eyes. "Please, just let it go." I beg him. He sighs. I feel his muscles relax under my hand.

"Fine." he says. He is still upset but at least he is listening to me. I turn to Jason.

"You." I say, "Stop trying to instigate a fight. Now lets get inside before Kari goes mental. I didn't realize I was gone for so long."

I release Gavin's hand and walk into the house. Kari is probably with Bryce in his office. Both boys follow me.

I open up the office door. Kari is sitting in his chair on the phone and Bryce is leaning on the wall. They hear the noise and look up toward the door. I smile awkwardly and wave. Kari looks shocked.

"We found her Jamie." She says then pauses. I hear a muffled noise from the phone. "Yeah she just walked in the door... You and Ashley can come home now." She pauses again. "Yup, alright drive safe."

She hangs up the phone. She rises from her chair and is still looking at me with shock.

"Hi Kari... Sorry, I-" I begin to say.

"Where the hell have you been?" She shouts. Well, here we go... "Do you understand how worried we have been?"

"Yes. Kari I get that it's just-"

"I can't believe you would run away, get us so worried then just come back?"

"Kari! Listen!" I shout. She sighs.

"Sorry..." She adds and I sigh.

"I shifted." Her jaw drops.

"You did what?" She asks.

"I shifted. Gavin found me in the woods in my wolf form. I didn't realize I was gone for so long. I passed out a couple of times, and now I'm here." I add. She smiles and runs up to me and hugs me. I laugh and hug her back.

"Evie I'm so happy for you! How did it feel to be in wolf form?" She asks.

"It felt.... natural." I say. She squeals in happiness.

"Oh Evie this is awesome! Now you can start your wolf training. Oh you will love it, its a lot of running but it is really enjoyable in wolf form." I laugh.

She slowly releases me from the hug. Bryce walks over and pulls me into a brotherly hug. I hug him back quickly and he releases me.

"Well I don't know about you guys but I am starving." I say. Everyone laughs.

"Lets go get some lunch." Bryce says. We laugh and follow him out of his office.

I didn't realize being a wolf can make you so hungry! Oh well, I'm just glad to be back with my family.
