Chapter 14

"Okay girls that's enough for today. Practice is over." Coach Shelly yells and hurries us off the field. Apparently she has an appointment that she absolutely can't be late for so she's kicking us off as fast as possible.

I jog over to my bag and gulp down some of my water. "Tough practice today huh?" Tori asks from behind me.

I wipe off some sweat from my forehead and nod. It's crazy, coach had us do so many running drills today. My lungs are killing me.

"She absolutely went crazy out there. I'm glad I didn't eat much at lunch today or else I would have puked it all up..." I say and take a couple deep breathes. I'm still panting from earlier.

Tori laughs. "Same. Ugh now I have to wait for stupid guys-football to be over." She says. That reminds me. Jason and Ralf had to skip practice today. It was a mandatory training day for the people who have shifted. I hope their coach doesn't get pissed at them for that...

I look into the parking lot and see that Rosie isn't out there with José... Of course she chooses to be late today out of all days. I suppose the only thing I can do is wait.

"Hey I can come watch them with you. Rosie isn't here yet so I have time to spare." I say.

Her eyes brighten. "Really? You will come?" I nod. "You're amazing!"

We gather our stuff and head out to the football field. This field is so nice. I love it when we get to play our soccer games here. It is turf so it's prepared for all fall sports to play on it. Unfortunately, only the varsity soccer teams get the chance to play on the football field though. Honestly, I'm fine with that because I'm on varsity...

Sometimes they even let us play at night, under the lights. Those are the only times people actually go out of their way to come watch our soccer games. I mean who can resist a game on such a nice football field at night? Well actually a lot of people can still resist, but we at least get like fifteen fans on the stands.

We make it onto the bleachers. Sitting down on the cool slick surface causes me to sigh in relief. It feels great on my hot skin.

"So why isn't Rosie here?" Tori asks me. I shrug.

"That's a good question. She's usually either here on time or early. I don't know why she isn't here yet... It's weird. Maybe I should text her?" Tori nods her head. I rummage through my bag and pull out my phone. I see a message from Jason on the screen. I open it and it says:

'Hey Ev, funny story. I was talking to Rosie before I went out to do training. Then she suddenly started her first change. Funny right...? Anyways. She can't come pick you up, she is running around the woods. Could you catch a ride with someone? If not text me and I can come get you. '

Of course. She changes now out of all times. When both Ralf and Jason aren't here... I can't believe she changed though. It seems unreal.

"Rosie just had her first shift." I say to Tori astonished. Her jaw drops.

"No way? She had her first shift today? That's amazing!" I nod. "You don't look happy for her?" She asks me questioningly. Shit! I should be happy, this is amazing! I shake off the sad feelings lingering in my chest and I smile.

"I was just shocked, it's going to be weird that she changed. An exciting weird, but weird."

"Yeah, but shifting is amazing. She's going to love it so much." I'm sure she will... I would love it too... "So how are you going to get home?" She asks.

I shrug. "Well Jason and Ralf had pack training today so they didn't come to practice... So I might text Jason to come get me later."

"Nonsense!" Tori shouts. Just then the football coach blows the whistle and all the guys start heading in to get changed. "You can come home with Gavin, Seth and me. We will drop you off at the pack house." I feel my heart beat quicken.

Do I want to go home with them...? I mean that vision was pretty bad, but they haven't done anything to harm me personally... Also I don't really want to bother Jason. Especially since I don't know if I want to be alone with him right now. I still don't know how I feel about him.

"I would actually appreciate that a lot. Do you think they will mind me tagging along?" She shakes her head and stands from the bleachers.

"They won't mind at all. Now come on, we should go wait for them outside the locker room." I pick up my gym bag and follow Tori.

Okay, things will be okay. I mean worst comes to worst, I just jump out of their moving car. Yeah that's fine. People survive that all the time... right?

When we get to the locker room it only takes the guys a few minutes before they come out. The weird thing is, when they do finally appear, Seth looks like he is going to pass out.

"Um Seth, are you okay?" I ask him concerned. They approach us and he shakes his head.

"No... I feel wicked sick..." I walk up to him and touch his forehead. Oh my god! He's burning up!

"You feel hot, you might have a temperature." I say.

"Yeah, we will get him straight home and to bed." Gavin says. I look up at him, wow. It's weird to talk to him after how mad I was in Pastry today. "Why are you here anyway." he says plainly. I frown. Jerk.

"She's coming home with us." Tori says. Gavin opens his mouth to protest but she cuts him off. "Don't complain. Now help Seth get to the car. We will have to bring him home before we bring you home Ev. Is that okay?" She asks. I nod.

"That's fine." Well this is going to be interesting... I guess I am curious about Trevor... I hope he is okay... Oh jeez, what if they are luring me into their lair to kidnap me or something... No. Stop. This is where my over active imagination crosses the line. I think too much.

We head to the parking lot. They lead me to a SUV that's dark blue. It's kind of big, that will be a nice change from José.

Gavin helps Seth into the passenger seat as Tori and I get in the back seat. The inside is mostly leather. It's nice. When Gavin turns on the car, country music starts to play in the back ground. I smile. I love country music! It's odd to think of Gavin as a Country listener. He seems more like a rap or heavy metal kind of guy.

"Ew, Gavin turn this crap off." Tori says with a sour face.

"If you want to walk home you can, but I'm listening to what I want." Gavin says back to her. She frowns.

"Gavin turn the station." Tori says seriously, she looks at Gavin through the rear view mirror. It's a music station... why is she getting all serious about it. Plus country is good.

He sighs. "Fine." My jaw drops open. Did Gavin just listen to her? She's not even half his size! Wow, why can't he listen to me like that. Jerk...

The rest of the ride is silent, not awkward though. Soon we pull up to a house that looks like the size of a modern family's house. It's decently large and there is some nice greenery in the front of the house. Their curb appeal is off the charts. It looks so beautiful, like it belongs on the front of a magazine.

Tori's the only girl, and I don't see how she would have time to keep up the whole exterior of the house...

"How do you guys keep the place looking so nice. It looks like it needs a lot of upkeep." I say and stare at it from inside the car. I hear Tori laugh.

"Oh we don't take care of that. Our gardener and landscapers take care of all those things." She says. "Now come on, let's get Seth inside." I hear a groan from the front seat. Aw, poor Seth.

I hope out of the car. Gavin comes around and opens up the passages side. Slowly Seth slides out of his seat. Gavin supports him and starts walking him inside. Geez, he looks like he got hit by a bus...

"Come on Ev. Now that you're here I might as well show you around." Tori says and waves me into the house. When we get inside I look around. It's actually bigger than I expected. We are in a huge open room with an extremely high ceiling. To the right there is a set of stairs that leads to the second floor. Gavin is helping Seth up the stairs.

I follow Tori into their kitchen. Everything seems new, even the appliances. Wow they must have more money than I thought. This place looks expensive. Tori grabs an apple and tosses me one too. I catch it. It looks good. I take a bite and continue to follow Tori. She walks me around the bottom floor than heads up stairs.

We pass by three door. The first is Carter's room, then Trevor's and then Seth's. Tori's room is next, but before we go in she mentions that the door on the other side of her room is the bathroom, and next to that is Roger's room. Apparently Gavin lost in the rock, paper, scissor, shoot contest and ended up being the one that has to sleep in the basement. I laughed at that. Serves him right! It's karma for being a jerk to me.

Tori opens up her bedroom door and flicks on the light. "This is my room." She says with a bright smile. She tosses her apple core into a small garbage can and I follow suit. I look around at her room.

Woah. It's so beautiful. Her room has a theme of music. The walls are white besides the back wall which is light blue. There are song lyrics in white typed onto the wall in big letters. Her bed lies on that wall and has a nice comforter that is light blue with a single music note on the bottom corner. Everything else in the room matches the color scheme of blue and white. She did a very good job.

She jumps onto her bed. "So what do you think?" She asks me.

"It's so pretty." I look around again. "How did you manage to do this all on your own?" I ask. She shrugs.

"I'm just creative and I have a lot of time on my hands." I stroll around her room.

When I get to her vanity I see a bunch of makeup. Then I see a few photos of what look to be of her relatives. I look at the first one. Its of her as a kid and a woman that looks just like her. That must be her mom.

The next picture is of her as a child and a dog, I'm assuming her old pet?

The last picture lies inside a frame that says 'Family', which is embedded in the bottom of it. The picture itself has five people. On the right is Tori as a child, the woman that I assumed is her mom and a man that looks to be her father. To the left of them is something that shocks me. There is a woman who is quite beautiful. She is in the arms of a man. What gets me is how familiar this man is.

Then it hits me. I recognized him from my vision. Before I could stop myself I blurt out, "Who are these people."

I hear Tori get of from her bed and she peers over my shoulder. "Oh that's my mom, dad, aunt and uncle." She says and sighs.

"Your family is beautiful." I say and continue to stare at the picture.

"Was beautiful." She takes it from my hands and puts it down. "Come on, Seth's probably in bed already and Gavin's most likely waiting for us."

"Okay." I say. I follow her down the stairs and we see Gavin waiting in the family room.

"Took you guys long enough." He says and stands. Tori sticks her tongue out at him.

"I was just showing her around our house since she was nice enough to give us a tour of her pack house."

"Well you didn't have to take so long." He adds. Of course he is being a pain in the ass. "Let's get her back home so I can go to bed." I smirk.

"Heard you were banished to the basement to sleep." He glares at me.

"I wasn't banished. I just lost at Rock Paper Scissors Shoot." I roll my eyes.

"Oh so you just suck at Rock Paper Scissors shoot then?"

"No I just got unlucky!" He says. Tori coughs loudly and we look at her.

"So are we going to leave or are you two going to bicker all night?" Damn, someones a little sour... Gavin walks to the door. And grabs his keys off of the rack.

"Fine we can leave." She smirks victoriously and walks toward the door. I follow her. Gavin opens the door and Tori steps in front of him and walks out to the car. I follow her.

Just as I pass by Gavin he whispers, "This isn't over." I giggle and walk out to the SUV. Tori decides she wants shotgun this time so I go into the back seat by myself.

They drive me back to the pack house and I thank them graciously. See, that wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Turns out I was worried for nothing. Sure the picture thing was weird... I think her uncle in the picture is the man in my vision. But if that's the case then why did she make it seem like her whole family is dead...

I guess I can't stress about it now. I will have to find out more information soon. But for now, it's bedtime for me.
