Chapter 6 - Brothers

Olivia POV

I wake up to a loud knock on my door, "get up, Liv, or I'm coming in."

I groan, "go away, Liam."

"I'll take that as a no, then," he says and my room doors open. I cover my eyes with my arm to shield them from the incoming light.

"I'm tired," I croak out.

"That's your fault for staying up so late. We heard you and Lydia coming in," he throws the covers off of me, "I'm shocked you're not grounded."

I become cold and wrap my arms around myself, not bothering to get the covers back, "please just let me sleep," I beg.

I hear him sigh and his footsteps exit the room. I decide I'm too lazy to move and get my blankets so I stay curled in a ball. Then I hear footsteps come back, but this time there's more of them.

Great, they've all come in to annoy me.

But suddenly the bed disappears from beneath me and my eyes shoot open. I see Luke with a smug grin on his face as he carries me out of my room. I try to wriggle out of his arms but his death grip doesn't allow me to break free.

"Put me down Luke!" I scream and kick and hit him but he doesn't let me go. The other two follow us and I can hear them laughing hysterically.

I thought I was just going to be carried down to the dining hall, maybe they just wanted to embarrass me in my night time attire but of course, they would take advantage of their revengre.

"What are you doing?" I ask as Liam opens the doors for us. Luke simply smirks and fastens his pace. I see we are headed towards one destination.

The river.

"No! No Luke put me down now!" I scream.

"I'm just helping you wake up," he laughs.

"Luke you know I can't swim!"

"Relax, it's not that deep."

It's too late as my body is surrounded by freezing cold water. I gasp in shock and accidentally swallow some of the water as I come to the surface, coughing and spluttering. Cold, cold, cold!

"Shut up," I yell at them for laughing as they run away.

"Idiots," I sigh to myself as I climb out. I shiver and fall to the ground, rubbing my arms. It was early October and it was freezing outside. Yet, strangely, the cold seemed to snap me awake and back into reality.

My memories came flooding back to me. My emotions were completely mixed. I had betrayed my family by going anywhere near that wall in the first place, never mind kissing the son of their sworn enemies. Well, he kissed me I guess, but still.

Yet I can't seem to shake the feelings that went through my body. It was the greatest feeling I had ever felt before.

I decide to go back to my room and get washed and dressed quickly before breakfast, careful not to let anyone see me.

I knock on Lydia's door and hear a "come in".

"I don't know what to do," I loudly groan as I enter.

"Why don't I even have to ask?"

"I betrayed them all but I-" I pause.

"You what?"

"I don't know, Lyd. When he kissed me it just felt so-" I pause again, butterflies shooting through my chest.

"What?"

"Amazing," I breathe out, falling onto her bed.

"Why am I weirdly okay with you falling in love with a Dalton?" She laughs.

"I'm not falling in love with him!" I sit up instantly, "I can't!"

"I know," she sighs.

"So what do I do?"

"You have to tell him, Liv. Tell him you two can't be together. Even if you only kissed, it would be awful to lead him on and then break his heart," she tells me.

"No way am I going out there again! Last time I barely made it out. I don't want to imagine what would have happened if they had found me out before I left," I shuddered.

She shrugs and I stand up, "anyway, if you hadn't told me to go see him again, I wouldn't have knew he was a Dalton and he wouldn't have kissed me!"

"Why are you blaming me? I was only trying to help. How was I supposed to know?" She folds her arms.

"I don't know, just, help me please," I put my head in my hands.

Lydia places a hand on my knee, "Olivia, I know that you're worried, but they'd all go literally insane if they ever found out. You understand what I'm saying, right?"

"Yeah," I sigh.

"You kinda have to never see him again."

"Thanks for being so honest," I laughed.

"Just looking out for my girl," she winks, "come on. I'll give those idiots a piece of my mind."

Of course, as we walk in arm and arm, they all have the same stupid smirk across their faces, even Theo. Lydia rolls her eyes at me and I shake my head at them.

"They away early again?" I ask Theo, sitting next to him, making it very clear that I was ignoring the others.

"Probably. Not heard from them since yesterday," he mumbles and I nod. It seems my brothers can barely look at me without bursting into fits of laughter.

"I swear all they do is laugh at me," I say quietly to Lydia.

"Boys," she states.

"Yeah," I sigh.

The day had passed quickly by the time my uncles got home later in the afternoon.

They seemed to be in quite a bad mood so we agreed to stay away from them and go for a walk outside, something I enjoyed doing as it got me out of the castle. Lydia, Theo, Lewis, Luke, Liam and I took a walk around the gardens. They didn't really want to, but it was that or royal stuff.

"What do you think's up with them?" Theo asks.

"No idea," Lewis shrugs. We walk in silence for a little bit longer.

"Well? Who's gonna ask?" Liam finally speaks.

"Not me!" Lydia quickly says.

"You should do it since you're the youngest," I smirk at Liam.

"You're a girl," he retaliates.

"Exactly. I shouldn't have to. Besides I'm the oldest," I snap.

"What's that supposed to mean anyway?" Lydia glares at Liam and he puts his hands up in surrender.

"Well, I'm second oldest so I'm not doing it," Luke says.

Everyone looks at Liam again as Lewis slowly steps away.

"No! I think Theo or Lydia should do it since it's their dad," he looks at our cousins.

"I'm the oldest," Theo quickly jumps to answer.

"Well I'm the youngest," Lydia fold her arms.

"Exactly, you're more convincing," he answers.

"And a girl," Liam adds, earning death glares from Lydia and I.

I shove him roughly by the shoulder, "idiot."

We continue to stare at Lydia.

"No!"
