Chapter 50 - And They All Lived...

Olivia POV

My eyes shot open. The bare skin of the backs of my arms felt cold, and I realised I was sitting on the floor, leaning against a wall, both of which were ice cold. I could now feel the effects of the drugs slightly wearing off - meaning I could sit straight, see without blurry vision and form a coherent sentence.

I could hear some low sounding vibrations, which I quickly processed as deep voices, and looked up and ahead.

Two figures were positioned in front of yet another door in front of me, and I observed Luke and Logan talking in hushed voices while looking though a gap in the door.

"What's going on?" I rub my eyes a little before hearing Luke shush me quietly.

"How are you feeling?" Logan crouches down beside me and I can't help but smile softly at seeing his face.

"My head hurts but I'm okay," I nod. I quickly glance over in Luke's direction to see that he's looking out of the gap in the door. I missed you, I mouth. Logan just smiles, grabs my hand and squeezes it gently before helping me to my feet.

"How long was I out for?" I ask quietly as Logan and I approach Luke at the door.

"Hours, maybe?" Luke looks towards Logan and he nods, "we've been here for a long time waiting for them to clear out a bit."

There were many "guards" gathering a good bit across from us, we could only pick up on certain bits of the conversation but from what I gathered from Luke and Logan the only way out was in their direction. They had tried to find another way, but all other doors and windows were blocked and we had been backed into this empty room to avoid being spotted.

"They're going to realise we're missing soon if they haven't already," I note, "we can't stay in here much longer. The only way is through them, but we can't make a run for it while they've all got guns."

So we waited, for some kind of opening. Suddenly, there was a group of guards flocking from one direction who seemed to give the others' information that put them on a high alert.

They know we're missing.

However, it was also a blessing as the large gathering dispersed in order to find us.

"Go!" Luke ushers the the two of us to run towards the exit.

The three of us ran for our lives. My chest and lungs felt as though they were on fire but my legs continued to fly from underneath me. Running in front of the other two, I could see the light just beyond a corner on the left, we're so close and we've hardly been seen!

But just as I turn the corner, I clash into a hard chest. Spinning me around, I feel an arm grab across my shoulders and a familiar clicking sound next to my ear.

"You don't really think that low of me, do you?" Antonio chuckles from behind me, "I would never let our two trophies slip from us that easily."

While Antonio speaks to Logan and I, I notice a third body missing from our group. I pick up on Logan looking to his left a couple of times and knew he was looking at Luke, who was hidden from sight beyond the corner.

"Now, the three of us are going to take a walk back to where you belong, or pretty princess gets her brains blown out, understand?"

He points with his gun straight ahead and takes slow steps in that direction.

"Make any stupid moves and I'll-"

Antonio gets cut off from behind me as he seemingly falls to the ground, the weight of his arm dragging me down to my knees as well.

"Get up!" Luke pulls me to my feet again, a brick in his other hand which he quickly tosses to the floor.

"More of them are coming, we need to get out of here now," Logan tells us, and we all make a break for the exit.

Upon us reaching the outside, I see what looks like hundreds of guards appear from their hiding places and charge in our direction.

A week later...

"Maria Sinclair and her companions will get the punishment they deserve," Uncle Felix squeezes my shoulders gently, before sitting down in the chair in front of me. I place the hot mug of tea on the table in front of me, leaning back in my own chair.

We were still in the Centre Building after another meeting between our families, but I had remained in this quiet room for it's duration.

"That's good to hear," I nod with a small smile, "I'm sorry I couldn't come to the meeting today, I just didn't feel up to reliving it all again."

"Don't be sorry, Olivia. Logan told us everything we needed to know, but even so I wouldn't expect much of either of you at the moment," he reassures me.

My whole family had been much more kind and understanding towards me in the past week, not that they weren't before, but there was definitely a higher level of mutual respect between us all. I was especially happy the way Luke and I seemed to be patching things up.

"The Doctor says to drink this," Luke had visited my room the same night of my rescue. The rest of our uncles were still across the borders dealing with our criminals, but Luke had immediately brought me back home for a health check and brought me straight to my bed.

"Thank you," I nod, taking the bottle from his hands and drinking it.

"I'm really sorry, Liv," he sighs, "I don't think I can even begin to explain what for, but I want you to know I'm really sorry."

"I'm sorry too," I nod, and the two of us sit in silence for a few moments.

"Friends again?" He smirks a little, holding his arms out for a hug and I laugh, sitting up and hugging my brother for what felt like the first time in ages.

A knock at the door causes Uncle Felix and I to sit up more attentively, and I'm surprised to see my favourite blonde peak through the door.

"You mind if I steal her for a while?" Logan asks playfully, and to my complete shock Uncle Felix simply smiles and shakes his head "no", before taking a sip of his own tea.

I give my uncle a quick kiss on the cheek to silently show my gratitude before hesitantly following Logan out the room.

"What was that?" I raise my eyebrows as the two of us walk together.

"What was what?" He smirks.

I roll my eyes, "you know what. I'm guessing you completely blew Felix away at that meeting, then?"

"He's not that bad, you know," he chuckles, "but, yeah, I think maybe their Majesties are starting to realise there's more important things than pride."

"You've spoke to your dad, then?" I ask.

He shrugs, "a little. Which is a lot for him I suppose."

I nod, not really knowing what to say, "I'm just glad we're okay."

"Where are we going, anyway?" I ask as I realise Logan is leading me outside, towards the side of his Kingdom.

"You'll see," he smirks a little, grabbing onto my hand and pulling me in close, "I love you, Olivia Maxwell."

"I love you," I lean up on my tip toes a little to quickly kiss him before asking again, "but I'll love you even more if you tell me where we're going."

"Be patient."

We walk towards the woods, joking around a little bit, before I feel Logan's tone and mood shift.

"Hey, so, I know we've maybe broken the ice a little bit between our families, but-" he trails off, "I'm meant to be King in a few years and-"

"Oh, no," I sigh, "Logan, we're not really having this conversation right now, are we?"

"Just listen," he stops walking, and I realise we've reached the hole in the wall between out two kingdoms, "I know it would be practically impossible for us to be together while I'm King."

My heart sinks.

"But if there's something I know, it's that I love you, and for as long as I can remember I've hated all of this royal business. I never wanted to be King, Olivia," Logan admits.

"So-?" I trail off, confused, "what exactly are you saying?"

"So I spoke to my father a few days ago. I gave up my place as heir to the throne. I won't be King," he smiles.

"What?" I laugh, "Logan, that's amazing!"

I give him a hug around his neck before quickly pulling away, "but, how? How did you even convince him to let you do that?"

"I told him the truth," Logan smiles again, "the same truth I told Luke, and your uncle."

"And that is?"

"That there's no one else in this world I'd rather spend the rest of my life with," he tells me, stepping back a little.

"What-"

"Olivia Maxwell-" he begins, pulling a small box from his pocket and getting onto one knee.

My heart stops.

"Will you marry me?"
