Chapter 3 - Family Reunited

Olivia POV

"What's got you in such a good mood?" Luke asks as we sit down for breakfast.

"Nothing in particular," I say, still smiling from ear to ear.

I really couldn't help being this happy. I was still feeling giddy from the encounter the night before, though I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because he's the only guy I've spoke to that hasn't been sent by my family. What a rebel you are, Olivia.

"Where are our uncles, by the way?" I ask my brothers.

They all shrug their shoulders and we sit in silence for a few moments.

"What?" I ask, curious now.

"Something went down at the wall. They said something about intruders or something. They left at like five this morning. It's stressing them all out so it's best if we keep our distance for now," Luke explains.

"Intruders! Why didn't anyone tell me this?" I glare at my brothers.

"You were in your room, stupid," Liam comments which seems to entertain the other two.

I ignore him and turn to Lewis and Luke, "I suppose we don't have any royal duties today then?"

They shake their heads.

"Well, I'm going to my room. Let me know if anything changes," I sigh and head to my room. Well, I tried to at least. As I reach the stairs I hear the doors open, but don't pay much attention to it.

"LIVVY!" I hear a high-pitched voice scream as I reach the stairs. I am tackled and land on the stairs, using my hands to break my fall.

"Lydia, get off of her," I hear a familiar deep voice scold.

"Lydia! You're back!" I turn round and hug my cousin tightly.

"I missed you," she said.

"I can tell," I laughed.

Lydia and I have always been so close. Being the only girls left in our family apart from out grandmother, we stick together no matter what.

"Come on," Theo, my other cousin, Lydia's older brother by two years, pulled us up.

They definitely inherited out dark-hair gene, both of their hair the same shade of black and dark brown eyes which is also very common. I think we all have the same eyes, actually.

They had been travelling the past week or so, and it felt like forever since I had last seen them. They feel like siblings to me. I give Theo a quick squeeze before we head into the dining room to find my brothers. We sat down and caught up for a while as we haven't seen them in months.

"Where is our father?" Lydia asked.

I looked at my brothers and folded my arms, still angry at them for hiding things for me. I am the oldest, after all. Yet they all treat me like glass because I'm a girl. I internally roll my eyes at the thought.

"They all went down to the wall for a bit," Luke said, staring at me back. Our cousins just nodded and seemed to understand.

"Come," Lydia pulls me up from my chair, "lets go for a walk."

We decided to walk around the huge gardens, away from the boys where we knew they probably wouldn't follow us.

"So, anything exiting happen when we were away?" She asks.

I can't help the butterflies in my chest.

"You're blushing!" She grabs my arm.

I touch my cheek, "am not!"

"Did you meet a boy?" She jumps up and down squealing.

I feel my face burn and shake my head, "n-no!"

"You're a terrible liar! Oh my god I can't believe this!" She screams as I try to shush her.

"Don't- don't tell anyone. Please, Lydia," I can barely look at her from embarrassment.

"I knew it! Who was it? Tell me!" She continues to squeeze my arms and jump up and down.

"Okay, okay, just calm down," we walk over to a bench and sit down.

"I don't exactly know much about him. I took a ride out to the woods near the wa-"

"The wall?" She gasps.

"Shh, shh, let me finish," I look around to make sure no one is around, "I lost my horse and tried to find her when he grabbed me and pulled me into the bushes-"

"Do I even want to know?" I am cut off yet again.

"Ew, Lydia!"

"Sorry."

"There were men on horses that seemed to be looking for him. He told me he'd run away from home. After they had passed we found Violet and I rode her back here," I finished.

"You just left him?" She looks shocked.

"What was I supposed to do?"

"Stay with him, idiot! Find out who he was, if he liked you! At least tell me what he looked like."

"Dirty blonde hair, eyes the colour of the ocean and a smile brighter than my future," I laughed.

"Awww," she says and pinches my cheeks, "Livvy's in love."

My eyes widen and I pull her hands away, "I am not in love!"

"Sure you're not," she smirks.

"I barely know him, Lyd," I sigh.

"That's what they call "love at first sight" darling," she sighs happily, clutching her heart dramatically.

"Stop it," I cover my now red face, "we really need a better social life if you're getting this excited."

"You should go see him again!" She squeals., ignoring my remark.

"What? No! I can't!"

"Go back to the woods and see if he's there!"

"Lyd, I doubt he just hangs around the woods all day. Especially that close to the wall," I laugh.

"You never know," she jumps up, "come on, let's get you ready."

"What? No Ly-"

After being dragged upstairs and into Lydia's room, she sits me down at her massive dressing table which is almost identical to mine but in a baby blue colour. Her room is mainly blues, grays and whites while mines is violet (my favourite colour, which is why it's the name of my horse, how creative), pink and white.

After going on about how "natural makeup" will make me look more attractive, she sighs and puts down the large face brush, "you look amazing."

"Lydia, why are you being so dramatic?"

"Shush, look at you!" She points at my reflection excitedly.

"Shame he won't see it," I sigh, "I'm not going to see him."

"Listen to me," she grabs my shoulders and turns me to face her, "I don't care how long it takes you. You will search this entire kingdom and you will find him. I believe in you!"

"Why are you so set on me finding him anyway?" I laughed.

"He's the one! I know it! Besides, when do we ever get anywhere with boys?"

"You've never met him," I roll my eyes.

She puts a finger over my lips, "shh. Just let your heart do the talking."

"Shut up," I push her arm away playfully.

"Go! I'll cover for you!" She pushes me out the door and we run down the hall.

"I don't think this is a good idea," I whisper to her as she pushes me out the door, "Luke will kill the poor boy if he finds out! You know what he's like."

"Nonsense! Have fun!" She winks and closes the door quietly.

I sigh, I'm not really going to go through with this, am I?

Of course not, Lydia is insane! There's no way I'm wandering about the kingdom on my own looking for someone who I don't even know their name.

I turn around and try to push open the doors.

Locked.

Well, no going back now.
