Chapter 22 - Someone's Watching You

Third Person POV

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Jeremy asked Felix. The two men were in the King's office, discussing the previous events.

"I want to know what she's up to," Felix confirmed, "she's never acted like this before."

"That doesn't mean we should have someone follow her. Just keep her here and she won't do anything else, " Jeremy insisted, refusing to believe his niece was up to no good. He knew she was hiding something, but not anything terrible.

He had always been very fond of Olivia and her brothers, seeing as their father was his twin brother. Strangely though, it was Olivia who reminded him of his twin. She was strong, smart, independent and responsible- all things her father was.

"If we do that we'll never know. I'm not saying she's doing anything, but she's been acting differently lately. Don't tell me you haven't noticed?" The King said.

"Yes," Jeremy sighed, "I know what you mean. She's quite the bad liar."

"Then it's settled," Felix nodded, "we'll tell her her punishment is no longer and have a trusted guard follow her."

"Oh, and Jeremy?" Felix called out as his brother reached the door.

"Yes?" He turned around.

"Tell Luke. I want him to know everything."

Olivia POV

"Seriously?" Standing in Uncle Felix's office, it seemed that his anger had completely melted away.

"Yes. I talked it over with my brothers. We agreed that you were right- it wasn't your fault after all," he responds and I tilt my head.

"But yesterday you were so-"

"I panicked. I apologise for how I acted," he apologies, something which was rare. He's admitting he was wrong? That's a first.

"Th-thank you?" I say, though it comes out as more of a question.

"Go on," he dismisses me, "you're free to leave."

I scurry out of the room quickly before he changes his mind. I decided I'd go out to see Jess, who was probably worried since I hadn't spoken to her since the bombs. No one actually knew what happened with that whole situation, or at least no one told me.

They probably wouldn't anyway. And where's Luke? He's been out ever since I got back with our uncles. Is he avoiding me?

I walk into my room and slide the box from under my bed out and lift it onto a table. I have a look through until I find what I was looking for. A small, slightly wrinkled piece of paper.

Sorry about making you faint, pretty girl. Hope we can do it again, minus the fainting, of course.

I smiled, the note being the only physical reminder I had of my "secret boyfriend". I kept it very safe, and holding it felt comforting. I'm so creepy.

"Olivia?" I hear a knock on my door. I quickly shove the paper into my dress pocket and slide the box back underneath my bed.

"Yeah?" I say quickly, kicking the box farther with my feet before running to open the door.

"Hey," my twin smiled sadly, "can I come in?"

"Oh- uh, yeah," I say, surprised to see him.

"Is something wrong?" I ask him as he walks to the centre of my room and turns to face me.

"Just- are you okay?" He asks, genuinely looking worried.

"I'm fine, I just got scared when I heard the noise and-"

"No, no about that. Well, that too, but I'm worried about you Liv," he frowns, "what's going on? All these bad things keep happening to you when they shouldn't be."

"I know, and nothing else bad will happen, I swear," I reply and he just hums in response.

"Do you know what happened, Luke? With the bombs?" I ask and he looks away from my gaze.

"Kind of," he says, "it's nothing for you to worry about."

I was involved! Well, not that you'd know.

"It's nothing for me to worry about? Since when? We're twins, if you forgot, and I'm older than you!" I say angrily, my voice getting louder.

"Since you started acting so weird!" He raises his voice also.

"I'm not acting weird!" I yell, "it's all of you treating me like I'm so fragile! I want to be of some use and not just sit around."

"Yes you are! Something happened to you Olivia!"

"Nothing happened!"

"Yes it did, and I'm going to find out what," he slams the door behind him and I stand in shock.

He's going to be watching me like a hawk. At least he can't follow me everywhere outside of the castle. I grabbed a jacket from my bed, putting it on as I ran out of my room.

"Lydia?" I knock on her door, opening it to find the room empty. My stomach grumbles and I realise that everyone will probably be down at breakfast.

"Lydia," I notice my brothers and cousins sitting down for breakfast, my uncles or grandmother nowhere to be seen.

"Hey," she smiles at me as I enter the dining hall.

"Come on," I grab an apple from the table, "we're leaving."

"But I'm still eat-"

"It's important!" I hiss into her ear, giving Luke my dirtiest look possible.

"And just who said you could leave?" He asks sarcastically, raising his eyebrows.

"I did, you don't own me," I spat, storming out of the dining hall, Lydia trailing behind me. No guards are at the front door today, something must have happened. I open the heavy front door with both hands.

"You know he's going to tell them right? You just got un-grounded for the second time in the past two months and already you're breaking the rules?" Lydia follows me outside.

"I don't care, I just need to get out of that awful place," I roll my eyes as Lydia catches up to me, walking down the small hill. Not many guards out here either. Strange.

Lydia doesn't seem to notice as she continues to ask me questions, "did something happen?"

"Luke happened," I subconsciously grit my teeth in annoyance.

"Ugh, why do you two get into petty little fights all the time?" She scoffs.

"Have you met my brother, Lydia?" I roll my eyes, "I don't know how anyone can stand him for more than five minutes."

"But not that long ago you two were getting along really well-"

"Well I'm over it now."

"Wait, where are we actually going?" She asks as we wander into town.

I shrug, "well, I was going to go see Jess, but where do you want to go?"

"Well," she looks around quickly and whispers in my ear, "I want to see the place in the forest."

I knew exactly what she meant. She wanted me to take her to the place Logan and I met up.

"After those bombs? I told you we were right next to it!"

"Please? You always get to do all the exciting stuff! We'll just go, have a quick look and come back," she pouts.

I sigh, "let's go get the horses."
