Chapter 14 - Family Misfortunes

Olivia POV

"You know each other?" Luke glares at the blonde-haired girl.

"Yeah, we all met at the meeting. Right, Betty?" I see Logan nudge who I remember him telling me was his sister.

"Wha-" she begins but senses Logan's glare and stops.

Luke simply glares at the two. The other, older-looking man walks over and begins talking to some of the guards. Lydia and I are left with our brothers who are being tightly held by guards, and Logan and his sister beside them.

I look up at Logan and then to the boys, and Logan begins to approach me, still leaning on Lydia. His eyes widen as he examines my face, but says nothing with Lydia and some guards next to us.

"Give us a minute," I whisper to Lydia and she walks away, convincing the guards to go with her.

I can sense the fierce glares from my brothers and cousin, but talk to him nonetheless. We were stood a good enough distance away that they wouldn't hear us if we spoke quietly, facing away from them so they can't see out faces.

"What happened to your face? Is this about you going missing?" He frowns and raises his hand up to touch my face which I subtly push away.

"Don't. They'll see," I mutter, "it's a long story."

"Tell me. Please," his worried eyes meet mine.

So I did, explaining how I was kidnapped, hit hard over the head and shot. He never spoke for a few moments, and I could hear his heavy breathing, "they never told me that. All my parents said was that we had intruders or something, I- fuck," he runs a hand through his hair.

"It's okay, Logan I-"

"No it's not okay! Jesus, Olivia!" He hisses.

"I know, sorry," I sighed, "I just don't want you to feel angry. I'll be fine, I promise."

"I wish I could be there for you."

"You know I'd give you a hug right now if I could," I giggle, "but I don't think we have enough privacy for that."

"Oh? That's it?" His eyes light up a little.

"Maybe," I wink, "as soon as I can I'll meet up with you again."

"Okay," he nods, before turning back towards my strange family, "maybe I should keep them. Then I could see you more often."

"Oh!" I had forgotten all about them, "about that, I'm so sorry. They're just stupid, they didn't mean any harm to your family. Please let them go."

"I know, there's not much I can do, Olivia," his face falls again.

I shake my head, "you can call me Liv if you like."

"Liv?" He raises his eyebrows in amusement.

I nod, "that's me."

He lets out a loud laugh and I anxiously look back at my brothers who were watching. My eyesight wasn't great, but I could feel their stares on us.

"Hey, I like it," he smiles.

"Oh," I remember, looking back over, "she's your sister, right?"

"Yeah, my little sister Elizabeth. She hates the nickname Liz so we call her Betty cause she read it in a book or something," he rolls his eyes.

"Cute," I smile in her direction.

"What about you? By the looks of it you've got a few bodyguards," he raises his eyebrows, not turning back around but I knew he was talking about the boys.

"Funny thing is I'm the oldest, yet they still think they have to protect me. Don't tell me they've scared you off," I giggle.

He shrugs, "I like a challenge. Although I have a feeling we're not off to a good start."

I giggle again, "I can see that. Well the angry one is Luke, he's my twin. The one next to him is my cousin Theo and my brothers Lewis and Liam who are also twins. The girl who was helping me was my cousin Lydia."

"Oh, about that, do you need help?" He motions to my leg.

I shake my head, "It's alright. Don't think it would look great if I leaned on you, either."

"I don't care. Do it, piss them off," he shrugs.

"That's because they can't touch you. They can kill me if they want."

"The king on your side's your uncle, right?"

I nod.

"Why is it that he's going to be King?" He asks, nodding towards my twin.

"He never actually had children of his own, our father was the second oldest out of him and my uncles and he's the oldest guy out of all of us, so my uncle wants him to take his place," I explain.

"I see," he nods.

"Is that your father?" I ask, looking at the important-looking man.

He nods, "yep. King," he rolls his eyes.

"What about the rest of your family?" I ask.

"My mother, father, a few uncles and aunts, cousins, Betty who's seventeen- she's two years younger than me and I have another sister called Maya who's thirteen," he smiles.

Hmm, so we're the same age? And he's most likely going to be King. Interesting.

"Aw," I smile at him, "my parents told me I always wanted a sister until Lydia was born."

"Trust me," he laughs, "you don't want one like mine."

"And you don't want brothers like mine," I roll my eyes.

"Swap?" He suggests playfully.

"Sure," I laugh.

"What is going on?" I hear Uncle Felix's booming voice and we immediately turn around. I spot him through the entrance to our side of the wall.

"It's fine, go back to your sister," I push Logan's chest lightly, where Felix can't see, and he nods and walks away. I didn't want my uncle to speak to him, it could cause problems. I especially didn't want Luke to, but I didn't want to ask.

"You should not be speaking to him. If you defy again me there will be consequences," he warns lowly, "I'm only letting you away with it once because I have a bigger issue on my hands. I will deal with you later."

With that, Uncle Felix walks over to Logan's father, who signals the guards to let go of the boys, and they talk for a while. I hadn't noticed my family walking towards me until I saw Luke's black hair out of the corner of my eye. I wave over Lydia who allows me to lean on her again, she'll be good backup, I thought.

"Luke," I narrow my eyes at the oldest of the four.

"Olivia," he replies mockingly.

I scoff, "I don't see why you've got an attitude with me, brother. You're the one with the great idea to trespass."

"Who said it was my idea?" He raises his eyebrows.

"Of course it was your idea," I respond and he rolls his eyes.

I glance over to Logan and his sister who also seemed to be having a heated conversation. Elizabeth- or Betty, doesn't really seem that bad, but she hasn't really spoken and I can't sense her emotions. Unlike my brothers, who make their disapproval for the two extremely obvious.

"What did I do?" I ask, but they stay silent and I see Luke follow my eyes towards Logan.

Oh no.

"What is it with you and that guy? Why were you speaking to him?" My twin questions.

"His family had the four of you, I was trying to talk him into giving you back," I look at the two older men further away, still talking, "but it seems Uncle Felix has that under control."

"I don't like them. Especially him," he crosses his arms.

"I agree. Promise us you will stay away," Theo warns.

"You two are just salty because you got caught," I laugh.

"Olivia. I mean it."

"Alright, alright, I promise."
